റോമർ 14

1 തർക്കവിഷയങ്ങളെക്കുറിച്ചു ശണ്ഠയിടാതെ വിശ്വാസത്തിൽ ബലഹീനരായവരെ അംഗീകരിക്കുക.

Accept him whose faith is weak, without passing judgment on his opinions.

2 എല്ലാം ഭക്ഷിക്കാമെന്ന് ഒരാൾ വിശ്വസിക്കുന്നു, എന്നാൽ ബലഹീനരായിരിക്കുന്ന വ്യക്തിയോ സസ്യാഹാരംമാത്രം ഭക്ഷിക്കുന്നു.

For one person has faith to eat all things, while another, who is weak, eats only vegetables.

3 എല്ലാം ഭക്ഷിക്കാം എന്നു കരുതുന്നയാൾ ഭക്ഷിക്കാത്തയാളെ പുച്ഛിക്കരുത്; ഭക്ഷിക്കാത്തയാൾ ഭക്ഷിക്കുന്നയാളെ കുറ്റപ്പെടുത്താനും പാടില്ല. കാരണം, അയാളും ദൈവത്തിനു സ്വീകാര്യനാണ്.

The one who eats everything must not belittle the one who does not, and the one who does not eat everything must not judge the one who does, for God has accepted him.

4 മറ്റൊരാളുടെ ദാസനെ വിമർശിക്കാൻ എന്ത് അധികാരമാണ് നിനക്കുള്ളത്? അയാൾ നിന്നാലും വീണാലും അവന്റെ സ്വന്തം യജമാനനുതന്നെ. അയാളെ ഉറപ്പിച്ചുനിർത്താൻ ശക്തനായ കർത്താവ് അയാളെ ഉറപ്പിച്ചുനിർത്തുകതന്നെ ചെയ്യും.

Who are you to judge someone else’s servant? To his own master he stands or falls. And he will stand, for the Lord is able to make him stand.

5 ഒരാൾ ഒരു ദിവസത്തെ മറ്റൊരു ദിവസത്തെക്കാൾ ശ്രേഷ്ഠമായി കരുതുന്നു; മറ്റൊരാളാകട്ടെ, എല്ലാ ദിവസത്തെയും ഒരുപോലെ ശ്രേഷ്ഠമായി പരിഗണിക്കുന്നു. ഓരോരുത്തരും ചെയ്യുന്നത് അവരവരുടെ ഉത്തമബോധ്യമനുസരിച്ച് ആയിരിക്കണം.

One person regards a certain day above the others, while someone else considers every day alike. Each one should be fully convinced in his own mind.

6 ഒരു ദിവസത്തെ മറ്റു ദിവസങ്ങളെക്കാൾ മാനിക്കുന്നയാൾ കർത്താവിനുവേണ്ടി അതു ചെയ്യുന്നു; മാംസാഹാരിയും ഭക്ഷിക്കുന്നത് കർത്താവിനുവേണ്ടി. കാരണം, ദൈവത്തിനു നന്ദി അർപ്പിച്ചിട്ടാണല്ലോ അവർ ഭക്ഷിക്കുന്നത്. അതുപോലെ, മാംസം ഭക്ഷിക്കാത്തവരും കർത്താവിനുവേണ്ടി ഭക്ഷിക്കാതിരിക്കുന്നു. അവരും ദൈവത്തിനു സ്തോത്രംചെയ്യുന്നു.

He who observes a special day does so to the Lord; he who eats does so to the Lord, for he gives thanks to God; and he who abstains does so to the Lord and gives thanks to God.

7 നമ്മിൽ ആരും നമുക്കായി ജീവിക്കുന്നില്ല; നമുക്കായിത്തന്നെ മരിക്കുന്നതുമില്ല.

For none of us lives to himself alone, and none of us dies to himself alone.

