യിരെമ്യാവു 18
The word that hath been unto Jeremiah from Jehovah, saying,
2 ൨ “നീ എഴുന്നേറ്റ് കുശവന്റെ വീട്ടിലേക്കു ചെല്ലുക; അവിടെവച്ച് ഞാൻ നിന്നെ എന്റെ വചനങ്ങൾ കേൾപ്പിക്കും”.
Rise, and thou hast gone down [to] the potter's house, and there I cause thee to hear My words;
and I go down [to] the potter's house, and lo, he is doing a work on the stones,
4 ൪ കുശവൻ കളിമണ്ണുകൊണ്ട് ഉണ്ടാക്കിയ പാത്രം അവന്റെ കയ്യിൽ ചീത്തയായിപ്പോയി; എന്നാൽ കുശവൻ അതിനെ തനിക്കു യുക്തമെന്നു തോന്നിയതുപോലെ മറ്റൊരു പാത്രമാക്കിത്തീർത്തു.
and marred is the vessel that he is making, as clay in the hand of the potter, and he hath turned and he maketh it another vessel, as it was right in the eyes of the potter to make.
And there is a word of Jehovah to me, saying:
6 ൬ “യിസ്രായേൽ ഗൃഹമേ, ഈ കുശവൻ ചെയ്തതുപോലെ എനിക്ക് നിങ്ങളോടു ചെയ്യുവാൻ കഴിയുകയില്ലയോ” എന്ന് യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാട്; “യിസ്രായേൽ ഗൃഹമേ, കളിമണ്ണു കുശവന്റെ കയ്യിൽ ഇരിക്കുന്നതുപോലെ നിങ്ങൾ എന്റെ കയ്യിൽ ഇരിക്കുന്നു.
As this potter am I not able to do to you? O house of Israel, an affirmation of Jehovah. Lo, as clay in the hand of the potter, So [are] ye in My hand, O house of Israel.
7 ൭ ഞാൻ ഒരു ജനതയെക്കുറിച്ചോ ഒരു രാജ്യത്തെക്കുറിച്ചോ ‘അതിനെ ഉന്മൂലനം ചെയ്ത് എറിഞ്ഞ് നശിപ്പിച്ചുകളയും’ എന്നരുളിച്ചെയ്തശേഷം,
The moment I speak concerning a nation, And concerning a kingdom, To pluck up and to break down, and to destroy,
8 ൮ ഞാൻ അങ്ങനെ അരുളിച്ചെയ്ത ജനത അതിന്റെ ദുഷ്ടത വിട്ടുതിരിയുന്നുവെങ്കിൽ അതിനോട് ചെയ്യുവാൻ നിരൂപിച്ച ദോഷത്തെക്കുറിച്ചു ഞാൻ അനുതപിക്കും.
And that nation hath turned from its evil, Because I have spoken against it, Then I have repented of the evil that I thought to do to it.
9 ൯ ഒരു ജനതയെക്കുറിച്ചോ രാജ്യത്തെക്കുറിച്ചോ ‘ഞാൻ അതിനെ പണിയുകയും നടുകയും ചെയ്യും’ എന്നരുളിച്ചെയ്തിട്ട്
And the moment I speak concerning a nation, And concerning a kingdom, to build, and to plant,
10 ൧൦ അത് എന്റെ വാക്കു കേട്ടനുസരിക്കാതെ എനിക്ക് അനിഷ്ടമായുള്ളതു ചെയ്യുന്നുവെങ്കിൽ ‘അവർക്ക് വരുത്തും’ എന്നരുളിച്ചെയ്ത നന്മയെക്കുറിച്ചു ഞാൻ അനുതപിക്കും.
And it hath done the evil thing in Mine eyes, So as not to hearken to My voice, Then I have repented of the good That I have spoken of doing to it.
