ലൂക്കോസ് 1
1 ശ്രീമാനായ തെയോഫിലോസേ, ആദിമുതൽ കണ്ട സാക്ഷികളും വചനത്തിന്റെ ശുശ്രൂഷകന്മാരുമായവർ നമ്മെ ഭരമേല്പിച്ചതുപോലെ,
My noble [friend] Theophilus, many people saw the things that [Jesus] did while he was with us, from the time when he started [MTY] [his ministry]. They served God [by teaching people] the message [about the Lord Jesus]. Many of those who heard what they taught wrote down for us accounts of the things that [Jesus did from the time when] he began [his ministry].
2 നമ്മുടെ ഇടയിൽ പൂൎണ്ണമായി പ്രമാണിച്ചു വരുന്ന കാൎയ്യങ്ങളെ വിവരിക്കുന്ന ഒരു ചരിത്രം ചമെപ്പാൻ പലരും തുനിഞ്ഞിരിക്കകൊണ്ടു,
3 നിനക്കു ഉപദേശം ലഭിച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന വാൎത്തയുടെ നിശ്ചയം നീ അറിയേണ്ടതിന്നു
I myself have studied these accounts carefully. So I decided that it would be good for me also to write for you [(sg)] an accurate account of these matters.
4 അതു ക്രമമായി എഴുതുന്നതു നന്നെന്നു ആദിമുതൽ സകലവും സൂക്ഷ്മമായി പരിശോധിച്ചിട്ടു എനിക്കും തോന്നിയിരിക്കുന്നു.
I want you to know the truth about what you have been taught {what others have taught you}.
5 യെഹൂദ്യരാജാവായ ഹെരോദാവിന്റെ കാലത്തു അബീയാക്കൂറിൽ സെഖൎയ്യാവു എന്നു പേരുള്ളോരു പുരോഹിതൻ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; അവന്റെ ഭാൎയ്യ അഹരോന്റെ പുത്രിമാരിൽ ഒരുത്തി ആയിരുന്നു; അവൾക്കു എലീശബെത്ത് എന്നു പേർ.
When King Herod [the Great ruled] Judea [district], there was a [Jewish] priest named Zechariah. He belonged to the [group of priests called] the Abijah group. He and his wife Elizabeth were both descended from the [first priest of Israel], Aaron.
6 ഇരുവരും ദൈവസന്നിധിയിൽ നീതിയുള്ളവരും കൎത്താവിന്റെ സകല കല്പനകളിലും ന്യായങ്ങളിലും കുററമില്ലാത്തവരായി നടക്കുന്നവരും ആയിരുന്നു.
[God considered that] both of them were righteous, because they constantly completely obeyed everything that God had commanded.
7 എലീശബെത്ത് മച്ചിയാകകൊണ്ടു അവൎക്കു സന്തതി ഇല്ലാഞ്ഞു; ഇരുവരും വയസ്സു ചെന്നവരും ആയിരുന്നു.
But they had no children, because Elizabeth had been unable to bear children. Furthermore, she and her husband were very old.
8 അവൻ കൂറിന്റെ ക്രമപ്രകാരം ദൈവസന്നിധിയിൽ പുരോഹിതനായി ശുശ്രൂഷ ചെയ്തുവരുമ്പോൾ:
One day [Zechariah’s] group was doing their work [in the Temple in Jerusalem], and he was serving as a priest in God’s presence.
9 പൌരോഹിത്യമൎയ്യാദപ്രകാരം കൎത്താവിന്റെ മന്ദിരത്തിൽ ചെന്നു ധൂപം കാട്ടുവാൻ അവന്നു നറുക്കു വന്നു.
Following their custom, [the other priests] chose him by lot to enter the Lord’s temple and burn incense.
10 ധൂപം കാട്ടുന്ന നാഴികയിൽ ജനസമൂഹം ഒക്കെയും പുറത്തു പ്രാൎത്ഥിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.
While he was burning the incense, many people were outside [in the courtyard], praying.
11 അപ്പോൾ കൎത്താവിന്റെ ദൂതൻ ധൂപപീഠത്തിന്റെ വലത്തു ഭാഗത്തു നില്ക്കുന്നവനായിട്ടു അവന്നു പ്രത്യക്ഷനായി.
