യിരെമ്യാവു 44

1 ൧ ഈജിപ്റ്റ് ദേശത്ത് മിഗ്ദോലിലും തഹ്പനേസിലും നോഫിലും പത്രോസ് ദേശത്തും വസിക്കുന്ന സകലയെഹൂദന്മാരെയും കുറിച്ച് യിരെമ്യാവിനുണ്ടായ അരുളപ്പാട് എന്തെന്നാൽ:

This is the message that came to Jeremiah regarding all the people of Judah living in Egypt—in Migdol, Tahpanhes, and Memphis—and in Upper Egypt.

2 ൨ “യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ ദൈവമായ സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു: “ഞാൻ യെരൂശലേമിന്മേലും സകല യെഹൂദാപട്ടണങ്ങളിന്മേലും വരുത്തിയിരിക്കുന്ന അനർത്ഥങ്ങൾ എല്ലാം നിങ്ങൾ കണ്ടിട്ടുണ്ടല്ലോ; അവ ശൂന്യമായിരിക്കുന്നു; ആരും അവയിൽ വസിക്കുന്നതുമില്ല.

This is what the Lord Almighty, the God of Israel, says: You saw the complete disaster that I brought down on Jerusalem and all the towns of Judah. You can see how today they're ruined and abandoned

3 ൩ അവരോ നിങ്ങളോ നിങ്ങളുടെ പൂര്‍വ്വ പിതാക്കന്മാരോ അറിയാത്ത അന്യദേവന്മാർക്കു ധൂപം കാട്ടുകയും, അവയെ സേവിക്കുകയും ചെയ്ത ദോഷംനിമിത്തം എന്നെ കോപിപ്പിച്ചതിനാലാണ് അങ്ങനെ സംഭവിച്ചത്.

because of the evil they did. They made me angry by burning incense and serving other gods that they hadn't ever known, and you and your forefathers hadn't known either.

4 ൪ ഞാൻ ഇടവിടാതെ പ്രവാചകന്മാരായ എന്റെ ദാസന്മാരെ നിങ്ങളുടെ അടുക്കൽ അയച്ച്: “ഞാൻ വെറുക്കുന്ന ഈ മ്ലേച്ഛകാര്യം നിങ്ങൾ ചെയ്യരുത് എന്ന് പറയിച്ചു.

I sent you all my servants the prophets time and again to warn you: “Don't do these offensive things that I hate.”

5 ൫ എന്നാൽ അവർ അന്യദേവന്മാർക്കു ധൂപംകാട്ടുക എന്ന അവരുടെ ദോഷം വിട്ടുതിരിയുവാൻ തക്കവണ്ണം ശ്രദ്ധിക്കുകയോ ചെവി ചായിക്കുകയോ ചെയ്യാതെ ഇരുന്നു.

But you refused to listen or to pay attention. You didn't stop their wickedness or burning incense in worship of other gods.

6 ൬ അതുകൊണ്ട് എന്റെ ക്രോധവും കോപവും യെഹൂദാപട്ടണങ്ങളിലും യെരൂശലേം വീഥികളിലും ചൊരിഞ്ഞു; അവ ഇന്ന് ശൂന്യവും നാശവുമായിരിക്കുന്നു”.

That's why my furious anger poured out and set fire to the towns of Judah and burned in the streets of Jerusalem, making them the abandoned ruins they still are today.

7 ൭ “ആകയാൽ യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ ദൈവമായ സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു: “നിങ്ങൾക്ക് ശേഷിപ്പായി ആരും ഇല്ലാതാകുംവണ്ണം യെഹൂദയുടെ മദ്ധ്യത്തിൽനിന്ന് പുരുഷനെയും സ്ത്രീയെയും പൈതലിനെയും മുലകുടിക്കുന്ന കുഞ്ഞിനെയും ഛേദിച്ചുകളയേണ്ടതിന്

So this is what the Lord God Almighty, the God of Israel, says: Why are you hurting yourselves so badly by removing from Judah every man, woman, child, infant, so you don't have anyone left?

