വിലാപങ്ങൾ 4

1 ൧ അയ്യോ, പൊന്ന് മങ്ങിപ്പോയി, നിർമ്മല തങ്കം മാറിപ്പോയി, വിശുദ്ധരത്നങ്ങൾ സകലവീഥികളുടെയും തലയ്ക്കൽ ചിതറി കിടക്കുന്നു.

How is the gold become dim! how is the most fine gold changed! The hallowed stones are cast forth at the head of every street.

2 ൨ തങ്കതുല്യരായിരുന്ന സീയോന്റെ വിശിഷ്ടപുത്രന്മാരെ കുശവന്റെ പണിയായ മൺപാത്രങ്ങളെപ്പോലെ എണ്ണിയിരിക്കുന്നതെങ്ങനെ?

The noble sons of Zion, comparable to fine gold, How are they esteemed as earthen pitchers, the work of the hands of the potter!

3 ൩ കുറുനരികൾപോലും മുല കൊടുത്ത് കുഞ്ഞുങ്ങളെ പോറ്റുന്നു; എന്റെ ജനത്തിന്റെ പുത്രിയോ മരുഭൂമിയിലെ ഒട്ടകപ്പക്ഷിയെപ്പോലെ ക്രൂരയായ് തീർന്നിരിക്കുന്നു.

The very jackals reach forth the breast; they suckle their young; But the daughter of my people is become cruel, like the ostriches of the desert.

4 ൪ മുലകുടിക്കുന്ന കുഞ്ഞിന്റെ നാവ് ദാഹംകൊണ്ട് അണ്ണാക്കോട് പറ്റിയിരിക്കുന്നു; പൈതങ്ങൾ അപ്പം ചോദിക്കുന്നു; ആരും നുറുക്കിക്കൊടുക്കുന്നതുമില്ല.

The tongue of the sucking child cleaveth to the roof of his mouth for thirst; Young children ask for bread, and no man breaketh it for them.

5 ൫ സ്വാദുഭോജ്യങ്ങളെ അനുഭവിച്ചുവന്നവർ വീഥികളിൽ പട്ടിണികിടക്കുന്നു; ധൂമ്രവസ്ത്രം ധരിച്ച് വളർന്നവർ ചാരകൂമ്പാരങ്ങളെ ആലിംഗനം ചെയ്യുന്നു.

Those that fed on dainties are desolate in the streets; Those that have been brought up in scarlet embrace the dunghill.

6 ൬ സഹായമില്ലാതെ പെട്ടെന്ന് മറിഞ്ഞുപോയ സൊദോമിന്റെ പാപത്തേക്കാൾ എന്റെ ജനത്തിന്റെ പുത്രിയുടെ അകൃത്യം വലുതാകുന്നു.

The punishment of the daughter of my people is greater than the punishment of Sodom, Which was overthrown in a moment, though no hands came against her.

7 ൭ സിയോന്റെ നായകന്മാര്‍ ഹിമത്തേക്കാൾ നിർമ്മലന്മാരും പാലിനെക്കാൾ വെളുത്തവരുമായിരുന്നു; അവരുടെ ദേഹം പവിഴത്തെക്കാൾ ചുവപ്പുള്ളതും അവരുടെ ശോഭ നീലക്കല്ലുപോലെയും ആയിരുന്നു.

Her princes were purer than snow, whiter than milk; More ruddy than coral was their body; Their visage was of sapphire.

8 ൮ അവരുടെ മുഖം കരിക്കട്ടയെക്കാൾ കറുത്തിരിക്കുന്നു; വീഥികളിൽ അവരെ കണ്ടിട്ട് ആരും അറിയുന്നില്ല; അവരുടെ ത്വക്ക് അസ്ഥികളോട് പറ്റി ഉണങ്ങി മരംപോലെ ആയിത്തീർന്നിരിക്കുന്നു.

Now darker than a coal is their countenance; they are not known in the streets. Their skin cleaveth to their bones; it is become dry, like wood.

9 ൯ വാൾകൊണ്ട് മരിക്കുന്നവർ വിശപ്പുകൊണ്ട് മരിക്കുന്നവരിലും ഭാഗ്യവാന്മാർ; നിലത്തിൽ ഫലമില്ലായ്കയാൽ വിശപ്പിന്റെ പീഡയാൽ അവർ ക്ഷീണിച്ചുപോകുന്നു.

More fortunate are the slain by the sword than the slain by famine; For these pine away, stricken through for want of the fruits of the field.

10 ൧൦ കരുണയുള്ള സ്ത്രീകൾ തങ്ങളുടെ പൈതങ്ങളെ സ്വന്ത കൈകൊണ്ട് പാകം ചെയ്തു, എന്റെ ജനത്തിൻപുത്രിയുടെ നാശത്തിൽ അവർ ആഹാരമായിരുന്നു.

The hands of tender-hearted women cooked their own children; They were their food, in the destruction of the daughter of my people.

11 ൧൧ യഹോവ തന്റെ ക്രോധം നിവർത്തിച്ച്, തന്റെ ഉഗ്രകോപം ചൊരിഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു; അവിടുന്ന് സീയോനിൽ തീ കത്തിച്ചു: അത് അതിന്റെ അടിസ്ഥാനങ്ങളെ ദഹിപ്പിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു.

Jehovah hath spent upon them his fury; he hath poured out his fierce anger; He hath kindled a fire in Zion, which hath devoured its foundations.

12 ൧൨ വൈരിയും ശത്രുവും യെരൂശലേമിന്റെ വാതിലുകൾക്കകത്ത് കടക്കും എന്ന് ഭൂരാജാക്കന്മാരും ഭൂവാസികൾ ആരും വിശ്വസിച്ചിരുന്നില്ല.

