സംഖ്യാപുസ്തകം 35
1 യഹോവ പിന്നെയും യെരീഹോവിന്നെതിരെ യോൎദ്ദാന്നരികെ മോവാബ് സമഭൂമിയിൽവെച്ചു മോശെയോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതു:
And the Lord spoke to Moses to the west of Moab by Jordan near Jericho, saying,
2 യിസ്രായേൽമക്കൾ തങ്ങളുടെ അവകാശത്തിൽനിന്നു ലേവ്യൎക്കു വസിപ്പാൻ പട്ടണങ്ങൾ കൊടുക്കേണമെന്നു അവരോടു കല്പിക്ക; പട്ടണങ്ങളോടുകൂടെ അവയുടെ പുല്പുറവും നിങ്ങൾ ലേവ്യൎക്കു കൊടുക്കേണം.
Give orders to the children of Israel, and they shall give to the Levites cities to dwell in from the lot of their possession, and they shall give to the Levites the suburbs of the cities round about them.
3 പട്ടണങ്ങൾ അവൎക്കു പാൎപ്പിടമായിരിക്കേണം; അവയുടെ പുല്പുറം ആടുമാടുകൾ മുതലായ സകലമൃഗസമ്പത്തിന്നുംവേണ്ടി ആയിരിക്കേണം.
And the cities shall be for them to dwell in, and their enclosures shall be for their cattle and all their beasts.
4 നിങ്ങൾ ലേവ്യൎക്കു കൊടുക്കേണ്ടുന്ന പുല്പുറം. പട്ടണത്തിന്റെ മതിലിങ്കൽതുടങ്ങി പുറത്തോട്ടു ചുറ്റും ആയിരം മുഴം വിസ്താരം ആയിരിക്കേണം.
And the suburbs of the cities which you shall give to the Levites, shall be from the wall of the city and outwards two thousand cubits round about.
5 പട്ടണം നടുവാക്കി അതിന്നു പുറമെ കിഴക്കോട്ടു രണ്ടായിരം മുഴവും തെക്കോട്ടു രണ്ടായിരം മുഴവും പടിഞ്ഞാറോട്ടു രണ്ടായിരം മുഴവും വടക്കോട്ടു രണ്ടായിരം മുഴവും അളക്കേണം; ഇതു അവൎക്കു പട്ടണങ്ങളുടെ പുല്പുറം ആയിരിക്കേണം.
And you shall measure outside the city on the east side two thousand cubits, and on the south side two thousand cubits, and on the west side two thousand cubits, and on the north side two thousand cubits; and your city shall be in the midst of this, and the suburbs of the cities [as described].
6 നിങ്ങൾ ലേവ്യൎക്കു കൊടുക്കുന്ന പട്ടണങ്ങളിൽ ആറു സങ്കേതനഗരങ്ങളായിരിക്കേണം; കൊലചെയ്തവൻ അവിടേക്കു ഓടിപ്പോകേണ്ടതിന്നു നിങ്ങൾ അവയെ അവന്നുവേണ്ടി വേറുതിരിക്കേണം; ഇവ കൂടാതെ നിങ്ങൾ വേറെയും നാല്പത്തുരണ്ടു പട്ടണങ്ങളെ കൊടുക്കേണം.
And you shall give the cities to the Levites, the six cities of refuge which you shall give for the slayer to flee there, and in addition to these, forty-two cities.
7 അങ്ങനെ നിങ്ങൾ ലേവ്യൎക്കു കൊടുക്കുന്ന പട്ടണങ്ങൾ എല്ലാംകൂടെ നാല്പത്തെട്ടു ആയിരിക്കേണം; അവയും അവയുടെ പുല്പുറങ്ങളും കൊടുക്കേണം.
You shall give to the Levites in all forty-eight cities, them and their suburbs.
8 യിസ്രായേൽമക്കളുടെ അവകാശത്തിൽനിന്നു ജനമേറിയവർ ഏറെയും ജനം കുറഞ്ഞവർ കുറെയും പട്ടണങ്ങൾ കൊടുക്കേണം; ഓരോ ഗോത്രം തനിക്കു ലഭിക്കുന്ന അവകാശത്തിന്നു ഒത്തവണ്ണം ലേവ്യൎക്കു പട്ടണങ്ങളെ കൊടുക്കേണം.
