സദൃശവാക്യങ്ങൾ 7
1 എന്റെ കുഞ്ഞേ, എന്റെ വചനങ്ങൾ പ്രമാണിക്കുകയും എന്റെ കൽപ്പനകൾ നിന്റെ ഉള്ളിൽ സംഗ്രഹിക്കുകയും ചെയ്യുക.
My son, keep my words, and lay up my commandments with thee.
2 എന്റെ കൽപ്പനകൾ പ്രമാണിക്കുക, എന്നാൽ നീ ജീവിക്കും; എന്റെ ഉപദേശങ്ങൾ നിന്റെ കണ്ണിലെ കൃഷ്ണമണിപോലെ സൂക്ഷിക്കുക.
Keep my commandments, and live; and my law as the apple of thy eye.
3 അവ നിന്റെ വിരലുകളിൽ ചേർത്തുബന്ധിക്കുക; നിന്റെ ഹൃദയഫലകത്തിൽ ആലേഖനംചെയ്യുക.
Bind them upon thy fingers, write them upon the table of thy heart.
4 ജ്ഞാനത്തോട്, “നീ എന്റെ സഹോദരി” എന്നും, വിവേകത്തോട്, “നീ എന്റെ അടുത്ത ബന്ധു” എന്നും പറയുക.
Say to wisdom, Thou [art] my sister; and call understanding [thy] kinswoman:
5 അവ നിന്നെ വ്യഭിചാരിണിയായ സ്ത്രീയിൽനിന്നും ലൈംഗികധാർമികതയില്ലാത്തവളുടെ പ്രലോഭനഭാഷണങ്ങളിൽനിന്നും രക്ഷിക്കും.
That they may keep thee from the strange woman, from the stranger [which] flattereth with her words.
6 എന്റെ വീടിന്റെ ജനാലയ്ക്കരികിൽ അഴികളിലൂടെ ഞാൻ പുറത്തേക്കുനോക്കി.
For at the window of my house I looked through my casement,
7 യുവാക്കളുടെ മധ്യത്തിൽ ഞാൻ ശ്രദ്ധിച്ചു, ഒരു ലളിതമാനസനെ ഞാൻ കണ്ടു, ഒരു ശുദ്ധഗതിക്കാരനായ യുവാവിനെത്തന്നെ.
And beheld among the simple ones, I discerned among the youths, a young man void of understanding,
8 അയാൾ തെരുക്കോണിലുള്ള അവളുടെ വീടിന്റെ അടുത്തേക്ക്; അവളുടെ ഭവനംതന്നെ ലക്ഷ്യമാക്കി നീങ്ങുകയായിരുന്നു,
Passing through the street near her corner; and he went the way to her house.
9 അന്തിമയക്കത്തിൽ പ്രകാശം മങ്ങി, രാവ് ഇരുണ്ടുവരുന്ന നേരത്തുതന്നെ ആയിരുന്നു അത്.
In the twilight, in the evening, in the black and dark night:
10 അപ്പോൾ കുടിലചിത്തയായ ഒരുവൾ വേശ്യാസമാനം വസ്ത്രംധരിച്ച്, അവനെ എതിരേറ്റുവന്നു.
And behold, there met him a woman [with] the attire of a harlot, and subtil of heart.
11 അവൾ ധിക്കാരിയും ധാർഷ്ട്യക്കാരിയുമാണ്, അവൾ ഒരിക്കലും വീട്ടിൽ അടങ്ങിയിരിക്കാത്തവളുമാണ്;
(She [is] loud and stubborn; her feet abide not in her house:
12 അവൾ ഇതാ തെരുവോരങ്ങളിൽ, ഇതാ ചത്വരങ്ങളിൽ എല്ലാ കോണുകളിലും അവൾ പതിയിരിക്കുന്നു.
Now [is she] without, now in the streets, and lieth in wait at every corner.)
13 അവൾ അവനെ കടന്നുപിടിച്ചു ചുംബിച്ചു ലജ്ജാരഹിതയായി അവനോടു പറഞ്ഞു:
So she caught him, and kissed him, [and] with an impudent face said to him,
14 “എനിക്കിന്നു വീട്ടിൽ സമാധാനയാഗത്തിന്റെ മാംസം ശേഷിപ്പുണ്ട്, ഇന്നു ഞാൻ എന്റെ നേർച്ചകൾ നിറവേറ്റിക്കഴിഞ്ഞു.
