യിരെമ്യാവു 36
1 യോശീയാവിന്റെ മകനായി യെഹൂദാരാജാവായ യെഹോയാക്കീമിന്റെ നാലാം ആണ്ടിൽ യഹോവയിങ്കൽനിന്നു യിരെമ്യാവിന്നുണ്ടായ അരുളപ്പാടാവിതു:
And it came to pass, in the fourth year of Jehoiakim son of Josiah, king of Judah, that this word came unto Jeremiah from Yahweh, saying:
2 നീ ഒരു പുസ്തകച്ചുരുൾ മേടിച്ചു, ഞാൻ യോശീയാവിന്റെ കാലത്തു നിന്നോടു സംസാരിച്ചുതുടങ്ങിയ നാൾമുതൽ ഇന്നുവരെയും യിസ്രായേലിനെയും യെഹൂദയെയും സകലജാതികളെയുംകുറിച്ചു ഞാൻ നിന്നോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്ത വചനങ്ങളൊക്കെയും അതിൽ എഴുതുക.
Take thee a scroll, and write therein all the words which I have spoken unto thee concerning Israel and concerning Judah and concerning all the nations, —from the day I began to speak unto thee from the days of Josiah, even until this day:
3 പക്ഷേ യെഹൂദാഗൃഹം ഞാൻ അവൎക്കു വരുത്തുവാൻ വിചാരിക്കുന്ന സകല അനൎത്ഥത്തെയും കുറിച്ചു കേട്ടിട്ടു ഓരോരുത്തൻ താന്താന്റെ ദുർമ്മാൎഗ്ഗം വിട്ടുതിരിവാനും ഞാൻ അവരുടെ അകൃത്യവും പാപവും ക്ഷമിപ്പാനും ഇടവരും.
Peradventure, the house of Judah will hearken unto all the calamity, which I am devising to execute against them, —to the end they may return every man from his wicked way, whereupon I will forgive their iniquity, and their sin.
4 അങ്ങനെ യിരെമ്യാവു നേൎയ്യാവിന്റെ മകനായ ബാരൂക്കിനെ വിളിച്ചു; യഹോവ യിരെമ്യാവോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്ത സകലവചനങ്ങളെയും അവന്റെ വാമൊഴിപ്രകാരം ബാരൂക്ക് ഒരു പുസ്തകച്ചുരുളിൽ എഴുതി.
So Jeremiah called Baruch, son of Neriah, —and Baruch wrote, from the mouth of Jeremiah, all the words of Yahweh which he had spoken unto him upon a scroll.
5 യിരെമ്യാവു ബാരൂക്കിനോടു കല്പിച്ചതു: ഞാൻ അടെക്കപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു; എനിക്കു യഹോവയുടെ ആലയത്തിൽ പോകുവാൻ കഴിവില്ല.
Then did Jeremiah command Baruch, saying, —I, am hindered, I cannot enter the house of Yahweh;
6 ആകയാൽ നീ ചെന്നു എന്റെ വാമൊഴികേട്ടു എഴുതിയ ചുരുളിൽനിന്നു യഹോവയുടെ വചനങ്ങളെ യഹോവയുടെ ആലയത്തിൽ ഉപവാസദിവസത്തിൽ തന്നേ ജനം കേൾക്കെ വായിക്ക; അതതു പട്ടണങ്ങളിൽനിന്നു വരുന്ന എല്ലായെഹൂദയും കേൾക്കെ നീ അതു വായിക്കേണം.
Thou, therefore shalt enter and read in the roll which thou hast written from my mouth the words of Yahweh in the ears of the people in the house of Yahweh on the day of a fast, —moreover also, in the ears of all Judah who are coming in out of their cities, shalt thou read them:
7 പക്ഷെ അവർ യഹോവയുടെ മുമ്പിൽ വീണു അപേക്ഷിച്ചുകൊണ്ടു ഓരോരുത്തൻ താന്താന്റെ ദുർമ്മാൎഗ്ഗം വിട്ടുതിരിയും; യഹോവ ഈ ജനത്തിന്നു വിധിച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന കോപവും ക്രോധവും വലിയതല്ലോ.