And as for the cities which you shall give out of the possession of the children of Israel, from those [that have] much [you shall give] much, and from those that have less you shall give less: they shall give of their cities to the Levites each one according to his inheritance which they shall inherit.
9 യഹോവ പിന്നെയും മോശെയോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതു:
And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying,
10 നീ യിസ്രായേൽമക്കളോടു പറയേണ്ടതെന്തെന്നാൽ: നിങ്ങൾ യോൎദ്ദാൻ കടന്നു കനാൻദേശത്തു എത്തിയശേഷം
Speak to the children of Israel, and you shall say to them, You are to cross over Jordan into the land of Chanaan.
11 ചില പട്ടണങ്ങൾ സങ്കേതനഗരങ്ങളായി വേറുതിരിക്കേണം; അബദ്ധവശാൽ ഒരുത്തനെ കൊന്നുപോയവൻ അവിടേക്കു ഓടിപ്പോകേണം.
And you shall appoint to yourselves cities: they shall be to you cities of refuge for the slayer to flee to, every one who has killed another unintentionally.
12 കൊലചെയ്തവൻ സഭയുടെ മുമ്പാകെ വിസ്താരത്തിന്നു നില്ക്കുംവരെ അവൻ പ്രതികാരകന്റെ കയ്യാൽ മരിക്കാതിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു അവ സങ്കേതനഗരങ്ങൾ ആയിരിക്കേണം.
And the cities shall be to you places of refuge from the avenger of blood, and the slayer shall not die until he stands before the congregation for judgment.
13 നിങ്ങൾ കൊടുക്കുന്ന പട്ടണങ്ങളിൽ ആറെണ്ണം സങ്കേതനഗരം ആയിരിക്കേണം.
And the cities which you shall assign, [even] the six cities, shall be places of refuge for you.
14 യോൎദ്ദാന്നക്കരെ മൂന്നു പട്ടണവും കനാൻദേശത്തു മൂന്നു പട്ടണവും കൊടുക്കേണം; അവ സങ്കേതനഗരങ്ങൾ ആയിരിക്കേണം.
You shall assign three cities on the other side of Jordan, and you shall assign three cities in the land of Chanaan.
15 അബദ്ധവശാൽ ഒരുത്തനെ കൊല്ലുന്നവൻ ഏവനും അവിടേക്കു ഓടിപ്പോകേണ്ടതിന്നു ഈ ആറുപട്ടണം യിസ്രായേൽമക്കൾക്കും പരദേശിക്കും വന്നുപാൎക്കുന്നവന്നും സങ്കേതം ആയിരിക്കേണം.
It shall be a place of refuge for the children of Israel, and for the stranger, and for him that sojourns among you; these cities shall be for a place of refuge, for every one to flee there who has killed a man unintentionally.
16 എന്നാൽ ആരെങ്കിലും ഇരുമ്പായുധംകൊണ്ടു ഒരുത്തനെ അടിച്ചിട്ടു അവൻ മരിച്ചുപോയാൽ അവൻ കുലപാതകൻ; കുലപാതകൻ മരണശിക്ഷ അനുഭവിക്കേണം.
And if he should strike him with an iron instrument, and the man should die, he is a murderer; let the murderer by all means be put to death.
17 മരിപ്പാൻ തക്കവണ്ണം ആരെങ്കിലും ഒരുത്തനെ കല്ലെറിഞ്ഞിട്ടു അവൻ മരിച്ചുപോയാൽ അവൻ കുലപാതകൻ; കുലപാതകൻ മരണ ശിക്ഷ അനുഭവിക്കേണം.
And if he should strike him with a stone [thrown] from his hand, whereby a man may die, and he [thus] die, he is a murderer; let the murderer by all means be put to death.
