പുറപ്പാട് 4

1 അതിന്നു മോശെ: അവർ എന്നെ വിശ്വസിക്കാതെയും എന്റെ വാക്കു കേൾക്കാതെയും: യഹോവ നിനക്കു പ്രത്യക്ഷനായിട്ടില്ല എന്നു പറയും എന്നുത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.

Then responded Moses, and said, And lo! they will not believe me, neither hearken to my voice, —for they will say, Yahweh, hath not appeared unto thee.

2 യഹോവ അവനോടു: നിന്റെ കയ്യിൽ ഇരിക്കുന്നതു എന്തു എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു. ഒരു വടി എന്നു അവൻ പറഞ്ഞു.

And Yahweh said unto him—What is this in thy hand? And he said—A staff.

3 അതു നിലത്തിടുക എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു. അവൻ നിലത്തിട്ടു; അതു ഒരു സർപ്പമായ്തീൎന്നു; മോശെ അതിനെ കണ്ടു ഓടിപ്പോയി.

Then said he—Cast it to the earth. And he cast it to the earth, and it became a serpent, —and Moses fled from the face thereof.

4 യഹോവ മോശെയോടു: നിന്റെ കൈ നീട്ടി അതിനെ വാലിന്നു പിടിക്ക എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു. അവൻ കൈ നീട്ടി അതിനെ പിടിച്ചു; അതു അവന്റെ കയ്യിൽ വടിയായ്തീൎന്നു.

And Yahweh said unto Moses, Put forth thy hand, and take it by its tail: So he put forth his hand, and laid hold of it, and it became a staff in his hand: —

5 ഇതു അബ്രാഹാമിന്റെ ദൈവവും യിസ്ഹാക്കിന്റെ ദൈവവും യാക്കോബിന്റെ ദൈവവും ആയി അവരുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാരുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ നിനക്കു പ്രത്യക്ഷനായി എന്നു അവർ വിശ്വസിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ആകുന്നു

that they may believe that Yahweh, God of their fathers, —God of Abraham, God of Isaac, and God of Jacob hath appeared unto thee.

6 യഹോവ പിന്നെയും അവനോടു: നിന്റെ കൈ മാൎവ്വിടത്തിൽ ഇടുക എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു. അവൻ കൈ മാൎവ്വിടത്തിൽ ഇട്ടു; പുറത്തു എടുത്തപ്പോൾ കൈ ഹിമംപോലെ വെളുത്തു കുഷ്ഠമുള്ളതായി കണ്ടു.

Then said Yahweh unto him, yet again—Bring, I pray thee, thy hand, into thy bosom. So he brought his hand, into his bosom, —and then took it out, and lo! his hand, was leprous, —like snow,

7 നിന്റെ കൈ വീണ്ടും മാൎവ്വിടത്തിൽ ഇടുക എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു. അവൻ കൈ വീണ്ടും മാൎവ്വിടത്തിൽ ഇട്ടു, മാൎവ്വിടത്തിൽനിന്നു പുറത്തെടുത്തപ്പോൾ, അതു വീണ്ടും അവന്റെ മറ്റേ മാംസംപോലെ ആയി കണ്ടു.

And he said—Put back thy hand into thy bosom: So he put back his hand into his bosom, —and then took it out of his bosom, and lo it had come again like his own flesh:

8 എന്നാൽ അവർ വിശ്വസിക്കാതെയും ആദ്യത്തെ അടയാളം അനുസരിക്കാതെയും ഇരുന്നാൽ അവർ പിന്നത്തെ അടയാളം വിശ്വസിക്കും.

thus shall it come to pass, if they will not believe thee, nor hearken to the voice of the first sign, then will they believe the voice of the next sign;

9 ഈ രണ്ടടയാളങ്ങളും അവർ വിശ്വസിക്കാതെയും നിന്റെ വാക്കു കേൾക്കാതെയും ഇരുന്നാൽ നീ നദിയിലെ വെള്ളം കോരി ഉണങ്ങിയ നിലത്തു ഒഴിക്കേണം; നദിയിൽ നിന്നു കോരിയ വെള്ളം ഉണങ്ങിയ നിലത്തു രക്തമായ്തീരും.

and it shall come to pass if they will not believe even these two signs nor hearken to thy voice, then shalt thou take of the water of the river, and pour it out on the dry land, —so shall the water which thou hast taken from the river, become, yea it shall become, blood, on the dry land.

10 മോശെ യഹോവയോടു: കൎത്താവേ, മുമ്പേ തന്നെയും നീ അടിയനോടു സംസാരിച്ചശേഷവും ഞാൻ വാക്സാമൎത്ഥ്യമുള്ളവനല്ല; ഞാൻ വിക്കനും തടിച്ച നാവുള്ളവനും ആകുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

And Moses said unto Yahweh—Pardon, O My Lord! not a man of words, am I, neither heretofore, nor since thou hast spoken unto thy servant, —for heavy of mouth and heavy of tongue, I am.

