യോഹന്നാൻ 13
1 ൧ താൻ ഈ ലോകം വിട്ടു പിതാവിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ പോകുവാനുള്ള നാഴിക വന്നു എന്നു പെസഹാ പെരുന്നാളിന് മുമ്പെ യേശു അറിഞ്ഞിട്ട്, ലോകത്തിൽ തനിക്കു സ്വന്തമായവരെ സ്നേഹിച്ചു; അവസാനത്തോളം അവരെ സ്നേഹിച്ചു.
Before the Feast of the Passover, Jesus knew that His time had come that He should depart out of this world to the Father. Having sincerely loved His own who were in the world, He sincerely loved them to the end.
2 ൨ അത്താഴം ആയപ്പോൾ പിശാച്, ശിമോന്റെ മകനായ യൂദാ ഈസ്കര്യോത്താവിന്റെ ഹൃദയത്തിൽ യേശുവിനെ ഒറ്റികൊടുക്കുവാൻ തോന്നിച്ചിരുന്നു;
Supper was finished, and the Devil had already put it into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon’s son, to betray Jesus.
3 ൩ പിതാവ് സകലവും തന്റെ കയ്യിൽ തന്നിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നും താൻ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ അടുക്കൽനിന്ന് വന്നു ദൈവത്തിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ പോകുന്നു എന്നും യേശു അറിഞ്ഞിരുന്നു.
Jesus, knowing that the Father had given everything into His hands, and that He had come from God and was going to God,
got up from supper, laid aside His outer garment, and wrapped a towel around His waist.
5 ൫ ഒരു പാത്രത്തിൽ വെള്ളം പകർന്നു ശിഷ്യന്മാരുടെ കാൽ കഴുകുവാനും അരയിൽ ചുറ്റിയിരുന്ന തുണികൊണ്ട് തുവർത്തുവാനും തുടങ്ങി.
Then He poured water into a basin and began to wash the disciples’ feet, and to wipe them with the towel that was wrapped around Him.
6 ൬ അവൻ ശിമോൻ പത്രൊസിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ വന്നപ്പോൾ അവൻ അവനോട്: കർത്താവേ, നീ എന്റെ കാൽ കഴുകുന്നുവോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
Then He came to Simon Peter, and Peter asked Him, “Lord, are You washing my feet?”
7 ൭ യേശു അവനോട്: ഞാൻ ചെയ്യുന്നതെന്തെന്ന് നീ ഇപ്പോൾ അറിയുന്നില്ല; എന്നാൽ പിന്നീട് അറിയും എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.
Jesus answered, “You don’t understand what I am doing now, but you will know after this.”
8 ൮ നീ ഒരുനാളും എന്റെ കാൽ കഴുകുകയില്ല എന്നു പത്രൊസ് പറഞ്ഞു. അതിന് യേശു: ഞാൻ നിന്നെ കഴുകാഞ്ഞാൽ നിനക്ക് എന്നോടുകൂടെ പങ്കില്ല എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു. അപ്പോൾ ശിമോൻ പത്രൊസ്: (aiōn g165)
Peter told Him, “You will never wash my feet!” Jesus answered, “If I don’t wash you, you have no part with me.” (aiōn g165)
Simon Peter said to Him, “Lord, not just my feet, but also my hands and my head!”
10 ൧൦ യേശു അവനോട്: കുളിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നവന് കാൽ അല്ലാതെ കഴുകുവാൻ ആവശ്യം ഇല്ല; അവൻ മുഴുവനും ശുദ്ധിയുള്ളവൻ; നിങ്ങൾ ശുദ്ധിയുള്ളവർ ആകുന്നു; എല്ലാവരും അല്ലതാനും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
Jesus said to him, “Someone who has bathed only needs to wash their feet, but is completely clean; and most of you are clean, but not all of you.”
11 ൧൧ തന്നെ കാണിച്ചുകൊടുക്കുന്നവൻ ആരാണെന്ന് യേശു അറിഞ്ഞിരുന്നതുകൊണ്ടാണ് നിങ്ങൾ എല്ലാവരും ശുദ്ധിയുള്ളവരല്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞത്.
For He knew who would betray Him, therefore He said, “You aren’t all clean.”
12 ൧൨ അവൻ അവരുടെ കാൽ കഴുകിയിട്ട് വസ്ത്രം ധരിച്ചു വീണ്ടും ഇരുന്ന് അവരോട് പറഞ്ഞത്: ഞാൻ നിങ്ങൾക്ക് ചെയ്തതു എന്താണെന്ന് നിങ്ങൾ അറിയുന്നുവോ?