18 അല്ലെങ്കിൽ മരിപ്പാൻ തക്കവണ്ണം ആരെങ്കിലും കയ്യിലിരുന്ന മരയായുധംകൊണ്ടു ഒരുത്തനെ അടിച്ചിട്ടു അവൻ മരിച്ചുപോയാൽ അവൻ കുലപാതകൻ; കുലപാതകൻ മരണശിക്ഷ അനുഭവിക്കേണം.
And if he should strike him with an instrument of wood from his hand, whereby he may die, and he [thus] die, he is a murderer; let the murderer by all means be put to death.
19 രക്തപ്രതികാരകൻ തന്നേ കുലപാതകനെ കൊല്ലേണം; അവനെ കണ്ടുകൂടുമ്പോൾ അവനെ കൊല്ലേണം.
The avenger of blood himself shall kill the murderer: whenever he shall meet him he shall kill him.
20 ആരെങ്കിലും ദ്വേഷംനിമിത്തം ഒരുത്തനെ കുത്തുകയോ കരുതിക്കൂട്ടി അവന്റെമേൽ വല്ലതും എറികയോ ചെയ്തിട്ടു അവൻ മരിച്ചുപോയാൽ,
And if he should thrust him through enmity, or cast any thing upon him from an ambuscade, and the man should die,
21 അല്ലെങ്കിൽ ശത്രുതയാൽ കൈകൊണ്ടു അവനെ അടിച്ചിട്ടു അവൻ മരിച്ചുപോയാൽ അവനെ കൊന്നവൻ മരണശിക്ഷ അനുഭവിക്കേണം. അവൻ കുലപാതകൻ; രക്തപ്രതികാരകൻ കുലപാതകനെ കണ്ടുകൂടുമ്പോൾ കൊന്നുകളയേണം.
or if he have struck him with his hand through anger, and the man should die, let the man that struck him be put to death by all means, he is a murderer: let the murderer by all means be put to death: the avenger of blood shall kill the murderer when he meets him.
22 എന്നാൽ ആരെങ്കിലും ശത്രുതകൂടാതെ പെട്ടെന്നു ഒരുത്തനെ കുത്തുകയോ കരുതാതെ വല്ലതും അവന്റെമേൽ എറിഞ്ഞുപോകയോ,
But if he should thrust him suddenly, not through enmity, or cast any thing upon him, not from an ambuscade,
23 അവന്നു ശത്രുവായിരിക്കാതെയും അവന്നു ദോഷം വിചാരിക്കാതെയും അവൻ മരിപ്പാൻ തക്കവണ്ണം അവനെ കാണാതെ കല്ലു എറികയോ ചെയ്തിട്ടു അവൻ മരിച്ചു പോയാൽ
or [strike him] with any stone, whereby a man may die, unawares, and it should fall upon him, and he should die, but he was not his enemy, nor sought to hurt him;
24 കൊലചെയ്തവന്നും രക്തപ്രതികാരകന്നും മദ്ധ്യേ ഈ ന്യായങ്ങളെ അനുസരിച്ചു സഭ വിധിക്കേണം.
then the assembly shall judge between the smiter and the avenger of blood, according to these judgments.
25 കൊലചെയ്തവനെ സഭ രക്തപ്രതികാരകന്റെ കയ്യിൽനിന്നു രക്ഷിക്കേണം; അവൻ ഓടിപ്പോയിരുന്ന സങ്കേതനഗരത്തിലേക്കു അവനെ മടക്കി അയക്കേണം; വിശുദ്ധതൈലത്താൽ അഭിഷിക്തനായ മഹാപുരോഹിതന്റെ മരണംവരെ അവൻ അവിടെ പാൎക്കേണം.
And the congregation shall rescue the slayer from the avenger of blood, and the congregation shall restore him to his city of refuge, whither he fled for refuge; and he shall dwell there till the death of the high-priest, whom they anointed with the holy oil.
