യോഹന്നാൻ 3
1 പരീശന്മാരുടെ കൂട്ടത്തിൽ യെഹൂദന്മാരുടെ ഒരു പ്രമാണിയായി നിക്കൊദേമൊസ് എന്നു പേരുള്ളോരു മനുഷ്യൻ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.
There was a Pharisee, a man named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews.
2 അവൻ രാത്രിയിൽ അവന്റെ അടുക്കൽ വന്നു അവനോടു: റബ്ബീ, നീ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ നിന്നു ഉപദേഷ്ടാവായി വന്നിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു ഞങ്ങൾ അറിയുന്നു; ദൈവം തന്നോടുകൂടെ ഇല്ലെങ്കിൽ നീ ചെയ്യുന്ന ഈ അടയാളങ്ങളെ ചെയ്‌വാൻ ആൎക്കും കഴികയില്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
This man came to Jesus by night, and said to Him, “Rabbi, we know that You have come from God as a teacher, for no one can do these signs that You do unless God is with him.”
3 യേശു അവനോടു: ആമേൻ, ആമേൻ, ഞാൻ നിന്നോടു പറയുന്നു; പുതുതായി ജനിച്ചില്ല എങ്കിൽ ദൈവരാജ്യം കാണ്മാൻ ആൎക്കും കഴിയകയില്ല എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.
Jesus answered and told him, “Most assuredly, I tell you, unless one is born again, that person can’t see the kingdom of God.”
4 നിക്കൊദേമൊസ് അവനോടു: മനുഷ്യൻ വൃദ്ധനായശേഷം ജനിക്കുന്നതു എങ്ങനെ? രണ്ടാമതും അമ്മയുടെ ഉദരത്തിൽ കടന്നു ജനിക്കാമോ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.
Nicodemus asked Him, “How can a man be born when he is old? He can’t go back into his mother’s womb and be born, can he?”
5 അതിന്നു യേശു: ആമേൻ, ആമേൻ, ഞാൻ നിന്നോടു പറയുന്നു: വെള്ളത്താലും ആത്മാവിനാലും ജനിച്ചില്ല എങ്കിൽ ദൈവരാജ്യത്തിൽ കടപ്പാൻ ആൎക്കും കഴികയില്ല.
Jesus answered, “Most assuredly, I tell you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, that one can’t enter the Kingdom of God.
6 ജഡത്താൽ ജനിച്ചതു ജഡം ആകുന്നു; ആത്മാവിനാൽ ജനിച്ചതു ആത്മാവു ആകുന്നു.
That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
7 നിങ്ങൾ പുതുതായി ജനിക്കേണം എന്നു ഞാൻ നിന്നോടു പറകയാൽ ആശ്ചൎയ്യപ്പെടരുതു.
Don’t marvel that I told you, ‘You must be born again.’
8 കാറ്റു ഇഷ്ടമുള്ളേടത്തു ഊതുന്നു; അതിന്റെ ശബ്ദം നീ കേൾക്കുന്നു; എങ്കിലും അതു എവിടെനിന്നു വരുന്നു എന്നും എവിടേക്കു പോകുന്നു എന്നും അറിയുന്നില്ല; ആത്മാവിനാൽ ജനിച്ചവൻ എല്ലാം അതുപോലെ ആകുന്നു എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.
The wind blows where it wants to, and you hear its sound, but can’t tell where it comes from and where it goes. So is everyone who is born of the Spirit.”
9 നിക്കൊദേമൊസ് അവനോടു: ഇതു എങ്ങനെ സംഭവിക്കും എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.
Nicodemus asked Him, “How can these things be?”
10 യേശു അവനോടു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞതു: നീ യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ ഉപദേഷ്ടാവായിരുന്നിട്ടും ഇതു അറിയുന്നില്ലയോ?
“Are you Israel’s teacher,” asked Jesus, “and yet you don’t understand these things?
11 ആമേൻ, ആമേൻ, ഞാൻ നിന്നോടു പറയുന്നു: ഞങ്ങൾ അറിയുന്നതു പ്രസ്താവിക്കയും കണ്ടതു സാക്ഷീകരിക്കയും ചെയ്യുന്നു; ഞങ്ങളുടെ സാക്ഷ്യം നിങ്ങൾ കൈക്കൊള്ളുന്നില്ലതാനും.
Most assuredly, I tell you, we speak what we know and testify what we have seen, and you don’t receive our witness.
