1 എന്റെ ജനമേ, എന്റെ ഉപദേശം ശ്രദ്ധിപ്പിൻ; എന്റെ വായ്മൊഴികൾക്കു നിങ്ങളുടെ ചെവി ചായിപ്പിൻ.
The understanding of Asaph. O my people, attend to my law. Incline your ears to the words of my mouth.
2 ഞാൻ ഉപമ പ്രസ്താവിപ്പാൻ വായ് തുറക്കും; പുരാതനകടങ്കഥകളെ ഞാൻ പറയും.
I will open my mouth in parables. I will speak about concepts that are from the beginning.
3 നാം അവയെ കേട്ടറിഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു; നമ്മുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാർ നമ്മോടു പറഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു.
We have heard and known such great things, as our fathers have described to us.
4 നാം അവരുടെ മക്കളോടു അവയെ മറെച്ചുവെക്കാതെ വരുവാനുള്ള തലമുറയോടു യഹോവയുടെ സ്തുതിയും ബലവും അവൻ ചെയ്ത അത്ഭുതപ്രവൃത്തികളും വിവരിച്ചുപറയും.
These things have not been hidden from their sons in any generation: declaring the praises of the Lord, and his virtues, and the wonders that he has done.
5 അവൻ യാക്കോബിൽ ഒരു സാക്ഷ്യം സ്ഥാപിച്ചു; യിസ്രായേലിൽ ഒരു ന്യായപ്രമാണം നിയമിച്ചു; നമ്മുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാരോടു അവയെ തങ്ങളുടെ മക്കളെ അറിയിപ്പാൻ കല്പിച്ചു.
And he has received testimony with Jacob, and he has set a law within Israel. Such great things, he has commanded our fathers, so as to make these things known to their sons,
6 വരുവാനുള്ള തലമുറ, ജനിപ്പാനിരിക്കുന്ന മക്കൾ തന്നേ, അവയെ ഗ്രഹിച്ചു എഴുന്നേറ്റു തങ്ങളുടെ മക്കളോടറിയിക്കയും
so that another generation might know them, and so that the sons, who will be born and who will grow up, shall describe them to their sons.
7 അവർ തങ്ങളുടെ ആശ്രയം ദൈവത്തിൽ വെക്കുകയും ദൈവത്തിന്റെ പ്രവൃത്തികളെ മറന്നുകളയാതെ അവന്റെ കല്പനകളെ പ്രമാണിച്ചുനടക്കയും
So then, may they put their hope in God, and may they not forget the works of God, and may they seek his commandments.
8 തങ്ങളുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാരെപോലെ ശാഠ്യവും മത്സരവും ഉള്ള തലമുറയായി ഹൃദയത്തെ സ്ഥിരമാക്കാതെ ദൈവത്തോടു അവിശ്വസ്തമനസ്സുള്ളോരു തലമുറയായി തീരാതിരിക്കയും ചെയ്യേണ്ടതിന്നു തന്നേ.
May they not become like their fathers, a perverse and exasperating generation: a generation that does not straighten their heart and whose spirit is not trustworthy with God.
9 ആയുധം ധരിച്ച വില്ലാളികളായ എഫ്രയീമ്യർ യുദ്ധദിവസത്തിൽ പിന്തിരിഞ്ഞുപോയി.
The sons of Ephraim, who bend and shoot the bow, have been turned back in the day of battle.
10 അവർ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ നിയമം പ്രമാണിച്ചില്ല; അവന്റെ ന്യായപ്രമാണത്തെ ഉപേക്ഷിച്ചു നടന്നു.
They have not kept the covenant of God. And they were not willing to walk in his law.
11 അവർ അവന്റെ പ്രവൃത്തികളെയും അവരെ കാണിച്ച അത്ഭുതങ്ങളെയും മറന്നു കളഞ്ഞു.
And they have been forgetful of his benefits, and of his miracle, which he revealed to them.