11 അതിന്നു യഹോവ അവനോടു: മനുഷ്യന്നു വായി കൊടുത്തതു ആർ? അല്ല, ഊമനെയും ചെകിടനെയും കാഴ്ചയുള്ളവനെയും കുരുടനെയും ഉണ്ടാക്കിയതു ആർ? യഹോവയായ ഞാൻ അല്ലയോ? ആകയാൽ നീ ചെല്ലുക;

Then Yahweh said unto him—Who appointed a mouth for man, or who appointeth him to be dumb, or deaf, or seeing or blind? Is it not I, Yahweh?

12 ഞാൻ നിന്റെ വായോടുകൂടെ ഇരുന്നു നീ സംസാരിക്കേണ്ടതു നിനക്കു ഉപദേശിച്ചുതരും എന്നു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു.

Now, therefore go, —and, I, will be with thy mouth, so will I direct thee, what thou shalt speak.

13 എന്നാൽ അവൻ: കൎത്താവേ, നിനക്കു ബോധിച്ച മറ്റാരെയെങ്കിലും അയക്കേണമേ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

And he said—Pardon, O My Lord! send, I pray thee by the hand of him whom thou wilt send—

14 അപ്പോൾ യഹോവയുടെ കോപം മോശെയുടെ നേരെ ജ്വലിച്ചു, അവൻ അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു: ലേവ്യനായ അഹരോൻ നിന്റെ സഹോദരനല്ലയോ? അവന്നു നല്ലവണ്ണം സംസാരിക്കാമെന്നു ഞാൻ അറിയുന്നു. അവൻ നിന്നെ എതിരേല്പാൻ പുറപ്പെട്ടുവരുന്നു; നിന്നെ കാണുമ്പോൾ അവൻ ഹൃദയത്തിൽ ആനന്ദിക്കും.

Then was kindled the anger of Yahweh against Moses, and he said—Is there not Aaron, thy brother, the Levite? I know that he, can speak. Moreover also lo! he himself is coming forth to meet thee, as surely as he seeth thee, so surely will he rejoice in his heart.

15 നീ അവനോടു സംസാരിച്ചു അവന്നു വാക്കു പറഞ്ഞുകൊടുക്കേണം. ഞാൻ നിന്റെ വായോടും അവന്റെ വായോടുംകൂടെ ഇരിക്കും; നിങ്ങൾ ചെയ്യേണ്ടുന്നതു ഉപദേശിച്ചു തരും.

Then shalt thou speak unto him, and shalt put the words in his mouth, —and, I, will be with thy mouth and with his mouth, so will I direct you what ye shall do.

16 നിനക്കു പകരം അവൻ ജനത്തോടു സംസാരിക്കും; അവൻ നിനക്കു വായായിരിക്കും, നീ അവന്നു ദൈവവും ആയിരിക്കും.

And, he, shall speak for thee unto the people, —so shall it come to pass that he shall become thy mouth, and thou shalt become to him as God.

17 അടയാളങ്ങൾ പ്രവൎത്തിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ഈ വടിയും നിന്റെ കയ്യിൽ എടുത്തുകൊൾക.

And this staff, take thou in thy hand, —wherewith thou shalt do the signs.

18 പിന്നെ മോശെ തന്റെ അമ്മായപ്പനായ യിത്രോവിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ ചെന്നു അവനോടു: ഞാൻ പുറപ്പെട്ടു, മിസ്രയീമിലെ എന്റെ സഹോദരന്മാരുടെ അടുക്കൽ ചെന്നു, അവർ ജീവനോടിരിക്കുന്നുവോ എന്നു നോക്കട്ടെ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. യിത്രോ മോശെയോടു: സമാധാനത്തോടെ പോക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

So Moses went and returned unto Jethro his father-in-law and said to him—Let me go, I pray thee, and return unto my brethren who are in Egypt, that I may see whether they are yet alive. And Jethro said to Moses: Go and prosper.

19 യഹോവ മിദ്യാനിൽവെച്ചു മോശെയോടു: മിസ്രയീമിലേക്കു മടങ്ങിപ്പോക; നിനക്കു ജീവഹാനി വരുത്തുവാൻ നോക്കിയവർ എല്ലാവരും മരിച്ചുപോയി എന്നു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു.

Then said Yahweh unto Moses in Midian, Go, return to Egypt, —for all the men are dead who were seeking thy life.

20 അങ്ങനെ മോശെ തന്റെ ഭാൎയ്യയെയും പുത്രന്മാരെയും കൂട്ടി കഴുതപ്പുറത്തു കയറ്റി മിസ്രയിംദേശത്തേക്കു മടങ്ങി; ദൈവത്തിന്റെ വടിയും മോശെ കയ്യിൽ എടുത്തു.

So Moses took his wife and his sons, and caused them to ride upon the ass, and he returned to the land of Egypt, —and Moses took the staff of God in his hand.

