< Waiata 82 >
1 He himene na Ahapa. E tu ana te Atua i roto i te whakaminenga o te Atua, e whakawa ana i waenganui i nga atua.
A Melody of Asaph. God, hath taken his place in the august assembly, In the midst of the gods, will he judge.
2 Kia pehea ake te roa o ta koutou whakawa he, o ta koutou whakapai ki nga kanohi o te hunga kino. (Hera)
How long will ye judge perversely, And, the countenances of the lawless, uplift? (Selah)
3 Whakatikaia ta te ware, ta te pani: kia tika te whakawa mo te ngakau mamae, mo te rawakore.
Vindicate the weak and the fatherless, The oppressed and the poor, see righted;
4 Whakaorangia te ware me te rawakore; tangohia mai ratou i te ringa o te tangata kino.
Deliver the weak and the needy, Out of the hand of the lawless, make rescue.
5 Kahore o ratou matauranga, kakore hoki e mahara; e kopikopiko noa ana ratou i te pouri; e oioi ana nga turanga katoa o te whenua.
They know not, neither can they perceive, In darkness, they wander, All the foundations of the earth do shake.
6 I mea ahau, He atua koutou, he tama katoa na te Runga Rawa.
I, said, Gods, ye are, Yea, sons of the Highest, are ye all;
7 Heoi ka pera koutou me te tangata, ka mate; ka hinga, ka pera me tetahi o nga piriniha.
But indeed, like the earth-born, shall ye die! And, like one of the princes, shall ye fall!
8 E ara, e te Atua, whakawakia te whenua: mou hoki nga tauiwi katoa.
Arise! O God, judge thou the earth, For, thou, wilt inherit all the nations.
