സദൃശവാക്യങ്ങൾ 4
1 എന്റെ കുഞ്ഞുങ്ങളേ, പിതാവിന്റെ നിർദേശങ്ങൾ ശ്രവിക്കുക; അതിൽ ശ്രദ്ധനൽകി വിവേചനശക്തി കൈവരിക്കുക.
Hear, ye children, the instruction of a father, and attend that you may know prudence.
2 കാരണം ഞാൻ നിനക്കു സദുപദേശം നൽകുന്നു, എന്റെ അഭ്യസനം നിരാകരിക്കരുത്.
I will give you a good gift, forsake not my law.
3 ഞാനും എന്റെ പിതാവിനു മകനും മാതാവിന്റെ ഏക ഓമനസന്താനവും ആയിരുന്നു.
For I also was my father’s son, tender and as an only son in the sight of my mother:
4 എന്റെ പിതാവ് എന്നെ പഠിപ്പിച്ച് എന്നോട് ഇപ്രകാരം പറഞ്ഞു: “എന്റെ വാക്കുകൾ നീ ഹൃദയപൂർവം സ്വീകരിക്കുക; എന്റെ കൽപ്പനകൾ പാലിച്ചാൽ നീ ജീവിക്കും.
And he taught me, and said: Let thy heart receive my words, keep my commandments, and thou shalt live.
5 ജ്ഞാനം നേടുക, വിവേകം ആർജിക്കുക; എന്റെ വാക്കുകൾ വിസ്മരിക്കുകയോ അവയിൽനിന്നു വ്യതിചലിക്കുകയോ അരുത്.
Get wisdom, get prudence: forget not, neither decline from the words of my mouth.
6 ജ്ഞാനത്തെ ഉപേക്ഷിക്കരുത്, അവൾ നിന്നെ സംരക്ഷിക്കും; അവളെ സ്നേഹിക്കുക, അവൾ നിനക്കു കാവൽനിൽക്കും.
Forsake her not, and she shall keep thee: love her, and she shall preserve thee.
7 ജ്ഞാനം പരമപ്രധാനമാണ്; ആകയാൽ നീ ജ്ഞാനം കൈവരിക്കുക. നിനക്കുള്ളതെല്ലാം ചെലവഴിച്ചിട്ടായാലും അറിവ് സമ്പാദിക്കുക.
The beginning of wisdom, get wisdom, and with all thy possession purchase prudence.
8 അവളെ താലോലിക്കുക, അവൾ നിന്നെ ഉയർത്തും; അവളെ ആലിംഗനംചെയ്യുക, അവൾ നിന്നെ ആദരിക്കും.
Take hold on her, and she shall exalt thee: thou shalt be glorified by her, when thou shalt embrace her.
9 അവൾ നിന്റെ ശിരസ്സിന് അഴകേകുന്ന ഒരു ലതാമകുടം അണിയിക്കുകയും ശോഭയുള്ള കിരീടം നിനക്ക് ഉപഹാരമായി നൽകുകയും ചെയ്യും.”
She shall give to thy head increase of graces, and protect thee with a noble crown.
10 എന്റെ കുഞ്ഞേ, എന്റെ വാക്കുകൾ ശ്രദ്ധിച്ച് അവ അംഗീകരിക്കുക, എന്നാൽ നീ ദീർഘായുസ്സുള്ള വ്യക്തിയായിരിക്കും.
Hear, O my son, and receive my words, that years of life may be multiplied to thee.
11 ഞാൻ നിന്നെ ജ്ഞാനമാർഗത്തിലേക്കു നയിക്കുന്നു നേരായ പാതകളിൽ നിന്നെ നടത്തുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നു.
I will shew thee the way of wisdom, I will lead thee by the paths of equity:
12 നീ നടക്കുമ്പോൾ നിന്റെ കാലടികൾക്കു തടസ്സം നേരിടുകയില്ല; ഓടുമ്പോൾ, നീ ഇടറിവീഴുകയുമില്ല.
Which when thou shalt have entered, thy steps shall not be straitened, and when thou runnest thou shalt not meet a stumblingblock.
13 ശിക്ഷണം മുറുകെപ്പിടിക്കുക, അതിനെ കൈവെടിയരുത്; അതിനെ സംരക്ഷിക്കുക, കാരണം അതാകുന്നു നിന്റെ ജീവൻ.
Take hold on instruction, leave it not: keep it, because it is thy life.
