സദൃശവാക്യങ്ങൾ 6

1 എന്റെ കുഞ്ഞേ, നീ അയൽവാസിക്കുവേണ്ടി ജാമ്യം നിൽക്കുകയോ അന്യരുടെ ബാധ്യതകൾക്കുവേണ്ടി കൈയൊപ്പുചാർത്തുകയോ ചെയ്തിട്ടുണ്ടെങ്കിൽ,

My sonne, if thou be surety for thy neighbour, and hast striken hands with the stranger,

2 നിന്റെ സംസാരത്താൽ നീ കെണിയിലകപ്പെട്ടു, നിന്റെ അധരങ്ങളിലെ വാക്കുകളാൽ നീ പിടിക്കപ്പെട്ടു.

Thou art snared with the wordes of thy mouth: thou art euen taken with the woordes of thine owne mouth.

3 എന്റെ കുഞ്ഞേ, നിന്നെത്തന്നെ സ്വതന്ത്രനാക്കാൻ നീ ഇപ്രകാരം ചെയ്യുക, നീ നിന്റെ അയൽവാസിയുടെ കൈകളിൽ വീണുപോയല്ലോ: നീ ക്ഷീണിതനാകുന്നതുവരെ അപേക്ഷിക്കുക, (ഉത്തരം കിട്ടുംവരെ) നിന്റെ അയൽവാസിക്കു വിശ്രമം നൽകയുമരുത്!

Doe this nowe, my sonne, and deliuer thy selfe: seeing thou art come into the hande of thy neighbour, goe, and humble thy selfe, and sollicite thy friends.

4 നിന്റെ കണ്ണുകൾക്ക് ഉറക്കവും കൺപോളകൾക്കു മയക്കവും കൊടുക്കരുത്.

Giue no sleepe to thine eyes, nor slumber to thine eyelids.

5 കലമാൻ നായാട്ടുകാരന്റെ കൈയിൽനിന്നും പക്ഷികൾ വേട്ടക്കാരന്റെ കുടുക്കിൽനിന്നും രക്ഷപ്പെടുന്നതുപോലെ, നിന്നെത്തന്നെ സ്വതന്ത്രനാക്കുക.

Deliuer thy selfe as a doe from the hande of the hunter, and as a birde from the hande of the fouler.

6 ഹേ മടിയാ, നീ ഉറുമ്പുകളുടെ അടുത്തു പോകുക; അതിന്റെ പ്രവൃത്തികൾ നിരീക്ഷിച്ച് ജ്ഞാനിയാകുക!

Goe to the pismire, O sluggarde: beholde her waies, and be wise.

7 അവയ്ക്ക് അധിപതികളോ മേൽനോട്ടക്കാരോ ഭരണംനടത്തുന്നവരോ ഇല്ല,

For shee hauing no guide, gouernour, nor ruler,

8 എന്നിട്ടും അവ വേനൽക്കാലത്തു ഭക്ഷ്യവസ്തുക്കൾ സംഭരിക്കുന്നു കൊയ്ത്തുകാലത്ത് ഭക്ഷണം സമാഹരിക്കുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നു.

Prepareth her meat in the sommer, and gathereth her foode in haruest.

9 കുഴിമടിയാ, എത്രനാൾ നീ ഇങ്ങനെ മടിപിടിച്ചുകിടക്കും? എപ്പോഴാണ് നീ ഉറക്കം വെടിഞ്ഞുണരുന്നത്?

Howe long wilt thou sleepe, O sluggarde? when wilt thou arise out of thy sleepe?

10 ഒരൽപ്പം ഉറക്കം, ഒരൽപ്പം മയക്കം; ഒരൽപ്പനേരംകൂടി കൈകൾ കെട്ടിപ്പിണച്ചുള്ള വിശ്രമം,

Yet a litle sleepe, a litle slumber, a litle folding of the hands to sleepe.

11 അങ്ങനെ ദാരിദ്ര്യം കൊള്ളക്കാരെപ്പോലെ നിന്റെമേൽ ചാടിവീഴും ദുർഭിക്ഷത ഒരു ആയുധപാണിയെപ്പോലെ നിന്നെ ആക്രമിക്കും.

Therefore thy pouertie commeth as one that trauaileth by the way, and thy necessitie like an armed man.

