യിരെമ്യാവു 36
1 ൧ യോശീയാവിന്റെ മകൻ യെഹൂദാ രാജാവായ യെഹോയാക്കീമിന്റെ വാഴ്ചയുടെ നാലാം ആണ്ടിൽ യഹോവയിങ്കൽനിന്ന് യിരെമ്യാവിന് ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളപ്പാടുണ്ടായി:
And it came to pass in the fourth year of Joakim the son of Josias king of Juda, that this word came to Jeremias by the Lord, saying:
2 ൨ “നീ ഒരു പുസ്തകച്ചുരുൾ വാങ്ങി ഞാൻ യോശീയാവിന്റെ കാലത്ത് നിന്നോട് സംസാരിച്ചുതുടങ്ങിയ നാൾമുതൽ ഇന്നുവരെയും യിസ്രായേലിനെയും യെഹൂദയെയും സകലജനതകളെയുംകുറിച്ച് ഞാൻ നിന്നോട് അരുളിച്ചെയ്ത വചനങ്ങളെല്ലാം അതിൽ എഴുതുക.
Take thee a roll of a book, and thou shalt write in it all the words that I have spoken to thee against Israel and Juda, and against all the nations from the day that I spoke to thee, from the days of Josias even to this day.
3 ൩ ഒരുപക്ഷേ, യെഹൂദാഗൃഹം ഞാൻ അവർക്ക് വരുത്തുവാൻ പോകുന്ന സകല അനർത്ഥത്തെയും കുറിച്ചു കേട്ടിട്ട് ഓരോരുത്തൻ അവനവന്റെ ദുർമ്മാർഗ്ഗം വിട്ടുതിരിയുവാനും ഞാൻ അവരുടെ അകൃത്യവും പാപവും ക്ഷമിക്കുവാനും ഇടവരും”.
If so be, when the house of Juda shall hear all the evils that I purpose to do unto them, that they may return every man from his wicked way: and I will forgive their iniquity, and their sin.
4 ൪ അങ്ങനെ യിരെമ്യാവ് നേര്യാവിന്റെ മകൻ ബാരൂക്കിനെ വിളിച്ചു; യഹോവ യിരെമ്യാവിനോട് അരുളിച്ചെയ്ത സകലവചനങ്ങളും അവന്റെ വാമൊഴിപ്രകാരം ബാരൂക്ക് ഒരു പുസ്തകച്ചുരുളിൽ എഴുതി.
So Jeremias called Baruch the son of Nerias: and Baruch wrote from the mouth of Jeremias all the words of the Lord, which he spoke to him, upon the roll of a book.
5 ൫ യിരെമ്യാവ് ബാരൂക്കിനോടു കല്പിച്ചത്: “ഞാൻ തടവിലാക്കപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു; എനിക്ക് യഹോവയുടെ ആലയത്തിൽ പോകുവാൻ കഴിവില്ല.
And Jeremias commanded Baruch, saying: I am shut up, and cannot go into the house of the Lord.
6 ൬ ആകയാൽ നീ ചെന്ന് എന്റെ വാമൊഴികേട്ട് എഴുതിയ ചുരുളിൽനിന്ന് യഹോവയുടെ വചനങ്ങളെ യഹോവയുടെ ആലയത്തിൽ ഉപവാസദിവസത്തിൽ തന്നെ ജനം കേൾക്കെ വായിക്കുക; അതത് പട്ടണങ്ങളിൽനിന്നു വരുന്ന എല്ലാ യെഹൂദയും കേൾക്കെ നീ അത് വായിക്കണം.
Go thou in therefore, and read out of the volume, which thou hast written from my mouth, the words of the Lord, in the hearing of all the people in the house of the Lord on the fasting day: and also thou shalt read them in the hearing of all Juda that come out of their cities:
7 ൭ ഒരുപക്ഷേ അവർ യഹോവയുടെ മുമ്പിൽ വീണ് അപേക്ഷിച്ചുകൊണ്ട് ഓരോരുത്തൻ അവനവന്റെ ദുർമ്മാർഗ്ഗം വിട്ടുതിരിയും; യഹോവ ഈ ജനത്തിനു വിധിച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന കോപവും ക്രോധവും വലിയതാണല്ലോ”.