8 ൮ നിങ്ങൾ വന്നുപാർക്കുന്ന ഈജിപ്റ്റിൽവെച്ച് അന്യദേവന്മാർക്കു ധൂപം കാണിച്ച് നിങ്ങളുടെ കൈകളുടെ പ്രവൃത്തികൾകൊണ്ട് എന്നെ കോപിപ്പിച്ച് നിങ്ങളെത്തന്നെ ഛേദിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞ് സകലഭൂജാതികളുടെയും ഇടയിൽ നിങ്ങൾ ശാപവും നിന്ദയും ആയിത്തീരേണ്ടതിന് നിങ്ങളുടെ പ്രാണഹാനിക്കായി ഈ മഹാദോഷം ചെയ്യുന്നതെന്ത്?

Why are you making me angry by what you do, burning incense to other gods in Egypt where you have come to live? Because if this you will be destroyed, and will you will become a curse word, an expression of condemnation among all the nations on earth.

9 ൯ യെഹൂദാ ദേശത്തും യെരൂശലേമിന്റെ വീഥികളിലും നിങ്ങളുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാർ ചെയ്ത ദോഷങ്ങളും യെഹൂദാരാജാക്കന്മാർ ചെയ്ത ദോഷങ്ങളും അവരുടെ ഭാര്യമാർ ചെയ്ത ദോഷങ്ങളും നിങ്ങൾ ചെയ്ത ദോഷങ്ങളും നിങ്ങളുടെ ഭാര്യമാർ ചെയ്ത ദോഷങ്ങളും നിങ്ങൾ മറന്നുപോയോ?

Have you forgotten the evil of your forefathers and the evil of the kings of Judah and the evil of their wives, as well as your own evil and the evil your wives, all practiced in the country of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem?

10 ൧൦ അവർ ഇന്നുവരെയും അവരെത്തന്നെ താഴ്ത്തിയില്ല; അവർ ഭയപ്പെടുകയോ ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളുടെയും നിങ്ങളുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാരുടെയും മുമ്പിൽ വച്ച ന്യായപ്രമാണവും ചട്ടങ്ങളും അനുസരിച്ചു നടക്കുകയോ ചെയ്തതുമില്ല”.

Even up to now you haven't shown any remorse or reverence. You haven't followed my rules and regulations I gave you and your forefathers.

11 ൧൧ അതുകൊണ്ട് യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ ദൈവമായ സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു: “ഞാൻ അനർത്ഥത്തിനായി, യെഹൂദയെ മുഴുവനും ഛേദിച്ചുകളയുവാനായി തന്നെ, എന്റെ മുഖം നിങ്ങൾക്ക് എതിരായി വയ്ക്കുന്നു.

So this is what the Lord Almighty, the God of Israel, says: I am determined to bring disaster and to wipe out everyone from Judah.

12 ൧൨ ഈജിപ്റ്റിൽ ചെന്നു വസിക്കുവാൻ അവിടെ പോകേണ്ടതിന് തീരുമാനിച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന യെഹൂദാശിഷ്ടത്തെ ഞാൻ പിടിക്കും; അവരെല്ലാവരും നശിച്ചുപോകും; ഈജിപ്റ്റിൽ അവർ വീഴും; വാൾകൊണ്ടും ക്ഷാമംകൊണ്ടും അവർ നശിച്ചുപോകും; അവർ ആബാലവൃദ്ധം വാൾകൊണ്ടും ക്ഷാമംകൊണ്ടും മരിക്കും; അവർ ആണയ്ക്കും ഭീതിക്കും ശാപത്തിനും നിന്ദയ്ക്കും വിഷയമായിത്തീരും.

I'm going to destroy you who are left who decided to go to Egypt to live there. You will die there, killed by the sword or by famine. Whoever you are, from the least to the most important, you're going to die by sword or by famine; and you will become a curse word, something horrible, an insult, an expression of condemnation.

13 ൧൩ ഞാൻ യെരൂശലേമിനെ സന്ദർശിച്ചതുപോലെ ഈജിപ്റ്റിൽ വസിക്കുന്നവരെയും വാൾകൊണ്ടും ക്ഷാമംകൊണ്ടും മഹാമാരികൊണ്ടും സന്ദർശിക്കും.

