< Hakaraia 2 >
1 I maranga ake ano oku kanohi, i titiro, na ko tetahi tangata, he aho ruri i tona ringa.
Then I looked up and saw a man with a measuring line/tape.
2 Na ka mea ahau, E haere ana koe ki hea? A ka mea ia ki ahau, Ki te whanganga i Hiruharama, kia kitea ai he aha tona whanui, he aha tona roa.
I asked him, “Where are you going?” He replied, “[I am going] to measure Jerusalem, to determine how wide it is and how long it is.”
3 Na ka haere te anahera i korero ra ki ahau, a ka puta ano tetahi anahera ki te whakatau i a ia,
Then the angel who had been talking to me started to leave, and another angel walked toward him.
4 A ka mea atu ki a ia, E oma, korero atu ki te taitama nei, ki atu, Ka nohoia a Hiurharama, ka rite ki nga pa taiepakore, i te tini hoki o te tangata, o nga kararehe i roto:
That other angel said to him, “Run and tell that young man that [some day] there will be very many people and livestock in Jerusalem, with the result that there will be too many to live inside the city walls; many will [live outside] the walls.
5 No te mea ko ahau, ko Ihowa, hei taiepa ahi ahau ki a ia a tawhio noa, a ko ahau hei kororia i roto i a ia.
And Yahweh says that he [himself] will be [like] [MET] a wall of fire around [the city], and he will be there with his glory.”
6 Ho ho! rere mai i te whenua o te raki, e ai ta Ihowa; kua whakamararatia atu hoki koutou e ahau me te mea ko nga hau e wha o te rangi, e ai ta Ihowa.
Yahweh declares [to the people who were exiled to Babylonia], “Run! Flee from Babylonia [MTY], the country east [of Israel], and flee in all directions from the places where I caused you to be scattered!
7 E Hiona, kawhaki i a koe, e koe e noho mai na i te tamahine a Papurona.
You people [who previously lived in] Jerusalem and who [now] live in Babylon, flee from there!
The [armies of the] nations that [attacked you and] took away your valuable possessions have attacked those who are very precious to the Commander of the armies of angels [IDM]. So he says this about me: ‘After I have honored him and sent him to [rebuke] the nations,
9 Na, tenei ka ruru toku ringa ki a ratou, a hei taonga parau ratou ma a ratou pononga; a ka mohio koutou na Ihowa o nga mano ahau i unga mai.
[it is as though] I will strike them with my fist, with the result that those who were their slaves will [now] take back their possessions from those who caused them to become slaves.’ And when that happens, you will know that the Commander of the armies of angels is the one who sent me.”
10 Waiata, kia koa, e te tamahine a Hiona: no te mea na, kei te haere atu ahau, a ka noho ahau i roto i a koe, e ai ta Ihowa.
Yahweh says, “[You people of] Jerusalem [APO], shout and be happy, [because] I will be coming [to you] and I will live among you!”
11 A he maha nga iwi e whakauru i a ratou ki a Ihowa i taua ra, a ko ratou hei iwi maku: a ka noho ahau i roto i a koe, a ka mohio koe na Ihowa o nga mano ahau i unga mai ki a koe.
At that time, [people of] many nations will be united to Yahweh and will become his people. He will live among [all of] you; and you will know that the Commander of the armies of angels [is the one who] sent me to you.
12 A ka riro i a Ihowa a Hura hei wahi tupu mana i te whenua tapu, tera ano hoki ia ka whiriwhiri Hiruharama.
[The people of] Judah will be a very special part of his sacred country, and Jerusalem will again be the city that he has chosen.
13 Whakarongoa, e nga kikokiko katoa, i te aroaro o Ihowa: kua whakaohokia mai hoki ia i tona kainga tapu.
Everyone, [everywhere, ] should be silent in the presence of Yahweh, because he [again] will come [down] from the sacred place where he lives in heaven [to do great things for us].