If so be they may present their supplication before the Lord, and may return every one from his wicked way: for great is the wrath and indignation which the Lord hath pronounced against this people.
8 ൮ യിരെമ്യാപ്രവാചകൻ തന്നോട് കല്പിച്ചതുപോലെയെല്ലാം നേര്യാവിന്റെ മകനായ ബാരൂക്ക് ചെയ്തു; യഹോവയുടെ ആലയത്തിൽവച്ച് ആ പുസ്തകത്തിൽനിന്ന് യഹോവയുടെ വചനങ്ങൾ വായിച്ചു കേൾപ്പിച്ചു.
And Baruch the son of Nerias did according to all that Jeremias the prophet had commanded him, reading out of the volume the words of the Lord in the house of the Lord.
9 ൯ യോശീയാവിന്റെ മകൻ യെഹൂദാ രാജാവായ യെഹോയാക്കീമിന്റെ വാഴ്ചയുടെ അഞ്ചാം ആണ്ടിൽ, ഒമ്പതാം മാസത്തിൽ, അവർ യെരൂശലേമിലെ സകലജനത്തിനും യെഹൂദാപട്ടണങ്ങളിൽനിന്ന് യെരൂശലേമിൽ വന്ന സകലജനത്തിനും യഹോവയുടെ മുമ്പാകെ ഒരു ഉപവാസം പ്രസിദ്ധമാക്കി,
And it came to pass in the fifth year of Joakim the son of Josias king of Juda, in the ninth month, that they proclaimed a fast before the Lord to all the people in Jerusalem, and to all the people that were come together out of the cities of Juda to Jerusalem.
10 ൧൦ അപ്പോൾ ബാരൂക്ക് യഹോവയുടെ ആലയത്തിൽ, യഹോവയുടെ ആലയത്തിന്റെ പുതിയ വാതിലിന്റെ പ്രവേശനത്തിങ്കൽ, മുകളിലെ മുറ്റത്ത്, രായസക്കാരനായ ശാഫാന്റെ മകൻ ഗെമര്യാവിന്റെ മുറിയിൽ വച്ച് ആ പുസ്തകത്തിൽനിന്ന് യിരെമ്യാവിന്റെ വചനങ്ങൾ സകലജനത്തെയും വായിച്ചു കേൾപ്പിച്ചു.
And Baruch read out of the volume the words of Jeremias in the house of the Lord, in the treasury of Gamarias the son of Saphan the scribe, in the upper court, in the entry of the new gate of the house of the Lord, in the hearing of all the people.
11 ൧൧ ശാഫാന്റെ മകനായ ഗെമര്യാവിന്റെ മകൻ മീഖായാവ് യഹോവയുടെ വചനങ്ങളെല്ലാം പുസ്തകത്തിൽനിന്ന് വായിച്ചു കേട്ടപ്പോൾ
And when Micheas the son of Gamarias the son of Saphan had heard out of the book all the words of the Lord,
12 ൧൨ അവൻ രാജഗൃഹത്തിൽ രായസക്കാരന്റെ മുറിയിൽ ചെന്നു; അവിടെ സകലപ്രഭുക്കന്മാരും ഇരുന്നിരുന്നു; രായസക്കാരൻ എലീശാമായും ശെമയ്യാവിന്റെ മകൻ ദെലായാവും അഖ്ബോരിന്റെ മകൻ എൽനാഥാനും ശാഫാന്റെ മകൻ ഗെമര്യാവും ഹനന്യാവിന്റെ മകൻ സിദെക്കീയാവും ശേഷം പ്രഭുക്കന്മാരും തന്നെ.