When He had washed their feet, He put on His outer garment and sat down again. He asked them, “Do you know what I have done to you?
13 ൧൩ നിങ്ങൾ എന്നെ ഗുരുവെന്നും കർത്താവെന്നും വിളിക്കുന്നു; ഞാൻ അങ്ങനെ ആകകൊണ്ട് നിങ്ങൾ പറയുന്നത് ശരി.
You call me Teacher and Lord, and you are right in saying so, for so I am.
14 ൧൪ കർത്താവും ഗുരുവുമായ ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളുടെ കാൽ കഴുകി എങ്കിൽ നിങ്ങളും തമ്മിൽതമ്മിൽ കാൽ കഴുകേണ്ടതാകുന്നു.
If I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet.
I have given you an example, that you should also do as I have done to you.
16 ൧൬ ആമേൻ, ആമേൻ, ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളോടു പറയുന്നു: ദാസൻ യജമാനനേക്കാൾ വലിയവൻ അല്ല; അയയ്ക്കപ്പെട്ടവൻ തന്നെ അയച്ചവനെക്കാൾ വലിയവനുമല്ല.
Most assuredly, I tell you, a servant isn’t greater than his master, nor is he who is sent greater than he who sent him.
If you know these things, you are blessed if you do them.
18 ൧൮ ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളെ എല്ലാവരെയും കുറിച്ച് പറയുന്നില്ല; ഞാൻ തിരഞ്ഞെടുത്തവരെ ഞാൻ അറിയുന്നു; എന്നാൽ “എന്റെ അപ്പം തിന്നുന്നവൻ എന്റെ നേരെ കുതികാൽ ഉയർത്തിയിരിക്കുന്നു” എന്നുള്ള തിരുവെഴുത്തിന് നിവൃത്തി വരേണ്ടതിനാകുന്നു ഞാൻ ഇതു പറയുന്നത്.
I’m not talking about all of you. I know who I have chosen; but this is to fulfill the Scripture, ‘He who eats bread with me has lifted up his heel against me.’
19 ൧൯ അത് സംഭവിക്കുമ്പോൾ “ഞാൻ ആകുന്നു” എന്നു നിങ്ങൾ വിശ്വസിക്കേണ്ടതിന് ഞാൻ ഇപ്പോൾ അത് സംഭവിക്കുംമുമ്പെ നിങ്ങളോടു പറയുന്നു.
Now I tell you before it happens, that when it does happen, you may believe that I AM.
20 ൨൦ ആമേൻ, ആമേൻ, ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളോടു പറയുന്നു: ഞാൻ അയയ്ക്കുന്നവനെ കൈക്കൊള്ളുന്നവൻ എന്നെ കൈക്കൊള്ളുന്നു; എന്നെ കൈക്കൊള്ളുന്നവൻ എന്നെ അയച്ചവനെ കൈക്കൊള്ളുന്നു.
Most assuredly, I tell you, whoever receives anyone I send receives me; and he who receives me receives Him who sent me.”
21 ൨൧ ഇതു പറഞ്ഞിട്ട് യേശു ഉള്ളം കലങ്ങി: ആമേൻ, ആമേൻ, ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളോടു പറയുന്നു: നിങ്ങളിൽ ഒരുവൻ എന്നെ ഒറ്റികൊടുക്കും എന്നു സാക്ഷീകരിച്ചു പറഞ്ഞു.
When Jesus had said these things, He was troubled in spirit, and testified and said, “Most assuredly, I tell you, one of you will betray me.”
The disciples began looking at one another, perplexed about which one of them He was talking about.
One of Jesus’ disciples, who Jesus sincerely loved, was leaning against His breast.
Simon Peter therefore nodded to him to ask who He spoke about.
Then, leaning back on Jesus’ breast, he asked Him, “Lord, who is it?”
26 ൨൬ ഞാൻ അപ്പക്കഷണം മുക്കി കൊടുക്കുന്നവൻതന്നെ എന്നു യേശു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു; അപ്പക്കഷണം മുക്കി ശിമോൻ ഈസ്കര്യോത്താവിന്റെ മകനായ യൂദയ്ക്ക് കൊടുത്തു.
Jesus answered, “It is he who I will give a morsel to when I have dipped it.” Having dipped the morsel, He gave it to Judas Iscariot, Simon’s son.
27 ൨൭ അപ്പം വാങ്ങിയതിനുശേഷം സാത്താൻ അവനിൽ കടന്നു; യേശു അവനോട്: നീ ചെയ്യാനിരിക്കുന്നത് വേഗത്തിൽ ചെയ്ക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
After the morsel, Satan entered into him. Jesus therefore told him, “What you do, do quickly.”
