റോമർ 13

1 ഓരോ വ്യക്തിയും ഭരണാധികാരികൾക്കു വിധേയരാകുക. കാരണം, ദൈവത്താൽ നിയോഗിക്കപ്പെടാത്ത അധികാരി ഒരാൾപോലുമില്ല. ഇപ്പോഴുള്ള ഭരണാധികാരികളും ദൈവത്താൽ നിയമിക്കപ്പെട്ടവരാണ്.

Euery soule be suget to heiyere powers. For ther is no power but of God, and tho thingis that ben of God, ben ordeyned.

2 അതുകൊണ്ട്, അധികാരത്തെ എതിർക്കുന്നവൻ ദൈവം ഏർപ്പെടുത്തിയ സംവിധാനത്തെയാണ് എതിർക്കുന്നത്. അങ്ങനെചെയ്യുന്നവർ സ്വയം ശിക്ഷായോഗ്യരായിത്തീരും.

Therfor he that ayenstondith power, ayenstondith the ordynaunce of God; and thei that ayenstonden, geten to hem silf dampnacioun.

3 ഭരണാധികാരികളെ ഭയപ്പെടേണ്ടത് നന്മ പ്രവർത്തിക്കുന്നവരല്ല; മറിച്ച്, തിന്മ പ്രവർത്തിക്കുന്നവരാണ്. അധികാരികളെ ഭയപ്പെടാതെ ജീവിക്കാൻ നിനക്ക് ആഗ്രഹമുണ്ടോ? എങ്കിൽ നന്മ ചെയ്യുക. അപ്പോൾ അധികാരികളിൽനിന്ന് നിനക്ക് അഭിനന്ദനം ലഭിക്കും.

For princes ben not to the drede of good work, but of yuel. But wilt thou, that thou drede not power? Do thou good thing, and thou schalt haue preisyng of it;

4 നിന്റെ നന്മ ലക്ഷ്യമാക്കി പ്രവർത്തിക്കുന്ന ദൈവസേവകനാണ് അദ്ദേഹം. എന്നാൽ, നീ തിന്മ പ്രവർത്തിക്കുന്നു എങ്കിൽ ഭയപ്പെടുകതന്നെ വേണം. ശിക്ഷിക്കാൻ അയാൾക്ക് അധികാരം നൽകപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കുന്നത് വെറുതേയല്ലല്ലോ! തിന്മ പ്രവർത്തിക്കുന്നവർക്കെതിരേ ജ്വലിക്കുന്ന ദൈവക്രോധം ശിക്ഷയിലൂടെ നടപ്പാക്കാൻ ദൈവം നിയോഗിച്ച ഭൃത്യനാണയാൾ.

for he is the mynystre of God to thee in to good. But if thou doist yuel, drede thou; for not with outen cause he berith the swerd, for he is the mynystre of God, vengere in to wraththe to hym that doith yuel.

5 ശിക്ഷ ലഭിക്കുമെന്ന ഭയംകൊണ്ടുമാത്രമല്ല, ശുദ്ധമനസ്സാക്ഷി ഉണ്ടായിരിക്കേണ്ടതിനുംകൂടിയാണ് അധികാരികളോട് വിധേയത്വം പുലർത്തേണ്ടത്.

And therfor bi nede be ye suget, not oneli for wraththe, but also for conscience.

6 ഇതുകൊണ്ടുതന്നെയാണ് നിങ്ങൾ നികുതി കൊടുക്കുന്നതും. അധികാരികൾ ഭരണകാര്യങ്ങളിൽ എപ്പോഴും ശ്രദ്ധിക്കുന്ന ദൈവസേവകരാണ്.

For therfor ye yyuen tributis, thei ben the mynystris of God, and seruen for this same thing.

7 ഓരോരുത്തർക്കും നിങ്ങൾ കടപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കുന്നതു കൊടുക്കുക: കരം കൊടുക്കേണ്ടവർക്ക് കരം, നികുതി കൊടുക്കേണ്ടവർക്ക് നികുതി; ഭയപ്പെടേണ്ടവരെ ഭയപ്പെടുക, ആദരിക്കേണ്ടവരെ ആദരിക്കുകയും ചെയ്യുക.

