1 രാജാക്കന്മാർ 22
1 അരാമും യിസ്രായേലും മൂന്നു സംവത്സരം തമ്മിൽ യുദ്ധം കൂടാതെ പാൎത്തു.
And they remained [at rest] three years, there being no war between Syria and Israel.
2 മൂന്നാം ആണ്ടിലോ യെഹൂദാരാജാവായ യെഹോശാഫാത്ത് യിസ്രായേൽരാജാവിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ ചെന്നു.
And it came to pass in the third year that Jehoshaphat the king of Judah came down to the king of Israel.
3 യിസ്രായേൽരാജാവു തന്റെ ഭൃത്യന്മാരോടു: ഗിലെയാദിലെ രാമോത്ത് നമുക്കുള്ളതെന്നു നിങ്ങൾ അറിയുന്നുവോ? നാം അതിനെ അരാംരാജാവിന്റെ കയ്യിൽ നിന്നു പിടിക്കാതെ അടങ്ങിയിരിക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
And the king of Israel said unto his servants, Know ye that Ramoth in Gil'ad is ours, and we remain idle, without taking it out of the hand of the king of Syria?
4 അവൻ യെഹോശാഫാത്തിനോടു: നീ എന്നോടുകൂടെ ഗിലെയാദിലെ രാമോത്തിൽ യുദ്ധത്തിന്നു പോരുമോ? എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു. അതിന്നു യെഹോശാഫാത്ത് യിസ്രായേൽരാജാവിനോടു: ഞാനും നീയും എന്റെ ജനവും നിന്റെ ജനവും എന്റെ കുതിരകളും നിന്റെ കുതിരകളും ഒരുപോലെയല്ലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
And he said unto Jehoshaphat, Wilt thou go with me to the battle against Ramoth-gil'ad? And Jehoshaphat said to the king of Israel, I [will be] like thee, my people like thy people, my horses like thy horses.
5 എന്നാൽ യെഹോശാഫാത്ത് യിസ്രായേൽരാജാവിനോടു: ഇന്നു യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടു ചോദിച്ചാലും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
And Jehoshaphat said unto the king of Israel, Inquire, I pray thee, today [first] of the word of the Lord.
6 അങ്ങനെ യിസ്രായേൽരാജാവു ഏകദേശം നാനൂറു പ്രവാചകന്മാരെ കൂട്ടിവരുത്തി അവരോടു: ഞാൻ ഗിലെയാദിലെ രാമോത്തിലേക്കു യുദ്ധത്തിന്നു പോകയോ പോകാതിരിക്കയോ എന്തു വേണ്ടു എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു. അതിന്നു അവർ പുറപ്പെടുക; കൎത്താവു അതു രാജാവിന്റെ കയ്യിൽ ഏല്പിക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
Then assembled the king of Israel the prophets, about four hundred men, and said unto them, shall I go against Ramoth-gil'ad to battle, or shall I forbear? And they said, Go up; and the Lord will deliver [it] into the hand of the king.
7 എന്നാൽ യെഹോശാഫാത്ത്: നാം അരുളപ്പാടു ചോദിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു യഹോവയുടെ പ്രവാചകനായിട്ടു ഇവിടെ ഇനി ആരും ഇല്ലയോ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.
And Jehoshaphat said, Is there not here a prophet of the Eternal besides, that we might inquire of him?
8 അതിന്നു യിസ്രായേൽരാജാവു യെഹോശാഫാത്തിനോടു: നാം യഹോവയോടു അരുളപ്പാടു ചോദിപ്പാൻ തക്കവണ്ണം ഇനി യിമ്ലയുടെ മകനായ മീഖായാവു എന്നൊരുത്തൻ ഉണ്ടു. എന്നാൽ അവൻ എന്നെക്കുറിച്ചു ഗുണമല്ല ദോഷം തന്നേ പ്രവചിക്കുന്നതുകൊണ്ടു എനിക്കു അവനോടു ഇഷ്ടമില്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. രാജാവു അങ്ങനെ പറയരുതേ എന്നു യെഹോശാഫാത്ത് പറഞ്ഞു.
And the king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat, There is yet one man, by whom we might inquire of the Lord; but I hate him; for he will never prophesy good concerning me, but evil: [it is] Michayhu the son of Yimlah. And Jehoshaphat said, Let not the king say so.