He went down into the king’s house to the secretary’s chamber: and behold all the princes sat there, Elisama the scribe, and Dalaias the son of Semeias, and Elnathan the son of Achobor, and Gamarias the son of Saphan, and Sedecias the son of Hananias, and all the princes.
13 ൧൩ ബാരൂക്ക് ജനത്തെ പുസ്തകം വായിച്ചുകേൾപ്പിച്ചപ്പോൾ, താൻ കേട്ടിരുന്ന വചനങ്ങളെല്ലാം മീഖായാവ് അവരോടു പ്രസ്താവിച്ചു.
And Micheas told them all the words that he had heard when Baruch read out of the volume in the hearing of the people.
14 ൧൪ അപ്പോൾ സകലപ്രഭുക്കന്മാരും കൂശിയുടെ മകനായ ശെലെമ്യാവിന്റെ മകനായ നഥന്യാവിന്റെ മകൻ യെഹൂദിയെ ബാരൂക്കിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ അയച്ചു: “നീ ജനത്തെ വായിച്ചുകേൾപ്പിച്ച പുസ്തകച്ചുരുൾ എടുത്തുകൊണ്ട് വരുക” എന്നു പറയിച്ചു; അങ്ങനെ നേര്യാവിന്റെ മകൻ ബാരൂക്ക് പുസ്തകച്ചുരുൾ എടുത്തുകൊണ്ട് അവരുടെ അടുക്കൽ വന്നു.
Therefore all the princes sent Judi the son of Nathanias, the son of Selemias, the son of Chusi, to Baruch, saying: Take in thy hand the volume in which thou hast read in the hearing of the people, and come. So Baruch the son of Nerias took the volume in his hand, and came to them.
15 ൧൫ അവർ അവനോട്: “ഇവിടെ ഇരുന്ന് അത് വായിച്ചുകേൾപ്പിക്കുക” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു; ബാരൂക്ക് വായിച്ചു കേൾപ്പിച്ചു.
And they said to him: Sit down and read these things in our hearing. And Baruch read in their hearing.
16 ൧൬ ആ വചനങ്ങളെല്ലാം കേട്ടപ്പോൾ അവർ ഭയപ്പെട്ട് തമ്മിൽതമ്മിൽ നോക്കി, ബാരൂക്കിനോട്: “ഈ വചനങ്ങളെല്ലാം ഞങ്ങൾ രാജാവിനെ അറിയിക്കും” എന്ന് പറഞ്ഞു.
And when they had heard all the words, they looked upon one another with astonishment, and they said to Baruch: We must tell the king all these words.
17 ൧൭ “നീ ഈ വചനങ്ങളെല്ലാം എങ്ങനെയാകുന്നു എഴുതിയത്? അവൻ പറഞ്ഞുതന്നിട്ടോ? ഞങ്ങളോടു പറയുക” എന്ന് അവർ ബാരൂക്കിനോടു ചോദിച്ചു.
And they asked him, saying: Tell us how didst thou write all these words from his mouth.
18 ൧൮ ബാരൂക്ക് അവരോട്: “അവൻ ഈ വചനങ്ങളെല്ലാം പറഞ്ഞുതന്നു; ഞാൻ മഷികൊണ്ട് പുസ്തകത്തിൽ എഴുതി” എന്നുത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.
And Baruch said to them: With his mouth he pronounced all these words as if he were reading to me: and I wrote in a volume with ink.
19 ൧൯ അപ്പോൾ പ്രഭുക്കന്മാർ ബാരൂക്കിനോട്: “പോയി നീയും യിരെമ്യാവും കൂടി ഒളിച്ചുകൊള്ളുക; നിങ്ങൾ എവിടെയാണെന്ന് ആരും അറിയരുത്” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
And the princes said to Baruch: Go, and hide thee, both thou and Jeremias, and let no man know where you are.
20 ൨൦ അനന്തരം അവർ പുസ്തകച്ചുരുൾ രായസക്കാരനായ എലീശാമയുടെ മുറിയിൽ വച്ചശേഷം, അരമനയിൽ രാജാവിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ ചെന്ന് ആ വചനങ്ങളെല്ലാം രാജാവിനെ ബോധിപ്പിച്ചു.