12 അവൻ മിസ്രയീംദേശത്തു, സോവാൻ വയലിൽവെച്ചു അവരുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാർ കാൺകെ, അത്ഭുതം പ്രവൎത്തിച്ചു.
He performed miracles in the sight of their fathers, in the land of Egypt, in the field of Tanis.
13 അവൻ സമുദ്രത്തെ വിഭാഗിച്ചു, അതിൽകൂടി അവരെ കടത്തി; അവൻ വെള്ളത്തെ ചിറപോലെ നില്ക്കുമാറാക്കി.
He broke the sea and he led them through. And he stationed the waters, as if in a vessel.
14 പകൽസമയത്തു അവൻ മേഘംകൊണ്ടും രാത്രി മുഴുവനും അഗ്നിപ്രകാശംകൊണ്ടും അവരെ നടത്തി.
And he led them with a cloud by day, and with illumination by fire throughout the night.
15 അവൻ മരുഭൂമിയിൽ പാറകളെ പിളൎന്നു ആഴികളാൽ എന്നപോലെ അവൎക്കു ധാരാളം കുടിപ്പാൻ കൊടുത്തു.
He broke through the rock in the wasteland, and he gave them to drink, as if from the great abyss.
16 പാറയിൽനിന്നു അവൻ ഒഴുക്കുകളെ പുറപ്പെടുവിച്ചു; വെള്ളം നദികളെപ്പോലെ ഒഴുകുമാറാക്കി.
He brought forth water from the rock, and he conducted the waters, as if they were rivers.
17 എങ്കിലും അവർ അവനോടു പാപം ചെയ്തു; അത്യുന്നതനോടു മരുഭൂമിയിൽവെച്ചു മത്സരിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.
And yet, they continued to sin against him. In a waterless place, they provoked the Most High with resentment.
18 തങ്ങളുടെ കൊതിക്കു ഭക്ഷണം ചോദിച്ചു കൊണ്ടു അവർ ഹൃദയത്തിൽ ദൈവത്തെ പരീക്ഷിച്ചു.
And they tempted God in their hearts, by asking for food according to their desires.
19 അവർ ദൈവത്തിന്നു വിരോധമായി സംസാരിച്ചു: മരുഭൂമിയിൽ മേശ ഒരുക്കുവാൻ ദൈവത്തിന്നു കഴിയുമോ?
And they spoke badly about God. They said, “Would God be able to prepare a table in the desert?
20 അവൻ പാറയെ അടിച്ചു, വെള്ളം പുറപ്പെട്ടു, തോടുകളും കവിഞ്ഞൊഴുകി സത്യം; എന്നാൽ അപ്പംകൂടെ തരുവാൻ അവന്നു കഴിയുമോ? തന്റെ ജനത്തിന്നു അവൻ മാംസം വരുത്തി കൊടുക്കുമോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
He struck the rock, and so waters flowed and the torrents flooded, but would even he be able to provide bread, or provide a table, for his people?”
21 ആകയാൽ യഹോവ അതു കേട്ടു കോപിച്ചു; യാക്കോബിന്റെ നേരെ തീ ജ്വലിച്ചു; യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ നേരെ കോപവും പൊങ്ങി.
Therefore, the Lord heard, and he was dismayed, and a fire was kindled within Jacob, and an anger ascended into Israel.
22 അവർ ദൈവത്തിൽ വിശ്വസിക്കയും അവന്റെ രക്ഷയിൽ ആശ്രയിക്കയും ചെയ്യായ്കയാൽ തന്നേ.
For they neither put their trust in God, nor did they hope in his salvation.
23 അവൻ മീതെ മേഘങ്ങളോടു കല്പിച്ചു; ആകാശത്തിന്റെ വാതിലുകളെ തുറന്നു.
And he commanded the clouds from above, and he opened the doors of heaven.
24 അവൎക്കു തിന്മാൻ മന്ന വൎഷിപ്പിച്ചു; സ്വൎഗ്ഗീയധാന്യം അവൎക്കു കൊടുത്തു.