Peradventure, their supplication, will fall prostrate, before Yahweh, and they return every man from his wicked way, —For, great, are the anger and the indignation which Yahweh hath spoken against this people.
8 യിരെമ്യാപ്രവാചകൻ തന്നോടു കല്പിച്ചതുപോലെയൊക്കെയും നേൎയ്യാവിന്റെ മകനായ ബാരൂക്ക് ചെയ്തു, യഹോവയുടെ ആലയത്തിൽ ആ പുസ്തകത്തിൽനിന്നു യഹോവയുടെ വചനങ്ങളെ വായിച്ചു കേൾപ്പിച്ചു.
So then Baruch son of Neriah did according to all which Jeremiah the prophet commanded him, reading in the book the words of Yahweh in the house of Yahweh.
9 യോശീയാവിന്റെ മകനായി യെഹൂദാരാജാവായ യെഹോയാക്കീമിന്റെ അഞ്ചാം ആണ്ടിൽ, ഒമ്പതാം മാസത്തിൽ, അവർ യെരൂശലേമിലെ സകല ജനത്തിന്നും യെഹൂദാപട്ടണങ്ങളിൽനിന്നു യെരൂശലേമിൽ വന്ന സകലജനത്തിന്നും യഹോവയുടെ മുമ്പാകെ ഒരു ഉപവാസം പ്രസിദ്ധമാക്കി,
And it came to pass in the fifth year of Jehoiakim son of Josiah king of Judah in the ninth month, that all the people of Jerusalem, and all the people who were coming in out of the cities of Judah into Jerusalem, had proclaimed a fast before Yahweh;
10 അപ്പോൾ ബാരൂക്ക് യഹോവയുടെ ആലയത്തിൽ, യഹോവയുടെ ആലയത്തിന്റെ പുതിയവാതിലിന്റെ പ്രവേശനത്തിങ്കൽ, മേലത്തെ മുറ്റത്തു, ശാഫാന്റെ മകനായ ഗെമൎയ്യാരായസക്കാരന്റെ മുറിയിൽവെച്ചു ആ പുസ്തകത്തിൽനിന്നു യിരെമ്യാവിന്റെ വചനങ്ങളെ സകലജനത്തെയും വായിച്ചുകേൾപ്പിച്ചു.
Baruch, therefore, read in the book the words of Jeremiah, in the house of Yahweh, —in the chamber of Gemariah son of Shaphan—the scribe, in the upper court, at the opening of the new gate of the house of Yahweh, in the ears of all the people.
11 ശാഫാന്റെ മകനായ ഗെമൎയ്യാവിന്റെ മകൻ മീഖായാവു യഹോവയുടെ വചനങ്ങളൊക്കെയും പുസ്തകത്തിൽനിന്നു വായിച്ചു കേട്ടപ്പോൾ
When Micaiah, son of Gemariah son of Shaphan, heard all the words of Yahweh out of the book,
12 അവൻ രാജഗൃഹത്തിൽ രായസക്കാരന്റെ മുറിയിൽ ചെന്നു; അവിടെ സകലപ്രഭുക്കന്മാരും ഇരുന്നിരുന്നു; രായസക്കാരൻ എലീശാമായും ശെമയ്യാവിന്റെ മകൻ ദെലായാവും അഖ്ബോരിന്റെ മകൻ എൽനാഥാനും ശാഫാന്റെ മകൻ ഗെമൎയ്യാവും ഹനന്യാവിന്റെ മകൻ സിദെക്കീയാവും ശേഷം പ്രഭുക്കന്മാരും തന്നേ.
then went he down unto the house of the king up to the chamber of the scribe, and lo! there, all the princes sitting, —Elishama the scribe, and Delaiah son of Shemaiah, and Elnathan son of Achbor, and Gemariah son of Shaphan and Zedekiah son of Hananiah, and all the princes,
13 ബാരൂക്ക് ജനത്തെ പുസ്തകം വായിച്ചുകേൾപ്പിച്ചപ്പോൾ, താൻ കേട്ടിരുന്ന വചനങ്ങളൊക്കെയും മീഖായാവു അവരോടു പ്രസ്താവിച്ചു.
