യോഹന്നാൻ 19
So then Pilate took Jesus and had Him flogged.
And the soldiers twisted a crown out of [poisonous] thorns and put it on His head; they also threw a purple robe around Him
3 ൩ അവർ അവന്റെ അടുക്കൽ ചെന്ന്: യെഹൂദന്മാരുടെ രാജാവേ, ജയജയ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞ് അവരുടെ കൈകൾകൊണ്ട് അവനെ അടിച്ചു.
and started saying, “Hail, O King of the Jews!” And they slapped Him repeatedly.
4 ൪ പീലാത്തോസ് പിന്നെയും പുറത്തു വന്നു: ഞാൻ അവനിൽ ഒരു കുറ്റവും കാണുന്നില്ല എന്നു നിങ്ങൾ അറിയേണ്ടതിന് അവനെ നിങ്ങളുടെ അടുക്കൽ ഇതാ, പുറത്തു കൊണ്ടുവരുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
Pilate then went out again and says to them, “Look, I am bringing him out to you so that you may know that I find no crime in him at all.”
5 ൫ അങ്ങനെ യേശു മുൾക്കിരീടവും ധൂമ്രവസ്ത്രവും ധരിച്ചു പുറത്തു വന്നു. പീലാത്തോസ് അവരോട്: ആ മനുഷ്യൻ ഇതാ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
Then Jesus came out wearing the crown of thorns and the purple robe; and Pilate says to them, “Look at the man!”
6 ൬ മുഖ്യപുരോഹിതന്മാരും ചേവകരും അവനെ കണ്ടപ്പോൾ: അവനെ ക്രൂശിയ്ക്ക, അവനെ ക്രൂശിയ്ക്ക! എന്നു ആർത്തുവിളിച്ചു. പീലാത്തോസ് അവരോട്: നിങ്ങൾ അവനെ കൊണ്ടുപോയി ക്രൂശിപ്പിൻ: ഞാനോ അവനിൽ കുറ്റം കാണുന്നില്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
Well when the chief priests and the operatives saw Him they shouted, saying, “Crucify! Crucify him!” Pilate says to them, “You take and crucify him, because I find no crime in him.”
7 ൭ യെഹൂദന്മാർ അവനോട്: ഞങ്ങൾക്കു ഒരു ന്യായപ്രമാണം ഉണ്ട്; അവൻ തന്നെത്താൻ ദൈവപുത്രൻ ആക്കിയതുകൊണ്ട് ആ ന്യായപ്രമാണപ്രകാരം അവൻ മരിക്കണ്ടതാകുന്നു എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.
The Jews answered him, “We have a law, and according to our law he ought to die, because he made himself ‘Son of God’!”
Hey, when Pilate heard this statement he was more afraid than ever!
9 ൯ അവൻ പിന്നെയും ആസ്ഥാനത്തിൽ ചെന്ന്; ‘നീ എവിടെ നിന്നു ആകുന്നു’ എന്നു യേശുവിനോടു ചോദിച്ചു. യേശു അവനോട് മറുപടിയൊന്നും പറഞ്ഞില്ല.
So back into the Praetorium he went and says to Jesus, “Where are you from?” But Jesus did not answer him.
10 ൧൦ അപ്പോൾ പീലാത്തോസ് അവനോട്: നീ എന്നോട് സംസാരിക്കുന്നില്ലയോ? എനിക്ക് നിന്നെ ക്രൂശിപ്പാൻ അധികാരമുണ്ടെന്നും, നിന്നെ വിട്ടയപ്പാൻ അധികാരമുണ്ടെന്നും നീ അറിയുന്നില്ലയോ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചതിന്
So Pilate says to Him: “Are you not speaking to me? Don't you know that I have authority to crucify you and authority to release you?”
11 ൧൧ യേശു അവനോട്: ഉയരത്തിൽനിന്ന് നൽകപ്പെട്ടില്ലായിരുന്നെങ്കിൽ എന്റെ മേൽ നിനക്ക് ഒരധികാരവും ഉണ്ടാകയില്ലായിരുന്നു; അതുകൊണ്ട് എന്നെ നിന്റെ പക്കൽ ഏല്പിച്ചവന് അധികം പാപം ഉണ്ട് എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.
Jesus answered: “You would have no authority over me at all if it had not been given to you from Above. Therefore the one who handed me over to you has the greater sin.”
12 ൧൨ ഈ വാക്കുനിമിത്തം പീലാത്തോസ് അവനെ വിട്ടയപ്പാൻ ശ്രമിച്ചു. യെഹൂദന്മാരോ: നീ ഇവനെ വിട്ടയച്ചാൽ കൈസരുടെ സ്നേഹിതൻ അല്ല; തന്നെത്താൻ രാജാവാക്കുന്നവൻ എല്ലാം കൈസരോട് മത്സരിക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ എന്നു ആർത്തു പറഞ്ഞു.