And he rained down manna upon them to eat, and he gave them the bread of heaven.
25 മനുഷ്യർ ശക്തിമാന്മാരുടെ അപ്പം തിന്നു; അവൻ അവൎക്കു തൃപ്തിയാകുംവണ്ണം ആഹാരം അയച്ചു.
Man ate the bread of Angels. He sent them provisions in abundance.
26 അവൻ ആകാശത്തിൽ കിഴക്കൻകാറ്റു അടിപ്പിച്ചു; തന്റെ ശക്തിയാൽ കിഴക്കൻ കാറ്റുവരുത്തി.
He transferred the south wind from heaven, and, in his virtue, he brought in the Southwest wind.
27 അവൻ അവൎക്കു പൊടിപോലെ മാംസത്തെയും കടൽപുറത്തെ മണൽപോലെ പക്ഷികളെയും വൎഷിപ്പിച്ചു;
And he rained down flesh upon them, as if it were dust, and feathered birds, as if they were the sand of the sea.
28 അവരുടെ പാളയത്തിന്റെ നടുവിലും പാൎപ്പിടങ്ങളുടെ ചുറ്റിലും അവയെ പൊഴിച്ചു.
And they fell down in the midst of their camp, encircling their tabernacles.
29 അങ്ങനെ അവർ തിന്നു തൃപ്തരായ്തീൎന്നു; അവർ ആഗ്രഹിച്ചതു അവൻ അവൎക്കു കൊടുത്തു.
And they ate until they were greatly satisfied, and he brought to them according to their desires.
30 അവരുടെ കൊതിക്കു മതിവന്നില്ല; ഭക്ഷണം അവരുടെ വായിൽ ഇരിക്കുമ്പോൾ തന്നേ,
They were not cheated out of what they wanted. Their food was still in their mouth,
31 ദൈവത്തിന്റെ കോപം അവരുടെമേൽ വന്നു; അവരുടെ അതിപുഷ്ടന്മാരിൽ ചിലരെ കൊന്നു യിസ്രായേലിലെ യൌവനക്കാരെ സംഹരിച്ചു.
and then the wrath of God came upon them. And he slew the fat ones among them, and he impeded the elect of Israel.
32 ഇതെല്ലാമായിട്ടും അവർ പിന്നെയും പാപം ചെയ്തു; അവന്റെ അത്ഭുതപ്രവൃത്തികളെ വിശ്വസിച്ചതുമില്ല.
In all these things, they continued to sin, and they were not trustworthy with his miracles.
33 അതുകൊണ്ടു അവൻ അവരുടെ നാളുകളെ ശ്വാസംപോലെയും അവരുടെ സംവത്സരങ്ങളെ അതിവേഗത്തിലും കഴിയുമാറാക്കി.
And their days faded away into vanity, and their years with haste.
34 അവൻ അവരെ കൊല്ലുമ്പോൾ അവർ അവനെ അന്വേഷിക്കും; അവർ തിരിഞ്ഞു ജാഗ്രതയോടെ ദൈവത്തെ തിരയും.
When he slew them, then they sought him. And they returned, and they drew near to him in the early morning.
35 ദൈവം തങ്ങളുടെ പാറ എന്നും അത്യുന്നതനായ ദൈവം തങ്ങളുടെ വീണ്ടെടുപ്പുകാരൻ എന്നും അവർ ഓൎക്കും.
And they were mindful that God is their helper and that the Most High God is their redeemer.
36 എങ്കിലും അവർ വായ്കൊണ്ടു അവനോടു കപടം സംസാരിക്കും നാവുകൊണ്ടു അവനോടു ഭോഷ്കു പറയും.
And they chose him with their mouth, and then they lied to him with their tongue.
37 അവരുടെ ഹൃദയം അവങ്കൽ സ്ഥിരമായിരുന്നില്ല; അവന്റെ നിയമത്തോടു അവർ വിശ്വസ്തത കാണിച്ചതുമില്ല.
