1 शमुवेल 25
1 १ शमुवेल मरण पावला तेव्हा सर्व इस्राएल लोकांनी एकत्र जमून त्याच्यासाठी शोक केला आणि त्यांनी त्यास रामा येथे त्याच्या घरात पुरले. दावीद उठून खाली पारान नावाच्या रानात गेला.
And Samuel died, and all Israel were gathered together, and made lamentation for him, and buried him within his own house, in Ramah, —and David arose and went down into the wilderness of Maon.
2 २ मावोनात एक पुरुष होता त्याची मालमत्ता कार्मेल येथे होती; तो पुरुष फार मोठा होता; त्याची तीन हजार मेंढरे व एक हजार बकरी होती; तो आपली मेंढरे कर्मेलात कातरीत होता.
Now there was, a man, in Maon, whose cattle were in Carmel, and, the man, was exceeding great, and, he, had three thousand sheep, and a thousand goats, —and so it was, that he was shearing his sheep in Carmel.
3 ३ त्या पुरुषाचे नाव नाबाल व त्याच्या पत्नीचे नाव अबीगईल होते; त्याची पत्नी तर बुध्दीने चांगली व सुंदर रूपवती होती परंतु तो पुरूष कठोर व वाईट चालीचा होता; तो कालेबाच्या कुळातला होता.
Now, the name of the man, was Nabal, and, the name of his wife, Abigail, —and, the woman, was of good understanding, and of beautiful figure, —but, the man, was unfeeling and of evil practices, and he was a Calebite.
So then David heard in the wilderness, —that Nabal was shearing his sheep.
5 ५ मग दावीदाने दहा तरुणास पाठवले आणि दावीद त्या तरुणास म्हणाला, “कर्मेल येथे जा व नाबालाकडे जाऊन माझ्या नावाने त्यास सलाम करा.
David, therefore, sent ten young men, —and David said unto the young men, —Go up to Carmel, and enter in unto Nabal, and ye shall ask him, in my name, of his welfare;
6 ६ त्या सुखी जिवाला असे म्हणा, ‘तुला शांती असो. व तुझ्या घराला शांती असो आणि जे काही तुझे आहे त्या अवघ्याला शांती असो.
and say thus—Long life to thee! Mayest, thou, prosper, And, thy household, prosper, And, all that thou hast, prosper!
7 ७ तुझ्याकडे कातरणारे आहेत असे मी आता ऐकले. आताच तुझे मेंढपाळ आम्हाजवळ होते त्यांना आम्ही उपद्रव केला नाही आणि जितके दिवस ते कर्मेलात होते तितके दिवस त्यांचे काही हरवले नाही.
Now, therefore, have I heard that thou hast shearers, —Well, the shepherds that thou hast, have been with us, we reproached them not, neither missed they, anything, all the days they were in Carmel.
8 ८ तू आपल्या तरुणास विचार म्हणजे ते तुला सांगतील; तर या तरुणावर तुझी कृपादृष्टी व्हावी कारण आम्ही चांगल्या दिवशी आलो”
Ask thy young men, that they may tell thee, that so my young men may find favour in thine eyes, for, on a good day, have we come! Give, I pray thee, what thy hand findeth, to thy servants, and to thy son, to David!
9 ९ मी तुला विनंती करतो जे काही तुझ्या हाताशी येईल ते तू तुझ्या दासांना व तुझा मुलगा दावीद याला दे. मग दावीदाचे तरुण येऊन या सर्व शब्दांप्रमाणे दावीदाच्या नावाने नाबालाशी बोलून शांत राहिले.
So David’s young men came, and spake unto Nabal, according to all these words, in the name of David, —and waited.
10 १० तेव्हा नाबालाने त्याच्या चाकरांना उत्तर देऊन म्हटले, “दावीद कोण आहे? इशायाचा मुलगा कोण? जे आपआपल्या धन्याला सोडून पळतात असे पुष्कळ चाकर या दिवसात आहेत.
Then Nabal answered the servants of David, and said, Who is David? And who is the son of Jesse? Nowadays, many are the servants that have broken away, every one from the presence of his lord:
11 ११ माझी भाकर व माझे पाणी व माझ्या मारलेल्या पशूंचे मांस जे मी आपल्या मेंढरे कातरणाऱ्यांसाठी तयार केले ते घेऊन, ही जी माणसे कोठून आली आहेत हे माला माहित नाही अशांना मी द्यावे काय?”
Shall I, then, take my bread, and my wine, and my slain beasts, that I have slaughtered for my shearers, —and give unto men of whom I know not whence they are?
12 १२ मग दावीदाचे तरुण आपल्या वाटेने परत गेले आणि माघारे येऊन त्यांनी हे सर्व शब्द त्यास जसेच्या तसे सांगितले.
