2 ദിനവൃത്താന്തം 20
1 അതിന്റെശേഷം മോവാബ്യരും അമ്മോന്യരും അവരോടുകൂടെ മെയൂന്യരിൽ ചിലരും യെഹോശാഫാത്തിന്റെ നേരെ യുദ്ധത്തിന്നു വന്നു.
It happened after this, that the people of Moab, and the people of Ammon, and with them some of the Meunites, came against Jehoshaphat to battle.
2 ചിലർ വന്നു യെഹോശാഫാത്തിനോടു: വലിയോരു ജനസമൂഹം കടലിന്നക്കരെ നിന്നു, അരാമിൽനിന്നു നിന്റെ നേരെ വരുന്നു; ഇതാ അവർ ഏൻ-ഗെദിയെന്ന ഹസസോൻ-താമാരിൽ ഉണ്ടു എന്നു അറിയിച്ചു.
Then some came who told Jehoshaphat, saying, "A great multitude is coming against you from beyond the sea from Edom. Look, they are in Hazazon Tamar" (that is, En Gedi).
3 യെഹോശാഫാത്ത് ഭയപ്പെട്ടു യഹോവയെ അന്വേഷിപ്പാൻ താല്പൎയ്യപ്പെട്ടു യെഹൂദയിൽ ഒക്കെയും ഒരു ഉപവാസം പ്രസിദ്ധംചെയ്തു.
Jehoshaphat was alarmed, and set himself to seek to the LORD. He proclaimed a fast throughout all Judah.
4 യഹോവയോടു സഹായം ചോദിപ്പാൻ യെഹൂദ്യർ ഒന്നിച്ചുകൂടി; സകലയെഹൂദാനഗരങ്ങളിലുംനിന്നു അവർ യഹോവയെ അന്വേഷിപ്പാൻ വന്നു.
Judah gathered themselves together, to seek help from the LORD. They came out of all the cities of Judah to seek the LORD.
5 യെഹോശാഫാത്ത് യഹോവയുടെ ആലയത്തിൽ പുതിയ പ്രാകാരത്തിന്റെ മുമ്പിൽ യെഹൂദയുടെയും യെരൂശലേമിന്റെയും സഭാമദ്ധ്യേ നിന്നുകൊണ്ടു പറഞ്ഞതെന്തെന്നാൽ:
Jehoshaphat stood in the assembly of Judah and Jerusalem, in the house of the LORD, before the new court;
6 ഞങ്ങളുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാരുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവേ, നീ സ്വൎഗ്ഗസ്ഥനായ ദൈവമല്ലോ; നീ ജാതികളുടെ സകലരാജ്യങ്ങളെയും ഭരിക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ; ആൎക്കും എതിൎപ്പാൻ കഴിയാത്ത ശക്തിയും പരാക്രമവും നിനക്കുണ്ടല്ലോ.
and he said, "O LORD, the God of our fathers, aren't you God in heaven? Aren't you ruler over all the kingdoms of the nations? Power and might are in your hand, so that no one is able to withstand you.
7 ഞങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമേ, നീ നിന്റെ ജനമായ യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ മുമ്പിൽനിന്നു ഈ ദേശത്തിലെ നിവാസികളെ നീക്കിക്കളഞ്ഞു അതു നിന്റെ സ്നേഹിതനായ അബ്രാഹാമിന്റെ സന്തതിക്കു ശാശ്വതമായി കൊടുത്തുവല്ലോ.
Did you not, our God, drive out the inhabitants of this land before your people Israel, and give it forever to the descendants of Abraham your friend?
8 അവർ അതിൽ പാൎത്തു; ന്യായവിധിയുടെ വാൾ, മഹാമാരി, ക്ഷാമം എന്നിങ്ങിനെയുള്ള വല്ല അനൎത്ഥവും ഞങ്ങൾക്കു വരുമ്പോൾ, ഞങ്ങൾ ഈ ആലയത്തിന്റെ മുമ്പിലും നിന്റെ സന്നിധിയിലും നിന്നു -നിന്റെ നാമം ഈ ആലയത്തിൽ ഉണ്ടല്ലോ- ഞങ്ങളുടെ സങ്കടത്തിൽ നിന്നോടു നിലവിളിക്കയും നീ കേട്ടു രക്ഷവരുത്തുകയും ചെയ്യും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
They lived in it, and have built you a sanctuary in it for your name, saying,
9 അതിൽ തിരുനാമത്തിന്നു വേണ്ടി നിനക്കു ഒരു വിശുദ്ധമന്ദിരം പണിതു.