Therfor yelde ye to alle men dettis, to whom tribut, tribut, to whom tol, tol, to whom drede, drede, to whom onour, onour.

8 പരസ്പരം സ്നേഹിക്കുക എന്ന ബാധ്യതയല്ലാതെ നിങ്ങൾക്ക് ആരോടും യാതൊരു ബാധ്യതയും ഉണ്ടായിരിക്കരുത്. കാരണം, മറ്റുള്ളവരെ സ്നേഹിക്കുന്നത് ന്യായപ്രമാണത്തിന്റെ നിവൃത്തിയാണ്.

To no man owe ye ony thing, but that ye loue togidere. For he that loueth his neiybore, hath fulfillid the lawe.

9 “നീ നിന്നെ സ്നേഹിക്കുന്നതുപോലെതന്നെ നിന്റെ അയൽവാസിയെയും സ്നേഹിക്കുക” എന്ന കൽപ്പനയിൽ, “വ്യഭിചാരം ചെയ്യരുത്, കൊലപാതകം ചെയ്യരുത്, മോഷ്ടിക്കരുത്, മോഹിക്കരുത്” എന്നിവയും അതുപോലുള്ള മറ്റു കൽപ്പനകളും സംക്ഷിപ്തമായിരിക്കുന്നു.

For, Thou schalt do no letcherie, Thou schalt not sle, Thou schalt not stele, Thou schalt not seie fals witnessyng, Thou schalt not coueyte the thing of thi neiybore, and if ther be ony othere maundement, it is instorid in this word, Thou schalt loue thi neiybore as thi silf.

10 സ്നേഹം അയൽവാസിക്കു ദോഷം ഒന്നും പ്രവർത്തിക്കുന്നില്ല. അങ്ങനെ, സ്നേഹത്തിലൂടെ ന്യായപ്രമാണം നിവർത്തിക്കപ്പെടുന്നു.

The loue of neiybore worchith not yuel; therfor loue is the fulfillyng of the lawe.

11 ഈ കാലഘട്ടത്തിന്റെ സവിശേഷത തിരിച്ചറിഞ്ഞുവേണം നാം ഇതു ചെയ്യേണ്ടത്: നാം ആദ്യമായി കർത്താവിൽ വിശ്വാസമർപ്പിച്ച സമയത്തെക്കാൾ നമ്മുടെ രക്ഷ ഇപ്പോൾ ഏറ്റവും അടുത്തിരിക്കുന്നതുകൊണ്ട് ആലസ്യംവിട്ടുണരേണ്ട സമയമാണിത്.

And we knowen this tyme, that the our is now, that we rise fro sleep; for now oure heelthe is neer, than whanne we bileueden.

12 രാത്രി കഴിയാറായി; രക്ഷയുടെ പകൽ അടുത്തെത്തിയിരിക്കുന്നു. അതുകൊണ്ട്, നാം അന്ധകാരത്തിന്റെ പ്രവൃത്തികൾ ഉപേക്ഷിക്കുകയും പ്രകാശത്തിന്റെ ആയുധങ്ങൾ ധരിക്കുകയുംചെയ്യുക.

The nyyt wente bifore, but the dai hath neiyed. Therfor caste we awei the werkis of derknessis, and be we clothid in the armeris of liyt.

13 പകൽസമയത്തെന്നപോലെ നമ്മുടെ ജീവിതരീതി മാന്യമായിരിക്കട്ടെ. കാമോന്മാദത്തിലും മദ്യോന്മത്തതയിലുമല്ല, ഭോഗാസക്തിയിലും കുത്തഴിഞ്ഞ ജീവിതത്തിലുമല്ല, ലഹളയിലും അസൂയയിലുമല്ല,

As in dai wandre we onestli, not in superflu feestis and drunkenessis, not in beddis and vnchastitees, not in strijf and in enuye;

14 മറിച്ച്, കർത്താവായ യേശുക്രിസ്തുവിനെ ധരിച്ചവരായി നിങ്ങൾ ജീവിക്കുക. ശാരീരികാഭിലാഷങ്ങളിൽ ചിന്താമഗ്നരാകരുത്.

but be ye clothid in the Lord Jhesu Crist, and do ye not the bisynesse of fleisch in desiris.