Then an angel whom God had [sent] appeared to him. The angel was standing at the right side of the place [where the priests burned] incense.
12 സെഖൎയ്യാവു അവനെ കണ്ടു ഭ്രമിച്ചു ഭയപരവശനായി.
When Zechariah saw the angel, he was startled and became very afraid.
13 ദൂതൻ അവനോടു പറഞ്ഞതു: സെഖൎയ്യാവേ, ഭയപ്പെടേണ്ടാ; നിന്റെ പ്രാൎത്ഥനെക്കു ഉത്തരമായി: നിന്റെ ഭാൎയ്യ എലീശബെത്ത് നിനക്കു ഒരു മകനെ പ്രസവിക്കും; അവന്നു യോഹന്നാൻ എന്നു പേർ ഇടേണം.
But the angel said to him, “Zechariah, do not be afraid! When you [(sg)] prayed [asking God for a son] (OR, [that God would send the Messiah]), God heard what you prayed. [So] your wife Elizabeth shall bear a son. You must name him John.
14 നിനക്കു സന്തോഷവും ഉല്ലാസവും ഉണ്ടാകും; അവന്റെ ജനനത്തിങ്കൽ പലരും സന്തോഷിക്കും.
He will cause you to be very happy, and many other people will also be happy because he is born.
15 അവൻ കൎത്താവിന്റെ സന്നിധിയിൽ വലിയവൻ ആകും; വീഞ്ഞും മദ്യവും കുടിക്കയില്ല; അമ്മയുടെ ഗൎഭത്തിൽവെച്ചു തന്നേ പരിശുദ്ധാത്മാവുകൊണ്ടു നിറയും.
God will consider him to be very important. He must never drink wine or any other alcoholic drink, [in order that he will be completely dedicated to God]. He will be controlled by the Holy Spirit {The Holy Spirit will control him} from before he is born.
16 അവൻ യിസ്രായേൽമക്കളിൽ പലരെയും അവരുടെ ദൈവമായ കൎത്താവിങ്കലേക്കു തിരിച്ചുവരുത്തും.
He will [persuade] many people in Israel to turn away [from their sins and please] the Lord their God.
17 അവൻ അപ്പന്മാരുടെ ഹൃദയങ്ങളെ മക്കളിലേക്കും വഴങ്ങാത്തവരെ നീതിമാന്മാരുടെ ബോധത്തിലേക്കും തിരിച്ചുംകൊണ്ടു ഒരുക്കമുള്ളോരു ജനത്തെ കൎത്താവിന്നുവേണ്ടി ഒരുക്കുവാൻ അവന്നു മുമ്പായി ഏലീയാവിന്റെ ആത്മാവോടും ശക്തിയോടും കൂടെ നടക്കും.
As [God’s] Spirit enables him [to preach] powerfully as [the prophet] Elijah did, he will precede [the Messiah]. He will cause parents [SYN] to act [peacefully] toward their children [again]. He will cause [many] people who do not obey [God to hear and obey] the wise things that righteous people [tell them]. He will do this in order to help [many] people to be ready when the Lord [comes].”
18 സെഖൎയ്യാവു ദൂതനോടു; ഇതു ഞാൻ എന്തൊന്നിനാൽ അറിയും? ഞാൻ വൃദ്ധനും എന്റെ ഭാൎയ്യ വയസ്സുചെന്നവളുമല്ലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
Then Zechariah said to the angel, “I am very old, and my wife is also so old [that she cannot bear a child. So] (I cannot [believe] that what you [(sg)] said [will happen]!/how can I [believe] that what you [(sg)] said [will happen]?) [RHQ]”
19 ദൂതൻ അവനോടു: ഞാൻ ദൈവസന്നിധിയിൽ നില്ക്കുന്ന ഗബ്രീയേൽ ആകുന്നു; നിന്നോടു സംസാരിപ്പാനും ഈ സദ്വൎത്തമാനം നിന്നോടു അറിയിപ്പാനും എന്നെ അയച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.
Then the angel said to him, “I am [God’s chief angel], Gabriel! [I do what God tells me, because] I constantly am in God’s presence! I was sent {[He] sent me} to tell you [(sg)] something good [that is going to happen to you].
