യിരെമ്യാവു 6

1 ബെന്യാമീൻമക്കളേ, യെരൂശലേമിന്റെ നടുവിൽനിന്നു ഓടിപ്പോകുവിൻ; തെക്കോവയിൽ കാഹളം ഊതുവിൻ; ബേത്ത്-ഹക്കേരെമിൽ ഒരു തീക്കുറി ഉയൎത്തുവിൻ; വടക്കു നിന്നു അനൎത്ഥവും മഹാ നാശവും കാണായ്‌വരുന്നു.

Take your goods into safety, ye sons of Benjamin out of the midst of Jerusalem, And in Tekoa, blow ye a horn, And on Beth-haccherem, raise a fire-signal, —For calamity, hath looked out from the North, Even a great destruction.

2 സുന്ദരിയും സുഖഭോഗിനിയുമായ സീയോൻ പുത്രിയെ ഞാൻ മുടിച്ചുകളയും.

To a comely and delicate woman, have I likened the daughter of Zion:

3 അവളുടെ അടുക്കൽ ഇടയന്മാർ ആട്ടിൻ കൂട്ടങ്ങളോടുകൂടെ വരും; അവർ അവൾക്കെതിരെ ചുറ്റിലും കൂടാരം അടിക്കും; അവർ ഓരോരുത്തൻ താന്താന്റെ ഭാഗത്തു മേയിക്കും.

Against her, shall come shepherds with their flocks; They have pitched against her their tents, round about, They tend their flocks every one near at hand.

4 അതിന്റെ നേരെ പടയൊരുക്കുവിൻ! എഴുന്നേല്പിൻ ഉച്ചെക്കു തന്നേ നമുക്കു കയറിച്ചെല്ലാം! അയ്യോ കഷ്ടം! നേരം വൈകി നിഴൽ നീണ്ടുപോയി.

Hallow ye against her a war, Arise! and let us go up in broad noon. Woe to us, for the day, hath turned, for the shadows of evening, stretch along.

5 എഴുന്നേല്പിൻ! രാത്രിയിൽ നാം കയറിച്ചെന്നു അതിലെ അരമനകളെ നശിപ്പിക്കുക!

Arise! and let us go up in the night, And let us destroy her palaces.

6 സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം കല്പിക്കുന്നു: വൃക്ഷം മുറിപ്പിൻ! യെരൂശലേമിന്നു നേരെ വാട കോരുവിൻ! സന്ദൎശിക്കപ്പെടുവാനുള്ള നഗരം ഇതു തന്നേ; അതിന്റെ അകം മുഴുവനും പീഡനം നിറഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു.

For, Thus, saith Yahweh of hosts, Cut ye down timber, And cast up, against Jerusalem a mound, —That, is the city to be punished! There is, nothing, but oppression in her midst;

7 കിണറ്റിൽ പച്ചവെള്ളം നിറഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നതുപോലെ അതിൽ എപ്പോഴും പുതിയ ദുഷ്ടത സംഭവിക്കുന്നു; സാഹസവും കവൎച്ചയുമേ അവിടെ കേൾപ്പാനുള്ളു; എന്റെ മുമ്പിൽ എപ്പോഴും ദീനവും മുറിവും മാത്രമേയുള്ളു.

Like the casting forth by a well of its waters, So, hath she cast forth her wickedness, —Violence and destruction, are heard in her, Before my face, continually, are suffering and smiting.

8 യെരൂശലേമേ, എന്റെ ഉള്ളം നിന്നെ വിട്ടുപിരിയാതെയും ഞാൻ നിന്നെ ശൂന്യവും നിൎജ്ജനപ്രദേശവും ആക്കാതെയും ഇരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ഉപദേശം കൈക്കൊൾക.

Receive thou correction O Jerusalem, Lest my soul be torn from thee, —Lest I make thee A desolation, A land not habitable.

