< Waiata 66 >

1 Ki te tino kaiwhakatangi. He himene, he waiata.
To the chief Musician. A Song: a Psalm. Shout aloud unto God, all the earth:
2 Himenetia te kororia o tona ingoa, kia whai kororia te whakamoemiti ki a ia.
Sing forth the glory of his name, make his praise glorious;
Say unto God, How terrible are thy works! because of the greatness of thy strength, thine enemies come cringing unto thee.
(Hera)
All the earth shall worship thee, and sing psalms unto thee: they shall sing forth thy name. (Selah)
Come and see the works of God: he is terrible in [his] doings toward the children of men.
6 Nana i mea te moana hei tuawhenua: haere a waewae ana ratou ra roto i te awa; hari ana matou ki a ia i reira.
He turned the sea into dry [land]; they went through the river on foot: there did we rejoice in him.
7 Ko tona kawanatanga tuturu tonu i runga i tona kaha; e titiro ana ona kanohi ki nga tauiwi; kei whakakake te hunga tutu. (Hera)
He ruleth by his power for ever; his eyes observe the nations: let not the rebellious exalt themselves. (Selah)
8 Whakapaingia to tatou Atua, e nga iwi; kia rangona te reo whakamoemiti ki a ia.
Bless our God, ye peoples, and make the voice of his praise to be heard;
Who hath set our soul in life, and suffereth not our feet to be moved.
10 Kua whakamatauria hoki matou e koe, e te Atua: whakarewaia ana matou e koe, ano he hiriwa e whakarewaia ana.
For thou, O God, hast proved us: thou hast tried us, as silver is tried.
Thou broughtest us into a net, thou didst lay a heavy burden upon our loins;
Thou didst cause men to ride over our head; we went through fire and through water: but thou hast brought us out into abundance.
I will go into thy house with burnt-offerings; I will perform my vows to thee,
14 Era i puaki i oku ngutu, i korerotia e toku mangai i ahau e pouri ana.
Which my lips have uttered, and my mouth hath spoken, when I was in trouble.
15 Ka whakaekea e ahau mau nga mea momona hei tahunga tinana, ngatahi ano me te mea kakara o nga hipi toa; ka tukua e ahau he puru, he koati. (Hera)
I will offer up unto thee burnt-offerings of fatted beasts, with the incense of rams; I will offer bullocks with goats. (Selah)
16 Haere mai, whakarongo, e koutou katoa e wehi ana ki te Atua, a maku e whakapuaki tana i mea ai ki toku wairua.
Come, hear, all ye that fear God, and I will declare what he hath done for my soul.
17 I tangi toku mangai ki a ia: i whakanuia ano ia e toku arero.
I called unto him with my mouth, and he was extolled with my tongue.
Had I regarded iniquity in my heart, the Lord would not hear.
19 Nei ra he pono kua whakarongo te Atua, kua tahuri ia ki toku reo inoi.
But God hath heard; he hath attended to the voice of my prayer.
20 Kia whakapaingia te Atua, kihai nei i whakapeau ke i taku inoi, i tana atawhai hoki ki ahau.
Blessed be God, who hath not turned away my prayer, nor his loving-kindness from me!