So the young men of David turned away for their journey, —and came back, and drew near, and told him, according to all these words.
13 १३ तेव्हा दावीद आपल्या मनुष्यांना म्हणाला, “तुम्ही आपापली तलवार कंबरेस बांधा.” मग प्रत्येकाने आपआपली तलवार कंबरेस बांधली दावीदानेही आपली तलवार कंबरेस बांधली आणि दावीदामागे सुमारे चारशे मनुष्ये वर गेली आणि दोनशे मनुष्ये सामानाजवळ राहिली.
Then said David unto his men—Gird on you every man his sword. And they girded on them, every man his sword, and, David also, girded on his sword, —and there went up after David—about four hundred men, and, two hundred, abode by the stores.
14 १४ नाबालाची पत्नी अबीगईल हिला चाकरातील एकाने सांगितले, “पाहा दावीदाने रानातून आमच्या धन्याला सलाम सांगायला दूत पाठवले. परंतु तो त्यांच्या अंगावर धावून गेला.
But a certain one of her young men told, Abigail, Nabal’s wife, saying, —Lo! David sent messengers out of the wilderness to bless our lord, and he treated them with contempt.
15 १५ ती माणसे तर आम्हाशी फार चांगली वागली; त्यांनी आम्हास काही उपद्रव केला नाही; जितके दिवस आम्ही रानात त्यांच्याबरोबर राहिलो तितके दिवस आमची काही हानी झाली नाही.
But, the men, were exceeding good to us, —and we were not harmed, neither missed we, anything, all the days we went to and fro with them, while we were in the fields:
A wall, became they unto us, both by night and by day, all the days we were with them, tending the flock.
17 १७ तर आता तू काय करणार हे समजून विचार कर कारण आमच्या धन्यावर व त्याच्या सर्व घरावर वाईट येण्याचे ठरले आहे; कारण त्याच्याशी कोणाच्याने बोलवत नाही एवढा तो वाईट आहे.”
Now, therefore, know thou, and see, what thou canst do, for mischief is determined against our lord, and against all his household, —but, he, is such an abandoned man, that one cannot speak unto him.
18 १८ अबीगईलेने घाई करून दोनशे भाकरी व द्राक्षरसाचे दोन बुधले व शिजवून तयार केलेली पाच मेंढरे व पाच मापे हुरडा व खिसमिसाचे शंभर घड व अंजिराच्या दोनशे ढेपा ही घेतली व गाढवावर लादली.
Then Abigail hastened—and took two hundred loaves, and two skins of wine, and five sheep made ready, and five measures of parched corn, and a hundred cakes of raisins, and two hundred cakes of figs, —and put them on the asses.
19 १९ तिने आपल्या चाकरांना म्हटले, “माझ्यापुढे चला पाहा मी तुमच्यामागून येते.” परंतु तिने आपला पती नाबाल याला काही सांगितले नाही.
And she said to her young men—Pass on before me, behold me coming after you; but, to her husband, Nabal, told she nothing.
20 २० मग असे झाले की, ती आपल्या गाढवावर बसून डोंगराच्या कडेने जात असता पाहा दावीद व त्याची माणसे समोरून येत होती आणि त्यांना ती भेटली.
And so it was, as she was riding on her ass, and descending within the covert of the hill, lo! David and his men, descending over against her, —so she met them.
21 २१ दावीदाने म्हटले होते की, “रानात त्यांचे जे होते त्या सर्वांतले हरवले नाही असे मी त्यांचे राखले ते व्यर्थ गेले; माझ्याशी बऱ्याची त्याने वाईटाने परत फेड केली आहे.
Now, David, had said—Surely, in vain, did I guard all that pertained to this man in the wilderness, so that there was, nothing, missed of all that he had, —seeing he hath returned to me evil for good.
22 २२ जे काही त्याचे आहे त्या सर्वातून एकही पुरूष जर मी सकाळ उजाडेपर्यंत राहू दिला, तर परमेश्वर दावीदाला तसे व त्यापेक्षा अधिक करो.”
So may God do to David and so may he add, if I leave remaining, of all that he hath, until the morning, —so much as a little boy.
23 २३ अबीगईलेने दावीदाला पाहिले तेव्हा ती लवकर गाढवा वरून उतरली आणि दावीदापुढे उपडे पडून तिने भूमीकडे नमन केले.
And, when Abigail saw David, she hastened, and alighted from off her ass, —and fell down before David upon her face, and prostrated herself on the ground;
24 २४ तिने त्याच्या पाया पडून म्हटले, “माझ्या प्रभू अन्याय माझ्याकडे माझ्याकडेच असावा आणि मी तुम्हास विनंती करते तुमच्या दासीला तुमच्या कानी काही बोलू द्या, आणि तुम्ही आपल्या दासीचे शब्द ऐका.
yea she fell at his feet, and said—On me, even me, my lord, be the transgression, —But, I pray thee, let thy handmaid speak in thine ears, and hear thou the words of thy handmaid.