9 സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു: യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ ശേഷിപ്പിനെ മുന്തിരിപ്പഴംപോലെ അരിച്ചുപറിക്കും; മുന്തിരിപ്പഴം പറിക്കുന്നവനെപ്പോലെ നിന്റെ കൈ വീണ്ടും വള്ളികളിലേക്കു നീട്ടുക.

Thus, saith Yahweh of hosts, They shall thoroughly glean as a vine the remnant of Israel—Turn back thy hand, as a grape gatherer over the tendrils.

10 അവർ കേൾപ്പാൻ തക്കവണ്ണം ഞാൻ ആരോടു സംസാരിച്ചു സാക്ഷീകരിക്കേണ്ടു? അവരുടെ ചെവിക്കു പരിച്ഛേദന ഇല്ലായ്കയാൽ ശ്രദ്ധിപ്പാൻ അവൎക്കു കഴികയില്ല; യഹോവയുടെ വചനം അവൎക്കു നിന്ദയായിരിക്കുന്നു; അവൎക്കു അതിൽ ഇഷ്ടമില്ല.

Unto whom, can I speak—and bear witness, that they may hear? Lo! uncircumcised, is their ear, that they cannot attend, —Lo! the word of Yahweh, hath become to them a reproach, they take no delight therein.

11 ആകയാൽ ഞാൻ യഹോവയുടെ ക്രോധംകൊണ്ടു നിറഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു; അതു അടക്കിവെച്ചു ഞാൻ തളൎന്നുപോയി; ഞാൻ അതു വീഥികളിലെ കുട്ടികളിന്മേലും യൌവനക്കാരുടെ സംഘത്തിന്മേലും ഒരുപോലെ ഒഴിച്ചുകളയും; ഭൎത്താവും ഭാൎയ്യയും വൃദ്ധനും വയോധികനും കൂടെ പിടിപെടും.

So then, with the indignation of Yahweh, am I full, I am too weary to hold it in, [I am constrained] to pour it out, upon the boy in the street, and upon the circle of young men, together, —For, even husband with wife, will be captured, The elder with him who is full of days;

12 അവരുടെ വീടുകളും നിലങ്ങളും ഭാൎയ്യമാരും എല്ലാം അന്യന്മാൎക്കു ആയിപ്പോകും; ഞാൻ എന്റെ കൈ ദേശത്തിലെ നിവാസികളുടെ നേരെ നീട്ടും എന്നു യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടു.

And their houses shall be turned over to others, Fields and wives together, —For I will stretch out my hand against the inhabitants of the land, Declareth Yahweh.

13 അവരൊക്കെയും ആബാലവൃദ്ധം ദ്രവ്യാഗ്രഹികൾ ആകുന്നു; പ്രവാചകന്മാരും പുരോഹിതന്മാരും ഒരുപോലെ വ്യാജം പ്രവൎത്തിക്കുന്നു.

For, from the least of them, even unto the greatest of them, Every one, graspeth with greed, —And from the prophet even unto the priest, Every one, dealeth, falsely;

14 സമാധാനം ഇല്ലാതിരിക്കെ, സമാധാനം സമാധാനം എന്നു അവർ പറഞ്ഞു എന്റെ ജനത്തിന്റെ മുറിവിന്നു ലഘുവായി ചികിത്സിക്കുന്നു.

And so they have healed the grievous wound of my people, slightly, Saying, Peace, peace, when there was no peace,

15 മ്ലേച്ഛത പ്രവൎത്തിച്ചതുകൊണ്ടു അവർ ലജ്ജിക്കേണ്ടിവരും; അവർ ലജ്ജിക്കയോ നാണം അറികയോ ചെയ്തിട്ടില്ല; അതുകൊണ്ടു വീഴുന്നവരുടെ ഇടയിൽ അവർ വീണുപോകും; ഞാൻ അവരെ സന്ദൎശിക്കുന്ന കാലത്തു അവർ ഇടറി വീഴും എന്നു യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടു.