14 ദുഷ്ടരുടെ വഴിയിൽ നീ പ്രവേശിക്കരുത് ദുർമാർഗികളുടെ പാതയിൽ നീ സഞ്ചരിക്കുകയുമരുത്.
Be not delighted in the paths of the wicked, neither let the way of evil men please thee.
15 അത് ഒഴിവാക്കുക, ആ വഴിയിൽക്കൂടി സഞ്ചരിക്കരുത്; അത് വിട്ടൊഴിഞ്ഞ് നിന്റെ ലക്ഷ്യത്തിലേക്കു കുതിക്കുക.
Flee from it, pass not by it: go aside, and forsake it.
16 കാരണം അകൃത്യംചെയ്യുന്നതുവരെ അവർക്ക് ഉറക്കംവരികയില്ല; ആരെയെങ്കിലും വീഴ്ത്തിയില്ലെങ്കിൽ അവരെ സുഖനിദ്ര കൈവിടുന്നു,
For they sleep not except they have done evil: and their sleep is taken away unless they have made some to fall.
17 അവർ ദുഷ്ടതയുടെ ആഹാരം ഭക്ഷിക്കുന്നു അതിക്രമത്തിന്റെ വീഞ്ഞു പാനംചെയ്യുന്നു.
They eat the bread of wickedness, and drink the wine of iniquity.
18 നീതിനിഷ്ഠരുടെ പാത അരുണോദയത്തിലെ പ്രഭപോലെയാകുന്നു, അതു നട്ടുച്ചവരെ അധികമധികമായി പ്രശോഭിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കും.
But the path of the just, as a shining light, goeth forwards and increaseth even to perfect day.
19 എന്നാൽ ദുഷ്ടരുടെ പാതകൾ ഘോരാന്ധകാരംപോലെയാണ്; ഏതിൽ തട്ടിവീഴുമെന്ന് അവർ അറിയുന്നില്ല.
The way of the wicked is darksome: they know not where they fall.
20 എന്റെ കുഞ്ഞേ, എന്റെ വാക്കുകൾ സശ്രദ്ധം ശ്രവിക്കുക; എന്റെ മൊഴികൾക്കു ചെവിചായ്‌ക്കുക.
My son, hearken to my words, and incline thy ear to my sayings.
21 അവ നിന്റെ കൺമുമ്പിൽനിന്നും മറയാൻ അനുവദിക്കരുത്, അവ നിന്റെ ഹൃദയത്തിൽത്തന്നെ സൂക്ഷിക്കുക;
Let them not depart from thy eyes, keep them in the midst of thy heart:
22 കാരണം, കണ്ടെത്തുന്നവർക്ക് അവ ജീവനും അവരുടെ ശരീരംമുഴുവൻ ആരോഗ്യവും നൽകുന്നു.
For they are life to those that find them, and health to all flesh.
23 എല്ലാറ്റിനുമുപരി നിന്റെ ഹൃദയത്തെ സംരക്ഷിക്കുക, കാരണം അതിൽനിന്നാണ് ജീവന്റെ ഉറവ ഉത്ഭവിക്കുന്നത്.
With all watchfulness keep thy heart, because life issueth out from it.
24 വഞ്ചന നിന്റെ വായിൽനിന്ന് ഒഴിവാക്കുക; ദുർഭാഷണത്തിൽനിന്നു നിന്റെ അധരങ്ങളെ അകറ്റിനിർത്തുക.
Remove from thee a froward mouth, and let detracting lips be far from thee.
25 നിന്റെ ദൃഷ്ടികൾ ഋജുവായിരിക്കട്ടെ; നിന്റെ കണ്ണുകൾ മുൻപോട്ടുതന്നെ പതിപ്പിക്കുക.
Let thy eyes look straight on, and let thy eyelids go before thy steps.
26 നിന്റെ പാദങ്ങൾക്കു പാത നിരപ്പാക്കുക അപ്പോൾ നിന്റെ വഴികളെല്ലാം സുസ്ഥിരമായിരിക്കും.
Make straight the path for thy feet, and all thy ways shall be established.
27 നീ വലത്തോട്ടോ ഇടത്തോട്ടോ വ്യതിചലിക്കരുത്; നിന്റെ കാലുകൾ തിന്മയിൽനിന്ന് ഒഴിഞ്ഞിരിക്കട്ടെ.
Decline not to the right hand, nor to the left: turn away thy foot from evil. For the Lord knoweth the ways that are on the right hand: but those are perverse which are on the left hand. But he will make thy courses straight, he will bring forward thy ways in peace.