From that moment Pilate really tried to release Him; but the Jews kept shouting, saying: “If you release this fellow you are no friend of Caesar's! Whoever makes himself a king is opposing Caesar!”
13 ൧൩ ഈ വാക്കുകൾ കേട്ടപ്പോൾ പീലാത്തോസ് യേശുവിനെ പുറത്തു കൊണ്ടുവന്നു, ‘കല്ത്തളമെന്നും’ എബ്രായ ഭാഷയിൽ ‘ഗബ്ബഥാ’ എന്നും വിളിക്കപ്പെടുന്ന സ്ഥലത്തുള്ള ന്യായാസനത്തിൽ ഇരുന്നു.
Well, upon hearing this statement Pilate led Jesus outside and sat down on the judgment seat, in a place called ‘Stone Pavement’, while in Hebrew ‘Gabatha’
14 ൧൪ അപ്പോൾ പെസഹയുടെ ഒരുക്കനാൾ ഏകദേശം ആറാം മണിനേരം ആയിരുന്നു. അവൻ യെഹൂദന്മാരോട്: “ഇതാ, നിങ്ങളുടെ രാജാവ്” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
(now it was the day of preparation for the Passover; the hour was about six a.m.), and he says to the Jews, “Look at your king!”
15 ൧൫ അവരോ: അവനെ കൊണ്ടുപോക, അവനെ കൊണ്ടുപോക; അവനെ ക്രൂശിയ്ക്ക! എന്നു നിലവിളിച്ചു. നിങ്ങളുടെ രാജാവിനെ ഞാൻ ക്രൂശിക്കേണമോ എന്നു പീലാത്തോസ് അവരോട് ചോദിച്ചു; അതിന് മുഖ്യപുരോഹിതന്മാർ: ഞങ്ങൾക്കു കൈസരല്ലാതെ മറ്റൊരു രാജാവില്ല എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.
But they shouted, “Out! Out! Crucify him!” Pilate says to them, “Shall I crucify your king?” The chief priests answered, “We have no king but Caesar!”
So then he handed Him over to them to be crucified. So they took Jesus and lead Him away.
17 ൧൭ അവർ യേശുവിനെ ഏറ്റുവാങ്ങി; അവൻ തന്നത്താൻ ക്രൂശിനെ ചുമന്നുകൊണ്ടു, എബ്രായ ഭാഷയിൽ ഗൊല്ഗോഥാ എന്നു പേരുള്ള തലയോടിടം എന്ന സ്ഥലത്തേയ്ക്ക് പോയി.
And carrying His cross He went out to the place called ‘Skull’, which in Hebrew is called ‘Golgotha’;
18 ൧൮ അവിടെ അവർ അവനെയും അവനോടുകൂടെ വേറെ രണ്ടു ആളുകളെയും ഒരുവനെ അപ്പുറത്തും ഒരുവനെ ഇപ്പുറത്തും യേശുവിനെ നടുവിലുമായി ക്രൂശിച്ചു.
there they crucified Him, and two others with Him, one on either side, with Jesus in the middle.
19 ൧൯ പീലാത്തോസ് ഒരു മേലെഴുത്തും എഴുതി ക്രൂശിന്മേൽ പതിപ്പിച്ചു; അതിൽ: “നസറായനായ യേശു യെഹൂദന്മാരുടെ രാജാവ്” എന്നു എഴുതിയിരുന്നു.
Now Pilate had also written a notice, and put it on the cross; and the inscription was: JESUS THE NATSOREAN THE KING OF THE JEWS.
20 ൨൦ യേശുവിനെ ക്രൂശിച്ച സ്ഥലം നഗരത്തിന് സമീപം ആകയാൽ അനേകം യെഹൂദന്മാർ ഈ മേലെഴുത്ത് വായിച്ചു. അത് എബ്രായ, റോമ, യവന ഭാഷകളിൽ എഴുതിയിരുന്നു.
So many of the Jews read this notice, because the place where Jesus was crucified was near the city; further, it was written in Hebrew, Greek and Latin!
21 ൨൧ ആകയാൽ യെഹൂദന്മാരുടെ മുഖ്യപുരോഹിതന്മാർ പീലാത്തോസിനോട്: യെഹൂദന്മാരുടെ രാജാവ് എന്നല്ല, ഞാൻ യെഹൂദന്മാരുടെ രാജാവ് എന്നു അവൻ പറഞ്ഞു എന്നത്രേ എഴുതേണ്ടത് എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
So the chief priests of the Jews said to Pilate, “Don't write, ‘The king of the Jews’, but that the fellow said, ‘I am the king of the Jews.’”
