സദൃശവാക്യങ്ങൾ 4

1 ൧ മക്കളേ, അപ്പന്റെ പ്രബോധനം കേട്ട് വിവേകം പ്രാപിക്കേണ്ടതിന് ശ്രദ്ധിക്കുവിൻ.

Hear, ye children, the instruction of a father, and attend to know intelligence;

2 ൨ ഞാൻ നിങ്ങൾക്ക് സൽബുദ്ധി ഉപദേശിച്ചുതരുന്നു; എന്റെ ഉപദേശം നിങ്ങൾ ഉപേക്ഷിക്കരുത്.

for I give you good doctrine: forsake ye not my law.

3 ൩ ഞാൻ എന്റെ അപ്പന് മകനും എന്റെ അമ്മയ്ക്ക് ഓമനയും ഏകപുത്രനും ആയിരുന്നു;

For I was a son unto my father, tender and an only one in the sight of my mother.

4 ൪ അവൻ എന്നെ പഠിപ്പിച്ച്, എന്നോട് പറഞ്ഞത്: “എന്റെ വചനങ്ങളെ ഹൃദയത്തിൽ സംഗ്രഹിച്ചുകൊള്ളുക; എന്റെ കല്പനകളെ പ്രമാണിച്ച് ജീവിക്കുക.

And he taught me, and said unto me, Let thy heart retain my words; keep my commandments and live.

5 ൫ ജ്ഞാനം സമ്പാദിക്കുക: വിവേകം നേടുക; മറക്കരുത്; എന്റെ വചനങ്ങളെ വിട്ടുമാറുകയും അരുത്.

Get wisdom, get intelligence: forget [it] not; neither decline from the words of my mouth.

6 ൬ അതിനെ ഉപേക്ഷിക്കരുത്; അത് നിന്നെ കാക്കും; അതിൽ പ്രിയം വെക്കുക; അത് നിന്നെ സൂക്ഷിക്കും;

Forsake her not, and she shall keep thee; love her, and she shall preserve thee.

7 ൭ ജ്ഞാനംതന്നെ പ്രധാനം; ജ്ഞാനം സമ്പാദിക്കുക; നിന്റെ സകലസമ്പാദ്യം കൊണ്ടും വിവേകം നേടുക.

The beginning of wisdom [is], Get wisdom; and with all thy getting get intelligence.

8 ൮ അതിനെ ഉയർത്തുക; അത് നിന്നെ ഉയർത്തും; അതിനെ ആലിംഗനം ചെയ്താൽ അത് നിനക്ക് മാനം വരുത്തും.

Exalt her, and she shall promote thee; she shall bring thee to honour when thou dost embrace her.

9 ൯ അത് നിന്റെ തലയെ അലങ്കാരമാല അണിയിക്കും; അത് നിന്നെ ഒരു മഹത്വകിരീടം ചൂടിക്കും.

She shall give to thy head a garland of grace; a crown of glory will she bestow upon thee.

10 ൧൦ മകനേ കേട്ട് എന്റെ വചനങ്ങളെ കൈക്കൊള്ളുക; എന്നാൽ നിനക്ക് ദീർഘായുസ്സുണ്ടാകും.

Hear, my son, and receive my sayings, and the years of thy life shall be multiplied.

11 ൧൧ ജ്ഞാനത്തിന്റെ മാർഗ്ഗം ഞാൻ നിന്നെ ഉപദേശിക്കുന്നു; നേരെയുള്ള പാതയിൽ ഞാൻ നിന്നെ നടത്തുന്നു.

I will teach thee in the way of wisdom, I will lead thee in paths of uprightness.

12 ൧൨ നടക്കുമ്പോൾ നിന്റെ കാലടികൾ തടസ്സം നേരിടുകയില്ല; ഓടുമ്പോൾ നീ ഇടറുകയുമില്ല.

When thou goest, thy steps shall not be straitened; and when thou runnest, thou shalt not stumble.

13 ൧൩ പ്രബോധനം മുറുകെ പിടിക്കുക; വിട്ടുകളയരുത്; അതിനെ കാത്തുകൊള്ളുക, അത് നിന്റെ ജീവനല്ലയോ.

Take fast hold of instruction, let [her] not go: keep her, for she is thy life.