9 അങ്ങനെ യിസ്രായേൽരാജാവു ഒരു ഷണ്ഡനെ വിളിച്ചു, യിമ്ളയുടെ മകനായ മീഖായാവെ വേഗത്തിൽ കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടുവരുവാൻ കല്പിച്ചു.
Then called the king of Israel a certain officer, and said, Hasten hither Michayhu the son of Yimlah.
10 യിസ്രായേൽ രാജാവും യെഹൂദാരാജാവായ യെഹോശാഫാത്തും രാജവസ്ത്രം ധരിച്ചു ശമൎയ്യയുടെ പടിവാതിൽ പ്രവേശനത്തിങ്കൽ ഒരു വിശാലസ്ഥലത്തു സിംഹാസനത്തിൽ ഇരുന്നു; പ്രവാചകന്മാർ ഒക്കെയും അവരുടെ സന്നിധിയിൽ പ്രവചിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.
And the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat the king of Judah were sitting each on his throne, dressed in their regal garments, in a threshing-floor at the entrance of the gate of Samaria; and all the prophets prophesied before them.
11 കെനയനയുടെ മകനായ സിദെക്കീയാവു തനിക്കു ഇരിമ്പുകൊണ്ടു കൊമ്പു ഉണ്ടാക്കി: ഇവകൊണ്ടു നീ അരാമ്യരെ അവർ ഒടുങ്ങുംവരെ കുത്തിക്കളയും എന്നിപ്രകാരം യഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
And Zedekiah the son of Kena'anah had made himself horns of iron; and he said, Thus hath said the Lord, With these shalt thou push the Syrians, until thou have made an end of them.
12 പ്രവാചകന്മാരൊക്കെയും അങ്ങനെ തന്നെ പ്രവചിച്ചു: ഗിലെയാദിലെ രാമോത്തിലേക്കു പുറപ്പെടുക; നീ കൃതാൎത്ഥനാകും; യഹോവ അതു രാജാവിന്റെ കയ്യിൽ ഏല്പിക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
And all the prophets prophesied so, saying, Go up to Ramoth-gil'ad, and prosper; and the Lord will deliver it into the king's hand.
13 മീഖായാവെ വിളിപ്പാൻ പോയ ദൂതൻ അവനോടു: നോക്കു, പ്രവാചകന്മാരുടെ വാക്കുകൾ ഒരുപോലെ രാജാവിന്നു ഗുണമായിരിക്കുന്നു; നിന്റെ വാക്കും അവരിൽ ഒരുത്തന്റേതുപോലെ ഇരിക്കേണം; നീയും ഗുണമായി പറയേണമേ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
And the messenger that went to call Michayhu spoke unto him, saying, Behold now, the words of the prophets are with one voice good for the king: do let thy word, I pray thee, be like the word of any one of them, and speak something good.
14 അതിന്നു മീഖായാവു: യഹോവയാണ, യഹോവ എന്നോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നതു തന്നേ ഞാൻ പ്രസ്താവിക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
And Michayhu said, As the Lord liveth, truly, what the Lord may say unto me, that will I speak.
15 അവൻ രാജാവിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ വന്നപ്പോൾ രാജാവു അവനോടു: മീഖായാവേ, ഞങ്ങൾ ഗിലെയാദിലെ രാമോത്തിലേക്കു യുദ്ധത്തിന്നു പോകയോ പോകാതിരിക്കയോ എന്തു വേണ്ടു എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു. അതിന്നു അവൻ: പുറപ്പെടുവിൻ; നിങ്ങൾ കൃതാൎത്ഥരാകും; യഹോവ അതു രാജാവിന്റെ കയ്യിൽ ഏല്പിക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
And when he was come to the king, the king said unto him, Michayhu, shall we go against Ramoth-gil'ad to battle, or shall we forbear? And he answered him, Go up, and prosper; and may the Lord deliver it into the hand of the king.
16 രാജാവു അവനോടു: നീ യഹോവയുടെ നാമത്തിൽ സത്യമല്ലാതെ യാതൊന്നും എന്നോടു പറയരുതെന്നു എത്ര പ്രാവശ്യം ഞാൻ നിന്നോടു സത്യം ചെയ്തു പറയേണം എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.
And the king said unto him, How many times yet must I adjure thee that thou shalt not speak to me anything but the truth in the name of the Lord?