12 ഭൂമിയിലുള്ളതു നിങ്ങളോടു പറഞ്ഞിട്ടു നിങ്ങൾ വിശ്വസിക്കുന്നില്ലെങ്കിൽ സ്വൎഗ്ഗത്തിലുള്ളതു നിങ്ങളോടു പറഞ്ഞാൽ എങ്ങനെ വിശ്വസിക്കും?
If I have told you earthly things and you don’t believe, how will you believe if I tell you heavenly things?
13 സ്വൎഗ്ഗത്തിൽനിന്നു ഇറങ്ങിവന്ന[വനായി സ്വൎഗ്ഗത്തിൽ ഇരിക്കുന്നവനായ] മനുഷ്യപുത്രൻ അല്ലാതെ ആരും സ്വൎഗ്ഗത്തിൽ കയറീട്ടില്ല.
No one has ever gone up into Heaven except the one who came from Heaven — the Son of Man.
14 മോശെ മരുഭൂമിയിൽ സൎപ്പത്തെ ഉയൎത്തിയതുപോലെ മനുഷ്യപുത്രനെയും ഉയൎത്തേണ്ടതാകുന്നു.
Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the desert, so the Son of Man must be lifted up,
that everyone who believes in Him should not die, but have eternal life. (aiōnios g166)
16 തന്റെ ഏകജാതനായ പുത്രനിൽ വിശ്വസിക്കുന്ന ഏവനും നശിച്ചുപോകാതെ നിത്യജീവൻ പ്രാപിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ദൈവം അവനെ നല്കുവാൻ തക്കവണ്ണം ലോകത്തെ സ്നേഹിച്ചു. (aiōnios g166)
For God so sincerely loved the world that He gave His only born Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. (aiōnios g166)
17 ദൈവം തന്റെ പുത്രനെ ലോകത്തിൽ അയച്ചതു ലോകത്തെ വിധിപ്പാനല്ല ലോകം അവനാൽ രക്ഷിക്കപ്പെടുവാനത്രേ.
For God didn’t send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him.
18 അവനിൽ വിശ്വസിക്കുന്നവന്നു ന്യായവിധി ഇല്ല; വിശ്വസിക്കാത്തവന്നു ദൈവത്തിന്റെ ഏകജാതാനായ പുത്രന്റെ നാമത്തിൽ വിശ്വസിക്കായ്കയാൽ ന്യായവിധി വന്നുകഴിഞ്ഞു.
Whoever believes in Him is not condemned, but whoever doesn’t believe is condemned already because that person has not believed in the name of God’s only Son.
19 ന്യായവിധി എന്നതോ, വെളിച്ചം ലോകത്തിൽ വന്നിട്ടും മനുഷ്യരുടെ പ്രവൃത്തി ദോഷമുള്ളതു ആകയാൽ അവർ വെളിച്ചത്തെക്കാൾ ഇരുളിനെ സ്നേഹിച്ചതു തന്നേ.
This is the condemnation, that light has come into the world, but people sincerely loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
20 തിന്മ പ്രവൎത്തിക്കുന്നവൻ എല്ലാം വെളിച്ചത്തെ പകെക്കുന്നു; തന്റെ പ്രവൃത്തിക്കു ആക്ഷേപം വരാതിരിപ്പാൻ വെളിച്ചത്തിങ്കലേക്കു വരുന്നതുമില്ല.
Everyone who practices evil hates the light, and doesn’t come to the light, for fear that their deeds will be exposed.
21 സത്യം പ്രവൎത്തിക്കുന്നവനോ, തന്റെ പ്രവൃത്തി ദൈവത്തിൽ ചെയ്തിരിക്കയാൽ അതു വെളിപ്പെടേണ്ടതിന്നു വെളിച്ചത്തിങ്കലേക്കു വരുന്നു.
Whoever practices the truth comes to the light to show clearly that their deeds have been done with God.”
22 അതിന്റെശേഷം യേശു ശിഷ്യന്മാരുമായി യെഹൂദ്യദേശത്തു വന്നു അവരോടുകൂടെ സ്നാനം കഴിപ്പിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.
After this, Jesus and His disciples went out into the countryside of Judea, where He remained with them, and baptized.
23 യോഹന്നാനും ശലേമിന്നു അരികത്തു ഐനോനിൽ സ്നാനം കഴിപ്പിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു; അവിടെ വളരെ വെള്ളം ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; ആളുകൾ വന്നു സ്നാനം ഏറ്റു.
