1 കൈസൎയ്യയിൽ ഇത്താലിക എന്ന പട്ടാളത്തിൽ കൊൎന്നേല്യൊസ് എന്നു പേരുള്ളോരു ശതാധിപൻ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.
Now there was a certain man in Cesarea, named Cornelius, a centurion that called the Italian Band,
2 അവൻ ഭക്തനും തന്റെ സകലഗൃഹത്തോടും കൂടെ ദൈവത്തെ ഭയപ്പെടുന്നവനുമായി ജനത്തിന്നു വളരെ ധൎമ്മം കൊടുത്തും എപ്പോഴും ദൈവത്തോടു പ്രാൎത്ഥിച്ചും പോന്നു.
a man of piety, and one that feared God, with all his house; giving, also, much alms to the people, and praying to God continually.
3 അവൻ പകൽ ഏകദേശം ഒമ്പതാം മണിനേരത്തു ഒരു ദൎശനത്തിൽ ഒരു ദൈവദൂതൻ തന്റെ അടുക്കൽ അകത്തു വരുന്നതു സ്പഷ്ടമായി കണ്ടു: കൊൎന്നേല്യൊസേ എന്നു തന്നോടു പറയുന്നതും കേട്ടു.
He evidently saw, in a vision, about the ninth hour of the day, a messenger of God coming in to him, and saying to him, Cornelius!
4 അവൻ അവനെ ഉറ്റു നോക്കി ഭയപരവശനായി: എന്താകുന്നു കൎത്താവേ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു. അവൻ അവനോടു: നിന്റെ പ്രാൎത്ഥനയും ധൎമ്മവും ദൈവത്തിന്റെ മുമ്പിൽ എത്തിയിരിക്കുന്നു.
And having fixed his eyes upon him, he was afraid, and said, What is it, Lord? And he said to him, Your prayers and your alms are come up, as a memorial before God.
5 ഇപ്പോൾ യോപ്പയിലേക്കു ആളയച്ചു, പത്രൊസ് എന്നു മറുപേരുള്ള ശിമോനെ വരുത്തുക.
And now send men to Joppa and bring hither Simon, whose surname is Peter:
6 അവൻ തോൽക്കൊല്ലനായ ശിമോൻ എന്നൊരുവനോടു കൂടെ പാൎക്കുന്നു. അവന്റെ വീടു കടല്പുറത്തു ആകുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
he lodges with one Simon, a tanner, whose house is by the seaside.
7 അവനോടു സംസാരിച്ച ദൂതൻ പോയ ശേഷം അവൻ തന്റെ വേലക്കാരിൽ രണ്ടുപേരെയും തന്റെ അടുക്കൽ അകമ്പടി നില്ക്കുന്നവരിൽ ദൈവഭക്തനായോരു പടയാളിയേയും
As soon as the messenger, who spoke to Cornelius, was gone, he called two of his domestics, and a pious soldier, of them that waited upon him;
8 വിളിച്ചു സകലവും വിവരിച്ചുപറഞ്ഞു യോപ്പയിലേക്കു അയച്ചു
and having related to them all these things, he sent them to Joppa.
9 പിറ്റെന്നാൾ അവർ യാത്രചെയ്തു പട്ടണത്തോടു സമീപിക്കുമ്പോൾ പത്രൊസ് ആറാം മണിനേരത്തു പ്രാൎത്ഥിപ്പാൻ വെണ്മാടത്തിൽ കയറി.
On the next day, while they were on their journey, and drew near the city, Peter went up to the top of the house to pray, about the sixth hour.
10 അവൻ വളരെ വിശന്നിട്ടു ഭക്ഷിപ്പാൻ ആഗ്രഹിച്ചു; അവർ ഒരുക്കുമ്പോഴേക്കു അവന്നു ഒരു വിവശത വന്നു.
