സദൃശവാക്യങ്ങൾ 22
1 അനവധിസമ്പത്തിലും സൽകീൎത്തിയും വെള്ളിയിലും പൊന്നിലും കൃപയും നല്ലതു.
A [good] name is rather to be chosen than great riches, [and] loving favour rather than silver and gold.
2 ധനവാനും ദരിദ്രനും തമ്മിൽ കാണുന്നു; അവരെ ഒക്കെയും ഉണ്ടാക്കിയവൻ യഹോവ തന്നേ.
The rich and the poor meet together: the LORD is the maker of them all.
3 വിവേകമുള്ളവൻ അനൎത്ഥം കണ്ടു ഒളിച്ചുകൊള്ളുന്നു; അല്പബുദ്ധികളോ നേരെ ചെന്നു ചേതപ്പെടുന്നു.
A prudent man seeth the evil, and hideth himself: but the simple pass on, and suffer for it.
4 താഴ്മെക്കും യഹോവഭക്തിക്കും ഉള്ള പ്രതിഫലം ധനവും മാനവും ജീവനും ആകുന്നു.
The reward of humility [and] the fear of the LORD [is] riches, and honour, and life.
5 വക്രന്റെ വഴിയിൽ മുള്ളും കുടുക്കും ഉണ്ടു; തന്റെ പ്രാണനെ സൂക്ഷിക്കുന്നവൻ അവയോടു അകന്നിരിക്കട്ടെ.
Thorns [and] snares are in the way of the froward: he that keepeth his soul shall be far from them.
6 ബാലൻ നടക്കേണ്ടുന്ന വഴിയിൽ അവനെ അഭ്യസിപ്പിക്ക; അവൻ വൃദ്ധനായാലും അതു വിട്ടുമാറുകയില്ല.
Train up a child in the way he should go, and even when he is old he will not depart from it.
7 ധനവാൻ ദരിദ്രന്മാരെ ഭരിക്കുന്നു; കടം മേടിക്കുന്നവൻ കടം കൊടുക്കുന്നവന്നു ദാസൻ.
The rich ruleth over the poor, and the borrower is servant to the lender.
8 നീതികേടു വിതെക്കുന്നവൻ ആപത്തു കൊയ്യും; അവന്റെ കോപത്തിന്റെ വടി ഇല്ലാതെയാകും.
He that soweth iniquity shall reap calamity: and the rod of his wrath shall fail.
9 ദയാകടാക്ഷമുള്ളവൻ അനുഗ്രഹിക്കപ്പെടും; അവൻ തന്റെ ആഹാരത്തിൽനിന്നു അഗതിക്കു കൊടുക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ.
He that hath a bountiful eye shall be blessed; for he giveth of his bread to the poor.
10 പരിഹാസിയെ നീക്കിക്കളക; അപ്പോൾ പിണക്കം പോയ്ക്കൊള്ളും; കലഹവും നിന്ദയും നിന്നുപോകും.
Cast out the scorner, and contention shall go out; yea, strife and ignominy shall cease.
11 ഹൃദയശുദ്ധി ഇഷ്ടപ്പെടുന്നവന്നു അധരലാവണ്യം ഉണ്ടു; രാജാവു അവന്റെ സ്നേഹിതൻ.
He that loveth pureness of heart, [for] the grace of his lips the king shall be his friend.
12 യഹോവയുടെ കണ്ണു പരിജ്ഞാനമുള്ളവനെ കാക്കുന്നു; ദ്രോഹികളുടെ വാക്കോ അവൻ മറിച്ചുകളയുന്നു.
The eyes of the LORD preserve [him that hath] knowledge, but he overthroweth the words of the treacherous man.
13 വെളിയിൽ സിംഹം ഉണ്ടു, വീഥിയിൽ എനിക്കു ജീവഹാനി വരും എന്നു മടിയൻ പറയുന്നു.
The sluggard saith, There is a lion without: I shall be murdered in the streets.
14 പരസ്ത്രീയുടെ വായ് ആഴമുള്ള കുഴി ആകുന്നു; യഹോവയാൽ ത്യജിക്കപ്പെട്ടവൻ അതിൽ വീഴും.
The mouth of strange women is a deep pit: he that is abhorred of the LORD shall fall therein.
15 ബാലന്റെ ഹൃദയത്തോടു ഭോഷത്വം പറ്റിയിരിക്കുന്നു; ശിക്ഷെക്കുള്ള വടി അതിനെ അവനിൽ നിന്നു അകറ്റിക്കളയും.