20 തക്കസമയത്തു നിവൃത്തിവരുവാനുള്ള എന്റെ ഈ വാക്കു വിശ്വസിക്കായ്കകൊണ്ടു അതു സംഭവിക്കുവരെ നീ സംസാരിപ്പാൻ കഴിയാതെ മൌനമായിരിക്കും എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.
What I have told you will certainly happen at the time [God decides], but you did not believe what I told you. So now [God will make] you will be unable to talk until the day [your son is born]”!
21 ജനം സെഖൎയ്യാവിന്നായി കാത്തിരുന്നു, അവൻ മന്ദിരത്തിൽ താമസിച്ചതിനാൽ ആശ്ചൎയ്യപെട്ടു.
While [Zechariah and the angel] were talking, the people [in the courtyard] were waiting for Zechariah [to come out]. They wondered, “Why is he staying in the Temple for such a long time?”
22 അവൻ പുറത്തു വന്നാറെ അവരോടു സംസാരിപ്പാൻ കഴിഞ്ഞില്ല; അതിനാൽ അവൻ മന്ദിരത്തിൽ ഒരു ദൎശനം കണ്ടു എന്നു അവർ അറിഞ്ഞു; അവൻ അവൎക്കു ആഗ്യം കാട്ടി ഊമനായി പാൎത്തു.
When Zechariah came out, he was not able to speak to the people. Because he could not talk, he made motions with his hands [to try to convey what had happened]. Then they realized that he had seen (a vision [from God]/something that [God] showed him) while he was in the Temple.
23 അവന്റെ ശുശ്രൂഷാകാലം തികഞ്ഞശേഷം അവൻ വീട്ടിലേക്കു പോയി.
When Zechariah’s time to work [as a priest in the Temple] was finished, he [left Jerusalem and] returned to his home.
24 ആ നാളുകൾ കഴിഞ്ഞിട്ടു അവന്റെ ഭാൎയ്യ എലീശബെത്ത് ഗൎഭം ധരിച്ചു:
Some time later his wife Elizabeth became pregnant [EUP]. She did not leave their house for five months, [because she knew that people would laugh at her if she told them that she was pregnant].
25 മനുഷ്യരുടെ ഇടയിൽ എനിക്കുണ്ടായിരുന്ന നിന്ദ നീക്കുവാൻ കൎത്താവു എന്നെ കടാക്ഷിച്ച നാളിൽ ഇങ്ങനെ എനിക്കു ചെയ്തുതന്നിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു അഞ്ചു മാസം ഒളിച്ചു പാൎത്തു.
But she thought, “God has enabled me to become pregnant. He has pitied me and I will no longer be ashamed [because I have no children]!”
26 ആറാം മാസത്തിൽ ദൈവം ഗബ്രീയേൽദൂതനെ നസറെത്ത് എന്ന ഗലീലപട്ടണത്തിൽ,
When Elizabeth had been [pregnant] [EUP] [for almost] six months, the angel Gabriel was sent by God {God sent the angel Gabriel} [again].
27 ദാവീദുഗൃഹത്തിലുള്ള യോസേഫ് എന്നൊരു പുരുഷന്നു വിവാഹം നിശ്ചയിച്ചിരുന്ന കന്യകയുടെ അടുക്കൽ അയച്ചു; ആ കന്യകയുടെ പേർ മറിയ എന്നു ആയിരുന്നു.
[This time] he went to Nazareth [town] in Galilee [district], to a virgin whose name was Mary. It had been {[Her parents] had} promised that she would marry a man named Joseph, who was descended from [King] David.
28 ദൂതൻ അവളുടെ അടുക്കൽ അകത്തു ചെന്നു: കൃപലഭിച്ചവളേ, നിനക്കു വന്ദനം; കൎത്താവു നിന്നോടുകൂടെ ഉണ്ടു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
The angel greeted her and said, “(The Lord/God) is with you [(sg)] and you will be greatly blessed {[has decided to] greatly bless you}!”
29 അവൾ ആ വാക്കു കേട്ടു ഭ്രമിച്ചു: ഇതു എന്തൊരു വന്ദനം എന്നു വിചാരിച്ചു.
But Mary was very confused [when she heard] that. She wondered what [the angel meant] by these words.
30 ദൂതൻ അവളോടു: മറിയയേ, ഭയപ്പെടേണ്ടാ; നിനക്കു ദൈവത്തിന്റെ കൃപ ലഭിച്ചു.