And they went in to the king into the court: but they laid up the volume in the chamber of Elisama the scribe: and they told all the words in the hearing of the king.
21 ൨൧ രാജാവ് ചുരുൾ എടുത്തുകൊണ്ട് വരുവാൻ യെഹൂദിയെ അയച്ചു; അവൻ രായസക്കാരനായ എലീശാമയുടെ മുറിയിൽനിന്ന് അതെടുത്തു കൊണ്ടുവന്നു; യെഹൂദി അത് രാജാവിനെയും രാജാവിന്റെ ചുറ്റും നില്ക്കുന്ന സകലപ്രഭുക്കന്മാരെയും വായിച്ചു കേൾപ്പിച്ചു.
And the king sent Judi that he should take the volume: who bringing it out of the chamber of Elisama the scribe, read it in the hearing of the king, and of all the princes that stood about the king.
22 ൨൨ ഒമ്പതാം മാസത്തിലെ ആ ദിവസം രാജാവ് ഹേമന്തഗൃഹത്തിൽ ഇരിക്കുകയായിരുന്നു; അവന്റെ മുമ്പാകെ നെരിപ്പോട്ടിൽ തീ കത്തിക്കൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.
Now the king sat in the winter house, In the ninth month: and there was a hearth before him full of burning coals.
23 ൨൩ യെഹൂദി മൂന്നു നാല് ഭാഗം വായിച്ചുകഴിഞ്ഞപ്പോൾ രാജാവ് എഴുത്തുകാരന്റെ ഒരു കത്തികൊണ്ട് അത് മുറിച്ച് ചുരുൾ മുഴുവനും നെരിപ്പോട്ടിലെ തീയിൽ വെന്തുപോകുംവരെ നെരിപ്പോട്ടിൽ ഇട്ടുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.
And when Judi had read three or four pages, he cut it with the penknife, and he cast it into the Are, that was upon the hearth, till all the volume was consumed with the fire that was on the hearth.
24 ൨൪ രാജാവോ, ആ വചനങ്ങളെല്ലാം കേട്ട ഭൃത്യന്മാരിൽ ആരെങ്കിലുമോ, ഭയപ്പെടുകയോ വസ്ത്രം കീറുകയോ ചെയ്തില്ല.
And the king and all his servants that heard all these words were not afraid, nor did they rend their garments.
25 ൨൫ “ചുരുൾ ചുട്ടുകളയരുതേ” എന്ന് എൽനാഥാനും ദെലായാവും ഗെമര്യാവും രാജാവിനോട് അപേക്ഷിച്ചു എങ്കിലും അവൻ അവരുടെ അപേക്ഷ കേട്ടില്ല.
But yet Elnathan, and Dalaias, and Gamarias spoke to the king, not to burn. the book: and he heard them not.
26 ൨൬ അനന്തരം ബാരൂക്ക് എന്ന എഴുത്തുകാരനെയും യിരെമ്യാപ്രവാചകനെയും പിടിക്കുവാൻ രാജാവ് രാജകുമാരനായ യെരഹ്മെയേലിനോടും അസ്രീയേലിന്റെ മകനായ സെരായാവിനോടും അബ്ദേലിന്റെ മകനായ ശെലെമ്യാവിനോടും കല്പിച്ചു; എന്നാൽ യഹോവ അവരെ ഒളിപ്പിച്ചു.
And the king commanded Jeremiel the son of Amelech, and Saraias the son of Ezriel, and Selemias the son of Abdeel, to take up Baruch the scribe, and Jeremias the prophet: but the Lord hid them.