'If evil comes on us—the sword, judgment, pestilence, or famine—we will stand before this house, and before you, (for your name is in this house), and cry to you in our affliction, and you will hear and save.'
10 യിസ്രായേൽ മിസ്രയീംദേശത്തുനിന്നു വരുമ്പോൾ അവർ അമ്മോന്യരേയും മോവാബ്യരേയും സേയീർപൎവ്വതക്കാരെയും ആക്രമിപ്പാൻ നീ അനുവാദം കൊടുത്തില്ലല്ലോ; അവർ അവരെ നശിപ്പിക്കാതെ വിട്ടുമാറി.
Now, look, the people of Ammon and Moab and Mount Seir, whom you would not let Israel invade, when they came out of the land of Egypt, but they turned aside from them, and did not destroy them;
11 ഇപ്പോൾ ഇതാ, നീ ഞങ്ങൾക്കു കൈവശമാക്കിത്തന്ന നിന്റെ അവകാശത്തിൽനിന്നു ഞങ്ങളെ നീക്കിക്കളവാൻ അവർ വന്നു ഞങ്ങൾക്കു ഇങ്ങനെ പ്രതിഫലം തരുന്നു.
look, how they reward us, to come to cast us out of your possession, which you have given us to inherit.
12 ഞങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമേ, നീ അവരെ ന്യായം വിധിക്കയില്ലയോ? ഞങ്ങളുടെ നേരെ വരുന്ന ഈ വലിയ സമൂഹത്തോടെതിൎപ്പാൻ ഞങ്ങൾക്കു ശക്തിയില്ല; എന്തു ചെയ്യേണ്ടു എന്നു അറിയുന്നതുമില്ല; എങ്കിലും ഞങ്ങളുടെ കണ്ണുകൾ നിങ്കലേക്കു തിരിഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു.
Our God, will you not judge them? For we have no might against this great company that comes against us; neither know we what to do, but our eyes are on you."
13 അങ്ങനെ യെഹൂദ്യർ ഒക്കെയും അവരുടെ കുഞ്ഞുങ്ങളോടും ഭാൎയ്യമാരോടും മക്കളോടും കൂടെ യഹോവയുടെ സന്നിധിയിൽ നിന്നു.
All Judah stood before the LORD, with their little ones, their wives, and their children.
14 അപ്പോൾ സഭാമദ്ധ്യേവെച്ചു യഹോവയുടെ ആത്മാവു ആസാഫിന്റെ പുത്രന്മാരിൽ മത്ഥന്യാവിന്റെ മകനായ യെയീയേലിന്റെ മകനായ ബെനായാവിന്റെ മകനായ സെഖൎയ്യാവിന്റെ മകൻ യഹസീയേൽ എന്ന ഒരു ലേവ്യന്റെമേൽ വന്നു.
Then the Ruach of the LORD came on Jahaziel the son of Zechariah, the son of Benaiah, the son of Jeiel, the son of Mattaniah, the Levite, of the sons of Asaph, in the midst of the assembly;
15 അവൻ പറഞ്ഞതു എന്തെന്നാൽ: യെഹൂദ്യർ ഒക്കെയും യെരൂശലേംനിവാസികളും യെഹോശാഫാത്ത് രാജാവും ആയുള്ളോരേ, കേട്ടുകൊൾവിൻ; യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം നിങ്ങളോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു: ഈ വലിയ സമൂഹംനിമിത്തം ഭയപ്പെടരുതു, ഭ്രമിക്കയും അരുതു; യുദ്ധം നിങ്ങളുടേതല്ല, ദൈവത്തിന്റെതത്രേ.
and he said, "Listen, all Judah, and you inhabitants of Jerusalem, and you king Jehoshaphat. Thus says the LORD to you, 'Do not be afraid, neither be dismayed by reason of this great multitude; for the battle is not yours, but God's.
