1 യഹോവ മോശയോട്,
Adonai spoke to Moses [Drawn out], saying,
2 “ഇസ്രായേല്യർക്കുവേണ്ടി മിദ്യാന്യരോടു പ്രതികാരം നടത്തുക. അതിനുശേഷം നീ നിന്റെ ജനത്തോടു ചേർക്കപ്പെടും” എന്ന് അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു.
“Avenge the children of Israel [God prevails] for the Midianites [Descendants of Strife]. Afterward you shall be gathered to your people.”
3 അങ്ങനെ മോശ ജനത്തോടു പറഞ്ഞു: “മിദ്യാന്യർക്കെതിരായി യുദ്ധംചെയ്യേണ്ടതിനും യഹോവയ്ക്ക് അവരുടെമേലുള്ള പ്രതികാരം നടത്തേണ്ടതിനുമായി നിങ്ങളുടെ പുരുഷന്മാരിൽ ചിലരെ സജ്ജരാക്കുക.
Moses [Drawn out] spoke to the people, saying, “Arm men from among you for the war, that they may go against Midian [Strife], to execute Adonai’s vengeance on Midian [Strife].
4 ഇസ്രായേല്യരുടെ ഓരോ ഗോത്രത്തിൽനിന്നും ആയിരം പുരുഷന്മാരെവീതം യുദ്ധത്തിനയയ്ക്കുക.”
Of every tribe one thousand, throughout all the tribes of Israel [God prevails], you shall send to the war.”
5 അങ്ങനെ ഇസ്രായേലിന്റെ കുലങ്ങളിൽനിന്ന് ആയിരംപേർവീതം തെരഞ്ഞെടുക്കപ്പെട്ടു; അങ്ങനെ പന്തീരായിരം പുരുഷന്മാർ യുദ്ധസന്നദ്ധരായി.
So there were delivered, out of the thousands of Israel [God prevails], a thousand of every tribe, twelve thousand armed for war.
6 ഓരോ ഗോത്രത്തിൽനിന്നും ആയിരംപേർ വീതമായിവന്ന അവരെ മോശ പുരോഹിതനായ എലെയാസാരിന്റെ പുത്രൻ ഫീനെഹാസിനൊപ്പം യുദ്ധത്തിനയച്ചു. വിശുദ്ധമന്ദിരത്തിൽനിന്നുള്ള ഉപകരണങ്ങളും മുന്നറിയിപ്പു നൽകുന്നതിനുള്ള കാഹളങ്ങളും അദ്ദേഹം തന്നോടൊപ്പം എടുത്തിരുന്നു.
Moses [Drawn out] sent them, one thousand of every tribe, to the war, them and Pinchas [Bronze skin] the son of Eleazar [Help of God] the priest, to the war, with the utensils of the sanctuary and the trumpets for the alarm in his hand.
7 യഹോവ മോശയോടു കൽപ്പിച്ചതുപോലെ അവർ മിദ്യാന്യരുമായി യുദ്ധംചെയ്ത് പുരുഷന്മാരെയൊക്കെയും വധിച്ചു.
They fought against Midian [Strife], as Adonai enjoined Moses [Drawn out]. They killed every male.
8 ആ വധിക്കപ്പെട്ടവരെക്കൂടാതെ ഏവി, രേക്കെം, സൂർ, ഹൂർ, രേബ എന്നീ മിദ്യാനിലെ അഞ്ചു രാജാക്കന്മാരെയും വധിച്ചു. ബെയോരിന്റെ മകനായ ബിലെയാമിനെയും അവർ വാൾകൊണ്ടു കൊന്നു.
They killed the kings of Midian [Strife] with the rest of their slain: Evi, Rekem, Zur, Hur, and Reba, the five kings of Midian [Strife]. They also killed Balaam [Not people, Destroyer of people] the son of Beor with the sword.
9 ഇസ്രായേല്യർ മിദ്യാന്യസ്ത്രീകളെയും കുഞ്ഞുങ്ങളെയും തടവുകാരാക്കി; അവരുടെ ആടുമാടുകളെ മുഴുവൻ എടുക്കുകയും അവരുടെ സമ്പത്ത് എല്ലാം കൊള്ളയിടുകയും ചെയ്തു.
