സങ്കീർത്തനങ്ങൾ 124

1 ദാവീദിന്റെ ആരോഹണഗീതം. യഹോവ നമ്മുടെ പക്ഷത്ത് ഇല്ലായിരുന്നെങ്കിൽ— ഇസ്രായേല്യർ പറയട്ടെ—

“A song of the degrees by David.” If it had not been the Lord who was for us, so should Israel say;

2 മനുഷ്യർ നമ്മെ ആക്രമിച്ചപ്പോൾ, യഹോവ നമ്മുടെ പക്ഷത്ത് ഇല്ലായിരുന്നെങ്കിൽ,

If it had not been the Lord who was for us, when men rose up against us:

3 അവരുടെ ക്രോധം നമുക്കെതിരേ കത്തിജ്വലിച്ചപ്പോൾ അവർ നമ്മെ ജീവനോടെ വിഴുങ്ങിക്കളയുമായിരുന്നു;

Then would they have swallowed us up alive, when their wrath was kindled against us;

4 പ്രളയം നമ്മെ ഒഴുക്കിക്കളയുമായിരുന്നു, വെള്ളപ്പാച്ചിൽ നമ്മെ തൂത്തെറിയുമായിരുന്നു,

Then would the waters have overwhelmed us, the stream would have passed over our soul;

5 ആർത്തിരമ്പുന്ന ജലപ്രവാഹം നമ്മെ തുടച്ചുനീക്കുമായിരുന്നു.

Then would have passed over our soul the presumptuous waters.

6 അവരുടെ പല്ലിനിരയായി പറിച്ചുകീറപ്പെടാൻ നമ്മെ അനുവദിക്കാതിരുന്ന, യഹോവ വാഴ്ത്തപ്പെട്ടവൻ.

Blessed be the Lord, who hath not given us up as a prey to their teeth.

7 വേട്ടക്കാരന്റെ കെണിയിൽനിന്ന് ഒരു പക്ഷിപോലെ നാം വഴുതിപ്പോന്നിരിക്കുന്നു; ആ കെണി പൊട്ടിപ്പോയി, നാം രക്ഷപ്പെടുകയും ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു.

Our soul is escaped like a bird out of the snare of the fowlers: the snare is broken, and we are escaped.

8 ആകാശവും ഭൂമിയും സൃഷ്ടിച്ച യഹോവയുടെ നാമത്തിലാണ് നമ്മുടെ സഹായം.

Our help is in the name of the Lord, the maker of heaven and earth.