14 ൧൪ ദുഷ്ടന്മാരുടെ പാതയിൽ നീ ചെല്ലരുത്; ദുർജ്ജനത്തിന്റെ വഴിയിൽ നടക്കുകയും അരുത്;

Enter not into the path of the wicked, and go not in the way of evil [men]:

15 ൧൫ അതിനോട് അകന്നുനില്ക്കുക; അതിൽ നടക്കരുത്; അത് വിട്ടുമാറി കടന്നുപോകുക.

avoid it, pass not by it; turn from it, and pass away.

16 ൧൬ അവർ ദോഷം ചെയ്തിട്ടല്ലാതെ ഉറങ്ങുകയില്ല; ആരെയെങ്കിലും വീഴിച്ചിട്ടല്ലാതെ അവർക്ക് ഉറക്കം വരുകയില്ല.

For they sleep not except they have done mischief, and their sleep is taken away unless they have caused [some] to fall.

17 ൧൭ ദുഷ്ടതയുടെ ആഹാരംകൊണ്ട് അവർ ഉപജീവിക്കുന്നു; ബലാല്ക്കാരത്തിന്റെ വീഞ്ഞ് അവർ പാനംചെയ്യുന്നു.

For they eat the bread of wickedness, and drink the wine of violence.

18 ൧൮ നീതിമാന്മാരുടെ പാതയോ പ്രഭാതത്തിന്റെ വെളിച്ചംപോലെ; അത് നട്ടുച്ചവരെ അധികമധികം ശോഭിച്ചുവരുന്നു.

But the path of the righteous is as the shining light, going on and brightening until the day be fully come.

19 ൧൯ ദുഷ്ടന്മാരുടെ വഴി അന്ധകാരംപോലെയാകുന്നു; ഏതിൽ തട്ടിവീഴും എന്ന് അവർ അറിയുന്നില്ല.

The way of the wicked is as darkness: they know not at what they stumble.

20 ൨൦ മകനേ, എന്റെ വചനങ്ങൾക്ക് ശ്രദ്ധതരിക; എന്റെ മൊഴികൾക്ക് നിന്റെ ചെവിചായിക്കുക.

My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings.

21 ൨൧ അവ നിന്റെ ദൃഷ്ടിയിൽനിന്ന് മാറിപ്പോകരുത്; നിന്റെ ഹൃദയത്തിന്റെ നടുവിൽ അവയെ സൂക്ഷിച്ചുവയ്ക്കുക.

Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thy heart.

22 ൨൨ അവയെ കിട്ടുന്നവർക്ക് അവ ജീവനും അവരുടെ മുഴുവൻശരീരത്തിനും സൗഖ്യവും ആകുന്നു.

For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh.

23 ൨൩ സകലജാഗ്രതയോടുംകൂടി നിന്റെ ഹൃദയത്തെ കാത്തുകൊള്ളുക; ജീവന്റെ ഉത്ഭവം അതിൽനിന്നല്ലയോ ആകുന്നത്.

Keep thy heart more than anything that is guarded; for out of it are the issues of life.

24 ൨൪ വായുടെ വക്രത നിന്നിൽനിന്ന് നീക്കിക്കളയുക; അധരങ്ങളുടെ വികടം നിന്നിൽനിന്ന് അകറ്റുക.

Put away from thee perverseness of mouth, and corrupt lips put far from thee.

25 ൨൫ നിന്റെ കണ്ണ് നേരെ നോക്കട്ടെ; നിന്റെ ദൃഷ്ടി മുമ്പോട്ട് തന്നെ ആയിരിക്കട്ടെ.

Let thine eyes look right on, and let thine eyelids look straight before thee.

26 ൨൬ നിന്റെ കാലുകളുടെ പാത നിരപ്പാക്കുക; നിന്റെ വഴികളെല്ലാം സ്ഥിരമായിരിക്കട്ടെ.

Ponder the path of thy feet, and let all thy ways be well-ordered.

27 ൨൭ ഇടത്തോട്ടോ വലത്തോട്ടോ തിരിയരുത്; നിന്റെ കാലുകൾ തിന്മയിൽനിന്ന് അകലുമാറാക്കുക.

Turn not to the right hand nor to the left; remove thy foot from evil.
