സദൃശവാക്യങ്ങൾ 29

1 ൧ തുടർച്ചയായി ശാസന കേട്ടിട്ടും ശാഠ്യം കാണിക്കുന്നവൻ നീക്കുപോക്കില്ലാതെ പെട്ടെന്ന് നശിച്ചുപോകും.

A reprover is better than a stiff-necked man: for when the latter is suddenly set on fire, there shall be no remedy.

2 ൨ നീതിമാന്മാർ വർദ്ധിക്കുമ്പോൾ ജനം സന്തോഷിക്കുന്നു; ദുഷ്ടൻ ആധിപത്യം നടത്തുമ്പോൾ ജനം ഞരങ്ങുന്നു.

When the righteous are praised, the people will rejoice: but when the ungodly rule, men mourn.

3 ൩ ജ്ഞാനം ഇഷ്ടപ്പെടുന്നവൻ തന്റെ അപ്പനെ സന്തോഷിപ്പിക്കുന്നു; വേശ്യകളോട് സഹവാസം ചെയ്യുന്നവനോ തന്റെ സമ്പത്ത് നശിപ്പിക്കുന്നു.

When a man loves wisdom, his father rejoices: but he that keeps harlots will waste wealth.

4 ൪ രാജാവ് ന്യായപാലനത്താൽ രാജ്യത്തെ നിലനിർത്തുന്നു; നികുതി വർദ്ധിപ്പിക്കുന്നവൻ അതിനെ നശിപ്പിക്കുന്നു.

A righteous king establishes a country: but a transgressor destroys [it].

5 ൫ കൂട്ടുകാരനോട് മുഖസ്തുതി പറയുന്നവൻ അവന്റെ കാലിന് ഒരു വല വിരിക്കുന്നു.

He that prepares a net in the way of his own friend, entangles his own feet in it.

6 ൬ ദുഷ്ക്കർമ്മി തന്റെ ലംഘനത്തിൽ കുടുങ്ങുന്നു; നീതിമാനോ ഘോഷിച്ചാനന്ദിക്കുന്നു.

A great snare [is spread] for a sinner: but the righteous shall be in joy and gladness.

7 ൭ നീതിമാൻ അഗതികളുടെ കാര്യം അറിയുന്നു; ദുഷ്ടനോ പരിജ്ഞാനം ഇന്നതെന്ന് അറിയുന്നില്ല.

A righteous man knows how to judge for the poor: but the ungodly understands not knowledge; and the poor man has not an understanding mind.

8 ൮ പരിഹാസികൾ പട്ടണത്തിൽ കോപാഗ്നി ജ്വലിപ്പിക്കുന്നു; ജ്ഞാനികൾ ക്രോധത്തെ ശമിപ്പിക്കുന്നു.

Lawless men burn down a city: but wise men turn away wrath.

9 ൯ ജ്ഞാനിക്കും ഭോഷനും തമ്മിൽ തർക്കം ഉണ്ടായിട്ട് ഭോഷൻ കോപിക്കുകയോ ചിരിക്കുകയോ ചെയ്തേക്കാം; എന്നാൽ അവിടെ ശാന്തത ഉണ്ടാകുകയില്ല.

A wise man shall judge nations: but a worthless man being angry laughs and fears not.

10 ൧൦ രക്തപാതകന്മാർ നിഷ്ക്കളങ്കനെ ദ്വേഷിക്കുന്നു; നേരുള്ളവരോ അവന്റെ പ്രാണരക്ഷ അന്വേഷിക്കുന്നു.

Bloody men hate a holy [person], but the upright will seek his soul.

11 ൧൧ മൂഢൻ തന്റെ കോപം മുഴുവനും വെളിപ്പെടുത്തുന്നു; ജ്ഞാനി അതിനെ അടക്കി ശമിപ്പിക്കുന്നു.

A fool utters all is mind: but the wise reserves his in part.

12 ൧൨ അധിപതി നുണ കേൾക്കുവാൻ തുടങ്ങിയാൽ അവന്റെ ഭൃത്യന്മാരെല്ലാവരും ദുഷ്ടന്മാരാകും.

When a king hearkens to unjust language, all his subjects are transgressors.

13 ൧൩ ദരിദ്രനും പീഡകനും തമ്മിൽ എതിർപെടുന്നു; ഇരുവരുടെയും കണ്ണ് യഹോവ പ്രകാശിപ്പിക്കുന്നു.

When the creditor and debtor meet together, the Lord oversees them both.

