സദൃശവാക്യങ്ങൾ 30
1 യാക്കേയുടെ മകനായ ആഗൂരിന്റെ വചനങ്ങൾ; ഒരു അരുളപ്പാടു; ആ പുരുഷന്റെ വാക്യമാവിതു: ദൈവമേ, ഞാൻ അദ്ധ്വാനിച്ചു, ദൈവമേ, ഞാൻ അദ്ധ്വാനിച്ചു ക്ഷയിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.
The words of Agur the son of Jakeh; the burden. The man saith unto Ithiel, unto Ithiel and Ucal:
2 ഞാൻ സകലമനുഷ്യരിലും മൃഗപ്രായനത്രേ; മാനുഷബുദ്ധി എനിക്കില്ല;
Surely I am brutish, unlike a man, and have not the understanding of a man;
3 ഞാൻ ജ്ഞാനം അഭ്യസിച്ചിട്ടില്ല; പരിശുദ്ധനായവന്റെ പരിജ്ഞാനം എനിക്കില്ല.
And I have not learned wisdom, that I should have the knowledge of the Holy One.
4 സ്വൎഗ്ഗത്തിൽ കയറുകയും ഇറങ്ങിവരികയും ചെയ്തവൻ ആർ? കാറ്റിനെ തന്റെ മുഷ്ടിയിൽ പിടിച്ചടക്കിയവൻ ആർ? വെള്ളങ്ങളെ വസ്ത്രത്തിൽ കെട്ടിയവൻ ആർ? ഭൂമിയുടെ അറുതികളെയൊക്കെയും നിയമിച്ചവൻ ആർ? അവന്റെ പേരെന്തു? അവന്റെ മകന്റെ പേർ എന്തു? നിനക്കറിയാമോ?
Who hath ascended up into heaven, and descended? Who hath gathered the wind in his fists? Who hath bound the waters in his garment? Who hath established all the ends of the earth? What is his name, and what is his son's name, if thou knowest?
5 ദൈവത്തിന്റെ സകലവചനവും ശുദ്ധിചെയ്തതാകുന്നു; തന്നിൽ ആശ്രയിക്കുന്നവൎക്കു അവൻ പരിച തന്നേ.
Every word of God is tried; He is a shield unto them that take refuge in Him.
6 അവന്റെ വചനങ്ങളോടു നീ ഒന്നും കൂട്ടരുതു; അവൻ നിന്നെ വിസ്തരിച്ചിട്ടു നീ കള്ളനാകുവാൻ ഇട വരരുതു.
Add thou not unto His words, lest He reprove thee, and thou be found a liar.
7 രണ്ടു കാൎയ്യം ഞാൻ നിന്നോടു അപേക്ഷിക്കുന്നു; ജീവപൎയ്യന്തം അവ എനിക്കു നിഷേധിക്കരുതേ;
Two things have I asked of Thee; deny me them not before I die:
8 വ്യാജവും ഭോഷ്കും എന്നോടു അകറ്റേണമേ; ദാരിദ്ര്യവും സമ്പത്തും എനിക്കു തരാതെ നിത്യവൃത്തി തന്നു എന്നെ പോഷിപ്പിക്കേണമേ.
Remove far from me falsehood and lies; give me neither poverty nor riches; feed me with mine allotted bread;
9 ഞാൻ തൃപ്തനായിത്തീൎന്നിട്ടു: യഹോവ ആർ എന്നു നിന്നെ നിഷേധിപ്പാനും ദരിദ്രനായിത്തീൎന്നിട്ടു മോഷ്ടിച്ചു എന്റെ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ നാമത്തെ തീണ്ടിപ്പാനും സംഗതി വരരുതേ.
Lest I be full, and deny, and say: 'Who is the LORD?' Or lest I be poor, and steal, and profane the name of my God.