So Micaiah told them all the words which he heard, —when Baruch read in the book in the ears of the people.
14 അപ്പോൾ സകലപ്രഭുക്കന്മാരും കൂശിയുടെ മകനായ ശെലെമ്യാവിന്റെ മകനായ നഥന്യാവിന്റെ മകൻ യെഹൂദിയെ ബാരൂക്കിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ അയച്ചു: നീ ജനത്തെ വായിച്ചുകേൾപ്പിച്ച പുസ്തകച്ചുരുൾ എടുത്തുകൊണ്ടു വരിക എന്നു പറയിച്ചു; അങ്ങനെ നേൎയ്യാവിന്റെ മകൻ ബാരൂക്ക് പുസ്തകച്ചുരുൾ എടുത്തുകൊണ്ടു അവരുടെ അടുക്കൽ വന്നു.
All the princes, therefore sent unto Baruch, Jehudi, son of Nethaniah son of Shelemiah son of Cushi saying, The roll wherein thou didst read in the ears of the people, take it in thy hand, and come, So Baruch son of Neriah took the roll in his hand, and came in unto them.
15 അവർ അവനോടു: ഇവിടെ ഇരുന്നു അതു വായിച്ചുകേൾപ്പിക്ക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു; ബാരൂക്ക് വായിച്ചുകേൾപ്പിച്ചു.
Then said they unto him, Sit down we pray thee and read it in our ears, So Baruch read it in their ears.
16 ആ വചനങ്ങളൊക്കെയും കേട്ടപ്പോൾ അവർ ഭയപ്പെട്ടു തമ്മിൽ തമ്മിൽ നോക്കി, ബാരൂക്കിനോടു: ഈ വചനങ്ങളൊക്കെയും ഞങ്ങൾ രാജാവിനെ അറിയിക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
And it came to pass when they heard all the words, that they turned with fear one to another, —and said unto Baruch, We must, surely tell, the king, all these words!
17 നീ ഈ വചനങ്ങളൊക്കെയും എങ്ങനെയാകുന്നു എഴുതിയതു? അവൻ പറഞ്ഞുതന്നിട്ടോ? ഞങ്ങളോടു പറക എന്നു അവർ ബാരൂക്കിനോടു ചോദിച്ചു.
Then unto Baruch, put they questions saying, —Tell us, we pray thee, How, didst thou write all these words at his mouth?
18 ബാരൂക്ക് അവരോടു: അവൻ ഈ വചനങ്ങളൊക്കെയും പറഞ്ഞുതന്നു, ഞാൻ മഷികൊണ്ടു പുസ്തകത്തിൽ എഴുതി എന്നുത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.
So Baruch said unto them, With his own mouth, used he to proclaim unto me all these words, —and I kept on writing in the book, with ink.
19 അപ്പോൾ പ്രഭുക്കന്മാർ ബാരൂക്കിനോടു: പോയി നീയും യിരെമ്യാവും കൂടെ ഒളിച്ചുകൊൾവിൻ; നിങ്ങൾ ഇന്നേടത്തു ഇരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു ആരും അറിയരുതു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
Then said the princes unto Baruch, Go hide thee, thou and Jeremiah, and let no man, know where ye, are!
20 അനന്തരം അവർ പുസ്തകച്ചുരുൾ രായസക്കാരനായ എലീശാമയുടെ മുറിയിൽ വെച്ചേച്ചു, അരമനയിൽ രാജാവിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ ചെന്നു ആ വചനങ്ങളൊക്കെയും രാജാവിനെ ബോധിപ്പിച്ചു.