Then the angel said to her, “Mary, God is very pleased with you [(sg)], so do not be afraid.
31 നീ ഗൎഭം ധരിച്ചു ഒരു മകനെ പ്രസവിക്കും; അവന്നു യേശു എന്നു പേർ വിളിക്കേണം.
You will become pregnant and bear a son, and you must name him Jesus.
32 അവൻ വലിയവൻ ആകും; അത്യുന്നതന്റെ പുത്രൻ എന്നു വിളിക്കപ്പെടും; കൎത്താവായ ദൈവം അവന്റെ പിതാവായ ദാവീദിന്റെ സിംഹാസനം അവന്നു കൊടുക്കും
He will become great. He will be called {[People will] call him} (the Son of God/the man who is also God). God, the Lord, will make him a king [MTY] as his ancestor [King] David was.
33 അവൻ യാക്കോബുഗൃഹത്തിന്നു എന്നേക്കും രാജാവായിരിക്കും; അവന്റെ രാജ്യത്തിന്നു അവസാനം ഉണ്ടാകയില്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. (aiōn g165)
He will be the King of [the] Jews, the descendants [MTY] of [your ancestor] Jacob, forever. He will rule as king forever!” (aiōn g165)
34 മറിയ ദൂതനോടു: ഞാൻ പുരുഷനെ അറിയായ്കയാൽ ഇതു എങ്ങനെ സംഭവിക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
Then Mary said to the angel, “I am a virgin, so how can I [have a baby]?”
35 അതിന്നു ദൂതൻ: പരിശുദ്ധാത്മാവു നിന്റെമേൽ വരും; അത്യുന്നതന്റെ ശക്തി നിന്റെമേൽ നിഴലിടും; ആകയാൽ ഉത്ഭവിക്കുന്ന വിശുദ്ധപ്രജ ദൈവപുത്രൻ എന്നു വിളിക്കപ്പെടും.
The angel replied, “The Holy Spirit will come to you; the power of God [MTY/EUP] will overshadow you [and enable you to become pregnant]. So the child [you will] bear will be completely set apart {give himself completely} to obey God, and he will be called {[people] will say that he is} (the Son of God/the man who is also God).
36 നിന്റെ ചാൎച്ചക്കാരത്തി എലീശബെത്തും വാൎദ്ധക്യത്തിൽ ഒരു മകനെ ഗൎഭം ധരിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; മച്ചി എന്നു പറഞ്ഞുവന്നവൾക്കു ഇതു ആറാം മാസം.
[I also need to tell you something else]. Your cousin Elizabeth is very old, and it was thought {[people] said} that she could not bear any children. But she has been [pregnant] [EUP] [for almost] six months, and will bear a son!
37 ദൈവത്തിന്നു ഒരു കാൎയ്യവും അസാദ്ധ്യമല്ലല്ലോ എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.
[You should not be surprised at that], because God can do everything!”
38 അതിന്നു മറിയ: ഇതാ, ഞാൻ കൎത്താവിന്റെ ദാസി; നിന്റെ വാക്കുപോലെ എനിക്കു ഭവിക്കട്ടെ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു; ദൂതൻ അവളെ വിട്ടുപോയി.
Then Mary said, “All right, I want to serve (the Lord/God), so may what you [(sg)] have said about me come true!” Then the angel left her.
39 ആ നാളുകളിൽ മറിയ എഴുന്നേറ്റു മല നാട്ടിൽ ഒരു യെഹൂദ്യപട്ടണത്തിൽ ബദ്ധപ്പെട്ടു ചെന്നു,
Very soon after that, Mary got ready and went quickly to a town in the highlands of Judea [district] where Zechariah lived.
40 സെഖൎയ്യാവിന്റെ വീട്ടിൽ എത്തി എലീശബെത്തിനെ വന്ദിച്ചു.
She entered his house and greeted [his wife] Elizabeth.