10 ദാസനെക്കുറിച്ചു യജമാനനോടു ഏഷണി പറയരുതു; അവൻ നിന്നെ ശപിപ്പാനും നീ കുറ്റക്കാരനായിത്തീരുവാനും ഇടവരരുതു.
Slander not a servant unto his master, lest he curse thee, and thou be found guilty.
11 അപ്പനെ ശപിക്കയും അമ്മയെ അനുഗ്രഹിക്കാതിരിക്കയും ചെയ്യുന്നോരു തലമുറ!
There is a generation that curse their father, and do not bless their mother.
12 തങ്ങൾക്കു തന്നേ നിൎമ്മലരായിത്തോന്നുന്നവരും അശുദ്ധി കഴുകിക്കളയാത്തവരുമായോരു തലമുറ!
There is a generation that are pure in their own eyes, and yet are not washed from their filthiness.
13 അയ്യോ ഈ തലമുറയുടെ കണ്ണുകൾ എത്ര ഉയൎന്നിരിക്കുന്നു - അവരുടെ കണ്ണിമകൾ എത്ര പൊങ്ങിയിരിക്കുന്നു -
There is a generation, Oh how lofty are their eyes! and their eyelids are lifted up.
14 എളിയവരെ ഭൂമിയിൽനിന്നും ദരിദ്രരെ മനുഷ്യരുടെ ഇടയിൽനിന്നും തിന്നുകളവാൻ തക്കവണ്ണം മുമ്പല്ലു വാളായും അണപ്പല്ലു കത്തിയായും ഇരിക്കുന്നോരു തലമുറ!
There is a generation whose teeth are as swords, and their great teeth as knives, to devour the poor from off the earth, and the needy from among men.
15 കന്നട്ടെക്കു: തരിക, തരിക എന്ന രണ്ടു പുത്രിമാർ ഉണ്ടു; ഒരിക്കലും തൃപ്തിവരാത്തതു മൂന്നുണ്ടു; മതി എന്നു പറയാത്തതു നാലുണ്ടു:
The horseleech hath two daughters: 'Give, give.' There are three things that are never satisfied, yea, four that say not: 'Enough':
16 പാതാളവും വന്ധ്യയുടെ ഗൎഭപാത്രവും വെള്ളം കുടിച്ചു തൃപ്തിവരാത്ത ഭൂമിയും മതി എന്നു പറയാത്ത തീയും തന്നേ. (Sheol h7585)
The grave; and the barren womb; the earth that is not satisfied with water; and the fire that saith not: 'Enough.' (Sheol h7585)
17 അപ്പനെ പരിഹസിക്കയും അമ്മയെ അനുസരിക്കാതിരിക്കയും ചെയ്യുന്ന കണ്ണിനെ തോട്ടരികത്തെ കാക്ക കൊത്തിപ്പറിക്കയും കഴുകിൻ കുഞ്ഞുകൾ തിന്നുകയും ചെയ്യും.
The eye that mocketh at his father, and despiseth to obey his mother, the ravens of the valley shall pick it out, and the young vultures shall eat it.
18 എനിക്കു അതിവിസ്മയമായി തോന്നുന്നതു മൂന്നുണ്ടു; എനിക്കു അറിഞ്ഞുകൂടാത്തതു നാലുണ്ടു:
There are three things which are too wonderful for me, yea, four which I know not:
19 ആകാശത്തു കഴുകന്റെ വഴിയും പാറമേൽ സൎപ്പത്തിന്റെ വഴിയും സമുദ്രമദ്ധ്യേ കപ്പലിന്റെ വഴിയും കന്യകയോടുകൂടെ പുരുഷന്റെ വഴിയും തന്നേ.
The way of an eagle in the air; the way of a serpent upon a rock; the way of a ship in the midst of the sea; and the way of a man with a young woman.
20 വ്യഭിചാരിണിയുടെ വഴിയും അങ്ങനെ തന്നേ: അവൾ തിന്നു വായ് തുടെച്ചിട്ടു ഞാൻ ഒരു ദോഷവും ചെയ്തിട്ടില്ലെന്നു പറയുന്നു.