12 വഷളത്തവും ദുഷ്ടതയും പ്രവർത്തിക്കുന്നവർ, അധരങ്ങളിൽ വക്രതയുമായി ചുറ്റിനടക്കുന്നു,

The vnthriftie man and the wicked man walketh with a froward mouth.

13 അവർ കണ്ണിറുക്കിക്കാട്ടുന്നു, കാലുകൾകൊണ്ട് ആംഗ്യം കാട്ടുകയും വിരലുകൾ ചലിപ്പിക്കുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നു,

He maketh a signe with his eyes: he signifieth with his feete: he instructeth with his fingers.

14 അവർ വഞ്ചനനിറഞ്ഞ ഹൃദയംകൊണ്ട് കുടിലതന്ത്രങ്ങൾ ആവിഷ്കരിക്കുന്നു— അവർ സദാ കലഹം ഇളക്കിവിടുന്നു.

Lewde things are in his heart: he imagineth euill at all times, and raiseth vp contentions.

15 അങ്ങനെ ക്ഷണനേരംകൊണ്ട് അവർ ദുരന്തത്തിന് ഇരയാകുന്നു; പരിഹാരമില്ലാതെ അവർ ക്ഷണത്തിൽ തകർക്കപ്പെടുന്നു.

Therefore shall his destruction come speedily: hee shall be destroyed suddenly without recouerie.

16 യഹോവ വെറുക്കുന്ന ആറു വസ്തുതകളുണ്ട്, ഏഴെണ്ണം അവിടത്തേക്ക് അറപ്പാകുന്നു:

These sixe things doeth the Lord hate: yea, his soule abhorreth seuen:

17 അഹന്തനിറഞ്ഞ കണ്ണ്, വ്യാജംപറയുന്ന നാവ്, നിരപരാധിയുടെ രക്തം ചൊരിയുന്ന കൈകൾ,

The hautie eyes, a lying tongue, and the hands that shed innocent blood,

18 ദുരുപായം മെനയുന്ന ഹൃദയം, അകൃത്യത്തിലേക്ക് ദ്രുതഗതിയിൽ പായുന്ന കാലുകൾ,

An heart that imagineth wicked enterprises, feete that be swift in running to mischiefe,

19 നുണമാത്രം പറഞ്ഞുകൂട്ടുന്ന കള്ളസാക്ഷി, സഹോദരങ്ങൾക്കിടയിൽ ഭിന്നത വളർത്തുന്ന മനുഷ്യനുംതന്നെ.

A false witnesse that speaketh lyes, and him that rayseth vp contentions among brethren.

20 എന്റെ കുഞ്ഞേ, നിന്റെ പിതാവിന്റെ കൽപ്പനകൾ പ്രമാണിക്കുക നിന്റെ മാതാവിന്റെ ഉപദേശം ഉപേക്ഷിക്കുകയും ചെയ്യരുത്.

My sonne, keepe thy fathers commandement, and forsake not thy mothers instruction.

21 അവ എപ്പോഴും നിന്റെ ഹൃദയത്തോടു ചേർത്തുബന്ധിക്കുക; അവ നിന്റെ കഴുത്തിനുചുറ്റും ഉറപ്പിക്കുക.

Binde them alway vpon thine heart, and tye them about thy necke.

22 നീ നടക്കുമ്പോൾ അവ നിനക്കു വഴികാട്ടും; നീ ഉറങ്ങുമ്പോൾ അവ നിനക്കു കാവലാളായിരിക്കും; നീ ഉണരുമ്പോൾ അവ നിന്നെ ഉപദേശിക്കും.

It shall leade thee, when thou walkest: it shall watch for thee, when thou sleepest, and when thou wakest, it shall talke with thee.

23 കാരണം ഈ കൽപ്പന ഒരു ദീപവും ഈ ഉപദേശം ഒരു പ്രകാശവും ആകുന്നു, ശിക്ഷണത്തിനുള്ള ശാസനകൾ ജീവന്റെ മാർഗംതന്നെ,

For the commandement is a lanterne, and instruction a light: and corrections for instruction are the way of life,

24 അവ നിന്നെ വ്യഭിചാരിണിയിൽനിന്നും ലൈംഗികധാർമികതയില്ലാത്തവളുടെ മധുരഭാഷണത്തിൽനിന്നും സൂക്ഷിക്കും.

To keepe thee from the wicked woman, and from ye flatterie of ye tongue of a strange woman.