For their heart was not upright with him, nor have they been living faithfully in his covenant.
38 എങ്കിലും അവൻ കരുണയുള്ളവനാകകൊണ്ടു അവരെ നശിപ്പിക്കാതെ അവരുടെ അകൃത്യം ക്ഷമിച്ചു; തന്റെ ക്രോധത്തെ മുഴുവനും ജ്വലിപ്പിക്കാതെ തന്റെ കോപത്തെ പലപ്പോഴും അടക്കിക്കളഞ്ഞു.
Yet he is merciful, and he will pardon their sins. And he will not destroy them. And he has abundantly turned aside his own wrath. And he did not enflame his wrath entirely.
39 അവർ ജഡമത്രേ എന്നും മടങ്ങിവരാതെ കടന്നുപോകുന്ന കാറ്റു എന്നും അവൻ ഓൎത്തു.
And he remembered that they are flesh: with a spirit that goes forth and does not return.
40 മരുഭൂമിയിൽ അവർ എത്ര പ്രാവശ്യം അവനോടു മത്സരിച്ചു! ശൂന്യപ്രദേശത്തു എത്രപ്രാവശ്യം അവനെ ദുഃഖിപ്പിച്ചു!
How often did they provoke him in the desert and stir him to wrath in a waterless place?
41 അവർ പിന്നെയും പിന്നെയും ദൈവത്തെ പരീക്ഷിച്ചു; യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ പരിശുദ്ധനെ മുഷിപ്പിച്ചു.
And they turned back and tempted God, and they exasperated the Holy One of Israel.
42 മിസ്രയീമിൽ അടയാളങ്ങളെയും സോവാൻവയലിൽ അത്ഭുതങ്ങളെയും ചെയ്ത അവന്റെ കയ്യും
They did not remember his hand, in the day that he redeemed them from the hand of the one troubling them.
43 അവൻ ശത്രുവിൻ വശത്തുനിന്നു അവരെ വിടുവിച്ച ദിവസവും അവർ ഓൎത്തില്ല.
Thus, he positioned his signs in Egypt and his wonders in the field of Tanis.
44 അവൻ അവരുടെ നദികളെയും തോടുകളെയും അവൎക്കു കുടിപ്പാൻ വഹിയാതവണ്ണം രക്തമാക്കിത്തീൎത്തു.
And he turned their rivers into blood, along with their rain showers, so that they could not drink.
45 അവൻ അവരുടെ ഇടയിൽ ഈച്ചയെ അയച്ചു; അവ അവരെ അരിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു: തവളയെയും അയച്ചു അവ അവൎക്കു നാശം ചെയ്തു.
He sent among them the common fly, and it devoured them, and the frog, and it scattered them.
46 അവരുടെ വിള അവൻ തുള്ളന്നും അവരുടെ പ്രയത്നം വെട്ടുക്കിളിക്കും കൊടുത്തു.
And he gave up their fruits to mold and their labors to the locust.
47 അവൻ അവരുടെ മുന്തിരിവള്ളികളെ കന്മഴകൊണ്ടും അവരുടെ കാട്ടത്തിവൃക്ഷങ്ങളെ ആലിപ്പഴം കൊണ്ടും നശിപ്പിച്ചു.
And he slew their vineyards with hail and their mulberry trees with severe frost.
48 അവൻ അവരുടെ കന്നുകാലികളെ കന്മഴെക്കും അവരുടെ ആട്ടിൻ കൂട്ടങ്ങളെ ഇടിത്തീക്കും ഏല്പിച്ചു.
And he delivered their cattle to the hail and their possessions to fire.
49 അവൻ അവരുടെ ഇടയിൽ തന്റെ കോപാഗ്നിയും ക്രോധവും രോഷവും കഷ്ടവും അയച്ചു; അനൎത്ഥദൂതന്മാരുടെ ഒരു ഗണത്തെ തന്നേ.
And he sent the wrath of his indignation among them: indignation and wrath and tribulation, sent forth by evil angels.