41 മറിയയുടെ വന്ദനം എലീശബെത്ത് കേട്ടപ്പോൾ പിള്ള അവളുടെ ഗൎഭത്തിൽ തുള്ളി; എലീശബെത്ത് പരിശുദ്ധാത്മാവു നിറഞ്ഞവളായി,
As soon as Elizabeth heard Mary greet her, the baby moved inside [Elizabeth’s] womb. The Holy Spirit took complete control of Elizabeth,
42 ഉച്ചത്തിൽ വിളിച്ചു പറഞ്ഞതു: സ്ത്രീകളിൽ നീ അനുഗ്രഹിക്കപ്പെട്ടവൾ; നിന്റെ ഗൎഭ ഫലവും അനുഗ്രഹിക്കപ്പെട്ടതു.
and she said loudly [to Mary], “[God] has blessed you [more than] he has blessed [any other] woman, and [he has] blessed the child you will bear!
43 എന്റെ കൎത്താവിന്റെ മാതാവു എന്റെ അടുക്കൽ വരുന്ന മാനം എനിക്കു എവിടെ നിന്നു ഉണ്ടായി.
(I am not worthy that [God would allow you] to visit me!/Why is [God allowing you] to visit me?) [RHQ] You will be the mother of my Lord!
44 നിന്റെ വന്ദനസ്വരം എന്റെ ചെവിയിൽ വീണപ്പോൾ പിള്ള എന്റെ ഗൎഭത്തിൽ ആനന്ദംകൊണ്ടു തുള്ളി.
[I realize this because] as soon as I heard you greet me, the baby inside my womb moved because he was so happy [that you had come].
45 കൎത്താവു തന്നോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതിന്നു നിവൃത്തിയുണ്ടാകും എന്നു വിശ്വസിച്ചവൾ ഭാഗ്യവതി.
[God] is pleased with you [because] you believed that what (the Lord/God) told you would come true.”
46 അപ്പോൾ മറിയ പറഞ്ഞതു: “എന്റെ ഉള്ളം കൎത്താവിനെ മഹിമപ്പെടുത്തുന്നു;
Then Mary [praised God by] saying/singing: “, how I [SYN] praise (the Lord/God)!
47 എന്റെ ആത്മാവു എന്റെ രക്ഷിതാവായ ദൈവത്തിൽ ഉല്ലസിക്കുന്നു.
I am happy because God is the one who saves me.
48 അവൻ തന്റെ ദാസിയുടെ താഴ്ച കടാക്ഷിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ; ഇന്നുമുതൽ എല്ലാ തലമുറകളും എന്നെ ഭാഗ്യവതി എന്നു വാഴ്ത്തും.
I was only his lowly servant girl, but he did not forget me. So from now on, everyone will say that God was pleased with me,
49 ശക്തനായവൻ എനിക്കു വലിയവ ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു; അവന്റെ നാമം പരിശുദ്ധം തന്നേ.
because they will hear about the things that God [MTY], the mighty one, has done for me. He [MTY] is awesome!
50 അവനെ ഭയപ്പെടുന്നവൎക്കു അവന്റെ കരുണ തലമുറതലമുറയോളം ഇരിക്കുന്നു.
He acts mercifully toward all those who respect him.
51 തന്റെ ഭുജംകൊണ്ടു അവൻ ബലം പ്രവൎത്തിച്ചു, ഹൃദയവിചാരത്തിൽ അഹങ്കരിക്കുന്നവരെ ചിതറിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.
He shows people that he [MTY] is very powerful. He scatters those who think proudly.
52 പ്രഭുക്കന്മാരെ സിംഹാസനങ്ങളിൽ നിന്നു ഇറക്കി താണവരെ ഉയൎത്തിയിരിക്കുന്നു.
He does not let mighty kings rule [MTY] any more, but he honors people who are oppressed (OR, humble).
53 വിശന്നിരിക്കുന്നവരെ നന്മകളാൽ നിറെച്ചു, സമ്പന്നന്മാരെ വെറുതെ അയച്ചു കളഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു.
He gives good things to eat to those who are hungry, but he sends away the rich people without giving them anything.
54 നമ്മുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാരോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതുപോലെ അബ്രാഹാമിന്നും അവന്റെ സന്തതിക്കും എന്നേക്കും കരുണ ഓൎക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു, (aiōn g165)
And now he has remembered what he promised. So he has helped me and all the other people of [MTY] Israel who serve him.
55 തന്റെ ദാസനായ യിസ്രായേലിനെ തുണെച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.”