16 നാളെ അവരുടെ നേരെ ചെല്ലുവിൻ; ഇതാ, അവർ സീസ് കയറ്റത്തിൽകൂടി കയറിവരുന്നു; നിങ്ങൾ അവരെ യെരൂവേൽമരുഭൂമിക്കെതിരെ തോട്ടിന്റെ അറ്റത്തുവെച്ചു കാണും.
Tomorrow go down against them. Look, they are coming up by the ascent of Ziz. You shall find them at the end of the valley, before the wilderness of Jeruel.
17 ഈ പടയിൽ പൊരുതുവാൻ നിങ്ങൾക്കു ആവശ്യം ഇല്ല; യെഹൂദയും യെരൂശലേമും ആയുള്ളോരേ, നിങ്ങൾ സ്ഥിരമായി നിന്നു യഹോവ നിങ്ങൾക്കു വരുത്തുന്ന രക്ഷ കണ്ടുകൊൾവിൻ; ഭയപ്പെടരുതു, ഭ്രമിക്കയും അരുതു; നാളെ അവരുടെ നേരെ ചെല്ലുവിൻ; യഹോവ നിങ്ങളോടുകൂടെ ഉണ്ടു.
You will not need to fight this battle. Set yourselves, stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD with you, O Judah and Jerusalem. Do not be afraid, nor be dismayed. Go out against them tomorrow, for the LORD is with you.'"
18 അപ്പോൾ യെഹോശാഫാത്ത് സാഷ്ടാംഗം വണങ്ങി; യെഹൂദ്യർ ഒക്കെയും യെരൂശലേം നിവാസികളും യഹോവയുടെ മുമ്പാകെ വീണു നമസ്കരിച്ചു.
Jehoshaphat bowed his head with his face to the ground; and all Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem fell down before the LORD, worshipping the LORD.
19 കെഹാത്യരും കോരഹ്യരുമായ ലേവ്യർ യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയെ അത്യുച്ചത്തിൽ സ്തുതിപ്പാൻ എഴുന്നേറ്റു.
The Levites, of the descendants of the Kohathites and of the descendants of the Korahites, stood up to praise the LORD, the God of Israel, with an exceeding loud voice.
20 പിന്നെ അവർ അതികാലത്തു എഴുന്നേറ്റു തെക്കോവമരുഭൂമിയിലേക്കു പുറപ്പെട്ടു; അവർ പുറപ്പെട്ടപ്പോൾ യഹോശാഫാത്ത് നിന്നുകൊണ്ടു: യെഹൂദ്യരും യെരൂശലേംനിവാസികളും ആയുള്ളോരേ, എന്റെ വാക്കു കേൾപിൻ; നിങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയിൽ വിശ്വസിപ്പിൻ; എന്നാൽ നിങ്ങൾ ഉറെച്ചുനില്ക്കും; അവന്റെ പ്രവാചകന്മാരേയും വിശ്വസിപ്പിൻ; എന്നാൽ നിങ്ങൾ കൃതാൎത്ഥരാകും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
They rose early in the morning, and went forth into the wilderness of Tekoa: and as they went forth, Jehoshaphat stood and said, "Listen to me, Judah, and you inhabitants of Jerusalem. Believe in the LORD your God, so you will be established. Believe his prophets, and you will prosper."
21 പിന്നെ അവൻ ജനത്തോടു ആലോചിച്ചിട്ടു, വിശുദ്ധാലങ്കാരം ധരിച്ചു സൈന്യത്തിന്നു മുമ്പിൽ നടന്നുകൊണ്ടു വാഴ്ത്തുവാനും: യഹോവയെ സ്തുതിപ്പിൻ, അവന്റെ ദയ എന്നേക്കും ഉള്ളതല്ലോ എന്നു ചൊല്ലുവാനും യഹോവെക്കു സംഗീതക്കാരെ നിയമിച്ചു.
When he had taken counsel with the people, he appointed those who should sing to the LORD, and give praise in holy array, as they went out before the army, and say, Give thanks to the LORD; for his loving kindness endures forever.