27 ൨൭ ചുരുളും ബാരൂക്ക് യിരെമ്യാവിന്റെ വാമൊഴിപ്രകാരം എഴുതിയിരുന്ന വചനങ്ങളും രാജാവ് ചുട്ടുകളഞ്ഞശേഷം, യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാട് യിരെമ്യാവിനുണ്ടായി:
And the word of the Lord came to Jeremias the prophet, after that the king had burnt the volume, and the words that Baruch had written from the mouth of Jeremias, saying:
28 ൨൮ “നീ മറ്റൊരു ചുരുൾ വാങ്ങി യെഹൂദാ രാജാവായ യെഹോയാക്കീം ചുട്ടുകളഞ്ഞ മുമ്പിലത്തെ ചുരുളിൽ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്ന സകലവചനങ്ങളും അതിൽ എഴുതുക.
Take thee again another volume: and write in it all the former words that were in the first volume which Joakim the king of Juda hath burnt.
29 ൨൯ എന്നാൽ യെഹൂദാ രാജാവായ യെഹോയാക്കീമിനോട് നീ പറയേണ്ടത്: “യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു: ‘ബാബേൽരാജാവ് വന്ന് ഈ ദേശത്തെ നശിപ്പിച്ച്, മനുഷ്യനെയും മൃഗത്തെയും നശിപ്പിച്ചുകളയും എന്നു നീ അതിൽ എഴുതിയത് എന്തിന്’ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞ് നീ ആ ചുരുൾ ചുട്ടുകളഞ്ഞുവല്ലോ.
And thou shalt say to Joakim the king of Juda: Thus saith the Lord: Thou hast burnt that volume, saying: Why hast thou written therein, and said: The king of Babylon shall come speedily, and shall lay waste this land: and shall cause to cease from thence man and beast?
30 ൩൦ അതുകൊണ്ട് യെഹൂദാ രാജാവായ യെഹോയാക്കീമിനെക്കുറിച്ച് യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു: “അവന് ദാവീദിന്റെ സിംഹാസനത്തിൽ ഇരിക്കുവാൻ ഒരുത്തനും ഉണ്ടാവുകയില്ല; അവന്റെ ശവം പകൽ വെയിലും രാത്രിയിൽ മഞ്ഞും ഏല്ക്കുവാൻ എറിഞ്ഞുകളയും.
Therefore thus saith the Lord against Joakim the king of Juda: He shall have none to sit upon the throne of David: and his dead body shall be cast out to the heat by day, and to the frost by night.
31 ൩൧ ഞാൻ അവനെയും അവന്റെ സന്തതിയെയും ഭൃത്യന്മാരെയും അവരുടെ അകൃത്യം നിമിത്തം സന്ദർശിക്കും; അവർക്കും യെരൂശലേം നിവാസികൾക്കും യെഹൂദാപുരുഷന്മാർക്കും വരുത്തുമെന്ന് ഞാൻ വിധിച്ചതും അവർ ശ്രദ്ധിക്കാത്തതുമായ സകല അനർത്ഥങ്ങളും ഞാൻ അവർക്ക് വരുത്തും”.
And I will punish him, and his seed and his servants, for their iniquities, and I will bring upon them, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and upon the men of Juda all the evil that I have pronounced against them, but they have not heard.
32 ൩൨ അങ്ങനെ യിരെമ്യാവ് മറ്റൊരു ചുരുൾ എടുത്ത് നേര്യാവിന്റെ മകൻ ബാരൂക്ക് എന്ന എഴുത്തുകാരന്റെ കയ്യിൽ കൊടുത്തു; അവൻ യെഹൂദാ രാജാവായ യെഹോയാക്കീം തീയിൽ ഇട്ടു ചുട്ടുകളഞ്ഞ പുസ്തകത്തിലെ വചനങ്ങളെല്ലാം യിരെമ്യാവിന്റെ വാമൊഴിപ്രകാരം അതിൽ എഴുതി; അതുപോലെയുള്ള അനേകം വചനങ്ങളും ചേർത്തെഴുതുവാൻ സംഗതിവന്നു.
And Jeremias took another volume, and gave it to Baruch the son of Nerias the scribe: who wrote in it from the mouth of Jeremias all the words of the book which Joakim the king of Juda had burnt with fire: and there were added besides many more words than had been before.