[I have] peace-offerings with me; this day have I paid my vows.
15 അതിനാൽ നിന്നെ എതിരേൽക്കാൻ ഞാൻ പുറത്തേക്കിറങ്ങി വന്നിരിക്കുന്നു; ഞാൻ നിന്നെ അന്വേഷിച്ചു, ഇതാ നിന്നെ കണ്ടെത്തിയിരിക്കുന്നു!
Therefore I came forth to meet thee, diligently to seek thy face, and I have found thee.
16 ഞാൻ എന്റെ കിടക്ക വിരിച്ചൊരുക്കിയിരിക്കുന്നു ഈജിപ്റ്റിലെ വർണശബളമായ ചണനൂൽകൊണ്ടുതന്നെ.
I have decked my bed with coverings of tapestry, with carved [works], with fine linen of Egypt.
17 മീറ, ചന്ദനം, ലവംഗം എന്നിവകൊണ്ട് എന്റെ കിടക്ക ഞാൻ സുഗന്ധപൂർണമാക്കിയിരിക്കുന്നു.
I have perfumed my bed with myrrh, aloes, and cinnamon.
18 വരൂ, പ്രഭാതംവരെ നമുക്കു ലീലാവിലാസങ്ങളിൽ രമിക്കാം നമുക്കു പ്രേമരാഗങ്ങളിൽ അഭിരമിക്കാം!
Come, let us take our fill of love until the morning: let us solace ourselves with loves.
19 എന്റെ ഭർത്താവ് ഭവനത്തിലില്ല; അയാൾ ദൂരയാത്ര പോയിരിക്കുകയാണ്.
For the good-man [is] not at home, he is gone a long journey:
20 അയാൾ നിറഞ്ഞ പണസഞ്ചിയുമായാണ് പോയിരിക്കുന്നത്; മടക്കം ഇനി പൗർണമിനാളിലേയുള്ളൂ.”
He hath taken a bag of money with him, [and] will come home at the day appointed.
21 മോഹനവാഗ്ദാനങ്ങളുമായി അവൾ അവനെ വഴിപിഴപ്പിച്ചു; മധുരഭാഷണത്താൽ അവൾ അവനെ വശീകരിച്ചു.
With her much fair speech she caused him to yield, with the flattering of her lips she impelled him.
22 ഉടൻതന്നെ അവൻ അവളെ പിൻതുടർന്നു അറവുശാലയിലേക്ക് ആനയിക്കപ്പെടുന്ന കാളയെപ്പോലെ, കുരുക്കിലേക്കു പായുന്ന മാനിനെപ്പോലെ,
He goeth after her quickly, as an ox goeth to the slaughter, or as a fool to the correction of the stocks;
23 അവന്റെ കരളിൽ ശരം തറയ്ക്കുന്നതുവരെ, കെണിയിലേക്കു പക്ഷി പറന്നടുക്കുന്നതുപോലെ, സ്വന്തം ജീവനാണ് അപഹരിക്കപ്പെടുന്നത് എന്ന അറിവ് അവനു ലവലേശവുമില്ല.
Till a dart striketh through his liver; as a bird hasteth to the snare, and knoweth not that it [is] for his life.
24 അതുകൊണ്ട് എന്റെ കുഞ്ഞുങ്ങളേ, എൻമൊഴി കേൾക്കുക; എന്റെ ഭാഷണത്തിന് ശ്രദ്ധ നൽകുക.
Now therefore hearken to me, O ye children, and attend to the words of my mouth.
25 നിന്റെ ഹൃദയം അവളുടെ വഴികളിലേക്കു തിരിയരുത് അവളുടെ മാർഗത്തിലേക്കു വഴിതെറ്റിപ്പോകുകയുമരുത്.
Let not thy heart decline to her ways, go not astray in her paths.
26 അവൾ നശിപ്പിച്ച ഇരകൾ ധാരാളമാണ്; അവൾമൂലം വധിക്കപ്പെട്ട ജനക്കൂട്ടം അസംഖ്യമാണ്.
For she hath cast down many wounded: yes, many strong [men] have been slain by her.
