പുറപ്പാട് 4
1 ൧ അതിന് മോശെ: “അവർ എന്നെ വിശ്വസിക്കാതെയും എന്റെ വാക്ക് കേൾക്കാതെയും: ‘യഹോവ നിനക്ക് പ്രത്യക്ഷനായിട്ടില്ല’ എന്ന് പറയും” എന്നുത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.
Moses answered, “But what if they do not believe me or listen to me but say instead, 'Yahweh has not appeared to you'?”
Yahweh said to him, “What is that in your hand?” Moses said, “A staff.”
3 ൩ “അത് നിലത്തിടുക” എന്ന് കല്പിച്ചു. അവൻ നിലത്തിട്ടു; അത് ഒരു സർപ്പമായിത്തീർന്നു; മോശെ അതിനെ കണ്ട് ഓടിപ്പോയി.
Yahweh said, “Throw it on the ground.” Moses threw it on the ground, and it became a snake. Moses ran back from it.
4 ൪ യഹോവ മോശെയോട്: “നിന്റെ കൈ നീട്ടി അതിന്റെ വാലിൽ പിടിക്കുക” എന്ന് കല്പിച്ചു. അവൻ കൈ നീട്ടി അതിനെ പിടിച്ചു; അത് അവന്റെ കയ്യിൽ വടിയായിത്തീർന്നു.
Yahweh said to Moses, “Reach out and take it by the tail.” So he reached out and took hold of the snake. It became a staff in his hand again.
5 ൫ “ഇത് അബ്രാഹാമിന്റെ ദൈവവും യിസ്ഹാക്കിന്റെ ദൈവവും യാക്കോബിന്റെ ദൈവവും ആയി അവരുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാരുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ നിനക്ക് പ്രത്യക്ഷനായി എന്ന് അവർ വിശ്വസിക്കേണ്ടതിന് ആകുന്നു”.
“This is so they may believe that Yahweh, the God of their ancestors, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has appeared to you.”
6 ൬ യഹോവ പിന്നെയും അവനോട്: “നിന്റെ കൈ മാറിടത്തിൽ ഇടുക” എന്ന് കല്പിച്ചു. അവൻ കൈ മാറിടത്തിൽ ഇട്ടു; പുറത്ത് എടുത്തപ്പോൾ കൈ മഞ്ഞുപോലെ വെളുത്ത് കുഷ്ഠമുള്ളതായി കണ്ടു.
Yahweh also said to him, “Now put your hand inside your robe.” So Moses put his hand inside his robe. When he brought it out, behold, his hand was leprous, as white as snow.
7 ൭ “നിന്റെ കൈ വീണ്ടും മാറിടത്തിൽ ഇടുക” എന്ന് കല്പിച്ചു. അവൻ കൈ വീണ്ടും മാറിടത്തിൽ ഇട്ടു, മാറിടത്തിൽനിന്ന് പുറത്തെടുത്തപ്പോൾ, അത് വീണ്ടും അവന്റെ ശരീരത്തിന്റെ മാംസംപോലെ ആയി കണ്ടു.
Yahweh said, “Put your hand inside your robe again.” So Moses put his hand inside his robe, and when he brought it out, he saw that it was made healthy again, like the rest of his flesh.
8 ൮ എന്നാൽ അവർ വിശ്വസിക്കാതെയും ആദ്യത്തെ അടയാളം സമ്മതിക്കാതെയും ഇരുന്നാൽ അവർ പിന്നത്തെ അടയാളം വിശ്വസിക്കും.
Yahweh said, “If they do not believe you—if they do not pay attention to the first sign of my power or believe in it, then they will believe the second sign.
9 ൯ ഈ രണ്ടടയാളങ്ങളും അവർ വിശ്വസിക്കാതെയും നിന്റെ വാക്ക് കേൾക്കാതെയും ഇരുന്നാൽ നീ നദിയിലെ വെള്ളംകോരി ഉണങ്ങിയ നിലത്ത് ഒഴിക്കണം; നദിയിൽ നിന്ന് കോരിയ വെള്ളം ഉണങ്ങിയ നിലത്ത് രക്തമായിത്തീരും.
If they do not believe even these two signs of my power, or listen to you, then take some water from the river and pour it on the dry land. The water that you take will become blood on the dry land.”
10 ൧൦ മോശെ യഹോവയോട്: “കർത്താവേ, നീ അടിയനോട് സംസാരിച്ചതിന് മുമ്പും അതിനുശേഷവും ഞാൻ വാക്സാമർത്ഥ്യമുള്ളവനല്ല; ഞാൻ വിക്കനും തടിച്ച നാവുള്ളവനും ആകുന്നു” എന്ന് പറഞ്ഞു.
