സംഖ്യാപുസ്തകം 24

1 യിസ്രായേലിനെ അനുഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നതു യഹോവെക്കു പ്രസാദമെന്നു ബിലെയാം കണ്ടപ്പോൾ അവൻ മുമ്പിലത്തെപ്പോലെ ലക്ഷണം നോക്കുവാൻ പോകാതെ മരുഭൂമിക്കുനേരെ മുഖം തിരിച്ചു.

And Balaam saw that it was good in the sight of Jehovah to bless Israel, and he went not, as at other times, to seek for enchantments, but he set his face toward the wilderness.

2 ബിലെയാം തല ഉയൎത്തി യിസ്രായേൽ ഗോത്രംഗോത്രമായി പാൎക്കുന്നതു കണ്ടു; ദൈവത്തിന്റെ ആത്മാവു അവന്റെമേൽ വന്നു;

And Balaam lifted up his eyes and saw Israel dwelling [in tents] according to his tribes; and the Spirit of God came upon him.

3 അവൻ സുഭാഷിതം ചൊല്ലിത്തുടങ്ങിയതു: ബെയോരിന്റെ മകനായ ബിലെയാം പറയുന്നു.

And he took up his parable, and said, Balaam the son of Beor saith, and the man of opened eye saith,

4 കണ്ണടച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന പുരുഷൻ പറയുന്നു; ദൈവത്തിന്റെ അരുളപ്പാടു കേൾക്കുന്നവൻ, സൎവ്വശക്തന്റെ ദൎശനം ദൎശിക്കുന്നവൻ, വീഴുമ്പോൾ കണ്ണു തുറന്നിരിക്കുന്നവൻ പറയുന്നതു:

He saith, who heareth the words of God, who seeth the vision of the Almighty, who falleth down, and who hath his eyes open:

5 യാക്കോബേ, നിന്റെ കൂടാരങ്ങൾ, യിസ്രായേലേ, നിന്റെ നിവാസങ്ങൾ എത്ര മനോഹരം!

How goodly are thy tents, Jacob, and thy tabernacles, Israel!

6 താഴ്വരപോലെ അവ പരന്നിരിക്കുന്നു; നദീതീരത്തെ ഉദ്യാനങ്ങൾപോലെ, യഹോവ നട്ടിരിക്കുന്ന ചന്ദനവൃക്ഷങ്ങൾപോലെ, ജലാന്തികേയുള്ള ദേവദാരുക്കൾപോലെ തന്നേ.

Like valleys are they spread forth, like gardens by the river side, Like aloe-trees which Jehovah hath planted, like cedars beside the waters.

7 അവന്റെ തൊട്ടികളിൽനിന്നു വെള്ളം ഒഴുകുന്നു; അവന്റെ വിത്തിന്നു വെള്ളം ധാരാളം; അവന്റെ അരചൻ ആഗാഗിലും ശ്രേഷ്ഠൻ; അവന്റെ രാജത്വം ഉന്നതം തന്നേ.

Water shall flow out of his buckets, and his seed shall be in great waters, And his king shall be higher than Agag, and his kingdom shall be exalted.

8 ദൈവം അവനെ മിസ്രയീമിൽനിന്നു കൊണ്ടു വരുന്നു; കാട്ടുപോത്തിന്നു തുല്യമായ ബലം അവന്നു ഉണ്ടു; ശത്രുജാതികളെ അവൻ തിന്നുകളയുന്നു; അവരുടെ അസ്ഥികളെ അവൻ തകൎക്കുന്നു; അസ്ത്രം എയ്തു അവരെ തുളെക്കുന്നു.

God brought him out of Egypt; he hath as it were the strength of a buffalo. He shall consume the nations his enemies, and break their bones, and with his arrows shall smite [them] in pieces.

