1 ൧ യിസ്രായേൽ ഈജിപ്റ്റിൽനിന്നും യാക്കോബിൻ ഗൃഹം ഇതരഭാഷയുള്ള ജനതയുടെ ഇടയിൽനിന്നും പുറപ്പെട്ടപ്പോൾ

When Israel went forth out of Egypt, the house of Jacob from a people of strange language,

2 ൨ യെഹൂദാ കർത്താവിന്റെ വിശുദ്ധമന്ദിരവും യിസ്രായേൽ കർത്താവിന്റെ ആധിപത്യദേശവുമായിത്തീർന്നു.

Judah became his sanctuary, Israel his dominion.

3 ൩ സമുദ്രം അത് കണ്ട് ഓടിപ്പോയി; യോർദ്ദാൻ പിൻവാങ്ങി.

The sea saw it, and fled. The Jordan was driven back.

4 ൪ പർവ്വതങ്ങൾ മുട്ടാടുകളെപ്പോലെയും കുന്നുകൾ കുഞ്ഞാടുകളെപ്പോലെയും തുള്ളി.

The mountains skipped like rams, the little hills like lambs.

5 ൫ സമുദ്രമേ, നീ ഓടുന്നതെന്ത്? യോർദ്ദാനേ, നീ പിൻവാങ്ങുന്നതെന്ത്?

What ails thee, O thou sea, that thou flee? Thou Jordan, that thou turn back?

6 ൬ പർവ്വതങ്ങളേ; നിങ്ങൾ മുട്ടാടുകളെപ്പോലെയും കുന്നുകളേ, നിങ്ങൾ കുഞ്ഞാടുകളെപ്പോലെയും തുള്ളുന്നത് എന്ത്?

Ye mountains, that ye skip like rams, ye little hills, like lambs?

7 ൭ ഭൂമിയേ, നീ കർത്താവിന്റെ സന്നിധിയിൽ, യാക്കോബിന്റെ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ സന്നിധിയിൽ വിറയ്ക്കുക.

Tremble, thou earth, at the presence of the Lord, at the presence of the God of Jacob,

8 ൮ അവൻ പാറയെ ജലതടാകവും തീക്കല്ലിനെ നീരുറവും ആക്കിയിരിക്കുന്നു.

who turned the rock into a pool of water, the flint into a fountain of waters.
