1 ആരോഹണഗീതം. എന്റെ കഷ്ടതയിൽ ഞാൻ യഹോവയോടു നിലവിളിക്കുന്നു, അവിടന്ന് എനിക്ക് ഉത്തരമരുളുന്നു.

A song of degrees. I called vnto the Lord in my trouble, and hee heard me.

2 യഹോവേ, വ്യാജംപറയുന്ന അധരങ്ങളിൽനിന്നും വഞ്ചനയുരുവിടുന്ന നാവിൽനിന്നും എന്നെ രക്ഷിക്കണമേ.

Deliuer my soule, O Lord, from lying lippes, and from a deceitfull tongue.

3 വ്യാജമുള്ള നാവേ, ദൈവം നിന്നോട് എന്താണു ചെയ്യാൻപോകുന്നത്? ഇതിലധികം എന്തുവേണം?

What doeth thy deceitfull tongue bring vnto thee? or what doeth it auaile thee?

4 യോദ്ധാവിന്റെ മൂർച്ചയേറിയ അസ്ത്രത്താലും കട്ടിയേറിയ മരത്തിന്റെ കത്തുന്ന കനലിനാലും അവിടന്നു നിന്നെ ശിക്ഷിക്കും.

It is as the sharpe arrowes of a mightie man, and as the coales of iuniper.

5 ഞാൻ മേശെക്കിൽ അലഞ്ഞുതിരിയുന്നതിനാലും കേദാർ കൂടാരങ്ങൾക്കിടയിൽ അധിവസിക്കുന്നതിനാലും എനിക്ക് അയ്യോ കഷ്ടം!

Woe is to me that I remaine in Meschech, and dwell in the tentes of Kedar.

6 സമാധാനം വെറുക്കുന്നവരോടൊപ്പം ഞാൻ വളരെക്കാലമായി താമസിച്ചുവരുന്നു.

My soule hath too long dwelt with him that hateth peace.

7 ഞാൻ ഒരു സമാധാനകാംക്ഷിയാണ്; ഞാൻ അതേപ്പറ്റി സംസാരിക്കുമ്പോൾ അവർ യുദ്ധത്തിനായൊരുങ്ങുന്നു.

I seeke peace, and when I speake thereof, they are bent to warre.