21 യഹോവ മോശെയോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതു: നീ മിസ്രയീമിൽ ചെന്നെത്തുമ്പോൾ ഞാൻ നിന്നെ ഭരമേല്പിച്ചിട്ടുള്ള അത്ഭുതങ്ങളൊക്കെയും ഫറവോന്റെ മുമ്പാകെ ചെയ്‌വാൻ ഓൎത്തുകൊൾക; എന്നാൽ അവൻ ജനത്തെ വിട്ടയക്കാതിരിപ്പാൻ ഞാൻ അവന്റെ ഹൃദയം കഠിനമാക്കും.

And Yahweh said unto Moses, When thou goest to return to Egypt, see as touching all the wonders which I have put in thy hand, that thou do them before Pharaoh—but, I, will let his heart wax bold, and he will not suffer the people to go.

22 നീ ഫറവോനോടു: യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു: യിസ്രായേൽ എന്റെ പുത്രൻ, എന്റെ ആദ്യജാതൻ തന്നേ.

Then shalt thou say unto Pharaoh, Thus, saith Yahweh—My son—my firstborn, is Israel;

23 എനിക്കു ശുശ്രൂഷ ചെയ്‌വാൻ എന്റെ പുത്രനെ വിട്ടയക്കേണമെന്നു ഞാൻ നിന്നോടു കല്പിക്കുന്നു; അവനെ വിട്ടയപ്പാൻ സമ്മതിക്കുന്നില്ലെങ്കിൽ ഞാൻ നിന്റെ പുത്രനെ, നിന്റെ ആദ്യജാതനെ തന്നേ കൊന്നുകളയും എന്നു പറക.

Therefore I say unto thee, Let my son go, that he may serve me, But if thou refuse to let him go, behold, I, am going to slay, thy son, thy firstborn.

24 എന്നാൽ വഴിയിൽ സത്രത്തിൽവെച്ചു യഹോവ അവനെ എതിരിട്ടു കൊല്ലുവാൻ ഭാവിച്ചു.

And it came to pass, on the way, in the resting-place for the night, that Yahweh fell upon him, and sought to kill him.

25 അപ്പോൾ സിപ്പോരാ ഒരു കൽക്കത്തി എടുത്തു തന്റെ മകന്റെ അഗ്രചൎമ്മം ഛേദിച്ചു അവന്റെ കാൽക്കൽ ഇട്ടു: നീ എനിക്കു രക്തമണവാളൻ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

So Zipporah took a sharp stone and cut off the foreskin of her son, and cast it down at his feet, —and said—Surely, a bridegroom by rites of blood, art thou to me!

26 ഇങ്ങനെ അവൻ അവനെ വിട്ടൊഴിഞ്ഞു; ആ സമയത്താകുന്നു അവൾ പരിച്ഛേദന നിമിത്തം രക്തമണവാളൻ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞതു.

So he let him go, Then, it was that she said, A bridegroom by rites of blood—with regard to the rites of circumcision.

27 എന്നാൽ യഹോവ അഹരോനോടു: നീ മരുഭൂമിയിൽ മോശെയെ എതിരേല്പാൻ ചെല്ലുക എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു; അവൻ ചെന്നു ദൈവത്തിന്റെ പൎവ്വതത്തിങ്കൽവെച്ചു അവനെ എതിരേറ്റു ചുംബിച്ചു.

And Yahweh said unto Aaron, Go thy way to meet Moses, towards the desert. So he went his way, and fell in with him in the mountain of God and kissed him.

28 യഹോവ തന്നേ ഏല്പിച്ചയച്ച വചനങ്ങളൊക്കെയും തന്നോടു കല്പിച്ച അടയാളങ്ങളൊക്കെയും മോശെ അഹരോനെ അറിയിച്ചു.

And Moses told Aaron, all the words of Yahweh wherewith he had sent him, —and all the signs wherewith he had charged him.

29 പിന്നെ മോശെയും അഹരോനും പോയി, യിസ്രായേൽമക്കളുടെ മൂപ്പന്മാരെ ഒക്കെയും കൂട്ടിവരുത്തി.

So Moses and Aaron went their way, —and gathered together all the elders of the sons of Israel.

30 യഹോവ മോശെയോടു കല്പിച്ച വചനങ്ങളെല്ലാം അഹരോൻ പറഞ്ഞു കേൾപ്പിച്ചു, ജനം കാൺകെ ആ അടയാളങ്ങളും പ്രവൎത്തിച്ചു.

And Aaron spake all the words which Yahweh had spoken unto Moses, —and did the signs before the eyes of the people,

31 അപ്പോൾ ജനം വിശ്വസിച്ചു; യഹോവ യിസ്രായേൽമക്കളെ സന്ദൎശിച്ചു എന്നും തങ്ങളുടെ കഷ്ടത കടാക്ഷിച്ചു എന്നും കേട്ടിട്ടു അവർ കുമ്പിട്ടു നമസ്കരിച്ചു.

And the people believed, —and when they heard that Yahweh had concerned himself for the sons of Israel, and that he had looked upon their humiliation, then bent they their heads and bowed themselves down.
