< Ehekiera 22 >

1 I puta mai ano te kupu a Ihowa ki ahau, i mea,
And the word of Yahweh came unto me, saying:
2 E whakawa ranei koe, e te tama a te tangata, e whakawa ranei koe i te pa whakaheke toto? na, whakakitea ano ana mea whakarihariha katoa ki a ia.
Thou therefore son of man, Wilt thou judge wilt thou judge the city of bloodshed; and cause her to know all her abominations?
3 A mea atu koe, Ko te kupu tenei a te Ariki, a Ihowa: He pa e whakaheke ana i te toto i waenganui ona, he mea e tae mai ai te wa mona, e hanga whakapakoko ana hei he mona, hei whakapoke i a ia!
Thou shalt say then Thus saith My Lord. Yahweh, A city shedding blood in her own midst That her time might come, Therefore hath she been making manufactured gods for herself, to be defiled.
4 Kua he koe i ou toto i whakahekea e koe, kua poke i au whakapakoko i hanga e koe; a kua meinga e koe ou ra kia tata, kua tae ano koe ki ou tau: na reira koe i meinga ai e ahau hei tawainga ma nga tauiwi, hei taunutanga ma nga whenua katoa.
Because of the blood which thou hast shed, hast thou become guilty. And with the manufactured gods which thou hast made, hast thou defiled thyself, Thus hast thou brought near thy days, And hast come unto thy years, — For this cause, have I delivered thee As a reproach to the nations, And as a derision to all the lands.
5 Ko te hunga e tata ana, ko te hunga hoki e matara atu ana i a koe, ka taunu ki a koe, e te tangata ingoa poke, kiki tonu i te tutu.
They who are near and they who are far off from thee shall shew themselves derisive over thee, — O thou of impure name, abounding in confusion!
Lo! the princes of Israel, every man for his own arm, have they been in thee, For the sake of shedding blood.
7 E whakahawea ana ratou ki te papa, ki te whaea, i roto i a koe; he mahi whakatupu kino ta ratou ki te tautangata i roto i a koe: e tukinotia ana e ratou te pani me te pouaru i roto i a koe:
Father and mother, have they despised in thee, To the sojourner, have they dealt with oppression in the midst of thee, — The fatherless and the widow, have they maltreated in thee:
8 Ko aku mea tapu whakahaweatia iho e koe, ko aku hapati whakanoatia ana e koe.
My holy things, hast thou despised, - And my sabbaths, hast thou profaned:
9 I roto i a koe nga tangata ngautuara, he mea kia whakahekea ai he toto: i roto i a koe te kai ki runga ki nga maunga: i roto i a koe te mahi puremu.
Slanders, have arisen in thee For the sake of shedding blood, - And unto the mountains, have they eaten in thee, Lewdness, have they practised in the midst of thee:
10 I roto i a koe te hura i to te papa e takoto tahanga ai: i roto i a koe te whakaiti i te wahine poke i a ia e noho wehe ana.
A father’s shame hath been uncovered in thee, Her that was unclean in her removal, have they humbled in thee;
11 He mahi whakarihariha ano ta tetahi ki te wahine a tona hoa; ko ta tetahi whakapokea iho, puremutia iho tana hunaonga; ko ta tetahi i roto i a koe, he whakaiti i tona tuahine, i te tamahine a tona papa.
And, one man, with the wife of his neighbour, hath wrought abomination, And another, hath defiled, his daughter-in-law, by shameful deed, — And another, his own sister daughter of his own father, hath humbled in thee:
12 I roto i a koe i tango ratou i te utu whakapati e whakahekea ai he toto; kua tango koe i te moni whakatupu, i nga hua ano hoki, kua haoa mai ano e koe nga taonga a ou hoa, he mea tukino, kua wareware ano koe ki ahau, e ai ta te ariki, ta Ihowa.
Bribes, have they accepted in thee, For the sake of shedding blood, -Interest and increase, hast thou accepted And thou hast overreached thy neighbour by oppression, And me, hast thou forgotten, Declareth My Lord Yahweh.
13 Nana, kua pakia e ahau toku ringa ki tau hao taonga i hao ai koe, ki ou toto ano kua heke na i waenganui i a koe.
Lo! therefore I have smitten my hand, At thine unjust gain which thou hast made— And over thy bloodshed, which they have caused in thy midst.
14 E u ranei tou ngakau, e pakari ranei ou ringa, i nga ra e mahi ai ahau ki a koe?
Can thy heart endure or can thy hands be strong in the days when I am dealing with thee? I. Yahweh have spoken and will perform.
15 Ka whakamararatia atu ano koe e ahau ki roto ki nga tauiwi, ka titaria hoki koe ki nga whenua, a ka poto i ahau tou poke i roto i a koe.
