സദൃശവാക്യങ്ങൾ 24
1 ദുഷ്ടരോടു നീ അസൂയപ്പെടരുത്, അവരുമായുള്ള കൂട്ടുകെട്ട് നീ അഭിലഷിക്കുകയുമരുത്;
Do not be envious of evil men, And do not desire to be with them.
2 കാരണം അവരുടെ ഹൃദയം അതിക്രമത്തിനു കളമൊരുക്കുന്നു, അവരുടെ അധരങ്ങൾ സംഘർഷം സൃഷ്ടിക്കുന്നതിനെപ്പറ്റി സംസാരിക്കുന്നു.
For their heart meditates [on] destruction, And their lips speak perverseness.
3 ജ്ഞാനത്താൽ ഒരു ഭവനം നിർമിക്കപ്പെടുന്നു, വിവേകത്തിലൂടെ അതു സ്ഥിരപ്പെടുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നു.
A house is built by wisdom, And it establishes itself by understanding.
4 അതിന്റെ മുറികൾ പരിജ്ഞാനത്താൽ നിറയ്ക്കപ്പെടുന്നു; അമൂല്യവും രമണീയവുമായ നിക്ഷേപങ്ങൾകൊണ്ടുതന്നെ.
And the inner parts are filled by knowledge, [With] all precious and pleasant wealth.
5 ജ്ഞാനിക്ക് ബലമുള്ളവരെക്കാൾ ശക്തിയുണ്ട്, പരിജ്ഞാനി ശക്തിക്കുമേൽ ശക്തിനേടുന്നു.
The wise [is] mighty in strength, And a man of knowledge is strengthening power,
6 യുദ്ധത്തിൽ മുന്നേറാൻ മാർഗനിർദേശങ്ങൾ ആവശ്യമാണ്, എന്നാൽ ഉപദേഷ്ടാക്കളുടെ ബാഹുല്യം വിജയം ഉറപ്പിക്കുന്നു.
For you make war for yourself by plans, And deliverance [is] in a multitude of counselors.
7 ജ്ഞാനം ഭോഷർക്ക് അപ്രാപ്യം; പട്ടണകവാടത്തിൽ സമ്മേളിക്കുമ്പോൾ അവർക്ക് പ്രതിവാദം ഇല്ലാതെയാകുന്നു.
Wisdom [is] high for a fool, he does not open his mouth in the gate.
8 ദുഷ്കൃത്യങ്ങൾ ആസൂത്രണംചെയ്യുന്നവർ ഗൂഢാലോചനയിൽ വിദഗ്ദ്ധർ എന്നു വിളിക്കപ്പെടും.
Whoever is devising to do evil, They call him a master of wicked thoughts.
9 ഭോഷത്തം ആസൂത്രണംചെയ്യുന്നത് പാപം, പരിഹാസിയെ ജനം വെറുക്കുന്നു.
The thought of folly [is] sin, And a scorner [is] an abomination to man.
10 ആപത്ഘട്ടത്തിൽ നിങ്ങൾ ഇടറിപ്പോകുന്നെങ്കിൽ, നിങ്ങളുടെ ശക്തി എത്രയോ പരിമിതം!
You have showed yourself weak in a day of adversity, Your power is restricted,
11 അന്യായമായി മരണത്തിലേക്കു നയിക്കപ്പെടുന്നവരെ വിടുവിക്കുക; കൊലക്കളത്തിലേക്ക് ഇടറിയിടറി നീങ്ങുന്നവരെ രക്ഷിക്കുക.
If [from] delivering those taken to death, And you take back those slipping to the slaughter.
12 “ഞങ്ങൾ ഇതേപ്പറ്റി യാതൊന്നും അറിഞ്ഞിരുന്നില്ല,” എന്നു നീ പറഞ്ഞാൽ, ഹൃദയത്തെ തൂക്കിനോക്കുന്നവൻ അതു മനസ്സിലാക്കാതിരിക്കുമോ? നിന്റെ ജീവൻ സംരക്ഷിക്കുന്ന അവിടത്തേക്ക് ഇത് അറിയാതിരിക്കുമോ? അവിടന്ന് ഓരോരുത്തർക്കും അവരുടെ പ്രവൃത്തികൾക്കനുസരിച്ച് പകരം ചെയ്യാതിരിക്കുമോ?