Pilate answered, “What I have written, I have written!”
23 ൨൩ പടയാളികൾ യേശുവിനെ ക്രൂശിച്ചശേഷം അവന്റെ വസ്ത്രം എടുത്തു ഓരോ പടയാളിക്ക് ഓരോ പങ്കായിട്ട് നാല് പങ്കാക്കി; അങ്കിയും എടുത്തു; അങ്കിയോ തുന്നൽ ഇല്ലാതെ മേൽതൊട്ട് മുഴുവനും നെയ്തതായിരുന്നു.
Now when the soldiers had crucified Jesus they took His clothes and made four parts, a part for each soldier. They also took His tunic, but the tunic was seamless, woven in one piece from the top.
24 ൨൪ ഇതു കീറരുത്; ആർക്ക് വരും എന്നു ചീട്ടിടുക എന്നു അവർ തമ്മിൽ പറഞ്ഞു. “എന്റെ വസ്ത്രം അവർ പകുത്തെടുത്തു എന്റെ അങ്കിക്കായി ചീട്ടിട്ടു” എന്നുള്ള തിരുവെഴുത്തിന് ഇതിനാൽ നിവൃത്തിവന്നു. പടയാളികൾ ഇങ്ങനെ ഒക്കെയും ചെയ്തു.
So they said among themselves, “Let's not rip it, but toss for it, to see whose it will be,” so that the Scripture might be fulfilled which says: “They divided my clothes among themselves, and for my clothing they cast a lot.” That is why the soldiers did these things.
25 ൨൫ യേശുവിന്റെ ക്രൂശിനരികെ അവന്റെ അമ്മയും അമ്മയുടെ സഹോദരിയും ക്ലെയോപ്പാവിന്റെ ഭാര്യ മറിയയും മഗ്ദലക്കാരത്തി മറിയയും നിന്നിരുന്നു.
Now Jesus' mother and her sister, Mary of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene were standing by His cross.
26 ൨൬ യേശു തന്റെ അമ്മയും താൻ സ്നേഹിച്ച ശിഷ്യനും നില്ക്കുന്നതു കണ്ടിട്ട്: സ്ത്രീയേ, ഇതാ നിന്റെ മകൻ എന്നു അമ്മയോട് പറഞ്ഞു.
So Jesus, seeing His mother, and the disciple whom He loved standing by, He says to His mother, “Woman, there is your son!”
27 ൨൭ പിന്നെ ശിഷ്യനോട്: ഇതാ നിന്റെ അമ്മ എന്നും പറഞ്ഞു. ആ നാഴികമുതൽ ആ ശിഷ്യൻ അവളെ തന്റെ വീട്ടിൽ കൈക്കൊണ്ട്.
Then He says to the disciple, “There is your mother!” And from that hour the disciple took her into his home.
28 ൨൮ അതിന്‍റെശേഷം സകലവും തികഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു യേശു അറിഞ്ഞിട്ട് തിരുവെഴുത്തുകൾ നിവൃത്തിയാകുംവണ്ണം: “എനിക്ക് ദാഹിക്കുന്നു” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
After this, knowing that everything was now accomplished so that the Scripture might be fulfilled, Jesus says, “I'm thirsty!”
29 ൨൯ അവിടെ പുളിച്ച വീഞ്ഞ് നിറഞ്ഞൊരു പാത്രം വെച്ചിട്ടുണ്ടായിരുന്നു; അവർ ഒരു സ്പോങ്ങ് പുളിച്ച വീഞ്ഞ് നിറച്ച് ഈസോപ്പുതണ്ടിന്മേൽ ആക്കി അവന്റെ വായോട് അടുപ്പിച്ചു.
Now a vessel full of sour wine was sitting there; so they filled a sponge with sour wine, placed it on a hyssop, and put it to His mouth.
30 ൩൦ യേശു പുളിച്ച വീഞ്ഞ് കുടിച്ചശേഷം: “ഇത് നിവൃത്തിയായിരിക്കുന്നു” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു തല ചായ്‌ച്ച് ആത്മാവിനെ ഏല്പിച്ചുകൊടുത്തു.
Then, when He had received the sour wine, Jesus said, “Paid in full!” And bowing His head He dismissed His spirit.
31 ൩൧ അന്ന് ഒരുക്കനാളും ആ ശബ്ബത്ത് നാൾ വലിയതും ആകകൊണ്ട് ശരീരങ്ങൾ ശബ്ബത്തിൽ ക്രൂശിന്മേൽ ഇരിക്കരുത് എന്നുവച്ച് അവരുടെ കാലുകൾ ഒടിച്ച് ശരീരങ്ങൾ താഴെയിറക്കേണം എന്നു യെഹൂദന്മാർ പീലാത്തോസിനോട് അപേക്ഷിച്ചു.