17 അതിന്നു അവൻ: ഇടയനില്ലാത്ത ആടുകളെപ്പോലെ യിസ്രായേൽ ഒക്കെയും പൎവ്വതങ്ങളിൽ ചിതറിയിരിക്കുന്നതു ഞാൻ കണ്ടു; അപ്പോൾ യഹോവ: ഇവൎക്കു നാഥനില്ല; അവർ ഓരോരുത്തൻ താന്താന്റെ വീട്ടിലേക്കു സമാധാനത്തോടെ മടങ്ങിപ്പോകട്ടെ എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
And he said, I saw all Israel scattered over the mountains, as flocks that have not a shepherd: and the Lord said, These have no master; let them return every man to his house in peace.
18 അപ്പോൾ യിസ്രായേൽരാജാവു യെഹോശാഫാത്തിനോടു: ഇവൻ എന്നെക്കുറിച്ചു ദോഷമല്ലാതെ ഗുണം പ്രവചിക്കയില്ലെന്നു ഞാൻ നിന്നോടു പറഞ്ഞില്ലയോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
And the king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat, Did I not say unto thee that he would not prophesy concerning me any good, but [only] evil?
19 അതിന്നു അവൻ പറഞ്ഞതു: എന്നാൽ നീ യഹോവയുടെ വചനം കേൾക്ക: യഹോവ തന്റെ സിംഹാസനത്തിൽ ഇരിക്കുന്നതും സ്വൎഗ്ഗത്തിലെ സൈന്യം ഒക്കെയും അവന്റെ അടുക്കൽ വലത്തും ഇടത്തും നില്ക്കുന്നതും ഞാൻ കണ്ടു.
And he said, Therefore hear thou the word of the Lord, I saw the Lord sitting on his throne, and all the host of heaven standing by him on his right and on his left.
20 ആഹാബ് ചെന്നു ഗിലെയാദിലെ രാമോത്തിൽവെച്ചു പട്ടുപോകത്തക്കവണ്ണം അവനെ ആർ വശീകരിക്കും എന്നു യഹോവ ചോദിച്ചതിന്നു ഒരുത്തൻ ഇങ്ങനെയും ഒരുത്തൻ അങ്ങനെയും പറഞ്ഞു.
And the Lord said, Who will persuade Achab, that he may go up and fall at Ramoth-gil'ad! And one said, In this manner, and another said, In that manner.
21 എന്നാറെ ഒരു ആത്മാവു മുമ്പോട്ടു വന്നു യഹോവയുടെ സന്നിധിയിൽ നിന്നു: ഞാൻ അവനെ വശീകരിക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
And there came forth a spirit, and placed himself before the Lord, and said, I will persuade him. And the Lord said unto him, Wherewith?
22 ഏതിനാൽ എന്നു യഹോവ ചോദിച്ചതിന്നു അവൻ: ഞാൻ പുറപ്പെട്ടു അവന്റെ സകല പ്രവാചകന്മാരുടെയും വായിൽ ഭോഷ്കിന്റെ ആത്മാവായിരിക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. നീ അവനെ വശീകരിക്കും, നിനക്കു സാധിക്കും; നീ ചെന്നു അങ്ങനെ ചെയ്ക എന്നു അവൻ കല്പിച്ചു.
And he said, I will go forth, and I will be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets. And he said, Thou wilt persuade him, and also prevail: go forth, and do so.
23 ആകയാൽ ഇതാ, യഹോവ ഭോഷ്കിന്റെ ആത്മാവിനെ നിന്റെ ഈ സകലപ്രവാചകന്മാരുടെയും വായിൽ കൊടുത്തിരിക്കുന്നു; യഹോവ നിന്നെക്കുറിച്ചു അനൎത്ഥം കല്പിച്ചുമിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
And now, behold, the Lord hath put a lying spirit in the mouth of all these thy prophets; but the Lord hath spoken evil concerning thee.
24 അപ്പോൾ കെനയനയുടെ മകനായ സിദെക്കീയാവു അടുത്തുചെന്നു മീഖായാവിന്റെ ചെകിട്ടത്തു അടിച്ചു: നിന്നോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്‌വാൻ യഹോവയുടെ ആത്മാവു എന്നെ വിട്ടു ഏതു വഴിയായി കടന്നുവന്നു എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.
And Zedekiah, the son of Kena'anah, went near, and struck Michayhu on the cheek, and said, Which way passed the Spirit of the Lord away from me to speak with thee!
25 അതിന്നു മീഖായാവു: നീ ഒളിപ്പാനായിട്ടു അറ തേടിനടക്കുന്ന ദിവസത്തിൽ നീ കാണും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
And Michayhu said, Behold, thou shalt see it on that day, when thou shalt go into the innermost chamber to hide thyself.