50 അവൻ തന്റെ കോപത്തിന്നു ഒരു പാത ഒരുക്കി, അവരുടെ പ്രാണനെ മരണത്തിൽനിന്നു വിടുവിക്കാതെ അവരുടെ ജീവനെ മഹാമാരിക്കു ഏല്പിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു.
He made way for the path of his anger. He did not spare their souls from death. And he enclosed their beasts of burden in death.
51 അവൻ മിസ്രയീമിലെ എല്ലാ കടിഞ്ഞൂലിനെയും ഹാംകൂടാരങ്ങളിലുള്ളവരുടെ വീൎയ്യത്തിന്റെ പ്രഥമഫലത്തെയും സംഹരിച്ചു.
And he struck all the first-born in the land of Egypt: the first-fruits of all their labor in the tabernacles of Ham.
52 എന്നാൽ തന്റെ ജനത്തെ അവൻ ആടുകളെപ്പോലെ പുറപ്പെടുവിച്ചു; മരുഭൂമിയിൽ ആട്ടിൻ കൂട്ടത്തെപ്പോലെ അവരെ നടത്തി.
And he took away his own people like sheep, and he led them through the wilderness like a flock.
53 അവൻ അവരെ നിൎഭയമായി നടത്തുകയാൽ അവൎക്കു പേടിയുണ്ടായില്ല; അവരുടെ ശത്രുക്കളെ സമുദ്രം മൂടിക്കളഞ്ഞു.
And he led them out in hope, and they did not fear. And the sea covered their enemies.
54 അവൻ അവരെ തന്റെ വിശുദ്ധദേശത്തിലേക്കും തന്റെ വലങ്കൈ സമ്പാദിച്ച ഈ പൎവ്വതത്തിലേക്കും കൊണ്ടുവന്നു.
And he led them to the mountain of his sanctification: the mountain that his right hand had acquired. And he cast out the Gentiles before their face. And he divided their land by lot to them, with a line of distribution.
55 അവരുടെ മുമ്പിൽനിന്നു അവൻ ജാതികളെ നീക്കിക്കളഞ്ഞു; ചരടുകൊണ്ടു അളന്നു അവൎക്കു അവകാശം പകുത്തുകൊടുത്തു; യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ ഗോത്രങ്ങളെ അവരവരുടെ കൂടാരങ്ങളിൽ പാൎപ്പിച്ചു.
And he caused the tribes of Israel to dwell in their tabernacles.
56 എങ്കിലും അവർ അത്യുന്നതനായ ദൈവത്തെ പരീക്ഷിച്ചു മത്സരിച്ചു; അവന്റെ സാക്ഷ്യങ്ങളെ പ്രമാണിച്ചതുമില്ല.
Yet they tempted and aggravated God Most High, and they did not keep his testaments.
57 അവർ തങ്ങളുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാരെപ്പോലെ പിന്തിരിഞ്ഞു ദ്രോഹം ചെയ്തു; വഞ്ചനയുള്ള വില്ലുപോലെ അവർ മാറിക്കളഞ്ഞു.
And they turned themselves aside, and they did not serve the covenant. In the same manner as their fathers, they were turned backwards, like a crooked bow.
58 അവർ തങ്ങളുടെ പൂജാഗിരികളെക്കൊണ്ടു അവനെ കോപിപ്പിച്ചു; വിഗ്രഹങ്ങളെക്കൊണ്ടു അവന്നു തീക്ഷ്ണത ജനിപ്പിച്ചു.
They impelled him to anger on their hills, and they provoked him to rivalry with their graven images.
59 ദൈവം കേട്ടു ക്രുദ്ധിച്ചു; യിസ്രായേലിനെ ഏറ്റവും വെറുത്തു.
God listened, and he spurned them, and he reduced Israel greatly, almost to nothing.
