Abimelech was prince over Israel three years.

Abimelech chased him, and he fled before him, and there fell many wounded, even to the entrance of the gate of the city.

So Abimelech went up to Mount Zalmon, he and all the people who were with him; and Abimelech took an axe in his hand, and cut down a branch from the trees, and took it up, and laid it on his shoulder.