None of those reclining at the table knew why He had said this to him.
29 ൨൯ പണസഞ്ചി യൂദയുടെ പക്കൽ ആകയാൽ പെരുന്നാളിന് നമുക്ക് ആവശ്യമുള്ളതു വാങ്ങുവാനോ ദരിദ്രർക്ക് വല്ലതും കൊടുക്കുവാനോ യേശു അവനോട് കല്പിക്കുന്നു എന്നു ചിലർക്കു തോന്നി.
Some were supposing, because Judas had the money box, that Jesus was saying to him, “Buy the things we need for the feast”; or else, that he should give something to the poor.
Having received the morsel, he went out immediately. It was night.
31 ൩൧ അവൻ പോയശേഷം യേശു പറഞ്ഞത്: ഇപ്പോൾ മനുഷ്യപുത്രൻ മഹത്വപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു; ദൈവവും അവനിൽ മഹത്വപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു;
When he had gone out, Jesus said, “Now the Son of Man is glorified, and God is glorified in Him.
32 ൩൨ ദൈവം അവനിൽ മഹത്വപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു എങ്കിൽ ദൈവം അവനെ തന്നിൽതന്നേ മഹത്വപ്പെടുത്തും; ക്ഷണത്തിൽ അവനെ മഹത്വപ്പെടുത്തും.
If God is glorified in Him, God will also glorify Him in Himself, and will glorify Him immediately.
33 ൩൩ കുഞ്ഞുങ്ങളെ, ഞാൻ ഇനി കുറച്ചുസമയംകൂടി മാത്രം നിങ്ങളോടുകൂടെ ഇരിക്കും; നിങ്ങൾ എന്നെ അന്വേഷിക്കും; ഞാൻ പോകുന്ന ഇടത്ത് നിങ്ങൾക്ക് വരുവാൻ കഴിയുകയില്ല എന്നു ഞാൻ യെഹൂദന്മാരോട് പറഞ്ഞതുപോലെ ഇന്ന് നിങ്ങളോടും പറയുന്നു.
Little children, I am with you a little while longer. You will look for me, and as I told the Jews, I now tell you, also, ‘Where I am going, you can’t come.’
34 ൩൪ നിങ്ങൾ തമ്മിൽതമ്മിൽ സ്നേഹിക്കേണം എന്നു പുതിയൊരു കല്പന ഞാൻ നിങ്ങൾക്ക് തരുന്നു; ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളെ സ്നേഹിച്ചതുപോലെ നിങ്ങളും തമ്മിൽതമ്മിൽ സ്നേഹിക്കേണം എന്നു തന്നേ.
I give to you a new commandment, that you sincerely love one another, even as I have sincerely loved you, so you should also sincerely love one another.
By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have sincere love for one another.”
36 ൩൬ ശിമോൻ പത്രൊസ് അവനോട്: കർത്താവേ, നീ എവിടെ പോകുന്നു എന്നു ചോദിച്ചതിന്: ഞാൻ പോകുന്ന ഇടത്തേക്ക് നിനക്ക് ഇപ്പോൾ എന്നെ അനുഗമിക്കുവാൻ കഴിയുകയില്ല; പിന്നത്തേതിൽ നീ എന്നെ അനുഗമിക്കും എന്നു യേശു അവനോട് ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.
Simon Peter asked Him, “Lord, where are You going?” Jesus answered, “Where I go, you aren’t able to follow me now, but you will follow later.”
37 ൩൭ പത്രൊസ് അവനോട്: കർത്താവേ, ഇപ്പോൾ എനിക്ക് നിന്നെ അനുഗമിക്കുവാൻ കഴിയാത്തത് എന്ത്? ഞാൻ എന്റെ ജീവനെ നിനക്ക് വേണ്ടി വെച്ചുകളയും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
Peter asked Him, “Lord, why can’t I follow You right now? I will lay down my life for You.”
38 ൩൮ അതിന് യേശു: നിന്റെ ജീവനെ എനിക്കുവേണ്ടി വെച്ചുകളയുമോ? ആമേൻ, ആമേൻ, ഞാൻ നിന്നോട് പറയുന്നു: നീ മൂന്നുപ്രാവശ്യം എന്നെ തള്ളിപ്പറയുവോളം കോഴി കൂകുകയില്ല എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.
Jesus answered, “Will you lay down your life for my sake? Most assuredly, I tell you, the rooster won’t crow until you have denied me three times.