Then went they in unto the king, into the court, but the roll, had they put in charge, in the chamber of Elishama the scribe, —so they declared in the ears of the king all the words.
21 രാജാവു ചുരുൾ എടുത്തുകൊണ്ടു വരുവാൻ യെഹൂദിയെ അയച്ചു; അവൻ രായസക്കാരനായ എലീശാമയുടെ മുറിയിൽനിന്നു അതു എടുത്തു കൊണ്ടുവന്നു; യെഹൂദി അതു രാജാവിനെയും രാജാവിന്റെ ചുറ്റും നില്ക്കുന്ന സകലപ്രഭുക്കന്മാരെയും വായിച്ചു കേൾപ്പിച്ചു.
The king, therefore sent, Jehudi, to fetch the roll, and he fetched it out of the chamber of Elishama the scribe, —and Jehudi read it in the ears of the king, and in the ears of all the princes who were standing near the king.
22 അന്നു ഒമ്പതാം മാസത്തിൽ രാജാവു ഹേമന്തഗൃഹത്തിൽ ഇരിക്കയായിരുന്നു; അവന്റെ മുമ്പാകെ നെരിപ്പോട്ടിൽ തീ കത്തിക്കൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.
Now, the king, was sitting in the winter house in the ninth month, —with the fire-stove before him burning.
23 യെഹൂദി മൂന്നു നാലു ഭാഗം വായിച്ചശേഷം രാജാവു എഴുത്തുകാരന്റെ ഒരു കത്തികൊണ്ടു അതു കണ്ടിച്ചു ചുരുൾ മുഴുവനും നെരിപ്പോട്ടിലെ തീയിൽ വെന്തുപോകുംവരെ നെരിപ്പോട്ടിൽ ഇട്ടുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.
So then it came to pass when Jehudi had read three or four columns that he cut it up into fragments with a scribe’s knife, and cast them into the fire that was in the stove, —until, all the roll, was consumed on the fire that was on the stove.
24 രാജാവാകട്ടെ ആ വചനങ്ങളൊക്കെയും കേട്ട ഭൃത്യന്മാരിൽ ആരെങ്കിലുമാകട്ടെ ഭയപ്പെടുകയോ വസ്ത്രം കീറുകയോ ചെയ്തില്ല.
Yet were they not in dread, neither rent they their garments, —the king, nor any of his servants that were hearing all these words.
25 ചുരുൾ ചുട്ടുകളയരുതേ എന്നു എൽനാഥാനും ദെലായാവും ശെമൎയ്യാവും രാജാവിനോടു അപേക്ഷിച്ചു എങ്കിലും അവൻ അവരുടെ അപേക്ഷ കേട്ടില്ല.
Nevertheless Elnathan and Delaiah and Gemariah, interceded with the king, not to burn the roll, —but he hearkened not unto them.
26 അനന്തരം ബാരൂക്ക് എന്ന എഴുത്തുകാരനെയും യിരെമ്യാപ്രവാചകനെയും പിടിപ്പാൻ രാജാവു രാജകുമാരനായ യെരഹ്മെയേലിനോടും അസ്രീയേലിന്റെ മകനായ സെരായാവോടും അബ്ദേലിന്റെ മകനായ ശെലെമ്യാവോടും കല്പിച്ചു; എന്നാൽ യഹോവ അവരെ ഒളിപ്പിച്ചു;
Then did the king command Jerahmeel son of the king, and Seraiah son of Azriel, and Shelemiah son of Abdeel, to fetch Baruch the scribe, and Jeremiah the prophet, —but Yahweh had hid them.
