സദൃശവാക്യങ്ങൾ 19
1 വഞ്ചനാപരമായി സംസാരിക്കുന്ന ഭോഷരെക്കാൾ പരമാർഥതയോടെ ജീവിക്കുന്ന ദരിദ്രർ എത്ര നല്ലവർ.
Better is a poor man, walking in his integrity, than one of perverse lips, and, he, a dullard.
2 പരിജ്ഞാനമില്ലാതെ ആവേശംകാണിക്കുന്നതു നല്ലതല്ല, തിടുക്കത്തോടെ ചുവടുകൾവെക്കുന്നവർക്കു വഴിതെറ്റുന്നു.
Surely, for the soul to be, without knowledge, is not good, and, he that hasteth with his feet, strayeth.
3 ഒരു മനുഷ്യന്റെ മൗഢ്യം അയാളെ നാശത്തിലേക്കു നയിക്കുന്നു, എന്നിട്ടും അയാളുടെ ഹൃദയം യഹോവയ്ക്കെതിരേ രോഷാകുലമാകുന്നു.
The folly of a man, subverteth his way, and, against Yahweh, his heart is angry.
4 സമ്പത്ത് ധാരാളം സുഹൃത്തുക്കളെ കൊണ്ടുവരുന്നു, എന്നാൽ ദാരിദ്ര്യം ഉറ്റസുഹൃത്തുക്കളെപ്പോലും അകറ്റുന്നു.
Wealth, addeth many friends, but, the poor man, from his own friend, is parted.
5 കള്ളസാക്ഷി ശിക്ഷിക്കപ്പെടാതിരിക്കുകയില്ല, വ്യാജം പറഞ്ഞുഫലിപ്പിക്കുന്നവർ രക്ഷപ്പെടുകയുമില്ല.
A false witness, shall not be held innocent, and, he that uttereth lies, shall not escape.
6 ഭരണകർത്താക്കളുടെ പ്രീതിക്കായി ധാരാളമാളുകൾ ശ്രമിക്കുന്നു, എല്ലാവരും ദാനശീലരുടെ സുഹൃത്തുക്കളുമാകുന്നു.
Many, will entreat the favour of a noble, and, every one, is a friend to a man abounding in gifts.
7 ദരിദ്രരുടെ ബന്ധുക്കളെല്ലാം അവരെ ഒഴിവാക്കുന്നു— അവരുടെ സുഹൃത്തുക്കൾ അവരുമായി അകലംപാലിക്കാൻ എത്രയധികം ശ്രമിക്കും! ദരിദ്രർ അവരോടു കേണപേക്ഷിക്കും എന്നാൽ അവർ പ്രതികരിക്കുകപോലുമില്ല.
All the brethren of a poor man, hate him, how much more have, his friends, gone far from him, he may hunt up promises—there are none.
8 ജ്ഞാനം ആർജിക്കുന്നവർ തന്റെ ജീവനെ സ്നേഹിക്കുന്നു; വിവേകത്തെ പരിപോഷിപ്പിക്കുന്നവർ അഭിവൃദ്ധിനേടും.
He that acquireth sense, loveth his own soul, he that guardeth understanding, shall find blessing.
9 കള്ളസാക്ഷി ശിക്ഷിക്കപ്പെടാതിരിക്കുകയില്ല, വ്യാജം പറഞ്ഞുഫലിപ്പിക്കുന്നവർ നശിച്ചുപോകും.
A false witness, shall not be held innocent, and, he that uttereth lies, shall perish.
10 ആഡംബരജീവിതം ഭോഷർക്കു യോജിച്ചതല്ല— രാജകുമാരന്മാരെ ഒരടിമ ഭരിക്കുന്നത് അതിലെത്രയോ അനഭികാമ്യം!
Unseemly for a dullard, is delicate living, how much more for, a servant, to bear rule over princes.
11 ഒരാളുടെ ജ്ഞാനം അയാൾക്കു ക്ഷമാശീലം നൽകുന്നു; അതിക്രമത്തെ അവഗണിക്കുന്നതിലൂടെ അയാൾ ആദരവുനേടുന്നു.
The discretion of a man, deferreth his anger, and, his adorning, is to pass over transgression.
12 രാജക്രോധം സിംഹഗർജനംപോലെയാണ്, എന്നാൽ അവിടത്തെ പ്രസാദം പുൽപ്പുറത്തെ തുഷാരബിന്ദുപോലെയും.
The growl as of a young lion, is the rage of a king, but, like dew upon the grass, is his good pleasure.
13 ഒരു ഭോഷസന്താനം പിതാവിന്റെ നാശം; കലഹപ്രിയയായ ഭാര്യയോ, നിലയ്ക്കാത്ത ചോർച്ചപോലെയും.
Engulfing ruin to his father, is a son that is a dullard, —and, a continuous dripping, are the contentions of a wife.
14 വീടുകളും ധനവും പൈതൃകസ്വത്തായി ലഭിക്കുന്ന ഓഹരി, എന്നാൽ വിവേകമതിയായ ഭാര്യ യഹോവയുടെ ദാനം.
House and substance, are an inheritance from one’s fathers, but, from Yahweh, cometh a wife who is prudent.