And he was hungry, and would have taken a little refreshment; but while they were preparing, he fell into an ecstasy;
11 ആകാശം തുറന്നിരിക്കുന്നതും വലിയൊരു തുപ്പട്ടിപോലെ നാലു കോണും കെട്ടീട്ടു ഭൂമിയിലേക്കു ഇറക്കിവിട്ടോരു പാത്രം വരുന്നതും അവൻ കണ്ടു.
and he saw heaven opened, and something descending like a great sheet, fastened at the four corners, and let down to the earth:
12 അതിൽ ഭൂമിയിലെ സകലവിധ നാൽക്കാലിയും ഇഴജാതിയും ആകാശത്തിലെ പറവയും ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.
in which there were all sorts of things, even four-footed animals of the earth, and wild beasts, and reptiles, and fowls of the air.
13 പത്രൊസേ, എഴുന്നേറ്റു അറുത്തു തിന്നുക എന്നു ഒരു ശബ്ദം ഉണ്ടായി.
And there came a voice to him, Rise, Peter, kill, and eat.
14 അതിന്നു പത്രൊസ്: ഒരിക്കലും പാടില്ല, കൎത്താവേ; മലിനമോ അശുദ്ധമോ ആയതൊന്നും ഞാൻ ഒരുനാളും തിന്നിട്ടില്ലല്ലോ.
But Peter said, By no means, Lord; for I have never eat anything which is common or unclean.
15 ആ ശബ്ദം രണ്ടാംപ്രാവശ്യം അവനോടു: ദൈവം ശുദ്ധീകരിച്ചതു നീ മലിനമെന്നു വിചാരിക്കരുതു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
And the voice said to him again, the second time, Those things which God has cleansed, do not you call common.
16 ഇങ്ങനെ മൂന്നു പ്രാവശ്യം ഉണ്ടായി; ഉടനെ പാത്രം തിരികെ ആകാശത്തിലേക്കു വലിച്ചെടുത്തു.
And this was done three times, and the sheet was taken up again into heaven.
17 ഈ കണ്ട ദൎശനം എന്തായിരിക്കും എന്നു പത്രൊസ് ഉള്ളിൽ ചഞ്ചലിച്ചു കൊണ്ടിരിക്കുമ്പോൾ കൊൎന്നേല്യൊസ് അയച്ച പുരുഷന്മാർ ശിമോന്റെ വീടു ചോദിച്ചുകൊണ്ടു പടിവാതിൽക്കൽ നിന്നു:
While Peter was pondering in himself, what the vision, which he had seen, might import; behold, the men, who were sent from Cornelius, having inquired out the house of Simon, stood at the door;
18 പത്രൊസ് എന്നു മറു പേരുള്ള ശിമോൻ ഇവിടെ പാൎക്കുന്നുണ്ടോഎന്നു വിളിച്ചു ചോദിച്ചു.
and calling, they asked, if Simon, whose surname was Peter, lodged there.
19 പത്രൊസ് ദൎശനത്തെക്കുറിച്ചു ചിന്തിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുമ്പോൾ ആത്മാവു അവനോടു: മൂന്നു പുരുഷന്മാർ നിന്നെ അന്വേഷിക്കുന്നു;
Now, as Peter was reflecting on this vision; the Spirit said to him, Behold, three men are inquiring for you:
20 നീ എഴുന്നേറ്റു ഇറങ്ങിച്ചെല്ലുക; ഞാൻ അവരെ അയച്ചതാകകൊണ്ടു ഒന്നും സംശയിക്കാതെ അവരോടു കൂടെ പോക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
arise, therefore, go down, and go with them without hesitation; for I have sent them.
21 പത്രൊസ് ആ പുരുഷന്മാരുടെ അടുക്കൽ ഇറങ്ങിച്ചെന്നു: നിങ്ങൾ അന്വേഷിക്കുന്നവൻ ഞാൻ തന്നെ; നിങ്ങൾ വന്ന സംഗതി എന്തു എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.
Then Peter went down to the men, who were sent to him from Cornelius, and said, Behold, I am the man whom you seek; what is the cause of your coming?