Now then, because it was Preparation Day, so that the bodies should not remain on the cross on the Sabbath (for that Sabbath was a high day), the Jews requested Pilate that their legs might be broken and they be removed.
32 ൩൨ ആകയാൽ പടയാളികൾ വന്നു ഒന്നാമത്തവന്റെയും യേശുവിനോടുകൂടെ ക്രൂശിക്കപ്പെട്ട മറ്റവന്റെയും കാലുകൾ ഒടിച്ചു.
Then the soldiers came and broke the legs of the first man and of the other one who had been crucified with Him.
33 ൩൩ അവർ യേശുവിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ വന്നപ്പോൾ, അവൻ മരിച്ചുകഴിഞ്ഞിരുന്നു എന്നു കാൺകയാൽ അവന്റെ കാലുകൾ ഒടിച്ചില്ല.
But upon coming to Jesus, they did not break His legs, since they saw that He had already died.
34 ൩൪ എങ്കിലും പടയാളികളിൽ ഒരുവൻ കുന്തംകൊണ്ട് അവന്റെ വിലാപ്പുറത്ത് കുത്തി; ഉടനെ രക്തവും വെള്ളവും പുറപ്പെട്ടു.
But one of the soldiers pierced His side with a spear, and immediately blood and water came out.
35 ൩൫ ഇതു കണ്ടവൻ സാക്ഷ്യം പറഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു; അവന്റെ സാക്ഷ്യം സത്യം ആകുന്നു; നിങ്ങളും വിശ്വസിക്കേണ്ടതിന് താൻ സത്യം പറയുന്നു എന്നു അവൻ അറിയുന്നു.
And the one who saw has testified, and his testimony is true (yes, he knows he is telling the truth), so that you may believe.
36 ൩൬ “അവന്റെ ഒരു അസ്ഥിയും ഒടിഞ്ഞുപോകയില്ല” എന്നുള്ള തിരുവെഴുത്ത് നിവൃത്തിയാകേണ്ടതിന് ഇതു സംഭവിച്ചു.
Because these things happened so that the Scripture should be fulfilled: “Not a bone of His will be broken.”
And again another Scripture says: “They will look on Him whom they pierced.”
38 ൩൮ അനന്തരം, യെഹൂദന്മാരെ പേടിച്ചിട്ട് രഹസ്യത്തിൽ യേശുവിന്റെ ഒരു ശിഷ്യനായിരുന്ന അരിമത്ഥ്യയിലെ യോസഫ് യേശുവിന്റെ ശരീരം എടുത്തു കൊണ്ടുപോകുവാൻ പീലാത്തോസിനോട് അനുവാദം ചോദിച്ചു. പീലാത്തോസ് അനുവദിച്ചപ്പോൾ അവൻ വന്നു അവന്റെ ശരീരം എടുത്തു.
After these things Joseph, the one from Arimathea (being a disciple of Jesus, but secretly for fear of the Jews), requested Pilate that he might remove the body of Jesus; and Pilate gave permission. So he came and removed Jesus' body.
39 ൩൯ യേശുവിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ ആദ്യം രാത്രിയിൽ വന്ന നിക്കോദെമോസും ഏകദേശം നൂറു റാത്തൽ മൂറും അകിലും കൊണ്ടുള്ള ഒരു കൂട്ട് കൊണ്ടുവന്നു.
Now Nicodemus also came (the one who at first came to Jesus by night), bringing a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about a hundred pounds.
40 ൪൦ അവർ യേശുവിന്റെ ശരീരം എടുത്തു യെഹൂദന്മാർ ശവം അടക്കുന്ന മര്യാദപ്രകാരം അതിനെ സുഗന്ധവർഗ്ഗത്തോടുകൂടെ ശീലപൊതിഞ്ഞു കെട്ടി.
Then they took Jesus' body and wrapped it in linen strips, with the aromatic spices, according to the burial custom of the Jews.
41 ൪൧ അവനെ ക്രൂശിച്ച സ്ഥലത്തുതന്നെ ഒരു തോട്ടവും ആ തോട്ടത്തിൽ മുമ്പെ ആരെയും വെച്ചിട്ടില്ലാത്ത പുതിയൊരു കല്ലറയും ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.
Now at the place where He was crucified there was a garden, and in the garden a new tomb in which no one had yet been buried.
42 ൪൨ യെഹൂദന്മാരുടെ ഒരുക്കനാൾ ആയിരുന്നതുകൊണ്ടും ആ കല്ലറ സമീപം ആയിരുന്നതുകൊണ്ടും അവർ യേശുവിനെ അതിൽ വെച്ച്.
So that is where they put Jesus, because of the Jews' Preparation Day, since the tomb was nearby.