The children of Israel [God prevails] took the women of Midian [Strife] captive with their little ones; and all their livestock, all their flocks, and all their goods, they took as plunder.
10 മിദ്യാന്യർ താമസിച്ചിരുന്ന സകലപട്ടണങ്ങളും അവരുടെ പാളയങ്ങളും അവർ തീയിട്ടു ചുട്ടു.
All their cities in the places in which they lived, and all their encampments, they burned with fire.
11 ജനങ്ങളും മൃഗങ്ങളും ഉൾപ്പെടെ സകലകൊള്ളവസ്തുക്കളും കവർച്ചയും അവർ എടുത്തു;
They took all the captives, and all the plunder, both of man and of animal.
12 യുദ്ധത്തടവുകാർ, കൊള്ളവസ്തുക്കൾ, കവർച്ച എന്നിവ മോശയുടെയും പുരോഹിതനായ എലെയാസാരിന്റെയും ഇസ്രായേല്യസഭയുടെയും അടുക്കൽ, അവർ പാളയമടിച്ചിരുന്ന യെരീഹോവിനെതിരേ യോർദാൻനദിക്കരികെയുള്ള മോവാബ് സമതലത്തിൽ കൊണ്ടുവന്നു.
They brought the captives, and the prey, and the plunder, to Moses [Drawn out], and to Eleazar [Help of God] the priest, and to the congregation of the children of Israel [God prevails], to the camp at the plains of Moab [From father], which are by the Jordan [Descender] at Jericho [Fragrant, Moon].
13 മോശയും പുരോഹിതനായ എലെയാസാരും സഭാനേതാക്കന്മാരെല്ലാവരും പാളയത്തിനുപുറത്ത് അവരെ എതിരേൽക്കാൻ പോയി.
Moses [Drawn out], and Eleazar [Help of God] the priest, and all the princes of the congregation, went out to meet them outside of the camp.
14 എന്നാൽ യുദ്ധംചെയ്തു മടങ്ങിവന്ന സഹസ്രാധിപന്മാരും ശതാധിപന്മാരുമായ സൈന്യാധിപന്മാരോട് മോശ കോപിച്ചു:
Moses [Drawn out] was angry with the officers of the army, the captains of thousands and the captains of hundreds, who came from the service of the war.
15 “സകലസ്ത്രീകളെയും നിങ്ങൾ ജീവനോടെ വെച്ചുവോ?” മോശ അവരോടു ചോദിച്ചു.
Moses [Drawn out] said to them, “Have you saved all the women alive?
16 “യഹോവയുടെ ജനത്തിന്മേൽ ഒരു ബാധ വരാൻ തക്കവണ്ണം പെയോരിലെ സംഭവത്തിൽ ബിലെയാമിന്റെ ഉപദേശം അനുസരിച്ചതിനാൽ, ഇസ്രായേല്യർ യഹോവയോട് അവിശ്വസ്തരായിത്തീരാൻ കാരണക്കാരായവർ അവരാണ്.
Behold, these caused the children of Israel [God prevails], through the counsel of Balaam [Not people, Destroyer of people], to commit an unfaithful act against Adonai in the matter of Peor, and so the plague was among the congregation of Adonai.
17 ഇപ്പോൾ സകല ആൺകുട്ടികളെയും പുരുഷനോടുകൂടെ ലൈംഗികബന്ധത്തിലേർപ്പെട്ടിട്ടുള്ള സകലസ്ത്രീകളെയും വധിക്കുക.
Now therefore kill every male among the little ones, and kill every woman who has known man by lying with him.
18 എന്നാൽ പുരുഷനോടുകൂടെ ഒരിക്കലും കിടക്കപങ്കിട്ടിട്ടില്ലാത്ത സകലപെൺകുട്ടികളെയും നിങ്ങൾക്കായി രക്ഷിക്കുക.
But all the girls, who have not known man by lying with him, keep alive for yourselves.
19 “ആരെയെങ്കിലും കൊന്നിട്ടുള്ളവരോ കൊല്ലപ്പെട്ട ആരെയെങ്കിലും സ്പർശിച്ചവരോ ആയ നിങ്ങൾ എല്ലാവരും ഏഴുദിവസത്തേക്കു പാളയത്തിനു വെളിയിൽ പാർക്കണം. മൂന്നും ഏഴും ദിവസങ്ങളിൽ നിങ്ങൾ നിങ്ങളെത്തന്നെയും നിങ്ങളുടെ ബന്ദികളെയും ശുദ്ധീകരിക്കണം.