When you say, “Behold, we did not know this.” Is the Ponderer of hearts not He who understands? And the Keeper of your soul He who knows? And He has rendered to man according to his work.
13 എന്റെ കുഞ്ഞേ, തേൻ കഴിക്കുക, അതു നല്ലതാണ്; തേനടയിലെ തേൻ നിന്റെ നാവിന് ആസ്വാദ്യമാണ്.
My son, eat honey that [is] good, And the honeycomb [is] sweet to your palate.
14 അതുപോലെതന്നെ, ജ്ഞാനം നിനക്ക് തേൻപോലെയെന്ന് അറിയുക: അതു നീ കണ്ടെത്തിയാൽ, നിനക്കു ശോഭനമായൊരു ഭാവിയുണ്ട്, നിന്റെ പ്രത്യാശ അറ്റുപോകുകയില്ല.
So [is] the knowledge of wisdom to your soul, If you have found that there is a posterity And your hope is not cut off.
15 നീതിനിഷ്ഠരുടെ ഭവനത്തിനെതിരേ ദുഷ്ടരെപ്പോലെ പതിയിരിക്കരുത്, അവരുടെ പാർപ്പിടം കൊള്ളയിടുകയുമരുത്;
Do not lay wait, O wicked one, At the habitation of the righteous. Do not spoil his resting place.
16 കാരണം നീതിനിഷ്ഠർ ഏഴുവട്ടം വീണാലും അവർ എഴുന്നേൽക്കുകതന്നെചെയ്യും, എന്നാൽ ദുരന്തമുണ്ടാകുമ്പോൾ ദുഷ്ടർ നിലംപരിശാകുന്നു.
For the righteous fall and rise seven [times], And the wicked stumble in evil.
17 നിങ്ങളുടെ ശത്രുവിന്റെ പതനത്തിൽ ആനന്ദിക്കരുത്; അവരുടെ കാലിടറുമ്പോൾ നിന്റെ ഹൃദയം സന്തോഷിക്കുകയുമരുത്,
Do not rejoice in the falling of your enemy, And do not let your heart be joyful in his stumbling,
18 അങ്ങനെയായാൽ, യഹോവ അതുകണ്ട് അതൃപ്തനാകുകയും അവിടത്തെ കോപം ശത്രുവിൽനിന്നു പിൻവലിക്കുകയും ചെയ്യും.
Lest YHWH see, and [it be] evil in His eyes, And He has turned His anger from off him.
19 ദുഷ്ടർനിമിത്തം ക്ഷോഭിക്കുകയോ നീചരായവരോട് അസൂയപ്പെടുകയോ അരുത്,
Do not fret yourself at evildoers, do not be envious at the wicked,
20 കാരണം നീചർക്കു ഭാവിപ്രതീക്ഷയില്ല, ദുഷ്ടരുടെ വിളക്ക് ഊതിയണയ്ക്കപ്പെടുകയും ചെയ്യും.
For there is not a posterity to the evil, The lamp of the wicked is extinguished.
21 എന്റെ കുഞ്ഞേ, യഹോവയെയും രാജാവിനെയും ഭയപ്പെടുക, മത്സരികളുടെ സംഘത്തിൽ ചേരുകയുമരുത്,
Fear YHWH, my son, and the king, Do not mix yourself up with changers,
22 കാരണം അവരിരുവരും മത്സരികൾക്കുനേരേ ശീഘ്രനാശം അയയ്ക്കും, അവർ എന്തൊക്കെ ദുരിതങ്ങളാണ് അഴിച്ചുവിടുന്നതെന്ന് ആർക്കറിയാം?
For their calamity rises suddenly, And the ruin of them both—who knows!