15 അലസത ഗാഢനിദ്ര വരുത്തുന്നു, മടിയൻ വിശന്നുനടക്കുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നു.
Sloth, falleth into a deep sleep, and, a soul that is indolent, shall famish.
16 കൽപ്പനകൾ പ്രമാണിക്കുന്നവർ തങ്ങളുടെ ജീവൻ സൂക്ഷിക്കുന്നു, എന്നാൽ അവയെ അവഗണിക്കുന്നവർ മരിക്കും.
One who guardeth the commandment, guardeth his life, he that is reckless in his ways, shall die.
17 ദരിദ്രരോടു ദയകാണിക്കുന്നവർ യഹോവയ്ക്കു വായ്പകൊടുക്കുന്നു, അവരുടെ പ്രവൃത്തികൾക്ക് അവിടന്ന് പ്രതിഫലംനൽകും.
A lender to Yahweh, is one who sheweth favour to the poor, and, his good deed, He will pay him back.
18 പ്രതീക്ഷയുള്ളിടത്തോളം നിന്റെ മക്കളെ ശിക്ഷണത്തിൽ വളർത്തുക; അവർ നശിച്ചുപോകട്ടെയെന്ന് ആഗ്രഹിക്കരുത്.
Correct thy son, because there is hope, yet, not so as to slay him, let thy passion be excited.
19 ക്ഷിപ്രകോപിയായ മനുഷ്യൻ പിഴയൊടുക്കേണ്ടിവരും; ഒരിക്കൽ നിങ്ങൾ അയാളെ സഹായിച്ചാൽ, നിങ്ങൾക്കത് ആവർത്തിക്കേണ്ടതായിവരും.
A man in a rage, taketh away the penalty, —nevertheless, if thou let him go free, the more [stripes] must thou add.
20 ഉപദേശം ശ്രദ്ധിക്കുകയും ശിക്ഷണം അംഗീകരിക്കുകയും ചെയ്യുക, അങ്ങനെ ശിഷ്ടകാലം നിങ്ങൾക്കു ജ്ഞാനിയായി ജീവിക്കാൻ കഴിയും.
Hear counsel, receive correction, that thou mayest be wise in thine after-life.
21 മനുഷ്യന്റെ ഹൃദയത്തിൽ നിരവധി പദ്ധതികളുണ്ട്, എന്നാൽ യഹോവയുടെ തീരുമാനങ്ങൾമാത്രം നടപ്പിലാകുന്നു.
Many are the devices in a man’s heart, but, the counsel of Yahweh, that, shall stand.
22 ഒരു മനുഷ്യനിൽ അഭികാമ്യമായിട്ടുള്ളത് കരുണയാണ്; നുണപറയുന്നവരായിരിക്കുന്നതിലും, ദരിദ്രരായിരിക്കുന്നതാണ് നല്ലത്.
The charm of a man, is his lovingkindness, —and better a poor man, than one who deceiveth.
23 യഹോവാഭക്തി ജീവനിലേക്കു നയിക്കുന്നു; അപ്പോൾ അവർ വിപത്തൊഴിഞ്ഞ് സംതൃപ്തരായി വിശ്രമിക്കും.
The reverence of Yahweh, leadeth to life, satisfied then, let a man remain—let him not be visited by calamity.
24 അലസർ ഭക്ഷണപാത്രത്തിൽ കൈ പൂഴ്ത്തുന്നു; അവർ അതു തിരികെ തന്റെ വായിലേക്ക് അടുപ്പിക്കുകപോലുമില്ല!
A sluggard burieth his hand in the dish, even unto his own mouth, will he not bring it back.
25 ഒരു പരിഹാസിയെ അടിക്കുക, അങ്ങനെ ലളിതമാനസർ വിവേകം അഭ്യസിക്കും; വിവേകിയെ ശാസിക്കുക, അവർ പരിജ്ഞാനം നേടും.
The scoffer, thou shalt smite, and, the simple, will beware, but correct a man of intelligence—he will understand teaching.
26 സ്വപിതാവിനെ കൊള്ളയടിക്കുകയും മാതാവിനെ അടിച്ചോടിക്കുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നവർ മാനഹാനിക്ക് ഇരയാകും.
He that ruineth his father, and chaseth away his mother, is a son causing shame and reproach.
27 എന്റെ കുഞ്ഞേ, എന്റെ ഉപദേശങ്ങൾ ശ്രദ്ധിക്കാതിരുന്നാൽ, പരിജ്ഞാനത്തിന്റെ വാക്കുകളിൽനിന്ന് നീ അലഞ്ഞുതിരിയേണ്ടിവരും.
Cease, my son, to hear instruction that would cause thee to wander from the sayings of knowledge.
28 അഴിമതിക്കു കൂട്ടുനിൽക്കുന്ന സാക്ഷി നീതിയെ അവഹേളിക്കുന്നു, ദുഷ്ടരുടെ വായ് അന്യായത്തെ വിഴുങ്ങുന്നു.
An abandoned witness, scorneth justice, and, the mouth of lawless men, swalloweth iniquity.
29 പരിഹാസിക്കു ന്യായവിധിയും ഭോഷരുടെ മുതുകിനു പ്രഹരവും ഒരുക്കിയിരിക്കുന്നു.
Prepared for scoffers, are punishments, and stripes, for the back of dullards.