“Encamp outside of the camp seven days. Whoever has killed any person, and whoever has touched any slain, cleanse sin ·err (the standard goal)· from yourselves on the third day and on the seventh day, you and your captives.
20 അപ്രകാരംതന്നെ സകലവസ്ത്രങ്ങളും തുകൽ, ആട്ടുരോമം, മരം എന്നിവകൊണ്ടു നിർമിച്ച സകലതും ശുദ്ധീകരിക്കണം.”
As to every garment, and all that is made of skin, and all work of goats’ hair, and all things made of wood, you shall purify yourselves.”
21 ഇതിനുശേഷം പുരോഹിതനായ എലെയാസാർ യുദ്ധത്തിനുപോയ പടയാളികളോടു പറഞ്ഞു, “യഹോവ മോശയ്ക്കു നൽകിയ ന്യായപ്രമാണത്തിലെ ചട്ടം ഇതാണ്:
Eleazar [Help of God] the priest said to the men of war who went to the battle, “This is the statute of the Torah ·Teaching· which Adonai has enjoined Moses [Drawn out]:
22 സ്വർണം, വെള്ളി, വെങ്കലം, ഇരുമ്പ്, വെളുത്തീയം, കറുത്തീയം മുതലായ
however the gold, and the silver, the bronze, the iron, the tin, and the lead,
23 തീയാൽ നശിക്കാത്ത മറ്റെന്തും തീയിലിട്ട് എടുക്കണം. അപ്പോൾ അവ ശുദ്ധമാകും. എന്നാൽ അവ ശുദ്ധീകരണജലത്താലും ശുദ്ധമാക്കപ്പെടണം. അഗ്നിയെ അതിജീവിക്കാൻ കഴിയാത്ത വസ്തു ഒക്കെയും ആ ജലത്തിലിട്ട് എടുക്കണം.
everything that may withstand the fire, you shall make to go through the fire, and it shall be clean; nevertheless it shall be cleansed from sin ·err (the standard goal)· with the water for impurity. All that does not withstand the fire you shall make to go through the water.
24 ഏഴാംദിവസം നിങ്ങളുടെ വസ്ത്രം കഴുകണം; അപ്പോൾ നിങ്ങൾ ശുദ്ധരാകും. പിന്നെ നിങ്ങൾക്കു പാളയത്തിലേക്ക് വരാം.”
You shall wash your clothes on the seventh day, and you shall be clean. Afterward you shall come into the camp.”
25 യഹോവ മോശയോടു കൽപ്പിച്ചു:
Adonai spoke to Moses [Drawn out], saying,
26 “നീയും പുരോഹിതനായ എലെയാസാരും സഭയിലെ പിതൃഭവനത്തലവന്മാരുംകൂടി യുദ്ധത്തിൽ പിടിച്ചെടുത്ത സകലമനുഷ്യരെയും മൃഗങ്ങളെയും എണ്ണണം.
“Count the plunder that was taken, both of man and of animal, you, and Eleazar [Help of God] the priest, and the heads of the fathers’ households of the congregation;
27 യുദ്ധത്തിൽ പങ്കെടുത്ത പടയാളികൾക്കും സമൂഹത്തിലെ മറ്റുള്ളവർക്കുമായി കൊള്ളമുതൽ തുല്യ രണ്ടോഹരിയായി പങ്കിടണം.
and divide the plunder into two parts: between the men skilled in war, who went out to battle, and all the congregation.
28 യുദ്ധത്തിൽ പങ്കെടുത്ത പടയാളികളുടേതിൽനിന്ന് യുദ്ധത്തടവുകാരോ കന്നുകാലികളോ കഴുതകളോ ചെമ്മരിയാടോ കോലാടോ ഏതുമാകട്ടെ, അഞ്ഞൂറിലൊന്നുവീതം യഹോവയ്ക്കായി വേർതിരിക്കണം.
Levy a tribute to Adonai of the men of war who went out to battle: one soul of five hundred; of the persons, of the cattle, of the donkeys, and of the flocks.