John was also baptizing at Aenon, near Salim, because there was plenty of water there, and people kept coming to be baptized.
24 അന്നു യോഹന്നാനെ തടവിൽ ആക്കിയിരുന്നില്ല.
John had not yet been thrown into prison.
25 യോഹന്നാന്റെ ശിഷ്യന്മാരിൽ ചിലൎക്കു ഒരു യെഹൂദനുമായി ശുദ്ധീകരണത്തെക്കുറിച്ചു ഒരു വാദം ഉണ്ടായി;
There were some questions between some of John’s disciples and the Jews about purification.
26 അവർ യോഹന്നാന്റെ അടുക്കൽവന്നു അവനോടു: റബ്ബീ, യോൎദ്ദാന്നക്കരെ നിന്നോടുകൂടെ ഇരുന്നവൻ, നീ സാക്ഷീകരിച്ചുട്ടുള്ളവൻ തന്നേ, ഇതാ, സ്നാനം കഴിപ്പിക്കുന്നു; എല്ലാവരും അവന്റെ അടുക്കൽ ചെല്ലുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
They came to John and told him, “Rabbi, He who was with you beyond the Jordan, that you have testified about — look, He is baptizing, and everyone is flocking to Him!”
27 അതിന്നു യോഹന്നാൻ: സ്വൎഗ്ഗത്തിൽ നിന്നു കൊടുത്തിട്ടല്ലാതെ മനുഷ്യന്നു ഒന്നും ലഭിപ്പാൻ കഴികയില്ല.
John replied, “A man can receive nothing, unless it’s given to him from Heaven.
28 ഞാൻ ക്രിസ്തു അല്ല, അവന്നു മുമ്പായി അയക്കപ്പെട്ടവനത്രേ എന്നു ഞാൻ പറഞ്ഞതിന്നു നിങ്ങൾ തന്നേ എനിക്കു സാക്ഷികൾ ആകുന്നു.
You yourselves can testify that I said, ‘I’m not the Christ, but I have been sent ahead of Him.’
29 മണവാട്ടി ഉള്ളവൻ മണവാളൻ ആകുന്നു; മണവാളന്റെ സ്നേഹിതനോ നിന്നു മണവാളന്റെ സ്വരം കേട്ടിട്ടു അത്യന്തം സന്തോഷിക്കുന്നു; ഈ എന്റെ സന്തോഷം പൂൎത്തിയായിരിക്കുന്നു.
The bride belongs to the bridegroom. The friend who attends the bridegroom waits and listens for him, and rejoices when he hears the bridegroom’s voice. This joy of mine is now made complete.
30 അവൻ വളരേണം, ഞാനോ കുറയേണം എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.
He must increase, but I must decrease.
31 മേലിൽനിന്നു വരുന്നവൻ എല്ലാവൎക്കും മീതെയുള്ളവൻ; ഭൂമിയിൽ നിന്നുള്ളവൻ ഭൌമികൻ ആകുന്നു; ഭൌമികമായതു സംസാരിക്കുന്നു; സ്വൎഗ്ഗത്തിൽനിന്നു വരുന്നവൻ എല്ലാവൎക്കും മീതെയുള്ളവനായി താൻ കാണ്കയും കേൾക്കയും ചെയ്തതു സാക്ഷീകരിക്കുന്നു;
“He who comes from above is above all. He who is of the Earth belongs to the Earth and speaks of the Earth. He who comes from Heaven is above all.
32 അവന്റെ സാക്ഷ്യം ആരും കൈക്കൊള്ളുന്നില്ല.
He testifies about what He has seen and heard, but no one accepts His testimony.
33 അവന്റെ സാക്ഷ്യം കൈക്കൊള്ളുന്നവൻ ദൈവം സത്യവാൻ എന്നുള്ളതിന്നു മുദ്രയിടുന്നു.
The man who has accepted His testimony has certified that God is truthful.
34 ദൈവം അയച്ചവൻ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ വചനം പ്രസ്താവിക്കുന്നു; അവൻ ആത്മാവിനെ അളവുകൂടാതെയല്ലോ കൊടുക്കുന്നതു.
The one that God has sent speaks God’s words, for God gives the Spirit without measure.
35 പിതാവു പുത്രനെ സ്നേഹിക്കുന്നു; സകലവും അവന്റെ കയ്യിൽ കൊടുത്തുമിരിക്കുന്നു.
The Father sincerely loves the Son, and has given everything into His hand.