22 അതിന്നു അവർ: നീതിമാനും ദൈവഭക്തനും യെഹൂദന്മാരുടെ സകലജാതിയാലും നല്ല സാക്ഷ്യംകൊണ്ടവനും ആയ കൊൎന്നേല്യൊസ് എന്ന ശതാധിപന്നു നിന്നെ വീട്ടിൽ വരുത്തി നിന്റെ പ്രസംഗം കേൾക്കേണം എന്നു ഒരു വിശുദ്ധദൂതനാൽ അരുളപ്പാടുണ്ടായിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
And they said, Cornelius, the centurion, a righteous man, who fears God, and has a character attested by all the Jewish people, has been instructed, by a holy messenger, to send for you to his house, and to hear words from you.
23 അവൻ അവരെ അകത്തു വിളിച്ചു പാൎപ്പിച്ചു; പിറ്റെന്നാൾ എഴുന്നേറ്റു അവരോടുകൂടെ പുറപ്പെട്ടു; യോപ്പയിലെ സഹോദരന്മാർ ചിലരും അവനോടുകൂടെ പോയി.
Having, therefore, called them in, he entertained them, and the next day set out with them: and some of the brethren, who were of Joppa, went with him.
24 പിറ്റെന്നാൾ കൈസൎയ്യയിൽ എത്തി; അവിടെ കൊൎന്നേല്യൊസ് ചാൎച്ചക്കാരെയും അടുത്ത സ്നേഹിതന്മാരെയും കൂട്ടിവരുത്തി, അവൎക്കായി കാത്തിരുന്നു.
And the next day they entered into Cesarea; and Cornelius was waiting for them, having called together his relations and intimate friends.
25 പത്രൊസ് അകത്തു കയറിയപ്പോൾ കൊൎന്നേല്യൊസ് എതിരേറ്റു അവന്റെ കാല്ക്കുൽ വീണു നമസ്കരിച്ചു.
Now, as Peter was coming in, Cornelius met him, and prostrating himself at his feet, made obeisance.
26 പത്രൊസോ: എഴുന്നേല്ക്കു, ഞാനും ഒരു മനുഷ്യനത്രെ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു അവനെ എഴുന്നേല്പിച്ചു,
But Peter raised him up, saying, Arise; I also am a man.
27 അവനോടു സംഭാഷിച്ചുംകൊണ്ടു അകത്തു ചെന്നു, അനേകർ വന്നു കൂടിയിരിക്കുന്നതു കണ്ടു അവനോടു:
And discoursing with him, he went in, and found many gathered together.
28 അന്യജാതിക്കാരന്റെ അടുക്കൽ ചെല്ലുന്നതും അവനുമായി പെരുമാറ്റം ചെയ്യുന്നതും യെഹൂദന്നു നിഷിദ്ധം എന്നു നിങ്ങൾ അറിയുന്നുവല്ലോ. എങ്കിലും ഒരു മനുഷ്യനെയും മലിനനോ അശുദ്ധനോ എന്നു പറയരുതെന്നു ദൈവം എനിക്കു കാണിച്ചു തന്നിരിക്കുന്നു.
And he said to them, You know that it is unlawful for a man that is a Jew to join with, or to come into the house of, one of another nation; nevertheless, God has shown me that I am to call no man common or unclean.
29 അതുകൊണ്ടാകുന്നു നിങ്ങൾ ആളയച്ചപ്പോൾ ഞാൻ എതിർ പറയാതെ വന്നതു; എന്നാൽ എന്നെ വിളിപ്പിച്ച സംഗതി എന്തു എന്നു അറിഞ്ഞാൽ കൊള്ളാം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
Wherefore, when I was sent for, I came without debate: I ask, therefore, on what account you have sent for me?