I'm going to punish you who live in Egypt like I punished Jerusalem, by war and famine and disease.

14 ൧൪ ഈജിപ്റ്റിൽ വന്നു വസിക്കുന്ന യെഹൂദാശിഷ്ടത്തിൽ ആരും അവർക്ക് മടങ്ങിച്ചെന്നു പാർക്കുവാൻ ആഗ്രഹമുള്ള യെഹൂദാദേശത്തേക്ക് മടങ്ങിപ്പോകുവാൻ തക്കവണ്ണം രക്ഷപെടുകയില്ല, ശേഷിക്കുകയുമില്ല; രക്ഷപെട്ടുപോകുന്ന ചിലരല്ലാതെ ആരും മടങ്ങിപ്പോകുകയില്ല”.

Nobody who is left from Judah who has gone to live in Egypt will escape or survive to return to the country of Judah. You long to go back and live there, but nobody will return except a few stragglers.

15 ൧൫ അതിന് അവരുടെ ഭാര്യമാർ അന്യദേവന്മാർക്കു ധൂപം കാട്ടിയിട്ടുണ്ടെന്ന് അറിഞ്ഞ സകലപുരുഷന്മാരും മഹാസംഘമായി അരികിൽ നിന്ന സകലസ്ത്രീകളും ഈജിപ്റ്റ് ദേശത്ത് പത്രോസിൽ താമസിച്ച സകലജനവും യിരെമ്യാവിനോട് ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞത്:

All the men who knew that their wives were burning incense to other gods, and all the women who were there, a great crowd of people, those living in Egypt and Upper Egypt all told Jeremiah,

16 ൧൬ “നീ യഹോവയുടെ നാമത്തിൽ ഞങ്ങളോടു പറഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്ന വചനം സംബന്ധിച്ച് ഞങ്ങൾ നിന്നെ കൂട്ടാക്കുകയില്ല.

“Even though you say this message is from the Lord, we're not going to listen to you”

17 ൧൭ ആകാശരാജ്ഞിക്കു ധൂപം കാട്ടുവാനും അവൾക്കു പാനീയബലി പകരുവാനും ഞങ്ങൾ നേർന്നിരിക്കുന്ന നേർച്ച ഒക്കെയും ഞങ്ങൾ നിവർത്തിക്കും; ഞങ്ങളും ഞങ്ങളുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാരും രാജാക്കന്മാരും പ്രഭുക്കന്മാരും യെഹൂദാപട്ടണങ്ങളിലും യെരൂശലേം വീഥികളിലും ചെയ്തതുപോലെ തന്നെ; അന്ന് ഞങ്ങൾക്കു വേണ്ടുവോളം ആഹാരവും സുഖവും ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; ഒരു അനർത്ഥവും നേരിട്ടിരുന്നില്ല.

In fact we're going to do everything we said we would. We'll burn incense to the Queen of Heaven and offer drink offerings to worship her as we did before, just like our fathers, our kings, and our officials who did the same things in the towns of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem. Back then we had plenty of food and we were well off and nothing bad happened to us.

18 ൧൮ എന്നാൽ ഞങ്ങൾ ആകാശരാജ്ഞിക്കു ധൂപം കാട്ടുന്നതും പാനീയബലി പകരുന്നതും നിർത്തിയ നാൾമുതൽ ഞങ്ങൾക്കു എല്ലാം ബുദ്ധിമുട്ടായി; ഞങ്ങൾ വാൾകൊണ്ടും ക്ഷാമംകൊണ്ടും നശിക്കുന്നു.

But ever since we stopped burning incense to the Queen of Heaven and pouring out drink offerings to worship her, we've lost everything and have been dying as a result of war and famine.

19 ൧൯ ആകാശരാജ്ഞിക്കു ധൂപം കാട്ടുകയും പാനീയബലി പകരുകയും ചെയ്യുമ്പോൾ, ഞങ്ങൾ അവളുടെ രൂപത്തിൽ അട ഉണ്ടാക്കുന്നതും അവൾക്കു പാനീയബലി പകരുന്നതും ഞങ്ങളുടെ ഭർത്താക്കന്മാരെ കൂടാതെയോ?”