Then Moses said to Yahweh, “Lord, I have never been eloquent, neither in the past nor since you spoke to your servant. I am slow of speech and slow of tongue.”
11 ൧൧ അതിന് യഹോവ അവനോട്: “മനുഷ്യന് വായ് കൊടുത്തത് ആർ? അല്ല, ഊമനെയും ചെകിടനെയും കാഴ്ചയുള്ളവനെയും കുരുടനെയും ഉണ്ടാക്കിയത് ആർ? യഹോവയായ ഞാൻ അല്ലയോ? ആകയാൽ നീ ചെല്ലുക;
Yahweh said to him, “Who is it who made man's mouth? Who makes a man mute or deaf or seeing or blind? Is it not I, Yahweh?
12 ൧൨ ഞാൻ നിന്റെ വായോടുകൂടെ ഇരുന്ന് നീ സംസാരിക്കേണ്ടത് നിനക്ക് ഉപദേശിച്ചു തരും” എന്ന് അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു.
So now go, and I will be with your mouth and teach you what to say.”
But Moses said, “Lord, please send anyone else, anyone whom you wish to send.”
14 ൧൪ അപ്പോൾ യഹോവ മോശെയുടെ നേരെ കോപിച്ച് പറഞ്ഞത്: “ലേവ്യനായ അഹരോൻ നിന്റെ സഹോദരനല്ലയോ? അവൻ നല്ലവണ്ണം സംസാരിക്കുമെന്ന് ഞാൻ അറിയുന്നു. അവൻ നിന്നെ എതിരേല്ക്കുവാൻ പുറപ്പെട്ടുവരുന്നു; നിന്നെ കാണുമ്പോൾ അവൻ ഹൃദയത്തിൽ ആനന്ദിക്കും.
Then Yahweh became angry with Moses. He said, “What about Aaron, your brother, the Levite? I know that he can speak well. Moreover, he is coming to meet you, and when he sees you, he will be glad in his heart.
15 ൧൫ നീ അവനോട് സംസാരിച്ച് അവന് വാക്ക് പറഞ്ഞുകൊടുക്കണം. ഞാൻ നിന്റെ വായോടും അവന്റെ വായോടുംകൂടി ഇരിക്കും; നിങ്ങൾ ചെയ്യേണ്ടത് ഉപദേശിച്ചു തരും.
You will speak to him and put the words to say into his mouth. I will be with your mouth and with his mouth, and I will show you both what to do.
He will speak to the people for you. He will be your mouth, and you will be to him like me, God.
You will take in your hand this staff. With it you will do the signs.”
18 ൧൮ പിന്നെ മോശെ തന്റെ അമ്മായപ്പനായ യിത്രോവിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ ചെന്ന് അവനോട്: “ഞാൻ പുറപ്പെട്ട്, ഈജിപ്റ്റിലെ എന്റെ സഹോദരന്മാരുടെ അടുക്കൽ ചെന്ന്, അവർ ജീവനോടിരിക്കുന്നുവോ” എന്ന് നോക്കട്ടെ എന്ന് പറഞ്ഞു. യിത്രോ മോശെയോട്: “സമാധാനത്തോടെ പോകുക” എന്ന് പറഞ്ഞു.
So Moses went back to Jethro his father-in-law and said to him, “Let me go so I may return to my relatives who are in Egypt and see if they are still alive.” Jethro said to Moses, “Go in peace.”
19 ൧൯ യഹോവ മിദ്യാനിൽവച്ച് മോശെയോട്: “ഈജിപ്റ്റിലേക്ക് മടങ്ങിപ്പോകുക; നിന്നെ കൊല്ലുവാൻ നോക്കിയവർ എല്ലാവരും മരിച്ചുപോയി” എന്ന് അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു.
Yahweh said to Moses in Midian, “Go, return to Egypt, for all the men who were trying to take your life are dead.”
20 ൨൦ അങ്ങനെ മോശെ തന്റെ ഭാര്യയെയും പുത്രന്മാരെയും കൂട്ടി കഴുതപ്പുറത്ത് കയറ്റി ഈജിപ്റ്റിലേക്ക് മടങ്ങി; ദൈവത്തിന്റെ വടിയും മോശെ കയ്യിൽ എടുത്തു.
Moses took his wife and his sons and put them on a donkey. He returned to the land of Egypt, and he took the staff of God in his hand.