The kings of the earth believed not, nor all the inhabitants of the world, That the adversary would enter, and the enemy, within the gates of Jerusalem.

13 ൧൩ അതിന്റെ നടുവിൽ നീതിമാന്മാരുടെ രക്തം ചൊരിഞ്ഞിട്ടുള്ള പ്രവാചകന്മാരുടെ പാപങ്ങളും പുരോഹിതന്മാരുടെ അകൃത്യങ്ങളും ഹേതുവായി,

It was on account of the sins of her prophets, and the iniquities of her priests, Who shed in the midst of her the blood of the righteous.

14 ൧൪ അവർ കുരുടന്മാരായി വീഥികളിൽ ഉഴന്ന് രക്തം പുരണ്ട് നടക്കുന്നു; അവരുടെ വസ്ത്രം ആർക്കും തൊട്ടുകൂടാ.

They stumbled like blind men through the streets, polluted with blood, So that men could not touch their garments.

15 ൧൫ ‘മാറുവിൻ! അശുദ്ധൻ! മാറുവിൻ! മാറുവിൻ! തൊടരുത്!’ എന്ന് അവരോട് വിളിച്ചുപറയും; അവർ ഓടി അലയുമ്പോൾ: ‘അവർ ഇനി ഇവിടെ വന്ന് പാർക്കയില്ല’ എന്ന് ജാതികളുടെ ഇടയിൽ പറയും.

“Depart! unclean!” men cried to them. “Depart, depart, touch not!” As they fled, they stumbled; men said among the nations, “They shall dwell there no more.”

16 ൧൬ യഹോവയുടെ നോട്ടം അവരെ ചിതറിച്ചു; അവൻ അവരെ കടാക്ഷിക്കയില്ല; അവർ പുരോഹിതന്മാരെ ആദരിച്ചില്ല, വൃദ്ധന്മാരോട് കൃപ കാണിച്ചതുമില്ല.

The anger of Jehovah hath scattered them; he will no more care for them; They paid no regard to the priests, they had no compassion for the elders.

17 ൧൭ സഹായത്തിന് വ്യർത്ഥമായി നോക്കി ഞങ്ങളുടെ കണ്ണ് ഇപ്പോഴും മങ്ങുന്നു; രക്ഷിപ്പാൻ കഴിയാത്ത ജനതക്കായി ഞങ്ങളുടെ കാവൽമാളികയിൽ കാത്തിരിക്കുന്നു.

Still did our eyes fail, looking for help in vain; On our watch-tower did we watch for a nation that could not save us.

18 ൧൮ ഞങ്ങളുടെ വീഥികളിൽ നടന്നുകൂടാതവണ്ണം അവർ ഞങ്ങളുടെ കാലടികൾക്ക് പതിയിരിക്കുന്നു; ഞങ്ങളുടെ അന്ത്യം അടുത്തു, ഞങ്ങളുടെ കാലം തികഞ്ഞു, ഞങ്ങളുടെ അന്ത്യം വന്നിരിക്കുന്നു.

They laid snares for our steps, so that we could not go in our streets; Our end is near; our days are accomplished, yea, our end is come!

19 ൧൯ ഞങ്ങളെ പിന്തുടർന്നവർ ആകാശത്തിലെ കഴുകനെക്കാൾ വേഗമുള്ളവർ; അവർ മലകളിൽ ഞങ്ങളെ പിന്തുടർന്ന്, മരുഭൂമിയിൽ ഞങ്ങൾക്കായി പതിയിരുന്നു.

Swifter were our pursuers than the eagles of heaven; They chased us upon the mountains; they laid wait for us in the wilderness.

20 ൨൦ ഞങ്ങളുടെ ജീവശ്വാസമായ, യഹോവയുടെ അഭിഷിക്തൻ അവരുടെ കുഴികളിൽ അകപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു; “അവന്റെ നിഴലിൽ നാം ജാതികളുടെ മദ്ധ്യേ ജീവിക്കും” എന്ന് ഞങ്ങൾ വിചാരിച്ചിരുന്നു.

The breath of our nostrils, the anointed of Jehovah, was taken in their pits, Under whose shadow we said that we should live among the nations.

21 ൨൧ ഊസ് ദേശത്ത് പാർക്കുന്ന ഏദോംപുത്രിയേ, സന്തോഷിച്ച് ആനന്ദിക്ക; പാനപാത്രം നിന്റെ അടുക്കലേക്കും വരും; നീ ലഹരിപിടിച്ച് നിന്നെത്തന്നെ നഗ്നയാക്കും.

Rejoice and be glad, O daughter of Edom, that dwellest in the land of Uz! Yet to thee also shall the cup come! thou shalt be drunken, and shalt expose thy nakedness.

22 ൨൨ സീയോൻപുത്രിയേ, നിന്റെ അകൃത്യം തീർന്നിരിക്കുന്നു; ഇനി അവിടുന്ന് നിന്നെ പ്രവാസത്തിലേയ്ക്ക് അയയ്ക്കുകയില്ല; ഏദോംപുത്രിയേ, അവിടുന്ന് നിന്റെ അകൃത്യം സന്ദർശിക്കുകയും നിന്റെ പാപങ്ങൾ വെളിപ്പെടുത്തുകയും ചെയ്യും.

Thy punishment is at an end, O daughter of Zion! no more will he carry thee into captivity; But thine iniquity will he punish, O daughter of Edom! he will uncover thy sins.