“On top of that,” the women added, “when we burned incense to the Queen of Heaven and poured out drink offerings to worship her, did we do this without our husbands knowing about it, that we baked cakes stamped with her image and poured out drink offerings to worship her?”

20 ൨൦ അപ്പോൾ യിരെമ്യാവ് സകലജനത്തോടും, പുരുഷന്മാരും സ്ത്രീകളുമായി തന്നോട് ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞ സകലജനത്തോടും തന്നെ, പറഞ്ഞതെന്തെന്നാൽ:

Jeremiah replied to all the people, both men and women, who were responding to him,

21 ൨൧ “യെഹൂദാപട്ടണങ്ങളിലും യെരൂശലേമിന്റെ വീഥികളിലും നിങ്ങളും നിങ്ങളുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാരും രാജാക്കന്മാരും പ്രഭുക്കന്മാരും ദേശത്തുള്ള ജനവും ധൂപംകാട്ടിയത് യഹോവ ഓർത്തില്ലയോ? അവിടുത്തെ മനസ്സിൽ അതൊക്കെയും വന്നില്ലയോ?

“About that incense you burned to other gods in the towns of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem, as well as your fathers, your kings, your officials, and the ordinary people—don't you think the Lord wouldn't remember and think about it?

22 ൨൨ നിങ്ങളുടെ ദുഷ്പ്രവൃത്തികൾനിമിത്തവും നിങ്ങൾ പ്രവർത്തിച്ച മ്ലേച്ഛതനിമിത്തവും യഹോവയ്ക്കു സഹിക്കുവാൻ കഴിയാതെയായി; അതുകൊണ്ട് നിങ്ങളുടെ ദേശം ഇന്ന് നിവാസികൾ ഇല്ലാതെ ശൂന്യവും ഭീതിവിഷയവും ശാപഹേതുവും ആയിത്തീർന്നിരിക്കുന്നു.

The Lord couldn't take it anymore—the evil things you did and your disgusting acts—so your country was turned into an uninhabited wasteland, a place of horror and a curse word to others, as it still is today.

23 ൨൩ നിങ്ങൾ യഹോവയുടെ വാക്ക് അനുസരിക്കാതെയും അവിടുത്തെ ന്യായപ്രമാണവും ചട്ടങ്ങളും സാക്ഷ്യങ്ങളും പ്രമാണിച്ചു നടക്കാതെയും ധൂപം കാട്ടി യഹോവയോടു പാപം ചെയ്തിരിക്കുകയാൽ, ഇന്ന് ഈ അനർത്ഥം നിങ്ങൾക്ക് വന്നു ഭവിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

As you can see today, the disaster you've experienced happened because you burned incense to other gods and sinned against the Lord, refusing to listen to the Lord or to follow his instructions, his rules, and his regulations.”

24 ൨൪ പിന്നെയും യിരെമ്യാവ് സകലജനത്തോടും സകലസ്ത്രീകളോടും പറഞ്ഞത്: “ഈജിപ്റ്റ് ദേശത്ത് ആയിരിക്കുന്ന യെഹൂദന്മാരായ നിങ്ങൾ എല്ലാവരും യഹോവയുടെ വചനം കേൾക്കുവിൻ!

Then Jeremiah told everyone, including all the women, “Listen to the Lord's message, all you people from Judah living here in Egypt.

25 ൨൫ യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ ദൈവമായ സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു: “ആകാശരാജ്ഞിക്കു ധൂപം കാട്ടുവാനും പാനീയബലി പകരുവാനും നേർന്നിരിക്കുന്ന നേർച്ചകൾ ഞങ്ങൾ നിവർത്തിക്കും” എന്നു നിങ്ങളും നിങ്ങളുടെ ഭാര്യമാരും വായ്കൊണ്ടു പറയുകയും കൈകൊണ്ട് അനുഷ്ഠിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തത് കണ്മുമ്പിൽ ഇരിക്കുന്നു; നിങ്ങളുടെ നേർച്ചകൾ ഉറപ്പാക്കിക്കൊള്ളുവിൻ! നിങ്ങളുടെ നേർച്ചകൾ അനുഷ്ഠിച്ചുകൊള്ളുവിൻ!