23 ഇവയും ജ്ഞാനിയുടെ സൂക്തങ്ങൾതന്നെയാണ്: വിധിനിർണയത്തിൽ പക്ഷഭേദം ഉചിതമല്ല:
These are also for the wise: [It] is not good to discern faces in judgment.
24 ഒരു കുറ്റവാളിയോട്, “താങ്കൾ നിരപരാധിയാണ്,” എന്നു പറയുന്നവരെ പൊതുജനം ശപിക്കുകയും ജനതകൾ വെറുക്കുകയും ചെയ്യും.
Whoever is saying to the wicked, “You [are] righteous,” Peoples execrate him—nations abhor him.
25 എന്നാൽ കുറ്റവാളിയെ ശിക്ഷിക്കുന്നവർക്ക് നന്മ കൈവരും, അനവധി അനുഗ്രഹങ്ങൾ വന്നുചേരും.
And it is pleasant to those reproving, And a good blessing comes on them.
26 സത്യസന്ധമായ ഉത്തരം യഥാർഥ സൗഹൃദത്തിന്റെ ചിഹ്നമാണ്.
He who is returning straightforward words kisses lips.
27 വെളിയിൽ നിന്റെ വേല ക്രമീകരിക്കുക നിന്റെ പുരയിടം ഒരുക്കുക; അതിനുശേഷം നിന്റെ ഗൃഹനിർമിതി തുടങ്ങുക.
Prepare your work in an out-place, And make it ready in the field—go afterward, Then you have built your house.
28 മതിയായ കാരണമില്ലാതെ നിന്റെ അയൽവാസിക്കെതിരേ മൊഴിനൽകരുത്— നിന്റെ അധരങ്ങൾകൊണ്ട് അവരെ വഞ്ചിക്കരുത്.
Do not be a witness against your neighbor for nothing, Or you have enticed with your lips.
29 “അവർ എന്നോടു ചെയ്തതുപോലെതന്നെ ഞാൻ അവരോടുംചെയ്യും; അവർ ചെയ്തതിനൊക്കെ ഞാൻ അവരോടു പകരംവീട്ടും,” എന്നു പറയരുത്.
Do not say, “As he did to me, so I do to him, I render to each according to his work.”
30 ഞാൻ അലസരുടെ കൃഷിയിടത്തിനരികിലൂടെയും ബുദ്ധിഹീനരുടെ മുന്തിരിത്തോപ്പിനരികിലൂടെയും നടന്നുപോയി;
I passed by near the field of a slothful man, And near the vineyard of a man lacking heart.
31 അവിടെയെല്ലാം മുൾച്ചെടികൾ പടർന്നുപിടിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു, നിലമെല്ലാം കളകൾ മൂടിയിരിക്കുന്നു, അതിലെ മതിലുകൾ ഇടിഞ്ഞുപോയിരിക്കുന്നു.
And behold, it has gone up—all of it—thorns! Nettles have covered its face, And its stone wall has been broken down.
32 ഞാൻ നിരീക്ഷിച്ചവ വിചിന്തനത്തിനു വിധേയമാക്കി, ഞാൻ കണ്ടതിൽനിന്നും ഒരു പാഠം പഠിച്ചു:
And I see—I set my heart, I have seen—I have received instruction,
33 ഒരൽപ്പം ഉറക്കം, ഒരൽപ്പം മയക്കം, ഒരൽപ്പനേരംകൂടി കൈകൾ കെട്ടിപ്പിണച്ചുള്ള വിശ്രമം;
A little sleep—a little slumber—A little folding of the hands to lie down.
34 അങ്ങനെ ദാരിദ്ര്യം കൊള്ളക്കാരെപ്പോലെ നിന്റെമേൽ ചാടിവീഴും ദുർഭിക്ഷത ഒരു ആയുധപാണിയെപ്പോലെ നിന്നെ ആക്രമിക്കും.
And your poverty has come [as] a traveler, And your want as an armed man!
