സങ്കീർത്തനങ്ങൾ 8

1 സംഗീതസംവിധായകന്. ഗഥ്യരാഗത്തിൽ. ദാവീദിന്റെ ഒരു സങ്കീർത്തനം. ഞങ്ങളുടെ കർത്താവായ യഹോവേ, അവിടത്തെ നാമം സർവഭൂമിയിലും എത്രമഹനീയം! അങ്ങയുടെ മഹത്ത്വം അവിടന്ന് ആകാശത്തിൽ സ്ഥാപിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

To the chief Musician. Upon the Gittith. A Psalm of David. Jehovah our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth! who hast set thy majesty above the heavens.

2 ശിശുക്കളുടെയും മുലകുടിക്കുന്നവരുടെയും സ്തുതികളിൽ അവിടത്തെ ശത്രുക്കൾക്കെതിരേ ഒരു കോട്ട പണിതിരിക്കുന്നു വൈരികളെയും പ്രതികാരദാഹികളെയും നിശ്ശബ്ദരാക്കുന്നതിനുതന്നെ.

Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings hast thou established praise because of thine adversaries, to still the enemy and the avenger.

3 അവിടത്തെ വിരലുകളുടെ പണിയായ ആകാശം, അങ്ങു സ്ഥാപിച്ച ചന്ദ്രൻ, നക്ഷത്രങ്ങൾ എന്നിവയെ നോക്കുമ്പോൾ,

When I see thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and stars, which thou hast established;

4 അവിടത്തെ പരിഗണനയിൽ വരാൻമാത്രം മാനവവംശം എന്തുള്ളൂ, അങ്ങയുടെ കരുതൽ ലഭിക്കാൻ മനുഷ്യപുത്രൻ എന്തുമാത്രം?

What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?

5 അങ്ങ് അവരെ ദൂതന്മാരെക്കാൾ അൽപ്പംമാത്രം താഴ്ത്തി; തേജസ്സും ബഹുമാനവും അവരെ മകുടമായി അണിയിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

Thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and splendour.

6 അവിടത്തെ കൈവേലകളുടെമേൽ അങ്ങേക്ക് ആധിപത്യം നൽകി; സകലതും അവിടത്തെ കാൽക്കീഴാക്കിയിരിക്കുന്നു—

Thou hast made him to rule over the works of thy hands; thou hast put everything under his feet:

7 ആടുകൾ, കന്നുകാലികൾ, കാട്ടിലെ സകലമൃഗങ്ങൾ,

Sheep and oxen, all of them, and also the beasts of the field;

8 ആകാശത്തിലെ പറവകൾ, സമുദ്രത്തിലെ മത്സ്യങ്ങൾ, സമുദ്രമാർഗേ ചരിക്കുന്ന എല്ലാറ്റിനെയുംതന്നെ.

The fowl of the heavens, and the fishes of the sea, [whatever] passeth through the paths of the seas.

9 ഞങ്ങളുടെ കർത്താവായ യഹോവേ, അവിടത്തെ നാമം സർവഭൂമിയിലും എത്രമഹനീയം!

Jehovah our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth!