29 അതു പടയാളികളുടെ ഓഹരിയിൽനിന്ന് പകുതി യഹോവയ്ക്കു വിശിഷ്ടയാഗാർപ്പണമായി പുരോഹിതനായ എലെയാസാരിനു കൊടുക്കുക.
Take it from their half, and give it to Eleazar [Help of God] the priest, for Adonai’s wave offering.
30 ഇസ്രായേല്യരുടെ ഓഹരിയിൽനിന്നു പകുതി യുദ്ധത്തടവുകാരോ കന്നുകാലികളോ കഴുതകളോ ചെമ്മരിയാടോ കോലാടോ മറ്റ് ഏതുമൃഗമോ ആകട്ടെ അൻപതിന് ഒന്നുവീതം തെരഞ്ഞെടുക്കുക. അവയെ യഹോവയുടെ സമാഗമകൂടാരത്തിൽ ശുശ്രൂഷിക്കുന്ന ലേവ്യർക്കു കൊടുക്കുക.”
Of the children of Israel [God prevails]’s half, you shall take one drawn out of every fifty, of the persons, of the cattle, of the donkeys, and of the flocks, of all the livestock, and give them to the Levites [Descendants of United with], who perform the duty of Adonai’s tabernacle.”
31 അങ്ങനെ മോശയും പുരോഹിതനായ എലെയാസാരും യഹോവ മോശയോടു കൽപ്പിച്ചതുപോലെ ചെയ്തു.
Moses [Drawn out] and Eleazar [Help of God] the priest did as Adonai enjoined Moses [Drawn out].
32 പടയാളികൾ എടുത്ത കവർച്ചയ്ക്കുപുറമേ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്ന കൊള്ളമുതൽ 6,75,000 ചെമ്മരിയാട്,
Now the plunder, over and above the booty which the men of war took, was six hundred seventy-five thousand sheep,
33 72,000 കന്നുകാലി,
and seventy-two thousand head of cattle,
34 61,000 കഴുത,
and sixty-one thousand donkeys,
35 പുരുഷനുമായി ഒരിക്കലും കിടക്കപങ്കിട്ടിട്ടില്ലാത്തവരായ 32,000 സ്ത്രീകൾ ഇവയായിരുന്നു.
and thirty-two thousand persons in all, of the women who had not known man by lying with him.
36 യുദ്ധത്തിൽ പങ്കെടുത്തവർക്കുള്ള ഓഹരി—കൊള്ളമുതലിന്റെ പകുതി—ഇവയായിരുന്നു: 3,37,500 ചെമ്മരിയാട്,
The half, which was the portion of those who went out to war, was in number three hundred thirty-seven thousand five hundred sheep:
37 അതിൽ യഹോവയ്ക്കുള്ള വിഹിതം 675 ആയിരുന്നു;
and Adonai’s tribute of the sheep was six hundred seventy-five.
38 36,000 കന്നുകാലി, അതിൽ യഹോവയ്ക്കുള്ള വിഹിതം 72 ആയിരുന്നു;
The cattle were thirty-six thousand; of which Adonai’s tribute was seventy-two.
39 30,500 കഴുത, അതിൽ യഹോവയ്ക്കുള്ള വിഹിതം 61 ആയിരുന്നു;
The donkeys were thirty thousand five hundred; of which Adonai’s tribute was sixty-one.
40 16,000 ജനങ്ങൾ, അതിൽ യഹോവയ്ക്കുള്ള വിഹിതം 32 ആയിരുന്നു.
The persons were sixteen thousand; of whom Adonai’s tribute was thirty-two persons.
41 യഹോവ മോശയോടു കൽപ്പിച്ചതുപോലെ മോശ ആ വിഹിതം യഹോവയുടെ ഭാഗമായി പുരോഹിതനായ എലെയാസാരിനു കൊടുത്തു.
Moses [Drawn out] gave the tribute, which was Adonai’s wave offering, to Eleazar [Help of God] the priest, as Adonai enjoined Moses [Drawn out].