26 അപ്പോൾ യിസ്രായേൽരാജാവു പറഞ്ഞതു: മീഖായാവെ പിടിച്ചു നഗരാധിപതിയായ ആമോന്റെയും രാജകുമാരനായ യോവാശിന്റെയും അടുക്കൽ കൊണ്ടുചെന്നു ഇവനെ കാരാഗൃഹത്തിൽ ആക്കി,
And the king of Israel said, Take Michayhu, and carry him back unto Amon the governor of the city, and unto Joash the king's son;
27 ഞാൻ സമാധാനത്തോടെ വരുവോളം ഞെരുക്കത്തിന്റെ അപ്പവും ഞെരുക്കത്തിന്റെ വെള്ളവും കൊടുത്തു പോഷിപ്പിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു രാജാവു കല്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു അവരോടു പറക.
And say, Thus hath said the king, Put this man in the prison, and feed him with sparing bread and with sparing water, until I come home in peace.
28 അതിന്നു മീഖായാവു: നീ സമാധാനത്തോടെ മടങ്ങിവരുന്നുണ്ടെങ്കിൽ യഹോവ എന്നെക്കൊണ്ടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തിട്ടില്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. സകലജാതികളുമായുള്ളോരേ, കേട്ടുകൊൾവിൻ എന്നും അവൻ പറഞ്ഞു.
And Michayhu said, If thou return at all in peace, then hath the Lord not spoken through me. And he said, Hear it, O all ye nations!
29 അങ്ങനെ യിസ്രായേൽരാജാവും യെഹൂദാരാജാവായ യെഹോശാഫാത്തും ഗിലെയാദിലെ രാമോത്തിലേക്കു പോയി.
So the king of Israel went up with Jehoshaphat the king of Judah to Ramoth-gil'ad.
30 യിസ്രായേൽരാജാവു യെഹോശാഫാത്തിനോടു: ഞാൻ വേഷംമാറി പടയിൽ കടക്കും; നീയോ രാജവസ്ത്രം ധരിച്ചുകൊൾക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അങ്ങനെ യിസ്രായേൽരാജാവു വേഷംമാറി പടയിൽ കടന്നു.
And the king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat, I will disguise myself, and enter into the battle; but do thou put on thy regal garments. And the king of Israel disguised himself, and went into the battle.
31 എന്നാൽ അരാംരാജാവു തന്റെ മുപ്പത്തിരണ്ടു രഥനായകന്മാരോടു: നിങ്ങൾ യിസ്രായേൽരാജാവിനോടു മാത്രമല്ലാതെ ചെറിയവരോടോ വലിയവരോടോ യുദ്ധം ചെയ്യരുതു എന്നു കല്പിച്ചിരുന്നു.
And the king of Syria had commanded the captains over his chariots, thirty-two [in number], saying, Fight neither with a small nor a great one, save only with the king of Israel alone.
32 ആകയാൽ രഥനായകന്മാർ യെഹോശാഥാത്തിനെ കണ്ടപ്പോൾ: ഇവൻ തന്നേ യിസ്രായേൽരാജാവു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു അവനോടു പൊരുതുവാൻ തിരിഞ്ഞു. എന്നാൽ യെഹോശാഫാത്ത് നിലവിളിച്ചു.
And it came to pass, when the captains of the chariots saw Jehoshaphat, that they said, Surely this is the king of Israel. And they turned aside against him to fight: and Jehoshaphat cried out.
33 അവൻ യിസ്രായേൽരാജവല്ല എന്നു രഥനായകന്മാർ കണ്ടിട്ടു അവനെ വിട്ടുമാറി പോന്നു.
And it came to pass, when the captains of the chariots perceived that it was not the king of Israel, that they turned back from following him.
34 എന്നാൽ ഒരുത്തൻ യദൃച്ഛയാ വില്ലു കുലെച്ചു യിസ്രായേൽരാജാവിനെ കവചത്തിന്നും പതക്കത്തിന്നും ഇടെക്കു എയ്തു; അവൻ തന്റെ സാരഥിയോടു: നിന്റെ കൈ തിരിച്ചു എന്നെ പടയിൽനിന്നു കൊണ്ടുപോക; ഞാൻ കഠിനമായി മുറിവേറ്റിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
But a man drew his bow at a venture, and struck the king of Israel between the joints and the armor; wherefore he said unto his chariot-driver. Turn about, and carry me out of the camp; for I am wounded.