Were they led to turn pale because an abominable thing, they had done! Nay! they did not, at all turn pale, Nay! they did not so much as know how, to exhibit shame, Therefore, shall they fall among them who are falling, In the time when I punish them, shall they be overthrown, Saith Yahweh.

16 യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു: നിങ്ങൾ വഴികളിൽ ചെന്നു നല്ലവഴി ഏതെന്നു പഴയ പാതകളെ നോക്കി ചോദിച്ചു അതിൽ നടപ്പിൻ; എന്നാൽ നിങ്ങളുടെ മനസ്സിന്നു വിശ്രാമം ലഭിക്കും. അവരോ: ഞങ്ങൾ അതിൽ നടക്കയില്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

Thus saith Yahweh—Stand ye at the ways—and see, And ask for the paths of age-past times, Where is the good way? And walk therein, And ye shall find rest to your souls. But they said, We will not walk [therein]!

17 ഞാൻ നിങ്ങൾക്കു കാവല്ക്കാരെ ആക്കി: കാഹളനാദം ശ്രദ്ധിപ്പിൻ എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു; എന്നാൽ അവർ: ഞങ്ങൾ ശ്രദ്ധിക്കയില്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

Therefore will I raise up over you, watchmen, Give ye heed to the sound of a horn, —But they said, We will not give heed!

18 അതുകൊണ്ടു ജാതികളേ, കേൾപ്പിൻ; സഭയേ, അവരുടെ ഇടയിൽ നടക്കുന്നതു അറിഞ്ഞുകൊൾക.

Therefore, hear O ye nations, —And take knowledge O assembly, Of that which befalleth them:

19 ഭൂമിയേ, കേൾക്ക; ഈ ജനം എന്റെ വചനങ്ങളെ ശ്രദ്ധിക്കാതെ എന്റെ ന്യായപ്രമാണത്തെ നിരസിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞതുകൊണ്ടു, ഞാൻ അവരുടെ വിചാരങ്ങളുടെ ഫലമായി അനൎത്ഥം അവരുടെമേൽ വരുത്തും.

Hear thou—O earth, Lo! I, am bringing in Calamity against this people the fruit of their own devices, —For unto my words, have they not given heed, And as for my law, they have rejected it.

20 ശെബയിൽനിന്നു കുന്തുരുക്കവും ദൂരദേശത്തുനിന്നു വയമ്പും എനിക്കു കൊണ്ടുവരുന്നതു എന്തിനു? നിങ്ങളുടെ ഹോമയാഗങ്ങളിൽ എനിക്കു പ്രസാദമില്ല; നിങ്ങളുടെ ഹനനയാഗങ്ങളിൽ എനിക്കു ഇഷ്ടവുമില്ല.

What then is it to me that—Frankincense from Shebah come in, or Sweet cane from a land afar off? Your own ascending-offerings, are not acceptable, Nor are, your sacrifices, pleasing to me.

21 ആകയാൽ യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു: ഞാൻ ഈ ജനത്തിന്റെ മുമ്പിൽ ഇടൎച്ചകളെ വെക്കും; പിതാക്കന്മാരും പുത്രന്മാരും ഒരുപോലെ അതിന്മേൽ തട്ടി വീഴും; അയല്ക്കാരനും കൂട്ടുകാരനും നശിച്ചുപോകും.

Wherefore, Thus, saith Yahweh, Behold me! laying before this people, stumblingblocks, —And fathers and sons together, shall stumble against them, The neighbour and his friend, shall perish.

22 യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു: ഇതാ, വടക്കുദേശത്തുനിന്നു ഒരു ജാതി വരുന്നു; ഭൂമിയുടെ അറ്റങ്ങളിൽനിന്നു ഒരു മഹാജാതി ഉണൎന്നുവരും.