This is what the Lord Almighty, the God of Israel, says: You and your wives, you've said what you're going to do, and you've done what you said! You said, ‘We're going to keep our promise to burn incense to the Queen of Heaven and to pour out drink offerings to worship her.’ So go ahead! Do what you've said! Keep your promises!

26 ൨൬ അതുകൊണ്ട് ഈജിപ്റ്റിൽ വസിക്കുന്ന സകലയെഹൂദജനമേ, യഹോവയുടെ വചനം കേൾക്കുവിൻ! ഈജിപ്റ്റിൽ വസിക്കുന്ന ഒരു യെഹൂദനും വായ്കൊണ്ട്: ‘യഹോവയായ കർത്താവാണ’ എന്നിങ്ങനെ എന്റെ നാമം ഇനി ഉച്ചരിക്കുകയില്ല എന്നു ഞാൻ എന്റെ മഹത്തായ നാമം ചൊല്ലി സത്യം ചെയ്യുന്നു” എന്ന് യഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു.

But even so, listen to what the Lord says, all you people from Judah living here in Egypt: I guarantee by all that I am, says the Lord, that none of you living in the Egypt will ever use my name or swear, ‘As the Lord God lives.’

27 ൨൭ ഞാൻ അവരുടെ നന്മയ്ക്കായിട്ടല്ല, തിന്മയ്ക്കായിട്ടത്രേ ജാഗരിച്ചിരിക്കും; ഈജിപ്റ്റിലെ എല്ലാ യെഹൂദന്മാരും വാൾകൊണ്ടും ക്ഷാമംകൊണ്ടും നശിച്ചുപോകും.

I will take care of them in the bad sense, and not in the good sense. All the people from Judah who are in Egypt will die by sword or famine, until they are wiped out.

28 ൨൮ എന്നാൽ വാളിനു തെറ്റി ഒഴിയുന്ന ഏതാനും പേർ ഈജിപ്റ്റിൽ നിന്ന് യെഹൂദാദേശത്തേക്കു മടങ്ങിവരും; ഈജിപ്റ്റിൽ വന്നുപാർക്കുന്ന ശേഷം യെഹൂദന്മാരെല്ലാം എന്റെ വചനമോ അവരുടേതോ ഏത് നിവൃത്തിയായി എന്നറിയും.

Those who manage to avoid being killed by the sword will go back to Judah from Egypt. But there will only be a few of them, and then all who were left from Judah and went to live in Egypt will know who's telling the truth—me or them!

29 ൨൯ എന്റെ വചനം നിങ്ങളുടെ തിന്മയ്ക്കായിട്ട് നിറവേറുമെന്ന് നിങ്ങൾ അറിയേണ്ടതിന് ഞാൻ ഈ സ്ഥലത്തുവച്ച് നിങ്ങളെ സന്ദർശിക്കും എന്നത് നിങ്ങൾക്ക് ഒരു അടയാളം ആകും” എന്ന് യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാട്.

This is your sign to prove that I'm going to punish you here, declares the Lord, so that you'll know for certain that my threats against you will really happen.

30 ൩൦ “ഞാൻ യെഹൂദാ രാജാവായ സിദെക്കീയാവിനെ അവന്റെ ശത്രുവും അവനു പ്രാണഹാനി വരുത്തുവാൻ നോക്കിയവനുമായ നെബൂഖദ്നേസർ എന്ന ബാബേൽരാജാവിന്റെ കയ്യിൽ ഏല്പിച്ചതുപോലെ ഞാൻ ഈജിപ്റ്റ് രാജാവായ ഫറവോൻ-ഹോഫ്രയെയും അവന്റെ ശത്രുക്കളുടെ കൈയിലും അവനു പ്രാണഹാനി വരുത്തുവാൻ നോക്കുന്നവരുടെ കൈയിലും ഏല്പിക്കും” എന്ന് യഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു.

This is what the Lord says: Look! I'm going to hand over Pharaoh Hophra king of Egypt to his enemies who are trying to kill him, in the same way that I handed over Zedekiah king of Judah to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, his enemy who was trying to kill him.”