42 പോരാളികൾക്കുള്ളതിൽനിന്ന് മോശ വേർതിരിച്ച, പകുതി കൊള്ളമുതലിൽ, ഇസ്രായേല്യരുടെ ഓഹരി
Of the children of Israel [God prevails]’s half, which Moses [Drawn out] divided off from the men who fought
43 3,37,500 ചെമ്മരിയാട്,
(now the congregation’s half was three hundred thirty-seven thousand five hundred sheep,
44 36,000 കന്നുകാലി,
and thirty-six thousand head of cattle,
45 30,500 കഴുത,
and thirty thousand five hundred donkeys,
46 16,000 ജനങ്ങൾ എന്നിവയായിരുന്നു.
and sixteen thousand persons),

even of the children of Israel [God prevails]’s half, Moses [Drawn out] took one drawn out of every fifty, both of man and of animal, and gave them to the Levites [Descendants of United with], who performed the duty of Adonai’s tabernacle; as Adonai enjoined Moses [Drawn out].
48 ഇതിനുശേഷം സൈന്യവിഭാഗങ്ങളുടെമേൽ നിയമിക്കപ്പെട്ടിരുന്ന സഹസ്രാധിപന്മാരും ശതാധിപന്മാരുമായ സൈന്യാധിപന്മാർ മോശയുടെ അടുക്കൽ ചെന്ന്
The officers who were over the thousands of the army, the captains of thousands, and the captains of hundreds, came near to Moses [Drawn out].
49 അദ്ദേഹത്തോടു പറഞ്ഞു: “അങ്ങയുടെ ആജ്ഞാനുസരണം അങ്ങയുടെ ദാസന്മാർ പടയാളികളെ എണ്ണി. ഒരുവൻപോലും നഷ്ടപ്പെട്ടിട്ടില്ല.
They said to Moses [Drawn out], “Your servants have taken the sum of the men of war who are under our charge, and there lacks not one man of us.
50 അതുകൊണ്ട് ഞങ്ങൾക്കുവേണ്ടി യഹോവയുടെമുമ്പാകെ പ്രായശ്ചിത്തം ചെയ്യാൻ ഞങ്ങൾക്ക് ഓരോരുത്തർക്കും ലഭിച്ച സ്വർണ ഉരുപ്പടികളായ തോൾവള, കൈവള, മോതിരം, കുണുക്ക്, മാല എന്നിവ യഹോവയ്ക്ക് ഒരു കാഴ്ചയായിക്കൊണ്ടുവന്നിരിക്കുന്നു.”
We have brought Adonai’s offering, what every man has gotten, of jewels of gold, armlets, and bracelets, signet rings, earrings, and necklaces, to make atonement for our souls before Adonai.”
51 മോശയും പുരോഹിതനായ എലെയാസാരും അവരിൽനിന്ന് കൈപ്പണിയായി നിർമിച്ച ആ സ്വർണ ഉരുപ്പടികൾ സ്വീകരിച്ചു.
Moses [Drawn out] and Eleazar [Help of God] the priest took their gold, even all worked jewels.
52 സഹസ്രാധിപന്മാരിലും ശതാധിപന്മാരിലുംനിന്ന് അവർ യഹോവയ്ക്കു കാഴ്ചയായി അർപ്പിച്ച സ്വർണം ആകെ 16,750 ശേക്കേൽ ആയിരുന്നു.
All the gold of the wave offering that they offered up to Adonai, of the captains of thousands, and of the captains of hundreds, was sixteen thousand seven hundred fifty shekels [418.75 lb; 189.95 kg].
53 ഓരോ പടയാളിയും തനിക്കുവേണ്ടി കൊള്ളമുതൽ എടുത്തിരുന്നു.
The men of war had taken booty, every man for himself.
54 മോശയും പുരോഹിതനായ എലെയാസാരും സഹസ്രാധിപന്മാരിൽനിന്നും ശതാധിപന്മാരിൽനിന്നും സ്വർണം സ്വീകരിച്ച് യഹോവയുടെമുമ്പാകെ ഇസ്രായേല്യർക്ക് ഒരു സ്മാരകമായി സമാഗമകൂടാരത്തിൽ കൊണ്ടുവന്നു.
Moses [Drawn out] and Eleazar [Help of God] the priest took the gold of the captains of thousands and of hundreds, and brought it into the Tent of Meeting, for a memorial for the children of Israel [God prevails] before Adonai.