25 അവളുടെ മേനിയഴകിനാൽ നിന്റെ ഹൃദയം ആസക്തമാകരുത് അവളുടെ മോഹിപ്പിക്കുന്ന കണ്ണുകളിൽ നീ കുരുങ്ങിപ്പോകുകയും അരുത്.

Desire not her beautie in thine heart, neither let her take thee with her eye lids.

26 എന്തുകൊണ്ടെന്നാൽ, ഒരു വേശ്യനിമിത്തം നീ അപ്പനുറുക്കുകൾ ഇരക്കേണ്ടിവരും, എന്നാൽ അന്യപുരുഷന്റെ ഭാര്യ നിന്റെ ജീവനെ മൊത്തമായിത്തന്നെ ഇരയാക്കുന്നു.

For because of the whorish woman a man is brought to a morsell of bread, and a woman wil hunt for the precious life of a man.

27 ഒരു പുരുഷന് തന്റെ വസ്ത്രം കത്തിയെരിയാത്തവിധം തന്റെ മടിത്തട്ടിലേക്ക് തീ കോരിയിടാൻ കഴിയുമോ?

Can a man take fire in his bosome, and his clothes not be burnt?

28 ഒരു മനുഷ്യന് തന്റെ പാദങ്ങൾക്കു പൊള്ളൽ ഏൽപ്പിക്കാതെ എരിയുന്ന കനലിന്മേൽ നടക്കാൻ കഴിയുമോ?

Or can a man go vpon coales, and his feete not be burnt?

29 അന്യപുരുഷന്റെ ഭാര്യയുമായി കിടക്ക പങ്കിടുന്നവന്റെ ഗതിയും ഇതുതന്നെയായിരിക്കും; അവളെ സ്പർശിക്കുന്ന ഒരുവനും ശിക്ഷിക്കപ്പെടാതെ പോകുന്നില്ല.

So he that goeth in to his neighbours wife, shall not be innocent, whosoeuer toucheth her.

30 പട്ടിണിമൂലം, വിശപ്പടക്കാൻ മോഷ്ടിക്കുന്നവനെ ആരുംതന്നെ നിന്ദിക്കുകയില്ല.

Men do not despise a thiefe, when he stealeth, to satisfie his soule, because he is hungrie.

31 പിടിക്കപ്പെടുകയാണെങ്കിൽ അയാൾ ഏഴിരട്ടി മടക്കിക്കൊടുക്കണം, മോഷണമുതലിന്റെ മതിപ്പുമൂല്യം തന്റെ ഭവനത്തിലുള്ളതെല്ലാംകൂടി മതിക്കപ്പെടുകയാണെങ്കിലും, കൊടുത്തേമതിയാകൂ.

But if he be founde, he shall restore seuen folde, or he shall giue all the substance of his house.

32 എന്നാൽ വ്യഭിചാരംചെയ്യുന്ന പുരുഷനോ, തന്റെ സ്വബോധം നശിച്ചവൻതന്നെ; അതു ചെയ്യുന്നവൻ ആരായാലും സ്വയം നശിപ്പിക്കുന്നു.

But he that committeth adulterie with a woman, he is destitute of vnderstanding: he that doeth it, destroyeth his owne soule.

33 മർദനവും മാനഹാനിയുമാണ് അയാളുടെ ഭാഗധേയം, അയാളുടെ നിന്ദ ഒരിക്കലും തുടച്ചുമാറ്റപ്പെടുകയില്ല.

He shall finde a wounde and dishonour, and his reproch shall neuer be put away.

34 അസൂയ ഒരു ഭർത്താവിന്റെ കോപത്തെ ഉദ്ദീപിപ്പിക്കുന്നു, പ്രതികാരദിവസത്തിൽ അവൻ യാതൊരുവിധ കനിവും കാണിക്കുകയില്ല.

For ielousie is the rage of a man: therefore he will not spare in the day of vengeance.

35 ഈ കാര്യത്തിൽ അവൻ യാതൊരുവിധ നഷ്ടപരിഹാരവും സ്വീകരിക്കുകയില്ല; അത് എത്ര ഭീമമായത് ആയിരുന്നാലും അവൻ ആ കോഴ സ്വീകരിക്കുകയില്ല.

He cannot beare the sight of any raunsome: neither will he consent, though thou augment the giftes.