11 ൧൧ അതിനാൽ നീ ചെന്ന് യെഹൂദാപുരുഷന്മാരോടും യെരൂശലേം നിവാസികളോടും പറയേണ്ടത്: “യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു: ഞാൻ നിങ്ങൾക്ക് ഒരനർത്ഥം ചിന്തിച്ച്, നിങ്ങൾക്ക് വിരോധമായി ഒരു പദ്ധതി നിനച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; നിങ്ങൾ ഓരോരുത്തനും അവനവന്റെ ദുർമ്മാർഗ്ഗം വിട്ടുതിരിഞ്ഞ് നിങ്ങളുടെ നടപ്പും പ്രവൃത്തികളും നന്നാക്കുവിൻ”.
And now, speak, I pray thee, unto men of Judah, And against inhabitants of Jerusalem, Saying: Thus said Jehovah: Lo, I am framing against you evil, And devising against you a device, Turn back, I pray you, each from his evil way And amen your ways and your doings.
12 ൧൨ അതിന് അവർ: “ഇതു വെറുതെ; ഞങ്ങൾ ഞങ്ങളുടെ സ്വന്ത നിരൂപണങ്ങൾ അനുസരിച്ചു നടക്കും; ഞങ്ങളിൽ ഓരോരുത്തനും അവനവന്റെ ദുഷ്ടഹൃദയത്തിലെ ശാഠ്യം പ്രവർത്തിക്കും” എന്ന് പറഞ്ഞു.
And they have said, It is incurable, For after our own devices we do go, And each the stubbornness of his evil heart we do.
13 ൧൩ അതുകൊണ്ട് യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു: “ജനതകളുടെ ഇടയിൽ ചെന്ന് അന്വേഷിക്കുവിൻ; ഇങ്ങനെയുള്ളത് ആരെങ്കിലും കേട്ടിട്ടുണ്ടോ? യിസ്രായേൽകന്യക അതിഭയങ്കരമായുള്ളതു ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു.
Therefore, thus said Jehovah: Ask, I pray you, among the nations, Who hath heard like these? A very horrible thing hath the virgin of Israel done.
14 ൧൪ ലെബാനോനിലെ ഹിമം വയലിലെ പാറയെ വിട്ടുപോകുമോ? അന്യദേശത്തുനിന്ന് ഒഴുകിവരുന്ന തണുത്ത വെള്ളം വറ്റിപ്പോകുമോ?
Doth snow of Lebanon Cease from the rock of the field? Failed are the cold strange waters that flow?
15 ൧൫ എന്റെ ജനമോ, എന്നെ മറന്ന് മിഥ്യാമൂർത്തികൾക്കു ധൂപം കാട്ടുന്നു; അവരുടെ വഴികളിൽ, പുരാതന പാതകളിൽ തന്നെ, അവർ അവരെ ഇടറി വീഴുമാറാക്കി; അവർ നിരപ്പില്ലാത്ത വഴികളിലും പാതകളിലും നടക്കുന്നു;
But My people have forgotten Me, to a vain thing they make perfume, And they cause them to stumble in their ways — paths of old, To walk in paths — a way not raised up,
16 ൧൬ അവർ അവരുടെ ദേശത്തെ ശൂന്യവും നിത്യപരിഹാസവും ആക്കുന്നു; അതിൽകൂടി കടന്നുപോകുന്ന ഏതൊരുവനും സ്തംഭിച്ചു തലകുലുക്കും.
To make their land become a desolation, A hissing age-during, Every passer by it is astonished, And bemoaneth with his head.
17 ൧൭ കിഴക്കൻ കാറ്റിലെന്നപോലെ ഞാൻ അവരെ ശത്രുക്കളുടെ മുമ്പിൽ ചിതറിച്ചുകളയും; അവരുടെ അനർത്ഥദിവസത്തിൽ ഞാൻ അവർക്ക് എന്റെ മുഖമല്ല, പുറമത്രേ കാണിക്കുന്നത്”.
As an east wind I scatter them before an enemy, The neck, and not the face, I shew them, In the day of their calamity.'