30 അതിന്നു കൊൎന്നേല്യൊസ്: നാലാകുന്നാൾ ഈ നേരത്തു ഞാൻ വീട്ടിൽ ഒമ്പതാം മണിനേരത്തെ പ്രാൎത്ഥന കഴിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുമ്പോൾ ശുഭ്രവസ്ത്രം ധരിച്ചോരു പുരുഷൻ എന്റെ മുമ്പിൽ നിന്നു:
And Cornelius said, Four days ago, I was fasting till this hour; and at the ninth hour I prayed in my house; and, behold, a man stood before me in bright raiment,
31 കൊൎന്നേല്യൊസേ, ദൈവം നിന്റെ പ്രാൎത്ഥന കേട്ടു നിന്റെ ധൎമ്മം ഓൎത്തിരിക്കുന്നു.
and said, Cornelius, your prayer is heard, and your alms are remembered before God:
32 യോപ്പയിലേക്കു ആളയച്ചു പത്രൊസ് എന്നു മറുപേരുള്ള ശിമോനെ വിളിപ്പിക്ക; അവൻ കടല്പുറത്തു തോൽക്കൊല്ലനായ ശീമോന്റെ വീട്ടിൽ പാൎക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
send, therefore, to Joppa, and call hither Simon, whose surname is Peter; he lodges in the house of one Simon, a tanner, by the seaside; who, when he is come, shall speak to you.
33 ക്ഷണത്തിൽ ഞാൻ നിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ ആളയച്ചു; നീ വന്നതു ഉപകാരം. കൎത്താവു നിന്നോടു കല്പിച്ചതൊക്കെയും കേൾപ്പാൻ ഞങ്ങൾ എല്ലാവരും ഇവിടെ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ മുമ്പാകെ കൂടിയിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
Immediately, therefore, I sent to you, and you have done well in coming. Now, therefore, we are all here present before God, to hear all things which God has given to you in charge.
34 അപ്പോൾ പത്രൊസ് വായി തുറന്നു പറഞ്ഞു തുടങ്ങിയതു: ദൈവത്തിന്നു മുഖപക്ഷമില്ല എന്നും
Then Peter, opening his mouth, said, Of a truth, I perceive that God is no respecter of persons;
35 ഏതു ജാതിയിലും അവനെ ഭയപ്പെട്ടു നീതി പ്രവൎത്തിക്കുന്നവനെ അവൻ അംഗീകരിക്കുന്നു എന്നും ഞാൻ ഇപ്പോൾ യാഥാൎത്ഥമായി ഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നു.
but, in every nation, he that fears him, and works of righteousness, is acceptable to him.
36 അവൻ എല്ലാവരുടെയും കൎത്താവായ യേശുക്രിസ്തുമൂലം സമാധാനം സുവിശേഷിച്ചുകൊണ്ടു യിസ്രായേൽ മക്കൾക്കു അയച്ച വചനം,
This is that message which he sent to the children of Israel; proclaiming the glad tidings of peace by Jesus Christ, who is Lord of all.
37 യോഹന്നാൻ പ്രസംഗിച്ച സ്നാനത്തിന്റെശേഷം ഗലീലയിൽ തുടങ്ങി യെഹൂദ്യയിൽ ഒക്കെയും ഉണ്ടായ വൎത്തമാനം,
You know the report there was, through all Judea, which began from Galilee, after the immersion which John preached,
38 നസറായനായ യേശുവിനെ ദൈവം പരിശുദ്ധാത്മാവിനാലും ശക്തിയാലും അഭിഷേകം ചെയ്തതും ദൈവം അവനോടുകൂടെ ഇരുന്നതുകൊണ്ടു അവൻ നന്മചെയ്തും പിശാചു ബാധിച്ചവരെ ഒക്കെയും സൌഖ്യമാക്കിയുംകൊണ്ടു സഞ്ചരിച്ചതുമായ വിവരം തന്നേ നിങ്ങൾ അറിയുന്നുവല്ലോ.
concerning Jesus of Nazareth; how God anointed him with the Holy Spirit, and with power; who went about doing good, and healing all who were oppressed by the devil; for God was with him.