25 २५ मी तुम्हास विनंती करते, माझ्या प्रभूने त्या वाईट मनुष्यास नाबालाला मारू नये, कारण जसे त्याचे नाव तसाच आहे, त्याचे नाव नाबाल (म्हणजे मूर्ख) असे आहे. आणि त्याच्याठायी मूर्खपणच आहे. परंतु माझ्या प्रभूची तरुण माणसे जी तुम्ही पाठवली त्यांना मी तुमच्या दासीने पाहिले नाही.
Let it not be, I pray thee, that my lord regard this abandoned man—Nabal ["Base"]; For, as his name is, so, is he. Nabal, is his name, and, baseness, is with him, —But, I, thy handmaid, saw not the young men of my lord, whom thou didst send.
26 २६ तर आता माझ्या प्रभू परमेश्वर जिवंत आहे आणि तुझा जीव जिवंत आहे. रक्त पाडण्याच्या दोषापासून आणि आपल्या हाताने सूड घेण्यापासून परमेश्वराने तुम्हास आवरले आहे. तर आता जे तुमचे शत्रू व जे माझ्या प्रभूचे वाईट करायला पाहतात ते नाबालासारखे होवोत.
Now, therefore, my lord—By the life of Yahweh, and by the life of thine own soul, —seeing Yahweh hath withholden thee from coming in with bloodshed, and from saving thyself, with thine own hand, now, therefore, like Nabal, be thine enemies, and they who are making search for my lord, wrongfully.
27 २७ आता ही जी भेट तुमच्या दासीने माझ्या प्रभूकडे आणली आहे ती माझ्या प्रभूच्यामागून चालणाऱ्या तरुण मनुष्यांना द्यावी.
Now, therefore, this blessing which thy maid-servant hath brought to my lord, let it even be given unto the young men who are going to and fro at the feet of my lord.
28 २८ मी तुम्हास विनंती करते, तुम्ही आपल्या दासीच्या अपराधाची क्षमा करा; कारण माझे प्रभू परमेश्वराच्या लढाया लढत आहेत, म्हणून परमेश्वर माझ्या प्रभूचे घर खरोखर स्थिर करील; आणि तुम्ही जिवंत आहात तो पर्यंत तुमच्याठाई दुष्टाई सापडणार नाही.
Forgive, I pray thee, the trespass of thy handmaid, —for Yahweh, will certainly make, for my lord an assured house, for, the battles of Yahweh, is my lord fighting, and, wrong, shall not be found in thee, all thy days;
29 २९ जरी मनुष्ये उठून तुमच्या पाठीस लागले व तुमचा जीव घ्यायला पाहत असले, तरी माझ्या प्रभूचा जीव परमेश्वर तुमचा देव याच्याजवळ जीवांच्या समुहात बांधलेला राहील, आणि जसे गोफणीच्या खळग्यातून फेकतात, तसे तुमच्या शत्रूंचे जीव तो गोफणीतून फेकून देईल.
yea, though there hath arisen a sun of earth to pursue thee, and to seek thy life, yet shall the life of my lord be bound up in the bundle of the living, with Yahweh thy God, but, as for the life of thine enemies, he shall sling it out with the middle of the hollow of the sling.
30 ३० असे होईल की, परमेश्वराने तुमच्यविषयी जे चांगले सांगितले आहे, ते सर्व तो माझ्या प्रभूचे करून तुम्हास इस्राएलाचा अधिपती नेमील.
And it shall be, when Yahweh shall do for my lord, according to all the good that he hath spoken concerning thee, —and shall put thee in charge as leader over Israel,
31 ३१ तेव्हा माझ्या प्रभूने विनाकारण रक्त पाडले व सूड घेतला ह्याबद्दल तुम्हास खेद होणार नाही किंवा मनाचा संताप माझ्या प्रभूला होणार नाही. आणि परमेश्वर माझ्या प्रभूचे बरे करील तेव्हा तुम्ही आपल्या दासीचे स्मरण करा.”
then shall this not become to thee a staggering and stumbling of heart, unto my lord—that thou didst either shed blood without need, or that the hand of my lord saved himself. And, when Yahweh hath dealt well with my lord, then remember thou thy handmaid.
32 ३२ तेव्हा दावीद अबीगईलेला म्हणाला, “परमेश्वर इस्राएलाचा देव ज्याने तुला आज मला भेटायला पाठवले तो धन्यवादित असो.