18 ൧൮ എന്നാൽ അവർ: “വരുവിൻ, നമുക്കു യിരെമ്യാവിന്റെ നേരെ ഉപായങ്ങൾ ചിന്തിക്കാം; പുരോഹിതന്റെ പക്കൽ ഉപദേശവും ജ്ഞാനിയുടെ പക്കൽ ആലോചനയും പ്രവാചകന്റെ പക്കൽ അരുളപ്പാടും ഇല്ലാതെവരുകയില്ല; വരുവിൻ നമുക്ക് അവനെ നാവുകൊണ്ട് തകർക്കാം; അവന്റെ വാക്ക് ഒന്നും നാം ശ്രദ്ധിക്കരുത്” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
And they say, Come, And we devise against Jeremiah devices, For law doth not perish from the priest, Nor counsel from the wise, Nor the word from the prophet, Come, and we smite him with the tongue, And we do not attend to any of his words.
Give attention, O Jehovah, unto me, And hearken to the voice of those contending with me.
20 ൨൦ നന്മയ്ക്കു പകരം തിന്മ ചെയ്യാമോ? അവർ എന്റെ പ്രാണഹാനിക്കായി ഒരു കുഴി കുഴിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; അവിടുത്തെ കോപം അവരെ വിട്ടുമാറേണ്ടതിന് ഞാൻ അവർക്കുവേണ്ടി നന്മ സംസാരിക്കുവാൻ തിരുമുമ്പിൽ നിന്നത് ഓർക്കണമേ.
Is evil recompensed instead of good, That they have dug a pit for my soul? Remember my standing before Thee to speak good of them, To turn back Thy wrath from them.
21 ൨൧ അവരുടെ മക്കളെ ക്ഷാമത്തിന് ഏല്പിച്ച്, വാളിനിരയാക്കണമേ; അവരുടെ ഭാര്യമാർ മക്കളില്ലാത്തവരും വിധവമാരും ആയിത്തീരട്ടെ; അവരുടെ പുരുഷന്മാർ മരണത്തിന് ഇരയാകട്ടെ; അവരുടെ യൗവനക്കാർ യുദ്ധത്തിൽ വാളിനാൽ വധിക്കപ്പെടട്ടെ.
Therefore, give up their sons to famine, And cause them to run on the sides of the sword, And their wives are bereaved and widows, And their men are slain by death, Their young men smitten by sword in battle,
22 ൨൨ അങ്ങ് പെട്ടെന്ന് ഒരു പടക്കൂട്ടത്തെ അവരുടെ മേൽ വരുത്തിയിട്ട്, അവരുടെ വീടുകളിൽനിന്ന് നിലവിളി കേൾക്കുമാറാകട്ടെ; അവർ എന്നെ പിടിക്കുവാൻ ഒരു കുഴി കുഴിച്ചു; എന്റെ കാലിന് കെണി മറച്ചുവച്ചിരിക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ.
A cry is heard from their houses, For Thou bringest against them suddenly a troop, For they dug a pit to capture me, And snares they have hidden for my feet.
23 ൨൩ യഹോവേ, എന്റെ മരണത്തിനുവേണ്ടിയുള്ള അവരുടെ ആലോചനയെല്ലാം അങ്ങ് അറിയുന്നു; അവരുടെ അകൃത്യം ക്ഷമിക്കരുതേ; അവരുടെ പാപം തിരുമുമ്പിൽനിന്ന് മായിച്ചുകളയരുതേ; അവർ തിരുമുമ്പിൽ ഇടറിവീഴട്ടെ; അവിടുത്തെ കോപത്തിന്റെ കാലത്ത് തന്നെ അവരോടു പ്രവർത്തിക്കണമേ”.
And Thou, O Jehovah, Thou hast known, All their counsel against me [is] for death, Thou dost not cover over their iniquity, Nor their sin from before Thee blottest out, And they are made to stumble before Thee, In the time of Thine anger work against them!