39 യെഹൂദ്യദേശത്തിലും യെരൂശലേമിലും അവൻ ചെയ്ത സകലത്തിനും ഞങ്ങൾ സാക്ഷികൾ ആകുന്നു. അവനെ അവർ മരത്തിന്മേൽ തൂക്കിക്കൊന്നു;
And we are witnesses of all things which he did, both in the region of the Jews, and in Jerusalem: whom they slew, hanging him on a tree.
40 ദൈവം അവനെ മൂന്നാം നാൾ ഉയിൎത്തെഴുന്നേല്പിച്ചു,
This very person God raised up, on the third day, and granted him to become manifest;
41 സകല ജനത്തിന്നുമല്ല, ദൈവം മുമ്പുകൂട്ടി നിയമിച്ച സാക്ഷികളായി, അവൻ മരിച്ചവരിൽനിന്നു ഉയിൎത്തെഴുന്നേറ്റശേഷം അവനോടുകൂടെ തിന്നുകുടിച്ചവരായ ഞങ്ങൾക്കു തന്നേ പ്രത്യക്ഷനാക്കിത്തന്നു.
not to all the people, but to witnesses before appointed by God, even to us, who have eat and drunk with him after he arose from the dead.
42 ജീവികൾക്കും മരിച്ചവൎക്കും ന്യായാധിപതിയായി ദൈവത്താൽ നിയമിക്കപ്പെട്ടവൻ അവൻ തന്നേ എന്നു ജനത്തോടു പ്രസംഗിച്ചു സാക്ഷീകരിപ്പാൻ അവൻ ഞങ്ങളോടു കല്പിച്ചു.
And he has given in charge to us to proclaim to the people, and to testify that it is he who is appointed by God, to be the judge of the living and the dead.
43 അവനിൽ വിശ്വസിക്കുന്ന ഏവന്നും അവന്റെ നാമം മൂലം പാപമോചനം ലഭിക്കും എന്നു സകല പ്രവാചകന്മാരും സാക്ഷ്യം പറയുന്നു.
To him all the prophets bear witness, that every one who believes on him, shall receive forgiveness of sins by his name.
44 ഈ വാക്കുകളെ പത്രൊസ് പ്രസ്താവിക്കുമ്പോൾ തന്നേ വചനം കേട്ട എല്ലാവരുടെ മേലും പരിശുദ്ധാത്മാവു വന്നു.
While Peter was yet speaking these words, the Holy Spirit fell upon all who were hearing the word:
45 അവർ അന്യഭാഷകളിൽ സംസാരിക്കുന്നതും ദൈവത്തെ മഹത്വീകരിക്കുന്നതും കേൾക്കയാൽ
and they of the circumcision, who believed, as many as came with Peter, were astonished that the gift of the Spirit was poured out upon the Gentiles also:
46 പത്രൊസിനോടുകൂടെ വന്ന പരിച്ഛേദനക്കാരായ വിശ്വാസികൾ പരിശുദ്ധാത്മാവു എന്ന ദാനം ജാതികളുടെ മേലും പകൎന്നതു കണ്ടു വിസ്മയിച്ചു.
for they heard them speaking in diverse languages, and glorifying God.
47 നമ്മെപ്പോലെ പരിശുദ്ധാത്മാവു ലഭിച്ച ഇവരെ സ്നാനം കഴിപ്പിച്ചു കൂടാതവണ്ണം വെള്ളം വിലക്കുവാൻ ആൎക്കു കഴിയും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
Then Peter answered, Can any one forbid water, that these persons should not be immersed, who have received the Holy Spirit as well as we?
48 പത്രൊസ് അവരെ യേശുക്രിസ്തുവിന്റെ നാമത്തിൽ സ്നാനം കഴിപ്പിപ്പാൻ കല്പിച്ചു. അവൻ ചില ദിവസം അവിടെ താമസിക്കേണം എന്നു അവർ അപേക്ഷിച്ചു.
And he ordered them to be immersed in the name of the Lord. And they entreated him to continue with them several days.