21 ൨൧ യഹോവ മോശെയോട് അരുളിച്ചെയ്തത്: “നീ ഈജിപ്റ്റിൽ എത്തുമ്പോൾ ഞാൻ നിന്നെ ഭരമേല്‍പിച്ചിട്ടുള്ള അത്ഭുതങ്ങളൊക്കെയും ഫറവോന്റെ മുമ്പാകെ ചെയ്യുവാൻ ഓർത്തുകൊള്ളുക; എന്നാൽ അവൻ ജനത്തെ വിട്ടയയ്ക്കാതിരിപ്പാൻ ഞാൻ അവന്റെ ഹൃദയം കഠിനമാക്കും.
Yahweh said to Moses, “When you go back to Egypt, see that you do before Pharaoh all the wonders that I have put in your power. But I will harden his heart, and he will not let the people go.
You must say to Pharaoh, 'This is what Yahweh says: Israel is my son, my firstborn,
23 ൨൩ എനിക്ക് ശുശ്രൂഷ ചെയ്യുവാൻ എന്റെ പുത്രനെ വിട്ടയയ്ക്കണമെന്ന് ഞാൻ നിന്നോട് കല്പിക്കുന്നു; അവനെ വിട്ടയയ്ക്കുവാൻ സമ്മതിക്കുന്നില്ലെങ്കിൽ ഞാൻ നിന്റെ പുത്രനെ, നിന്റെ ആദ്യജാതനെ തന്നെ കൊന്നുകളയും” എന്ന് പറയുക.
and I say to you, “Let my son go, so he may worship me.” But since you have refused to let him go, I will certainly kill your son, your firstborn.'”
Now on the way, when they stopped for the night, Yahweh met Moses and tried to kill him.
25 ൨൫ അപ്പോൾ സിപ്പോറാ ഒരു കൽക്കത്തി എടുത്തു തന്റെ മകന്റെ അഗ്രചർമ്മം മുറിച്ച് അവന്റെ കാൽക്കൽ ഇട്ടു: “നീ എനിക്ക് രക്തമണവാളൻ” എന്ന് പറഞ്ഞു.
Then Zipporah took a flint knife and cut off the foreskin of her son, and touched it to his feet. Then she said, “Surely you are a bridegroom to me by blood.”
26 ൨൬ ഇങ്ങനെ യഹോവ അവനെ വിട്ടൊഴിഞ്ഞു; ആ സമയത്ത് ആകുന്നു അവൾ പരിച്ഛേദന നിമിത്തം “നീ എനിക്ക് രക്തമണവാളൻ” എന്ന് പറഞ്ഞത്.
So Yahweh let him alone. She said, “You are a bridegroom of blood” because of the circumcision.
27 ൨൭ എന്നാൽ യഹോവ അഹരോനോട്: “നീ മരുഭൂമിയിൽ മോശെയെ എതിരേല്ക്കുവാൻ ചെല്ലുക” എന്ന് കല്പിച്ചു; അവൻ ചെന്ന് ദൈവത്തിന്റെ പർവ്വതത്തിൽവച്ച് അവനെ എതിരേറ്റ് ചുംബിച്ചു.
Yahweh said to Aaron, “Go into the wilderness to meet Moses.” Aaron went, met him at the mountain of God, and kissed him.
28 ൨൮ യഹോവ തന്നെ ഏല്പിച്ച് അയച്ച വചനങ്ങളൊക്കെയും തന്നോട് കല്പിച്ച അടയാളങ്ങളൊക്കെയും മോശെ അഹരോനെ അറിയിച്ചു.
Moses told Aaron all the words of Yahweh that he had sent him to say and about all the signs of Yahweh's power that he had commanded him to do.
Then Moses and Aaron went and gathered together all the elders of the Israelites.
30 ൩൦ യഹോവ മോശെയോട് കല്പിച്ച വചനങ്ങളെല്ലാം അഹരോൻ പറഞ്ഞു കേൾപ്പിച്ചു, ജനം കാൺകെ ആ അടയാളങ്ങളും പ്രവർത്തിച്ചു.
Aaron spoke all the words that Yahweh had spoken to Moses. He also displayed the signs of Yahweh's power in the sight of the people.
31 ൩൧ അപ്പോൾ ജനം വിശ്വസിച്ചു; യഹോവ യിസ്രായേൽ മക്കളെ സന്ദർശിച്ചു എന്നും തങ്ങളുടെ കഷ്ടത കണ്ടു എന്നും കേട്ടിട്ട് അവർ കുമ്പിട്ട് നമസ്കരിച്ചു.
The people believed. When they heard that Yahweh had observed the Israelites and that he had seen their oppression, then they bowed their heads and worshiped him.