Therefore will I disperse thee among the nations, And scatter thee throughout the lands, — And will cause to cease thine impurity out of thee;
16 Ka whakanoatia ano hoki koe e koe ano i te tirohanga a nga iwi, a ka mohio koe ko Ihowa ahau.
So shalt thou be profaned in thyself, before the eyes of nations, Thus shalt thou know that, I, am Yahweh.
17 I puta mai ano te kupu a Ihowa ki ahau, i mea,
Then came the word of Yahweh unto me, saying:
18 E te tama a te tangata, ki ahau, kua rite te whare o Iharaira ki te para: he parahi ratou katoa, he tine, he rino, he mata i waenga oumu; he para hiriwa ratou katoa.
Son of man, The house of Israel hath become to me, dross, — They all are copper and tin and iron and lead in the midst of a furnace, The dross of silver, have they become.
Therefore, Thus, saith My Lord Yahweh, Because ye all are become dross, Therefore, behold me! gathering you into the midst of Jerusalem:
20 Ka rite ki te kohikohinga o te hiriwa, o te parahi, o te rino, o te mata, o te tine ki waenganui o te oumu, puhia tonutia atu te ahi ki runga hei whakarewa; ka pena ano taku kohikohi i a koe i runga i toku riri, i toku weriweri, ka waiho ano kou tou e ahau ki reira, ka whakarewaina ano koutou.
As they gather silver and copper and iron and lead and tin into the midst of a furnace, to blow upon it the fire to melt it, So, will I gather in mine anger and in mine indignation, and will let be and will melt you;
21 Ina, ka whakaminea koutou e ahau, ka pupuhi atu ano ahau ki a koutou i runga i te ahi, ara i toku riri, a ka rewa koutou i waenganui.
Yea I will gather you together, and blow upon you, with the fire of my wrath, — And ye shall be melted in the midst thereof:
22 Ka rite ki te whakarewanga o te hiriwa i roto i te oumu; ka pena ano to koutou whakarewanga i waenganui o taua oumu, a ka mohio koutou kua oti toku weriweri te riringi e ahau, e Ihowa, ki runga ki a koutou.
As silver is melted in he midst of a furnace, So, shall ye be melted in the midst thereof, — Then shall ye know that, I Yahweh, have poured out mine indignation upon you.
23 I puta mai ano te kupu a Ihowa ki ahau, i mea,
And the word of Yahweh came unto me, saying:
24 E te tama a te tangata, mea atu ki a ia, He whenua koe kihai i purea, kihai ano i whai ua i te ra o te riri.
Son of man, say to her. Thou, art a land, that is not to be rained upon, nor to receive fruitful showers, in the day of indignation.
25 E whakatakotoria ana he he e ana poropiti i waenganui i a ia, koia ano kei te raiona mangai nui e haehae ana i te tupapaku; kua pau nga wairua i a ratou; kua riro i a ratou nga taonga me nga mea utu nui; kua tini i a ratou ona pouaru i roto i a ia.
Because her princes in her midst are like a roaring lion rending prey, — Life, have they devoured Wealth and precious things, have they been wont to take, Her widows, have they multiplied in her midst.
Her priests have done violence to my law And have profaned my holy things, Between the hallowed and the common, have they put no difference, And between the unclean and clean, have they not taught men to discern, - And from my sabbaths, have they hid their eyes, So that I have been profaned in their midst.
27 Ko ona rangatira i roto i a ia, rite tonu ki te wuruhi e haehae ana i te tupapaku; he whakaheke toto, he whakangaro wairua, kia riro mai ai he taonga whanako.
Her rulers within her have been like wolves, rending prey, - In shedding blood In destroying lives, For the sake of getting dishonest gain.
28 I pania ano e ana poropiti he mea mo ratou ki te paru kihai i konatunatua; he moemoea horihori a ratou; he teka nga korero a aua tohunga tuaahu ki a ratou, i a ratou ka mea nei, Ko te kupu tenei a te Ariki, a Ihowa, i te mea kihai a Ihowa i kore ro.
And her prophets have coated it for them with whitewash, Seeing visions of falsehood And divining for them lies, Saying, Thus saith My Lord Yahweh, when Yahweh, hath not spoken.
29 Ko ta te iwi o te whenua, he whakatupu kino, he pahua; ae ra, e tukinotia ana e ratou te ware me te rawakore; e whakatupuria kinotia ana e ratou te tautangata i te mea kahore nei he take.
The people of the land have exacted oppression, and seized plunder, - Even the afflicted and the needy, have they maltreated, And the sojourner have they oppressed without justice.
Then sought I from among them, a man Who could build up a wall And stand in the breach before me in behalf of the land So that I might not destroy her, — But I found none.
Therefore have I poured out upon them mine indignation, In the fire of mine outburst, have I consumed them, — Their way, upon their own head, have I placed Declareth, My Lord Yahweh.
