< 2 Whakapapa 13 >
In year eight-teen of the king Jeroboam and he became king Abijah over Judah.
2 A e toru nga tau i kingi ai ia ki Hiruharama. Ko te ingoa o tona whaea ko Mikaia, he tamahine na Uriere no Kipea. A he whawhai ta Apia raua ko Ieropoama ki a raua.
Three years he reigned in Jerusalem and [the] name of mother his [was] Micaiah [the] daughter of Uriel from Gibeah and war it was between Abijah and between Jeroboam.
3 Na ka whakatikaia e Apia nga ngohi o tana ope, he hunga maia mo te whawhai, e wha rau mano, he hunga whiriwhiri. I whakatikaia ano e Ieropoama ana ngohi hei whawhai ki a ia; e waru rau mano ana, he hunga whiriwhiri, he marohirohi, he toa.
And he bound Abijah the battle with an army of mighty [men] of war four hundred thousand man chosen. And Jeroboam he drew up in formation with him battle with eight hundred thousand man chosen mighty of strength.
4 Na ka tu a Apia i runga i Maunga Temaraima, i te whenua pukepuke o Eparaima, a ka mea, Whakarongo mai ki ahau, e Ieropoama, koutou ko Iharaira katoa;
And he stood Abijah on [the] mountain of Zemaraim which [is] in [the] hill country of Ephraim and he said listen to me O Jeroboam and all Israel.
¿ Not [belong] to you [does] to know that Yahweh - [the] God of Israel he has given kingship to David over Israel for ever to him and to descendants his a covenant of salt.
6 Otira i whakatika ake a Ieropoama tama a Nepata, pononga a Horomona tama a Rawiri, kei te whakakeke ki tona ariki.
And he arose Jeroboam [the] son of Nebat [the] servant of Solomon [the] son of David and he rebelled on master his.
7 Na ko te huihuinga o etahi tangata wairangi, he tama na Periara, ki a ia, kua whakapakari i a ratou ki a Rehopoama tama a Horomona, i te mea he taitamariki a Rehopoama, he ngawari hoki tona ngakau, a kihai i kaha ki a ratou.
And they gathered to him men empty sons of worthlessness and they proved themselves strong over Rehoboam [the] son of Solomon and Rehoboam he was a young man and weak of heart and not he showed himself strong before them.
And now - you [are] saying to show yourselves strong before [the] kingdom of Yahweh in [the] hand of [the] descendants of David and you [are] a multitude great and [are] with you calves of gold which he made for you Jeroboam to gods.
9 He teka ianei kua peia e koutou nga tohunga a Ihowa, nga tama a Arona, ratou ko nga Riwaiti; a whakatohungatia ana e koutou etahi tohunga, pera ana koutou me nga iwi o era atu whenua?
¿ Not have you driven out [the] priests of Yahweh [the] descendants of Aaron and the Levites and you have appointed for yourselves priests like [the] peoples of the lands every [one who] comes to fill own hand his with a young bull a young one of cattle and rams seven and he will become a priest to not gods.
10 Tena ko matou, ko Ihowa to matou Atua, kihai hoki matou i whakarere i a ia. Na he tohunga a matou e minita ana ki a Ihowa, ko nga tama a Arona, ko nga Riwaiti kei ta ratou mahi.
And we Yahweh [is] God our and not we have forsaken him and [we are] priests serving Yahweh [the] descendants of Aaron and the Levites [are] in the work.
11 A e tahu tinana ana ratou ki a Ihowa, e tahu kakara reka ana i te ata, i te ahiahi: me te taro aroaro e whakatakotoria ana ki te tepu parakore; me te turanga rama koura me ona rama, hei tahu i nga ahiahi. E mau ana hoki i a matou nga mea a Ihowa, a to matou Atua; ko koutou ia kua whakarere i a ia.
And [are] making smoke to Yahweh burnt offerings in the morning in the morning and in the evening in the evening and incense of perfume and [the] row of bread on the table clean and [the] lampstand of gold and lamps its to burn in the evening in the evening for [are] keeping we [the] duty of Yahweh God our and you you have forsaken him.
And here! [is] with us at the head God - and priests his and [the] trumpets of the alarm to sound [the] battle signal on you O people of Israel may not you do battle with Yahweh [the] God of ancestors your for not you will succeed.
And Jeroboam he had caused to go round the ambush to come from behind them and they were to front of Judah and the ambush [was] from behind them.
14 A, i te tahuritanga o Hura, na e tauria ana a mua, a muri, o ratou. Na karanga ana ratou ki a Ihowa, a whakatangi ana nga tohunga i nga tetere.
And they turned Judah and there! [was] to them the battle before and behind and they cried out to Yahweh and the priests ([were] blowing a trumpet *Q(k)*) on trumpets.
And they sounded [the] battle signal [the] man of Judah and it was when sounded [the] battle signal [the] man of Judah and God he defeated Jeroboam and all Israel before Abijah and Judah.
And they fled [the] people of Israel from before Judah and he gave them God in hand their.
17 Patua iho ratou e Apia ratou ko tona iwi, he nui te parekura. Na hinga ana o Iharaira, he mea patu, e rima rau mano, he hunga whiriwhiri.
And they struck down among them Abijah and people his a striking great and they fell slain of Israel five hundred thousand man chosen.
And they were humbled [the] people of Israel at the time that and they were strong [the] people of Judah for they depended on Yahweh [the] God of ancestors their.
19 Na ka whaia a Ieropoama e Apia, a ka riro etahi o ona pa i a ia, a Peteere me ona pa ririki, a Tehana me ona pa ririki, a Eperaina me ona pa ririki.
And he pursued Abijah after Jeroboam and he captured from him cities Beth-el and daughters its and Jeshanah and daughters its and (Ephrayin *Q(K)*) and daughters its.
20 A kihai a Ieropoama i whai kaha ano i nga ra o Apia, a patua ana ia e Ihowa, mate ake.
And not he retained [the] strength of Jeroboam again in [the] days of Abijah and he struck him Yahweh and he died.
21 Otiia ka kaha haere a Apia. I tangohia ano e ia etahi wahine mana kotahi tekau ma wha, a whanau ake, e rua tekau ma rua nga tama, kotahi tekau ma ono nga kotiro.
And he strengthened himself Abijah and he took for himself wives four-teen and he fathered twenty and two sons and six-teen daughters.
22 Na, ko era atu meatanga a Apia, me ona ara, me ana kupu, kei te tuhituhi i roto i nga korero a Iro poropiti.
And [the] rest of [the] matters of Abijah and ways his and words his [are] written in [the] record of the prophet Iddo.