8 നാം ജീവിക്കുന്നു എങ്കിൽ കർത്താവിനായി ജീവിക്കുന്നു; മരിക്കുന്നെങ്കിലോ കർത്താവിനായി മരിക്കുന്നു. അതുകൊണ്ട്, ജീവിച്ചാലും മരിച്ചാലും നാം കർത്താവിനുള്ളവരാണ്.

If we live, we live to the Lord, and if we die, we die to the Lord. So whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord.

9 ഇങ്ങനെ, മരിച്ചവരുടെയും ജീവിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നവരുടെയും കർത്താവായിരിക്കുന്നതിനുവേണ്ടിയാണ് ക്രിസ്തു മരിക്കുകയും ഉയിർക്കുകയുംചെയ്തത്.

For this reason Christ died and returned to life, that He might be the Lord of both the dead and the living.

10 പിന്നെന്തിനാണ് നീ സഹവിശ്വാസിയെ ന്യായം വിധിക്കുന്നത്? സഹവിശ്വാസിയെ നിന്ദിക്കുന്നതും എന്തിന്? നാം എല്ലാവരും ദൈവത്തിന്റെ ന്യായാസനത്തിനു മുമ്പാകെ നിൽക്കേണ്ടവരാണെന്ന് ഓർക്കുക.

Why, then, do you judge your brother? Or why do you belittle your brother? For we will all stand before God’s judgment seat.

11 “കർത്താവ് ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു, ‘ജീവനുള്ള ഞാൻ ശപഥംചെയ്യുന്നു, എന്റെമുമ്പിൽ എല്ലാ മുഴങ്കാലും വണങ്ങും; എല്ലാ നാവും ദൈവത്തെ സ്തുതിച്ച് ഏറ്റുപറയും’” എന്നു തിരുവെഴുത്തിൽ എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നല്ലോ.

It is written: “As surely as I live, says the Lord, every knee will bow before Me; every tongue will confess to God.”

12 അതേ, നാം വ്യക്തിപരമായി ദൈവത്തോട് കണക്കു ബോധിപ്പിക്കേണ്ടവരാണ്.

So then, each of us will give an account of himself to God.

13 അതുകൊണ്ട് നാം ഇനിമേൽ പരസ്പരം ന്യായംവിധിക്കാതിരിക്കാം. പകരം, സഹോദരങ്ങൾക്ക് വിശ്വാസത്തിൽ ഇടർച്ചയ്ക്കു കാരണമാകുന്ന തടസ്സമോ അവർ പാപത്തിൽ വീഴുന്നതിനു കാരണമായിത്തീരുന്ന കെണിയോ വെക്കുകയില്ല എന്നു തീരുമാനിക്കാം.

Therefore let us stop judging one another. Instead, make up your mind not to put any stumbling block or obstacle in your brother’s way.

14 കർത്താവായ യേശുവിൽ എനിക്കു ലഭിച്ച അധികാരത്താൽ ഒരു കാര്യം ഞാൻ അറിഞ്ഞും അതേക്കുറിച്ചു ദൃഢനിശ്ചയമുള്ളവനായുമിരിക്കുന്നു: ഒരു ഭക്ഷണവും സ്വതവേ അശുദ്ധമല്ല; എന്നാൽ, ഏതെങ്കിലും ഒരു ഭക്ഷണപദാർഥം അശുദ്ധമാണെന്ന് ഒരാൾ വിചാരിക്കുന്നു എങ്കിൽ അത് അയാൾക്ക് അശുദ്ധംതന്നെയാണ്.

I am convinced and fully persuaded in the Lord Jesus that nothing is unclean in itself. But if anyone regards something as unclean, then for him it is unclean.

15 നിന്റെ ഭക്ഷണംമൂലം സഹോദരങ്ങൾക്കു വ്യസനം ഉണ്ടാക്കുന്നു എങ്കിൽ നിങ്ങൾ സ്നേഹത്തിൽ ജീവിക്കുന്നില്ല. ക്രിസ്തു ആർക്കുവേണ്ടി മരിച്ചുവോ ആ ആൾക്കു നിന്റെ ഭക്ഷണം നാശകരമാകരുത്.