22 അവർ പാടി സ്തുതിച്ചുതുടങ്ങിയപ്പോൾ: യഹോവ യെഹൂദെക്കു വിരോധമായി വന്ന അമ്മോന്യരുടെയും മോവാബ്യരുടെയും സേയീർപൎവ്വതക്കാരുടെയും നേരെ പതിയിരിപ്പുകാരെ വരുത്തി; അങ്ങനെ അവർ തോറ്റുപോയി.
When they began to sing and to praise, the LORD set ambushers against the people of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir, who had come against Judah; and they were struck.
23 അമ്മോന്യരും മോവാബ്യരും സേയീർപൎവ്വതനിവാസികളോടു എതിൎത്തു അവരെ നിൎമ്മൂലമാക്കി നശിപ്പിച്ചു; സേയീർനിവാസികളെ സംഹരിച്ചശേഷം അവർ അന്യോന്യം നശിപ്പിച്ചു.
For the people of Ammon and Moab stood up against the inhabitants of Mount Seir, utterly to kill and destroy them: and when they had made an end of the inhabitants of Seir, everyone helped to destroy another.
24 യെഹൂദ്യർ മരുഭൂമിയിലെ കാവൽഗോപുരത്തിന്നരികെ എത്തിയപ്പോൾ അവർ പുരുഷാരത്തെ നോക്കി, അവർ നിലത്തു ശവങ്ങളായി കിടക്കുന്നതു കണ്ടു; ഒരുത്തനും ചാടിപ്പോയിരുന്നില്ല.
When Judah came to the place overlooking the wilderness, they looked at the multitude; and look, they were dead bodies fallen to the earth, and there were none who escaped.
25 യെഹോശാഫാത്തും അവന്റെ പടജ്ജനവും അവരെ കൊള്ളയിടുവാൻ വന്നപ്പോൾ അവരുടെ ഇടയിൽ അനവധി സമ്പത്തും വസ്ത്രവും വിശേഷവസ്തുക്കളും കണ്ടെത്തി; തങ്ങൾക്കു ചുമപ്പാൻ കഴിയുന്നതിലധികം ഊരി എടുത്തു; കൊള്ള അധികമുണ്ടായിരുന്നതുകൊണ്ടു അവർ മൂന്നു ദിവസം കൊള്ളയിട്ടുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.
When Jehoshaphat and his people came to take their spoil, they found among them in abundance both riches and dead bodies, and precious jewels, which they stripped off for themselves, more than they could carry away: and they were three days in taking the spoil, it was so much.
26 നാലാം ദിവസം അവർ ബെരാഖാതാഴ്വരയിൽ ഒന്നിച്ചുകൂടി; അവർ അവിടെ യഹോവെക്കു സ്തോത്രം ചെയ്തതുകൊണ്ടു ആ സ്ഥലത്തിന്നു ഇന്നുവരെ ബെരാഖാതാഴ്വര എന്നു പേർ പറഞ്ഞുവരുന്നു.
On the fourth day they assembled themselves in the Valley of Berachah; for there they blessed the LORD: therefore the name of that place was called The Valley of Berachah to this day.
27 യഹോവ അവൎക്കു ശത്രുക്കളുടെമേൽ ജയസന്തോഷം നില്കിയതുകൊണ്ടു യെഹൂദ്യരും യെരൂശലേമ്യരും എല്ലാം മുമ്പിൽ യെഹോശാഫാത്തുമായി സന്തോഷത്തോടെ യെരൂശലേമിലേക്കു മടങ്ങിപ്പോന്നു;
Then they returned, every man of Judah and Jerusalem, and Jehoshaphat in their forefront, to go again to Jerusalem with joy; for the LORD had made them to rejoice over their enemies.
28 അവർ വീണകളോടും കിന്നരങ്ങളോടും കാഹളങ്ങളോടുംകൂടെ യെരൂശലേമിൽ യഹോവയുടെ ആലയത്തിലേക്കു ചെന്നു.
They came to Jerusalem with stringed instruments and harps and trumpets to the house of the LORD.
29 യഹോവ യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ ശത്രുക്കളോടു യുദ്ധം ചെയ്തു എന്നു കേട്ടപ്പോൾ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ ഭീതി ആ ദേശങ്ങളിലെ സകലരാജ്യങ്ങളിന്മേലും വന്നു.