9 അവൻ സിംഹംപോലെ പതുങ്ങിക്കിടക്കുന്നു; ഒരു സിംഹികണക്കെത്തന്നേ; ആർ അവനെ ഉണൎത്തും? നിന്നെ അനുഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നവൻ അനുഗ്രഹിക്കപ്പെട്ടവൻ; നിന്നെ ശപിക്കുന്നവൻ ശപിക്കപ്പെട്ടവൻ.

He stooped, he lay down like a lion, and like a lioness: who will stir him up? Blessed is he that blesseth thee, and cursed is he that curseth thee.

10 അപ്പോൾ ബാലാക്കിന്റെ കോപം ബിലെയാമിന്റെ നേരെ ജ്വലിച്ചു; അവൻ കൈഞെരിച്ചു ബിലെയാമിനോടു: എന്റെ ശത്രുക്കളെ ശപിപ്പാൻ ഞാൻ നിന്നെ വിളിപ്പിച്ചു; നീയോ ഇവരെ ഈ മൂന്നു പ്രാവശ്യവും ആശീൎവ്വദിക്കയത്രേ ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു.

Then Balak's anger was kindled against Balaam, and he smote his hands together; and Balak said to Balaam, I called thee to curse mine enemies, and behold, thou hast altogether blessed [them] these three times!

11 ഇപ്പോൾ നിന്റെ സ്ഥലത്തേക്കു ഓടിപ്പോക; നിന്നെ ഏറ്റവും ബഹുമാനിപ്പാൻ ഞാൻ വിചാരിച്ചിരുന്നു; എന്നാൽ യഹോവ നിനക്കു ബഹുമാനം മുടക്കിയിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

And now flee thou to thy place; I said I would very highly honour thee, and behold, Jehovah has kept thee back from honour.

12 അതിന്നു ബിലെയാം ബാലാക്കിനോടു പറഞ്ഞതു: ബാലാക്ക് തന്റെ ഗൃഹം നിറെച്ചു വെള്ളിയും പൊന്നും തന്നാലും യഹോവയുടെ കല്പന ലംഘിച്ചു ഗുണമെങ്കിലും ദോഷമെങ്കിലും സ്വമേധയായി ചെയ്‌വാൻ എനിക്കു കഴിയുന്നതല്ല;

And Balaam said to Balak, Did I not also speak to thy messengers whom thou sentest to me, saying,

13 യഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നതു മാത്രമേ ഞാൻ പറകയുള്ളു. എന്നു എന്റെ അടുക്കൽ നീ അയച്ച ദൂതന്മാരോടു ഞാൻ പറഞ്ഞില്ലയോ?

If Balak gave me his house full of silver and gold, I could not go beyond the commandment of Jehovah to do good or bad out of my heart: what Jehovah shall say, that will I speak?

14 ഇപ്പോൾ ഇതാ, ഞാൻ എന്റെ ജനത്തിന്റെ അടുക്കലേക്കു പോകുന്നു; വരിക, ഭാവികാലത്തു ഈ ജനം നിന്റെ ജനത്തോടു എന്തു ചെയ്യുമെന്നു ഞാൻ നിന്നെ അറിയിക്കാം.

And now behold, I go to my people: come, I will admonish thee what this people will do to thy people at the end of days.

15 പിന്നെ അവൻ സുഭാഷിതം ചൊല്ലിത്തുടങ്ങിയതെന്തെന്നാൽ: ബെയോരിന്റെ മകൻ ബിലെയാം പറയുന്നു; കണ്ണടെച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന പുരുഷൻ പറയുന്നു;

And he took up his parable, and said, Balaam the son of Beor saith, and the man of opened eye saith,

16 ദൈവത്തിന്റെ അരുളപ്പാടു കേൾക്കുന്നവൻ, അത്യുന്നതന്റെ പരിജ്ഞാനം പ്രാപിച്ചവൻ, സൎവ്വശക്തന്റെ ദൎശനം ദൎശിക്കുന്നവൻ, വീഴുമ്പോൾ കണ്ണു തുറന്നിരിക്കുന്നവൻ പറയുന്നതു:

He saith, who heareth the words of God, who knoweth the knowledge of the Most High, Who seeth the vision of the Almighty, who falleth down, and who hath his eyes open:

17 ഞാൻ അവനെ കാണും, ഇപ്പോൾ അല്ലതാനും; ഞാൻ അവനെ ദൎശിക്കും, അടുത്തല്ലതാനും. യാക്കോബിൽനിന്നു ഒരു നക്ഷത്രം ഉദിക്കും; യിസ്രായേലിൽനിന്നു ഒരു ചെങ്കോൽ ഉയരും. അതു മോവാബിന്റെ പാൎശ്വങ്ങളെയെല്ലാം തകൎക്കയും തുമുലപുത്രന്മാരെ ഒക്കെയും സംഹരിക്കയും ചെയ്യും.

I shall see him, but not now; I shall behold him, but not nigh: There cometh a Star out of Jacob, and a Sceptre shall rise out of Israel, and he shall cut in pieces the corners of Moab, and destroy all the sons of tumult.

18 എദോം ഒരു അധീനദേശമാകും; ശത്രുവായ സെയീരും അധീനദേശമാകും; യിസ്രായേലോ വീൎയ്യം പ്രവൎത്തിക്കും.

And Edom shall be a possession, and Seir a possession, — they, his enemies; but Israel will do valiantly.

19 യാക്കോബിൽനിന്നു ഒരുത്തൻ ഭരിക്കും; ഒഴിഞ്ഞുപോയവരെ അവൻ നഗരത്തിൽനിന്നു നശിപ്പിക്കും.

And one out of Jacob shall have dominion, and will destroy out of the city what remaineth.

20 അവൻ അമാലേക്കിനെ നോക്കി സുഭാഷിതം ചൊല്ലിയതു: അമാലേക്ക് ജാതികളിൽ മുമ്പൻ; അവന്റെ അവസാനമോ നാശം അത്രേ.

And he saw Amalek, and took up his parable, and said, Amalek is the first of the nations, but his latter end shall be for destruction.

21 അവൻ കേന്യരെ നോക്കി സുഭാഷിതം ചൊല്ലിയതു: നിന്റെ നിവാസം ഉറപ്പുള്ളതു: നിന്റെ കൂടു പാറയിൽ വെച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

And he saw the Kenites, and took up his parable, and said, Firm is thy dwelling-place, and thy nest fixed in the rock;

22 എങ്കിലും കേന്യന്നു നിൎമ്മൂലനാശം ഭവിക്കും; അശ്ശൂർ നിന്നെ പിടിച്ചു കൊണ്ടുപോവാൻ ഇനിയെത്ര?

But the Kenite shall be consumed, until Asshur shall carry thee away captive.

23 പിന്നെ അവൻ ഈ സുഭാഷിതം ചൊല്ലിയതു: ഹാ, ദൈവം ഇതു നിവൎത്തിക്കുമ്പോൾ ആർ ജീവിച്ചിരിക്കും?

And he took up his parable, and said, Alas! Who shall live when God doeth this?

24 കിത്തീംതീരത്തുനിന്നു കപ്പലുകൾ വരും; അവ അശ്ശൂരിനെ താഴ്ത്തും, ഏബെരിനെയും താഴ്ത്തും. അവന്നും നിൎമ്മൂലനാശം ഭവിക്കും.

And ships shall come from the coast of Chittim, and afflict Asshur, and afflict Eber, and he also shall be for destruction.

25 അതിന്റെ ശേഷം ബിലെയാം പുറപ്പെട്ടു തന്റെ സ്ഥലത്തേക്കു മടങ്ങിപ്പോയി; ബാലാക്കും തന്റെ വഴിക്കു പോയി.

And Balaam rose up, and went and returned to his place; and Balak also went his way.