35 അന്നു പട കഠിനമായി തീൎന്നതുകൊണ്ടു രാജാവു അരാമ്യൎക്കു എതിരെ രഥത്തിൽ നിവിൎന്നുനിന്നു; സന്ധ്യാസമയത്തു അവൻ മരിച്ചുപോയി. മുറിവിൽനിന്നു രക്തം രഥത്തിന്നകത്തു ഒഴുകിയിരുന്നു.
And the battle increased on that day; and the king was stayed up in his chariot against the Syrians; but he died in the evening: and the blood of the wound flowed down into the hollow of the chariot.
36 സൂൎയ്യൻ അസ്തമിക്കുമ്പോൾ ഓരോരുത്തൻ താന്താന്റെ പട്ടണത്തിലേക്കും താന്താന്റെ ദേശത്തേക്കും പോകട്ടെ എന്നു പാളയത്തിൽ ഒരു പരസ്യം പുറപ്പെട്ടു.
And there went a proclamation throughout the camp at the going down of the sun, saying, Every man to his city, and every man to his own land.
37 അങ്ങനെ രാജാവു മരിച്ചു; അവനെ ശമൎയ്യയിലേക്കു കൊണ്ടുവന്നു; അവർ രാജാവിനെ ശമൎയ്യയിൽ അടക്കം ചെയ്തു.
So the king died, and was brought to Samaria; and they buried the king in Samaria.
38 രഥം ശമൎയ്യയിലെ കുളത്തിൽ കഴുകിയപ്പോൾ യഹോവ കല്പിച്ചിരുന്ന വചനപ്രകാരം നായ്ക്കൾ അവന്റെ രക്തം നക്കി; വേശ്യാസ്ത്രീകളും അവിടെ കുളിച്ചു.
And the chariot was washed out at the pool of Samaria; and the dogs licked up his blood, as they washed his armor: according to the word of the Lord which he had spoken.
39 ആഹാബിന്റെ മറ്റുള്ള വൃത്താന്തങ്ങളും അവൻ ചെയ്തതൊക്കെയും അവൻ ആനക്കൊമ്പുകൊണ്ടു പണിത അരമനയുടെയും അവൻ പണിത എല്ലാ പട്ടണങ്ങളുടെയും വിവരവും യിസ്രായേൽരാജാക്കന്മാരുടെ വൃത്താന്തപുസ്തകത്തിൽ എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ.
Now the rest of the acts of Achab, and all that he did, and the ivory house which he built, and all the cities that he built, behold, they are written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel.
40 ആഹാബ് തന്റെ പിതാക്കന്മാരെപ്പോലെ നിദ്രപ്രാപിച്ചു; അവന്റെ മകനായ അഹസ്യാവു അവന്നു പകരം രാജാവായി.
So Achab slept with his fathers: and Achazyahu his son became king in his stead.
41 ആസയുടെ മകനായ യഹോശാഫാത്ത് യിസ്രായേൽരാജാവായ ആഹാബിന്റെ നാലാം ആണ്ടിൽ യെഹൂദയിൽ രാജാവായി.
And Jehoshaphat the son of Assa became king over Judah in the fourth year of Achab the king of Israel.
42 യെഹോശാഫാത്ത് വാഴ്ച തുടങ്ങിയപ്പോൾ അവന്നു മുപ്പത്തഞ്ചു വയസ്സായിരുന്നു; അവൻ ഇരുപത്തഞ്ചു സംവത്സരം യെരൂശലേമിൽ വാണു; അവന്റെ അമ്മെക്കു അസൂബാ എന്നു പേർ; അവൾ ശിൽഹിയുടെ മകൾ ആയിരുന്നു.
Jehoshaphat was thirty and five years old when he became king, and twenty and five years did he reign in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was 'Azubah the daughter of Shilchi.
43 അവൻ തന്റെ അപ്പനായ ആസയുടെ എല്ലാവഴിയിലും നടന്നു; അതു വിട്ടുമാറാതെ യഹോവെക്കു പ്രസാദമായതു ചെയ്തു. പൂജാഗിരികൾക്കുമാത്രം നീക്കം വന്നില്ല; ജനം പൂജാഗിരികളിൽ യാഗം കഴിക്കയും ധൂപം കാട്ടുകയും ചെയ്തുപോന്നു.
And he walked in all the ways of Assa his father; he turned not aside from it, doing what is right in the eyes of the Lord: Nevertheless the high-places were not removed; for the people still offered, and burnt incense on the high-places.