60 ആകയാൽ അവൻ ശീലോവിലെ തിരുനിവാസവും താൻ മനുഷ്യരുടെ ഇടയിൽ അടിച്ചിരുന്ന കൂടാരവും ഉപേക്ഷിച്ചു.
And he rejected the tabernacle of Shiloh, his tabernacle where he had dwelt among men.
61 തന്റെ ബലത്തെ പ്രവാസത്തിലും തന്റെ മഹത്വത്തെ ശത്രുവിന്റെ കയ്യിലും ഏല്പിച്ചുകൊടുത്തു.
And he delivered their virtue into captivity, and their beauty into the hands of the enemy.
62 അവൻ തന്റെ അവകാശത്തോടു കോപിച്ചു; തന്റെ ജനത്തെ വാളിന്നു വിട്ടുകൊടുത്തു.
And he enclosed his people with the sword, and he spurned his inheritance.
63 അവരുടെ യൌവനക്കാർ തീക്കു ഇരയായിത്തീൎന്നു; അവരുടെ കന്യകമാൎക്കു വിവാഹഗീതം ഉണ്ടായതുമില്ല.
Fire consumed their young men, and their virgins were not lamented.
64 അവരുടെ പുരോഹിതന്മാർ വാൾകൊണ്ടു വീണു; അവരുടെ വിധവമാർ വിലാപം കഴിച്ചതുമില്ല.
Their priests fell by the sword, and their widows did not weep.
65 അപ്പോൾ കൎത്താവു ഉറക്കുണൎന്നുവരുന്നവനെപ്പോലെയും വീഞ്ഞുകുടിച്ചു അട്ടഹസിക്കുന്ന വീരനെപ്പോലെയും ഉണൎന്നു.
And the Lord was awakened, as if out of sleep, and like a powerful man impaired by wine.
66 അവൻ തന്റെ ശത്രുക്കളെ പുറകോട്ടു അടിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു; അവൎക്കു നിത്യനിന്ദവരുത്തുകയും ചെയ്തു.
And he struck his enemies on the back. He gave them over to everlasting disgrace.
67 എന്നാൽ അവൻ യോസേഫിന്റെ കൂടാരത്തെ ത്യജിച്ചു; എഫ്രയീംഗോത്രത്തെ തിരഞ്ഞെടുത്തതുമില്ല.
And he rejected the tabernacle of Joseph, and he did not choose the tribe of Ephraim.
68 അവൻ യെഹൂദാഗോത്രത്തെയും താൻ പ്രിയപ്പെട്ട സീയോൻ പൎവ്വതത്തെയും തിരഞ്ഞെടുത്തു.
But he chose the tribe of Judah: mount Zion, which he loved.
69 താൻ സദാകാലത്തേക്കും സ്ഥാപിച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന ഭൂമിയെപ്പോലെയും സ്വൎഗ്ഗോന്നതികളെപ്പോലെയും അവൻ തന്റെ വിശുദ്ധമന്ദിരത്തെ പണിതു.
And he built up his sanctuary, like a single-horned beast, in the land that he founded for all ages.
70 അവൻ തന്റെ ദാസനായ ദാവീദിനെ തിരഞ്ഞെടുത്തു; ആട്ടിൻ തൊഴുത്തുകളിൽനിന്നു അവനെ വരുത്തി.
And he chose his servant David, and he took him from the flocks of the sheep: he received him from following the ewes with their young,
71 തന്റെ ജനമായ യാക്കോബിനെയും തന്റെ അവകാശമായ യിസ്രായേലിനെയും മേയിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു അവൻ അവനെ തള്ളയാടുകളെ നോക്കുന്ന വേലയിൽനിന്നു കൊണ്ടുവന്നു.
in order to pasture Jacob his servant and Israel his inheritance.
72 അങ്ങനെ അവൻ പരമാൎത്ഥഹൃദയത്തോടെ അവരെ മേയിച്ചു; കൈമിടുക്കോടെ അവരെ നടത്തി.
And he fed them with the innocence of his heart. And he led them with the understanding of his hands.
