< Waiata 48 >
1 He waiata, he himene ma nga tama a Koraha.
A Melodious Song. For the Sons of Korah. Great is Yahweh, and worthy to be mightily praised, In the city of our God, His holy mountain.
Beautiful in elevation, the joy of all the land, Is Mount Zion, in the recesses of the north, —The city of a great king.
3 E matauria ana te Atua i roto i ona whare papai hei piringa.
God, in her palaces, is to be known as a high tower.
4 Na, huihui tahi mai ana nga kingi haere tahi atu ana ratou.
For lo! Kings—Met as appointed, Passed by together;
5 I kite ratou, miharo iho: raruraru ana, hohoro tonu atu.
They themselves, saw, So, were they amazed, Dismayed—they hurried way!
Trembling, seized them, there, Pangs. like hers who is in travail.
With an east wind, wilt thou shatter the ships of Tarshish.
8 Rite tonu ki ta matou i rongo ai, ta matou i kite ai i roto i te pa o Ihowa o nga mano, i te pa o to tatou Atua: ma te Atua e whakapumau ake ake. (Hera)
Just as we have heard, So, have we seen, In the city of Yahweh of hosts, In the city of our God, God himself, will establish her, unto times age-abiding. (Selah)
We have thought, O God, upon thy lovingkindness, In the midst of thy temple:
10 E te Atua, rite tahi ki tou ingoa te whakamoemiti mou, tae noa atu ki nga pito o te whenua: ki tonu tou matau i te tika.
According to thy Name, O God, So, be thy praise, unto the ends of the earth, With righteousness, is, thy right hand, filled.
11 Kia hari a Maunga Hiona, kia koa nga tamahine a Hura i au whakaritenga.
Let Mount Zion rejoice, Let the daughters of Judah exult, Because of thy judgments.
12 Taiawhiotia a Hiona, haere, a kopiko noa mai: taua ona pourewa.
Go round Zion, and compass her about, Reckon up her towers;
13 Maharatia ona pekerangi, tirohia ona whare papai; hei korerotanga ma koutou ki enei ake whakatupuranga.
Apply your mind to her rampart, Pass between her palaces, That ye may recount them to an after generation;
14 Ko tenei Atua hoki te Atua mo tatou ake ake: ko ia hei kaiarahi i a tatou a mate noa.
For, this God, is our God, to times age-abiding and beyond, He himself, will conduct us till death.