He promised to Abraham and all our other ancestors who descended from him that he would act mercifully toward them forever.” (aiōn g165)
56 മറിയ ഏകദേശം മൂന്നു മാസം അവളോടു കൂടെ പാൎത്തിട്ടു വീട്ടിലേക്കു മടങ്ങിപ്പോയി.
Mary stayed with Elizabeth for about three months. Then she returned to her home.
57 എലീശബെത്തിന്നു പ്രസവിപ്പാനുള്ള കാലം തികഞ്ഞപ്പോൾ അവൾ ഒരു മകനെ പ്രസവിച്ചു;
When it was time for Elizabeth to give birth to her child, she bore a son.
58 കൎത്താവു അവൾക്കു വലിയ കരുണ കാണിച്ചു എന്നു അയല്ക്കാരും ചാൎച്ചക്കാരും കേട്ടിട്ടു അവളോടുകൂടെ സന്തോഷിച്ചു.
Her neighbors and relatives heard how (the Lord/God) had greatly blessed her [by enabling her to bear a child], so they were happy along with [Elizabeth].
59 എട്ടാം നാളിൽ അവർ പൈതലിനെ പരിച്ഛേദന ചെയ്‌വാൻ വന്നു; അപ്പന്റെ പേർപോലെ അവന്നു സെഖൎയ്യാവു എന്നു പേർ വിളിപ്പാൻ ഭാവിച്ചു.
Seven days later they gathered together for the [ceremony for] circumcising the baby [to show that he belonged to God]. They wanted to give the baby the same name as his father, Zechariah.
60 അവന്റെ അമ്മയോ: അല്ല, അവന്നു യോഹന്നാൻ എന്നു പേരിടേണം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
But his mother said, “No, [his name will not be Zechariah]. His name will be John!”
61 അവർ അവളോടു: നിന്റെ ചാൎച്ചയിൽ ഈ പേരുള്ളവർ ആരും ഇല്ലല്ലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
[So] they said to her, “[John] is not the name of any of your [(dl)] relatives, [so you(dl) should not give him that name]!”
62 പിന്നെ അവന്നു എന്തു പേർ വിളിപ്പാൻ വിചാരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു അപ്പനോടു ആഗ്യംകാട്ടി ചോദിച്ചു.
Then they made motions with their hands to Zechariah, [for him] to indicate what name [he] wanted to be given {to give} to his son.
63 അവൻ ഒരു എഴുത്തു പലക ചോദിച്ചു: അവന്റെ പേർ യോഹന്നാൻ എന്നു എഴുതി; എല്ലാവരും ആശ്ചൎയ്യപ്പെട്ടു.
[So] he signaled that they [should give him] a tablet [to write on. When they gave him one], he wrote [on it], “His name is John.” All those [who were there] were surprised!
64 ഉടനെ അവന്റെ വായും നാവും തുറന്നു, അവൻ സംസാരിച്ചു ദൈവത്തെ സ്തുതിച്ചു.
Immediately Zechariah was able to speak again [MTY], and he praised God.
65 ചുറ്റും പാൎക്കുന്നവർക്കു എല്ലാം ഭയം ഉണ്ടായി; , യെഹൂദ്യമലനാട്ടിൽ എങ്ങും ഈ വാൎത്ത ഒക്കെയും പരന്നു.
All their neighbors were amazed/awestruck! They told other people who lived all over the highlands of Judea about what had happened.
66 കേട്ടവർ എല്ലാവരും അതു ഹൃദയത്തിൽ നിക്ഷേപിച്ചു: ഈ പൈതൽ എന്തു ആകും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു; കൎത്താവിന്റെ കൈ അവനോടു കൂടെ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.
Everyone who heard about it kept thinking about it. They were saying, “We wonder what will this child do [for God when] he [grows up] [RHQ]!” They wondered that because [from what had happened they were sure that] God would be helping that child [SYN] [in a powerful way].
67 അവന്റെ അപ്പനായ സെഖൎയ്യാവു പരിശുദ്ധാത്മാവു നിറഞ്ഞവനായി പ്രവചിച്ചുപറഞ്ഞതു:
[After] Zechariah’s [son was born], Zechariah was completely directed by the Holy Spirit {the Holy Spirit completely directed Zechariah} as he spoke these words that came from God:
68 “യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ ദൈവമായ കൎത്താവു അനുഗ്രഹിക്കപ്പെട്ടവൻ. അവൻ തന്റെ ജനത്തെ സന്ദൎശിച്ചു ഉദ്ധാരണം ചെയ്കയും
“Praise the Lord, the God whom we(inc) people of Israel worship, because he has come to set us, his people, free from our enemies.