26 എന്നാൽ കൊലചെയ്തവൻ ഓടിപ്പോയിരുന്ന സങ്കേതനഗരത്തിന്റെ അതിർ വിട്ടു പുറത്തു വരികയും
But if the slayer should in any wise go out beyond the bounds of the city whither he fled for refuge,
27 അവനെ അവന്റെ സങ്കേതനഗരത്തിന്റെ അതിരിന്നു പുറത്തുവെച്ചു കണ്ടു രക്തപ്രതികാരകൻ കൊലചെയ്തവനെ കൊല്ലുകയും ചെയ്താൽ അവന്നു രക്തപാതകം ഇല്ല.
and the avenger of blood should find him without the bounds of the city of his refuge, and the avenger of blood should kill the slayer, he is not guilty.
28 അവൻ മഹാപുരോഹിതന്റെ മരണംവരെ തന്റെ സങ്കേതനഗരത്തിൽ പാൎക്കേണ്ടിയിരുന്നു; എന്നാൽ കൊലചെയ്തവന്നു മഹാപുരോഹിതന്റെ മരണശേഷം തന്റെ അവകാശഭൂമിയിലേക്കു മടങ്ങിപ്പോകാം.
For he ought to have remained in the city of refuge till the high-priest died; and after the death of the high-priest the slayer shall return to the land of his possession.
29 ഇതു നിങ്ങൾക്കു തലമുറതലമുറയായി നിങ്ങളുടെ സകലവാസസ്ഥലങ്ങളിലും ന്യായവിധിക്കുള്ള പ്രമാണം ആയിരിക്കേണം.
And these things shall be to you for an ordinance of judgment throughout your generations in all your dwellings.
30 ആരെങ്കിലും ഒരുത്തനെ കൊന്നാൽ കുലപാതകൻ സാക്ഷികളുടെ വാമൊഴിപ്രകാരം മരണശിക്ഷ അനുഭവിക്കേണം; എന്നാൽ ഒരു മനുഷ്യന്റെ നേരെ മരണശിക്ഷെക്കു ഏകസാക്ഷിയുടെ മൊഴി മതിയാകുന്നതല്ല.
Whoever kills a man, you shall kill the murderer on the testimony of witnesses; and one witness shall not testify against a soul that he should die.
31 മരണയോഗ്യനായ കുലപാതകന്റെ ജീവന്നുവേണ്ടി നിങ്ങൾ വീണ്ടെടുപ്പുവില വാങ്ങരുതു; അവൻ മരണശിക്ഷ തന്നേ അനുഭവിക്കേണം.
And you shall not accept ransoms for life from a murderer who is worthy of death, for he shall be surely put to death.
32 സങ്കേതനഗരത്തിലേക്കു ഓടിപ്പോയവൻ പുരോഹിതന്റെ മരണത്തിന്നു മുമ്പെ നാട്ടിൽ മടങ്ങിവന്നു പാൎക്കേണ്ടതിന്നും നിങ്ങൾ വീണ്ടെടുപ്പുവില വാങ്ങരുതു.
You shall not accept a ransom [to excuse] his fleeing to the city of refuge, so that he should again dwell in the land, until the death of the high-priest.
33 നിങ്ങൾ പാൎക്കുന്ന ദേശം അങ്ങനെ അശുദ്ധമാക്കരുതു; രക്തം ദേശത്തെ അശുദ്ധമാക്കുന്നു; ദേശത്തിൽ ചൊരിഞ്ഞ രക്തത്തിന്നുവേണ്ടി രക്തം ചൊരിയിച്ചവന്റെ രക്തത്താൽ അല്ലാതെ ദേശത്തിന്നു പ്രായശ്ചിത്തം സാദ്ധ്യമല്ല.
So shall you not pollute with murder the land in which you dwell; for this blood pollutes the land, and the land shall not be purged from the blood shed upon it, but by the blood of him that shed it.
34 അതുകൊണ്ടു ഞാൻ അധിവസിക്കുന്ന നിങ്ങളുടെ പാൎപ്പിടമായ ദേശം അശുദ്ധമാക്കരുതു; യിസ്രായേൽമക്കളുടെ മദ്ധ്യേ യഹോവയായ ഞാൻ അധിവസിക്കുന്നു.
And you shall not defile the land whereon you dwell, on which I dwell in the midst of you; for I am the Lord dwelling in the midst of the children of Israel.