If your brother is distressed by what you eat, you are no longer acting in love. Do not by your eating destroy your brother, for whom Christ died.

16 ഇങ്ങനെചയ്താൽ നീ നന്മയെന്നു പരിഗണിക്കുന്നവ മറ്റുള്ളവരുടെ ദൃഷ്ടിയിൽ തിന്മയായിത്തീരുകയില്ല.

Do not allow what you consider good, then, to be spoken of as evil.

17 ദൈവരാജ്യം അനുഭവിക്കാൻ കഴിയുന്നത് ഭക്ഷണപാനീയങ്ങളിലൂടെയല്ല; മറിച്ച്, നീതിയിലൂടെയും സമാധാനത്തിലൂടെയും പരിശുദ്ധാത്മാവു നൽകുന്ന ആനന്ദത്തിലൂടെയുമാണ്.

For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit.

18 മേൽപ്പറഞ്ഞപ്രകാരം ക്രിസ്തുവിനെ സേവിക്കുന്നയാൾ ദൈവപ്രസാദവും മനുഷ്യസ്വീകാര്യതയും ഉള്ളയാൾ ആയിരിക്കും.

For whoever serves Christ in this way is pleasing to God and approved by men.

19 അതുകൊണ്ട് സമാധാനത്തിനും പരസ്പര ആത്മികാഭിവൃദ്ധിക്കും ഉതകുന്ന കാര്യങ്ങൾക്കായി നമുക്ക് പ്രയത്നിക്കാം.

So then, let us pursue what leads to peace and to mutual edification.

20 ഭക്ഷണം ദൈവത്തിന്റെ പ്രവൃത്തിയെ ശിഥിലമാക്കാൻ കാരണമാകരുത്. എല്ലാം ശുദ്ധമാണ്, എന്നാൽ ഒരു വസ്തു ഭക്ഷിക്കുന്നതിലൂടെ സഹവിശ്വാസി പാപത്തിലേക്കു നയിക്കപ്പെടുന്നു എങ്കിൽ ആ ഭക്ഷണം അശുദ്ധമാണ്.

Do not destroy the work of God for the sake of food. All food is clean, but it is wrong for a man to let his eating be a stumbling block.

21 മാംസം തിന്നാതെയും വീഞ്ഞു കുടിക്കാതെയും നിന്റെ സഹവിശ്വാസിയെ പാപത്തിലേക്കു നയിക്കുന്നതൊന്നും ചെയ്യാതെയും ഇരിക്കുന്നതാണ് നല്ലത്.

It is better not to eat meat or drink wine or to do anything to cause your brother to stumble.

22 ഈ വിഷയത്തെക്കുറിച്ചുള്ള നിന്റെ വിശ്വാസം നീയും ദൈവവുമായുള്ള ഒരു കാര്യമായി ചിന്തിക്കുക. ഒരാൾ ശരിയെന്ന് അംഗീകരിച്ചു പ്രവർത്തിക്കുന്നത് അയാൾക്കു കുറ്റബോധം ഉണ്ടാക്കുന്നില്ല എങ്കിൽ ആ വ്യക്തി അനുഗ്രഹിക്കപ്പെട്ടവൻ.

Keep your belief about such matters between yourself and God. Blessed is the one who does not condemn himself by what he approves.

23 എന്നാൽ, സന്ദേഹത്തോടെ ഭക്ഷിക്കുന്നയാൾ അത് ഉത്തമവിശ്വാസത്തോടുകൂടിയല്ല ചെയ്യുന്നത് എന്നതുകൊണ്ട് കുറ്റക്കാരനാണ്. ശരിയാണെന്ന ഉത്തമവിശ്വാസത്തിൽനിന്ന് ഉത്ഭവിക്കാത്തതെല്ലാം പാപമാണ്.

But the one who has doubts is condemned if he eats, because his eating is not from faith; and everything that is not from faith is sin.