The fear of God was on all the kingdoms of the countries, when they heard that the LORD fought against the enemies of Israel.
30 ഇങ്ങനെ അവന്റെ ദൈവം ചുറ്റും വിശ്രമം നല്കിയതുകൊണ്ടു യെഹോശാഫാത്തിന്റെ രാജ്യം സ്വസ്ഥമായിരുന്നു.
So the realm of Jehoshaphat was quiet; for his God gave him rest all around.
31 യെഹോശാഫാത്ത് യെഹൂദയിൽ വാണു; വാണുതുടങ്ങിയപ്പോൾ അവന്നു മുപ്പത്തഞ്ചുവയസ്സായിരുന്നു; അവൻ ഇരുപത്തഞ്ചു സംവത്സരം യെരൂശലേമിൽ വാണു; അവന്റെ അമ്മെക്കു അസൂബാ എന്നു പേർ; അവൾ ശിൽഹിയുടെ മകൾ ആയിരുന്നു.
Jehoshaphat reigned over Judah: he was thirty-five years old when he began to reign; and he reigned twenty-five years in Jerusalem: and his mother's name was Azubah the daughter of Shilhi.
32 അവൻ തന്റെ അപ്പനായ ആസയുടെ വഴിയിൽ നടന്നു അതു വിട്ടുമാറാതെ യഹോവെക്കു പ്രസാദമായുള്ളതു ചെയ്തു.
He walked in the way of Asa his father, and did not turn aside from it, doing that which was right in the eyes of the LORD.
33 എങ്കിലും പൂജാഗിരികൾക്കു നീക്കം വന്നില്ല; ജനം തങ്ങളുടെ ഹൃദയങ്ങളെ തങ്ങളുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാരുടെ ദൈവത്തിങ്കലേക്കു തിരിച്ചതുമില്ല.
However the high places were not taken away; neither as yet had the people set their hearts to the God of their fathers.
34 യെഹോശാഫാത്തിന്റെ മറ്റുള്ള വൃത്താന്തങ്ങൾ ആദ്യാവസാനം യിസ്രായേൽരാജാക്കന്മാരുടെ പുസ്തകത്തിൽ ചേൎത്തിരിക്കുന്ന ഹനാനിയുടെ മകനായ യെഹൂവിന്റെ വൃത്താന്തത്തിൽ എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ.
Now the rest of the acts of Jehoshaphat, first and last, look, they are written in the history of Jehu the son of Hanani, which is inserted in the book of the kings of Israel.
35 അതിന്റെശേഷം യെഹൂദാരാജാവായ യെഹോശാഫാത്ത് യിസ്രായേൽരാജാവായ അഹസ്യാവോടു സഖ്യത ചെയ്തു. അവൻ മഹാദുഷ്പ്രവൃത്തിക്കാരനായിരുന്നു.
After this Jehoshaphat king of Judah joined himself with Ahaziah king of Israel. The same did very wickedly:
36 അവൻ തൎശീശിലേക്കു ഓടിപ്പാൻ കപ്പലുണ്ടാക്കുന്നതിൽ അവനോടു യോജിച്ചു; അവർ എസ്യോൻ-ഗേബെരിൽവെച്ചു കപ്പലുകളുണ്ടാക്കി.
and he joined himself with him to make ships to go to Tarshish; and they made the ships in Ezion Geber.
37 എന്നാൽ മാരേശക്കാരനായ ദോദാവയുടെ മകൻ എലീയേസെർ യെഹോശാഫാത്തിന്നു വിരോധമായി പ്രവചിച്ചു: നീ അഹസ്യാവോടു സഖ്യത ചെയ്തതുകൊണ്ടു യഹോവ നിന്റെ പണികളെ ഉടെച്ചുകളഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. കപ്പലുകൾ തൎശീശിലേക്കു ഓടുവാൻ കഴിയാതെ ഉടഞ്ഞുപോയി.
Then Eliezer the son of Dodavahu of Mareshah prophesied against Jehoshaphat, saying, "Because you have joined yourself with Ahaziah, the LORD has destroyed your works." The ships were broken, so that they were not able to go to Tarshish.