He is sending us someone who will powerfully [MTY] save us, someone who is descended from [MTY] King David, who served God well.
70 നമ്മുടെ ശത്രുക്കളുടെ വശത്തു നിന്നും നമ്മെ പകെക്കുന്ന ഏവരുടെയും കയ്യിൽ നിന്നും നമ്മെ രക്ഷിപ്പാൻ
Long ago God caused his prophets to say that he would do that. (aiōn g165)
71 തന്റെ ദാസനായ ദാവീദിന്റെ ഗൃഹത്തിൽ നമുക്കു രക്ഷയുടെ കൊമ്പു ഉയൎത്തുകയും ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നതു,
He will rescue us from our enemies, and he will save us from the power of all those who hate us.
72 നമ്മുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാരോടു കരുണ പ്രവൎത്തിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നും
He will do this because he has not forgotten what he promised our ancestors; he made an agreement that he would act mercifully to us, their descendants.
73 നമ്മുടെ ശത്രുക്കളുടെ കയ്യിൽ നിന്നു രക്ഷിക്കപ്പെട്ടു
That is what he strongly promised our ancestor Abraham that he would do.
74 നാം ആയുഷ്ക്കാലം ഒക്കെയും ഭയം കൂടാതെ തിരുമുമ്പിൽ വിശുദ്ധിയിലും നീതിയിലും തന്നെ ആരാധിപ്പാൻ നമുക്കു കൃപ നല്കുമെന്നു
God told him that we would be rescued {he would rescue us} from the power of our enemies, that he would enable us to serve him without being afraid,
75 അവൻ നമ്മുടെ പിതാവായ അബ്രാഹാമിനോടു സത്യവും തന്റെ വിശുദ്ധ നിയമവും ഓൎത്തതുകൊണ്ടും ആകുന്നു.
that he would cause us to be completely dedicated to him, and enable us to live righteously all of our lives.”
76 നീയോ പൈതലേ, അത്യുന്നതന്റെ പ്രവാചകൻ എന്നു വിളിക്കപ്പെടും. കൎത്താവിന്റെ വഴി ഒരുക്കുവാനും
[Then Zechariah said this to] his little son: “My child, you will be called {people will say that you are} a prophet whom God [MTY/EUP] has sent; you will begin your work before (the Lord/Messiah) comes; you will prepare people so that they will be ready for him. (OR, you will begin your work before the Messiah comes).
77 നമ്മുടെ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ ആൎദ്രകരുണയാൽ അവന്റെ ജനത്തിന്നു പാപമോചനത്തിൽ രക്ഷാപരിജ്ഞാനം കൊടുപ്പാനുമായി നീ അവന്നു മുമ്പായി നടക്കും.
You will tell God’s people how he will forgive them and save them from being punished for their sins.
78 ഇരുളിലും മരണനിഴലിലും ഇരിക്കുന്നവൎക്കു പ്രകാശിച്ചു, നമ്മുടെ കാലുകളെ സമാധാനമാൎഗ്ഗത്തിൽ നടത്തേണ്ടതിന്നു
Our God will do that because he is very kind to us. Just like a new day begins when the sun rises [MET], God will do that new thing for us when the Messiah comes to us from heaven.
79 ആ ആൎദ്രകരുണയാൽ ഉയരത്തിൽനിന്നു ഉദയം നമ്മെ സന്ദൎശിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.”
People who do not know God [MET] are like those who sit in the darkness. They are afraid [MTY] that they will soon die. But when the Messiah tells us God’s message, it will be like causing such people to see a bright light. He will guide us [SYN] so that we will be living peacefully.”
80 പൈതൽ വളൎന്നു ആത്മാവിൽ ബലപ്പെട്ടു; അവൻ യിസ്രായേലിന്നു തന്നെത്താൻ കാണിക്കും നാൾവരെ മരുഭൂമിയിൽ ആയിരുന്നു.
[Later], Zechariah’s son grew up and became spiritually strong. Then he lived in a desolate region until he began to preach to the Israeli people.