Foolishness is bound up in the heart of a child; [but] the rod of correction shall drive it far from him.
16 ആദായം ഉണ്ടാക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു എളിയവനെ പീഡിപ്പിക്കുന്നവനും ധനവാന്നു കൊടുക്കുന്നവനും മുട്ടുള്ളവനായ്തീരും.
He that oppresseth the poor to increase his [gain, and] he that giveth to the rich, [cometh] only to want.
17 ജ്ഞാനികളുടെ വചനങ്ങളെ ചെവിചായിച്ചു കേൾക്കുക; എന്റെ പരിജ്ഞാനത്തിന്നു മനസ്സുവെക്കുക.
Incline thine ear, and hear the words of the wise, and apply thine heart unto my knowledge.
18 അവയെ നിന്റെ ഉള്ളിൽ സൂക്ഷിക്കുന്നതും നിന്റെ അധരങ്ങളിൽ അവ ഒക്കെയും ഉറെച്ചിരിക്കുന്നതും മനോഹരം.
For it is a pleasant thing if thou keep them within thee, if they be established together upon thy lips.
19 നിന്റെ ആശ്രയം യഹോവയിൽ ആയിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ഞാൻ ഇന്നു നിന്നോടു, നിന്നോടു തന്നേ, ഉപദേശിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.
That thy trust may be in the LORD, I have made [them] known to thee this day, even to thee.
20 നിന്നെ അയച്ചവൎക്കു നീ നേരുള്ള മറുപടി കൊണ്ടുപോകേണ്ടതിന്നു നിനക്കു നേരുള്ള മറുപടിയുടെ നിശ്ചയം അറിയിച്ചുതരുവാൻ
Have not I written unto thee excellent things of counsels and knowledge;
21 ആലോചനയും പരിജ്ഞാനവും അടങ്ങിയ സാരസംഗതികളെ ഞാൻ നിനക്കു എഴുതീട്ടുണ്ടല്ലോ.
To make thee know the certainty of the words of truth, that thou mayest carry back words of truth to them that send thee?
22 എളിയവനോടു അവൻ എളിയവനാകകൊണ്ടു കവൎച്ച ചെയ്യരുതു; അരിഷ്ടനെ പടിവാതില്ക്കൽവെച്ചു പീഡിപ്പിക്കയും അരുതു.
Rob not the poor, because he is poor, neither oppress the afflicted in the gate:
23 യഹോവ അവരുടെ വ്യവഹാരം നടത്തും; അവരെ കൊള്ളയിട്ടവരുടെ ജീവനെ കൊള്ളയിടും.
For the LORD will plead their cause, and despoil of life those that despoil them.
24 കോപശീലനോടു സഖിത്വമരുതു; ക്രോധമുള്ള മനുഷ്യനോടുകൂടെ നടക്കയും അരുതു.
Make no friendship with a man that is given to anger; and with a wrathful man thou shalt not go:
25 നീ അവന്റെ വഴികളെ പഠിപ്പാനും നിന്റെ പ്രാണൻ കണിയിൽ അകപ്പെടുവാനും സംഗതി വരരുതു.
Lest thou learn his ways, and get a snare to thy soul.
26 നീ കയ്യടിക്കുന്നവരുടെ കൂട്ടത്തിലും കടത്തിന്നു ജാമ്യം നില്ക്കുന്നവരുടെ കൂട്ടത്തിലും ആയ്പോകരുതു.
Be thou not one of them that strike hands, [or] of them that are sureties for debts:
27 വീട്ടുവാൻ നിനക്കു വകയില്ലാതെ വന്നിട്ടു നിന്റെ കീഴിൽനിന്നു നിന്റെ മെത്ത എടുത്തുകളവാൻ ഇടവരുത്തുന്നതു എന്തിനു?
If thou hast not wherewith to pay, why should he take away thy bed from under thee?
28 നിന്റെ പിതാക്കന്മാർ ഇട്ടിരിക്കുന്ന പണ്ടത്തെ അതിർ നീ മാറ്റരുതു.
Remove not the ancient landmark, which thy fathers have set.
29 പ്രവൃത്തിയിൽ സാമൎത്ഥ്യമുള്ള പുരുഷനെ നീ കാണുന്നുവോ? അവൻ രാജാക്കന്മാരുടെ മുമ്പിൽ നില്ക്കും; നീചന്മാരുടെ മുമ്പിൽ അവൻ നില്ക്കയില്ല.
Seest thou a man diligent in his business? he shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before mean men.