Thus, saith Yahweh, Lo! a people coming in from the land of the North, —Yea a great nation, shall be stirred up out of the remote parts of the earth:

23 അവർ വില്ലും കുന്തവും എടുത്തിരിക്കുന്നു; അവർ ക്രൂരന്മാർ; കരുണയില്ലാത്തവർ തന്നേ; അവരുടെ ആരവം കടൽപോലെ ഇരെക്കുന്നു; സീയോൻ പുത്രീ, അവർ നിന്റെ നേരെ യുദ്ധസന്നദ്ധരായി ഓരോരുത്തരും കുതിരപ്പുറത്തു കയറി അണിനിരന്നു നില്ക്കുന്നു.

Bow and javelin, shall they grasp, Cruel, is he! So they will not have compassion, Their voice, like the sea, will roar, And on horses, will they ride, —Arrayed each one, like a man for battle, Against thee, O daughter of Zion!

24 അതിന്റെ വൎത്തമാനം കേട്ടിട്ടു ഞങ്ങളുടെ ധൈൎയ്യം ക്ഷയിച്ചു, നോവു കിട്ടിയ സ്ത്രീയെപ്പോലെ മഹാവ്യസനവും അതിവേദനയും ഞങ്ങളെ പിടിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

We have heard the report thereof, Relaxed are our hands, —Anguish, hath taken hold on us, Pangs, as on her that is giving birth.

25 നിങ്ങൾ വയലിലേക്കു ചെല്ലരുതു; വഴിയിൽ നടക്കയുമരുതു; അവിടെ ശത്രുവിന്റെ വാളും ചുറ്റും ഭയവും ഉണ്ടു.

Do not go out into the field, And in the road, do not walk, -Because a sword, hath the foe, —Terror round about!

26 എന്റെ ജനത്തിന്റെ പുത്രീ, രട്ടുടുത്തു വെണ്ണീറിൽ ഉരുളുക; ഏകജാതനെക്കുറിച്ചു എന്നപോലെയുള്ള ദുഃഖവും കഠിനമായുള്ള വിലാപവും കഴിച്ചുകൊൾക; സംഹാരകൻ പെട്ടെന്നു നമ്മുടെ നേരെ വരും.

O daughter of my people Gird thee with sackcloth and roll thyself in ashes, —The mourning for an only son, make thou for thyself, Most bitter lamentation! For suddenly, shall the destroyer come upon us.

27 നീ എന്റെ ജനത്തിന്റെ നടപ്പു പരീക്ഷിച്ചറിയേണ്ടതിന്നു ഞാൻ നിന്നെ അവരുടെ ഇടയിൽ ഒരു പരീക്ഷകനും മാറ്റുനോക്കുന്നവനും ആക്കിവെച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

An assayer, have I set thee amongst my people, of gold-ore, —That thou mayest note and try their way:

28 അവരെല്ലാവരും മഹാ മത്സരികൾ, നുണപറഞ്ഞു നടക്കുന്നവർ; ചെമ്പും ഇരിമ്പും അത്രേ; അവരെല്ലാവരും വഷളത്വം പ്രവൎത്തിക്കുന്നു.

They all, are rebels of rebels, Slander-walkers [They are] bronze and iron! As for them all, corrupters, they are!

29 തുരുത്തി ഊതുന്നു; തീയിൽനിന്നു വരുന്നതു ഈയമത്രേ; ഊതിക്കഴിക്കുന്ന പണി വെറുതെ; ദുഷ്ടന്മാർ നീങ്ങിപ്പോകുന്നില്ലല്ലോ.

Scorched are the bellows, By fire, is lead wont to be, consumed, —In vain, hath he gone on refining, For the wicked, have not been drawn out:

30 യഹോവ അവരെ ത്യജിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞതുകൊണ്ടു അവൎക്കു കറക്കൻവെള്ളി എന്നു പേരാകും.

Rejected silver, are they called, For, Yahweh, hath rejected them.