14 ൧൪ അഗതികൾക്ക് വിശ്വസ്തതയോടെ ന്യായപാലനം ചെയ്യുന്ന രാജാവിന്റെ സിംഹാസനം എന്നേക്കും സ്ഥിരമായിരിക്കും.

When a king judges the poor in truth, his throne shall be established for a testimony.

15 ൧൫ വടിയും ശാസനയും ജ്ഞാനം നല്കുന്നു; തന്നിഷ്ടത്തിനു വിട്ടിരിക്കുന്ന ബാലൻ അമ്മയ്ക്ക് ലജ്ജ വരുത്തുന്നു.

Stripes and reproofs give wisdom: but an erring child disgraces his parents.

16 ൧൬ ദുഷ്ടന്മാർ പെരുകുമ്പോൾ അതിക്രമം പെരുകുന്നു; നീതിമാന്മാർ അവരുടെ വീഴ്ച കാണും.

When the ungodly abound, sins abound: but when they fall, the righteous are warned.

17 ൧൭ നിന്റെ മകനെ ശിക്ഷിക്കുക; അവൻ നിനക്ക് ആശ്വാസമായിത്തീരും; അവൻ നിന്റെ മനസ്സിന് പ്രമോദം വരുത്തും.

Chasten your son, and he shall give you rest; and he shall give honor to your soul.

18 ൧൮ വെളിപ്പാട് ഇല്ലാത്തിടത്ത് ജനം മര്യാദവിട്ടു നടക്കുന്നു; ന്യായപ്രമാണം കാത്തുകൊള്ളുന്നവനോ ഭാഗ്യവാൻ.

There shall be no interpreter to a sinful nation: but he that observes the law is blessed.

19 ൧൯ ദാസനെ നന്നാക്കുവാൻ വാക്കുമാത്രം പോരാ; അവൻ അത് ഗ്രഹിച്ചാലും കൂട്ടാക്കുകയില്ലല്ലോ.

A stubborn servant will not be reproved by words: for even if he understands, still he will not obey.

20 ൨൦ വാക്കിൽ തിടുക്കമുള്ള മനുഷ്യനെ നീ കാണുന്നുവോ? അവനെക്കാൾ മൂഢനെക്കുറിച്ച് അധികം പ്രത്യാശയുണ്ട്.

If you see a man hasty in [his] words, know that the fool has hope rather than he.

21 ൨൧ ദാസനെ ബാല്യംമുതൽ ലാളിച്ചുവളർത്തുന്നവനോട് അവൻ ഒടുവിൽ ദുശ്ശാഠ്യം കാണിക്കും.

He that lives wantonly from a child, shall be a servant, and in the end shall grieve over himself.

22 ൨൨ കോപമുള്ളവൻ വഴക്കുണ്ടാക്കുന്നു; ക്രോധമുള്ളവൻ അതിക്രമം വർദ്ധിപ്പിക്കുന്നു.

A furious man stirs up strife, and a passionate man digs up sin.

23 ൨൩ മനുഷ്യന്റെ ഗർവ്വം അവനെ താഴ്ത്തിക്കളയും; മനോവിനയമുള്ളവൻ മാനം പ്രാപിക്കും.

Pride brings a man low, but the Lord upholds the humble-minded with honor.

24 ൨൪ കള്ളന്റെ പങ്കാളി സ്വന്തം പ്രാണനെ പകക്കുന്നു; അവൻ സത്യം ചെയ്യുന്നു; ഒന്നും വെളിപ്പെടുത്തുന്നതുമില്ല.

He that shares with a thief, hates his own soul: and if any having heard an oath uttered tell not of it,

25 ൨൫ മാനുഷഭയം ഒരു കെണി ആകുന്നു; യഹോവയിൽ ആശ്രയിക്കുന്നവൻ രക്ഷപ്രാപിക്കും.

[they] fearing and reverencing men [unreasonably] have been overthrown, but he that trusts in the Lord shall rejoice. Ungodliness causes a man to stumble: but he that trusts in his master shall be safe.

26 ൨൬ അനേകം പേർ അധിപതിയുടെ മുഖപ്രസാദം അന്വേഷിക്കുന്നു; മനുഷ്യന് ന്യായവിധിയോ യഹോവയിൽനിന്നു വരുന്നു.

Many wait on the favor of rulers; but justice comes to a man from the Lord.

27 ൨൭ നീതികെട്ടവൻ നീതിമാന്മാർക്ക് വെറുപ്പ്; സന്മാർഗ്ഗി ദുഷ്ടന്മാർക്കും വെറുപ്പ്.

A righteous man is an abomination to an unrighteous man, and the direct way is an abomination to the sinner.