27 ചുരുളും ബാരൂക്ക് യിരെമ്യാവിന്റെ വാമൊഴിപ്രകാരം എഴുതിയിരുന്ന വചനങ്ങളും രാജാവു ചുട്ടുകളഞ്ഞശേഷം, യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടു യിരെമ്യാവിന്നുണ്ടായതെന്തെന്നാൽ:
Then came the word of Yahweh unto Jeremiah, after the king had burned the roll, and the words which Baruch had written from the mouth of Jeremiah saying:
28 നീ മറ്റൊരു ചുരുൾ മേടിച്ചു യെഹൂദാരാജാവായ യെഹോയാക്കീം ചുട്ടുകളഞ്ഞ മുമ്പിലത്തെ ചുരുളിൽ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്ന വചനങ്ങളൊക്കെയും അതിൽ എഴുതുക.
Again take thee another roll, and write thereon, all the former words which were on the first roll, which Jehoiakim king of Judah hath burned.
29 എന്നാൽ യെഹൂദാരാജാവായ യെഹോയാക്കീമിനോടു നീ പറയേണ്ടതു: യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു: ബാബേൽരാജാവു വന്നു ഈ ദേശത്തെ നശിപ്പിച്ചു, മനുഷ്യനെയും മൃഗത്തെയും മുടിച്ചുകളയും എന്നു നീ അതിൽ എഴുതിയതു എന്തിനു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു നീ ആ ചുരുൾ ചുട്ടുകളഞ്ഞുവല്ലോ.
But unto Jehoiakim king of Judah, shalt thou say, Thus, saith Yahweh, —Thou, hast burned this roll saying, Why hast thou written thereon—saying, The king of Babylon shall, certainly, come and lay waste this land, and cause to cease therefrom man and beast?
30 അതുകൊണ്ടു യെഹൂദാരാജാവായ യെഹോയാക്കീമിനെക്കുറിച്ചു യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു: അവന്നു ദാവീദിന്റെ സിംഹാസനത്തിൽ ഇരിപ്പാൻ ഒരുത്തനും ഉണ്ടാകയില്ല; അവന്റെ ശവം പകൽ വെയിലും രാത്രിയിൽ മഞ്ഞു ഏല്പാൻ എറിഞ്ഞുകളയും.
Therefore, Thus, saith Yahweh, Concerning Jehoiakim king of Judah, —He shall have none to sit upon the throne of David, —And, his dead body, shall be cast out—to the heat by day, and to the frost by night;
31 ഞാൻ അവനെയും അവന്റെ സന്തതിയെയും ഭൃത്യന്മാരെയും അവരുടെ അകൃത്യംനിമിത്തം സന്ദൎശിക്കും; അവൎക്കും യെരൂശലേം നിവാസികൾക്കും യെഹൂദാപുരുഷന്മാൎക്കും വരുത്തുമെന്നു ഞാൻ വിധിച്ചതും അവർ ശ്രദ്ധിക്കാത്തതുമായ അനൎത്ഥമൊക്കെയും ഞാൻ അവൎക്കു വരുത്തും.
And I will visit upon him and upon his seed and upon his servants the punishment of their iniquity, —and will bring upon them and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem and against, the men of Judah, all the calamity, which I have spoken against them but they have not hearkened.
32 അങ്ങനെ യിരെമ്യാവു മറ്റൊരു ചുരുൾ എടുത്തു നേൎയ്യാവിന്റെ മകൻ ബാരൂക്ക് എന്ന എഴുത്തുകാരന്റെ കയ്യിൽ കൊടുത്തു; അവൻ യെഹൂദാരാജാവായ യെഹോയാക്കീം തീയിൽ ഇട്ടു ചുട്ടുകളഞ്ഞ പുസ്തകത്തിലെ വചനങ്ങളൊക്കെയും യിരെമ്യാവിന്റെ വാമൊഴിപ്രകാരം അതിൽ എഴുതി; അതുപോലെയുള്ള ഏറിയ വചനങ്ങളും ചേൎത്തെഴുതുവാൻ സംഗതിവന്നു.
So, Jeremiah, took another roll and gave it unto Baruch son of Neriah the scribe, who wrote thereon, from the mouth of Jeremiah all the words of the book, which Jehoiakim king of Judah had burned, in the fire, —and further were added thereunto many words like unto them