44 യെഹോശാഫാത്ത് യിസ്രായേൽരാജാവിനോടു സഖ്യത ചെയ്തു.
And Jehoshaphat made peace with the king of Israel.
45 യെഹോശാഫാത്തിന്റെ മറ്റുള്ള വൃത്താന്തങ്ങളും അവന്റെ പരാക്രമപ്രവൃത്തികളും അവൻ ചെയ്ത യുദ്ധവും യെഹൂദാരാജാക്കന്മാരുടെ വൃത്താന്തപുസ്തകത്തിൽ എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ.
Now the rest of the acts of Jehoshaphat, and his mighty deeds that he showed, and how he warred, behold, they are written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah.
46 തന്റെ അപ്പനായ ആസയുടെ കാലത്തു ശേഷിച്ചിരുന്ന പുരുഷമൈഥുനക്കാരെ അവൻ ദേശത്തുനിന്നു നീക്കിക്കളഞ്ഞു.
And the remnant of the sodomites, that had been left in the days of his father Assa, did he put away out of the land.
47 ആ കാലത്തു എദോമിൽ രാജാവില്ലായ്കകൊണ്ടു ഒരു ദേശാധിപതി രാജസ്ഥാനം വഹിച്ചു.
There was then no king in Edom: a deputy was king.
48 ഓഫീരിൽ പൊന്നിന്നു പോകേണ്ടതിന്നു യെഹോശാഫാത്ത് തൎശീശ് കപ്പലുകളെ ഉണ്ടാക്കി; എന്നാൽ കപ്പലുകൾ എസ്യോൻ-ഗേബരൽവെച്ചു ഉടഞ്ഞുപോയതുകൊണ്ടു അവെക്കു പോകുവാൻ കഴിഞ്ഞില്ല.
Jehoshaphat made Tharshish-ships to go to Ophir for gold; but they went not; for the ships were wrecked at 'Ezyon-geber.
49 അന്നേരം ആഹാബിന്റെ മകനായ അഹസ്യാവു യെഹോശാഫാത്തിനോടു: എന്റെ ദാസന്മാർ നിന്റെ ദാസന്മാരോടുകൂടെ കപ്പലുകളിൽ പോരട്ടെ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. എന്നാൽ യെഹോശാഫാത്തിന്നു മനസ്സില്ലായിരുന്നു.
Then said Achazyahu the son of Achab unto Jehoshaphat, Let my servants go with thy servants in the ships. But Jehoshaphat would not.
50 യെഹോശാഫാത്ത് തന്റെ പിതാക്കന്മാരെപ്പോലെ നിദ്രപ്രാപിച്ചു; അവന്റെ പിതാവായ ദാവീദിന്റെ നഗരത്തിൽ അവന്റെ പിതാക്കന്മാരോടുകൂടെ അവനെ അടക്കം ചെയ്തു; അവന്റെ മകനായ യെഹോരാം അവന്നു പകരം രാജാവായി.
And Jehoshaphat slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David his father: and Jehoram his son became king in his stead.
51 ആഹാബിന്റെ മകനായ അഹസ്യാവു യെഹൂദാരാജാവായ യെഹോശാഫാത്തിന്റെ പതിനേഴാം ആണ്ടിൽ ശമൎയ്യയിൽ യിസ്രായേലിന്നു രാജാവായി; യിസ്രായേലിൽ രണ്ടു സംവത്സരം വാണു.
Achazyahu the son of Achab became king over Israel in Samaria in the seventeenth year of Jehoshaphat, the king of Judah; and he reigned over Israel two years.
52 അവൻ തന്റെ അപ്പന്റെ വഴിയിലും അമ്മയുടെ വഴിയിലും യിസ്രായേലിനെക്കൊണ്ടു പാപം ചെയ്യിച്ച നെബാത്തിന്റെ മകനായ യൊരോബെയാമിന്റെ വഴിയിലും നടന്നു യഹോവെക്കു അനിഷ്ടമായുള്ളതു ചെയ്തു.
And he did what is evil in the eyes of the Lord, and walked in the way of his father, and in the way of his mother, and in the way of Jerobo'am the son of Nebat, who had induced Israel to sin.
53 അവൻ ബാലിനെ സേവിച്ചു നമസ്കരിച്ചു; തന്റെ അപ്പൻ ചെയ്തതുപോലെ ഒക്കെയും യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയെ കോപിപ്പിച്ചു.
And he served Ba'al, and bowed down to him, and he provoked to anger the Lord the God of Israel, all just as his father had done.