So is the way of an adulterous woman; she eateth, and wipeth her mouth, and saith: 'I have done no wickedness.'
21 മൂന്നിന്റെ നിമിത്തം ഭൂമി വിറെക്കുന്നു; നാലിന്റെ നിമിത്തം അതിന്നു സഹിച്ചു കൂടാ:
For three things the earth doth quake, and for four it cannot endure:
22 ദാസൻ രാജാവായാൽ അവന്റെ നിമിത്തവും ഭോഷൻ തിന്നു തൃപ്തനായാൽ അവന്റെ നിമിത്തവും
For a servant when he reigneth; and a churl when he is filled with food;
23 വിലക്ഷണെക്കു വിവാഹം കഴിഞ്ഞാൽ അവളുടെ നിമിത്തവും ദാസി യജമാനത്തിയുടെ സ്ഥാനം പ്രാപിച്ചാൽ അവളുടെ നിമിത്തവും തന്നേ.
For an odious woman when she is married; and a handmaid that is heir to her mistress.
24 ഭൂമിയിൽ എത്രയും ചെറിയവയെങ്കിലും അത്യന്തം ജ്ഞാനമുള്ളവയായിട്ടു നാലുണ്ടു:
There are four things which are little upon the earth, but they are exceeding wise:
25 ഉറുമ്പു ബലഹീനജാതി എങ്കിലും അതു വേനല്ക്കാലത്തു ആഹാരം സമ്പാദിച്ചു വെക്കുന്നു.
The ants are a people not strong, yet they provide their food in the summer;
26 കുഴിമുയൽ ശക്തിയില്ലാത്ത ജാതി എങ്കിലും അതു പാറയിൽ പാൎപ്പിടം ഉണ്ടാക്കുന്നു.
The rock-badgers are but a feeble folk, yet make they their houses in the crags;
27 വെട്ടുക്കിളിക്കു രാജാവില്ല എങ്കിലും അതൊക്കെയും അണിയണിയായി പുറപ്പെടുന്നു.
The locusts have no king, yet go they forth all of them by bands;
28 പല്ലിയെ കൈകൊണ്ടു പിടിക്കാം എങ്കിലും അതു രാജാക്കന്മാരുടെ അരമനകളിൽ പാൎക്കുന്നു.
The spider thou canst take with the hands, yet is she in kings' palaces.
29 ചന്തമായി നടകൊള്ളുന്നതു മൂന്നുണ്ടു; ചന്തമായി നടക്കുന്നതു നാലുണ്ടു:
There are three things which are stately in their march, yea, four which are stately in going:
30 മൃഗങ്ങളിൽവെച്ചു ശക്തിയേറിയതും ഒന്നിന്നും വഴിമാറാത്തതുമായ സിംഹവും
The lion, which is mightiest among beasts, and turneth not away for any;
31 നായാട്ടുനായും കോലാട്ടുകൊറ്റനും സൈന്യസമേതനായ രാജാവും തന്നേ.
The greyhound; the he-goat also; and the king, against whom there is no rising up.
32 നീ നിഗളിച്ചു ഭോഷത്വം പ്രവൎത്തിക്കയോ ദോഷം നിരൂപിക്കയോ ചെയ്തുപോയെങ്കിൽ കൈകൊണ്ടു വായ് പൊത്തിക്കൊൾക.
If thou hast done foolishly in lifting up thyself, or if thou hast planned devices, lay thy hand upon thy mouth.
33 പാൽ കടഞ്ഞാൽ വെണ്ണയുണ്ടാകും; മൂക്കു ഞെക്കിയാൽ ചോര വരും; കോപം ഇളക്കിയാൽ വഴക്കുണ്ടാകും.
For the churning of milk bringeth forth curd, and the wringing of the nose bringeth forth blood; so the forcing of wrath bringeth forth strife.