Then said David unto Abigail, —Blessed, be Yahweh, the God of Israel, who hath sent thee this day, to meet me;
33 ३३ तुझा बोध आशीर्वादित होवो; आज रक्त पाडण्याच्या दोषापासून आणि आपल्या हाताने सूड घेण्यापासून मला जिने आवरिले ती तू आशीर्वादित हो.
and, blessed, be thy discreet judgment, and, blessed, be thou thyself, —who hast kept me, this day, from coming in with bloodshed, and from saving myself, with mine own hand.
34 ३४ कारण तुझे वाईट मी करणार होतो ते ज्याने मला करू दिले नाही तो इस्राएलाचा देव परमेश्वर जिवंत आहे; जर तू मला भेटायला लवकर आली नसतीस तर खचित नाबालाचा एक पुरूष देखील सकाळ उजाडेपर्यंत जिवंत राहिला नसता.”
Nevertheless, by the life of Yahweh, God of Israel, who hath restrained me from harming, thee, surely, except thou hadst hastened and come to meet me, there had not been left unto Nabal, by the light of the morning, so much as a little boy.
35 ३५ मग जे तिने दावीदासाठी आणले होते ते त्याने तिच्या हातातून घेतले व तिला म्हटले, “तू आपल्या घरी शांतीने जा, पाहा मी तुझी वाणी ऐकली आहे आणि तुला मान्य केले आहे.”
So David received at her hand, that which she had brought him, —and, unto herself, he said—Go up, in peace, unto thy house, see! I have hearkened unto thy voice, and accepted thy person.
36 ३६ मग अबीगईल नाबालाकडे आली आणि पाहा त्याने आपल्या घरी राजाच्या मेजवाणीसारखी मेजवाणी केली होती. तेव्हा नाबालाचे मन त्याच्या आत संतुष्ट होते कारण तो मद्य पिऊन फार मस्त झाला होता, म्हणून तिने पहाट उजाडेपर्यंत त्यास अधिक उणे काहीच सांगितले नाही.
And, when Abigail came unto Nabal, lo! he, had a banquet in his house, like the banquet of a king, and, the heart of Nabal, was glad accordingly, he having drunk deeply, —so she told him nothing—less or more, until the light of the morning.
37 ३७ मग असे झाले की, सकाळी नाबालाची नशा उतरल्यावर त्याच्या पत्नीने या गोष्टी त्यास सांगितल्या तेव्हा त्याचे मन त्याच्या आत मेल्यासारखे झाले व तो दगडासारखा झाला.
And it came to pass, in the morning, when the wine had gone out of Nabal, and his wife told him these things, that his heart died within him, and he became like a stone.
And it came to pass, in about ten days, that Yahweh smote Nabal, that he died.
39 ३९ नाबाल मेला असे दावीदाने ऐकले, तेव्हा तो म्हणाला, “ज्याने माझ्या अपमानाचा सूड नाबालावर उगवला आहे आणि ज्याने आपल्या सेवकाला वाईट करण्यापासून आवरून धरले तो परमेश्वर धन्यवादीत असो. परमेश्वराने नाबालाची दुष्टाई त्याच्याच मस्तकावर परत घातली आहे.” मग दावीदाने अबीगईलेकडे सेवकाला पाठवून तिला आपली पत्नी करण्याविषयीची गोष्ट काढली.
And, when David heard that Nabal was dead, he said—Blessed, be Yahweh, who hath maintained the plea of my reproach, at the hand of Nabal, and hath restrained, his servant, from wrong, yea, the wrong of Nabal, hath Yahweh turned back on his own head. Then sent David, and spake with Abigail, to take her to himself wife.
40 ४० आणि दावीदाने चाकर कर्मेलास अबीगईलेकडे येऊन तिला म्हणाले, “दावीदाने तू त्याची पत्नी व्हावे म्हणून आम्हांला तूझ्याकडे पाठवले आहे.”
And the servants of David came unto Abigail the Carmelitess, —and spake unto her, saying, David, hath sent us unto thee, to take thee to himself to wife.
41 ४१ तेव्हा ती उठून भूमीकडे लवून नमली व म्हणाली, “पाहा तुमची दासी माझ्या प्रभूच्या चाकरांचे पाय धुवायला चाकरीण होण्यास तयार आहे.”
And she arose, and bowed herself down with her face to the earth, —and said—Lo! thy handmaid, as serving-woman to bathe the feet of the servants of my lord.
42 ४२ मग अबीगईल घाई करून उठली व गाढवावर बसून निघाली आणि तिच्या पाच सख्या तिच्या मागे गेल्या; आणि ती दावीदाच्या सेवकाच्या मागून गेली आणि त्याची पत्नी झाली.
And Abigail hastened, and mounted, and rode upon her ass, with her five damsels that used to journey at her feet, —and she went her way after the messengers of David, and became his wife.
David took, Ahinoam also, out of Jezreel, —and, they two, became his wives.
Saul, indeed, had given his daughter Michal, David’s wife, —to Palti, sun of Laish, who was of Gallim.
