1 യോസേഫിന്റെ മകനായ മനശ്ശെയുടെ കുടുംബങ്ങളിൽ മനശ്ശെയുടെ മകനായ മാഖീരിന്റെ മകനായ ഗിലെയാദിന്റെ മകനായ ഹേഫെരിന്റെ മകനായ സെലോഫഹാദിന്റെ പുത്രിമാർ, മഹ്ലാ, നോവാ, ഹൊഗ്ലാ, മിൽക്കാ, തിർസാ എന്നിവർ ആയിരുന്നു.
The daughters of Zelophehad came to present their case. Their father Zelophehad was the son of Hepher, son of Gilead, son of Machir, son of Manasseh, and was from the tribe of Manasseh, son of Joseph. The names of his daughters were Mahlah, Noah, Hoglah, Milcah, and Tirzah. They came
2 അവർ സമാഗമകൂടാരത്തിന്റെ കവാടത്തിൽ വന്ന്, മോശ, പുരോഹിതനായ എലെയാസാർ, പ്രഭുക്കന്മാർ എന്നിവരുടെയും സർവസഭയുടെയും മുമ്പാകെ നിന്ന് പറഞ്ഞു:
and stood before Moses, Eleazar the priest, the leaders, and all the Israelites at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting. They said,
3 “ഞങ്ങളുടെ പിതാവ് മരുഭൂമിയിൽവെച്ച് മരിച്ചു. യഹോവയ്ക്കെതിരേ മത്സരിച്ച കോരഹിന്റെ അനുയായികളുടെ കൂട്ടത്തിൽ അദ്ദേഹം ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നില്ല. അദ്ദേഹം സ്വന്തപാപത്തിലാണ് മരിച്ചത്. അദ്ദേഹത്തിനു പുത്രന്മാർ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നില്ല.
“Our father died in the desert, but he wasn't one of Korah's followers who joined together to rebel against the Lord. No, he died from his own sins, and he didn't have any sons.
4 ഞങ്ങളുടെ പിതാവിനു പുത്രന്മാർ ഇല്ലാതിരുന്നതിനാൽ അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ പേര് തന്റെ കുടുംബത്തിൽനിന്നും നീക്കപ്പെടുന്നതെന്തിന്? ഞങ്ങൾക്ക് ഞങ്ങളുടെ പിതാവിന്റെ ബന്ധുക്കളുടെ ഇടയിൽ ഒരവകാശം തരണം.”
Why should our family name be lost simply because he didn't have a son? Give us land to own alongside our uncles.”
5 അങ്ങനെ മോശ അവരുടെ കാര്യം യഹോവയുടെമുമ്പാകെ കൊണ്ടുവന്നു.
Moses took their case before the Lord.
6 യഹോവ മോശയോട് അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു:
The Lord gave him this answer,
7 “സെലോഫഹാദിന്റെ പുത്രിമാർ പറയുന്ന കാര്യം ശരിയാണ്. നീ നിശ്ചയമായും അവർക്ക് അവരുടെ പിതാവിന്റെ ബന്ധുക്കളുടെ ഇടയിൽ ഒരവകാശം നൽകണം. അവരുടെ പിതാവിന്റെ ഓഹരി അവർക്കു നൽകണം.
“What the daughters of Zelophehad are saying is right. You really must give them land to own alongside their uncles—give to them what would have been allocated to their father.
8 “ഇസ്രായേല്യരോടു പറയുക: ‘ഒരു മനുഷ്യൻ മരിക്കുകയും തനിക്കു പുത്രന്മാരില്ലാതിരിക്കുകയും ചെയ്താൽ അയാളുടെ ഓഹരി പുത്രിമാർക്കു കൊടുക്കണം.
In addition, tell the Israelites, ‘If a man dies and doesn't have a no son, give his property to his daughter.
9 അവനു പുത്രിമാരില്ലെങ്കിൽ അവന്റെ ഓഹരി തന്റെ സഹോദരന്മാർക്കു കൊടുക്കണം.
If he doesn't have a daughter, give his property to his brothers.
10 അവനു സഹോദരന്മാരില്ലെങ്കിൽ അവന്റെ ഓഹരി തന്റെ പിതൃസഹോദരന്മാർക്കു കൊടുക്കണം.
If he doesn't have brothers, give his property to his father's brothers.
11 അവന്റെ പിതാവിന് സഹോദരന്മാരില്ലെങ്കിൽ അവന്റെ ഓഹരി തന്റെ കുടുംബത്തിലെ അടുത്ത ബന്ധുവിനു കൊടുക്കണം. ഇതു യഹോവ മോശയോടു കൽപ്പിച്ചതുപോലെ ഇസ്രായേൽമക്കൾക്ക് ഒരു നിയമവും ചട്ടവുമായിരിക്കണം.’”
If his father doesn't have brothers, give his property his family's next of kin so that they can own it. This is a legal regulation for the Israelites, given as an order by the Lord to Moses.’”
12 ഇതിനുശേഷം യഹോവ മോശയോട്, “അബാരീംനിരയിലുള്ള ഈ പർവതത്തിൽ കയറി ഞാൻ ഇസ്രായേല്യർക്കു കൊടുത്തിരിക്കുന്ന ദേശം കാണുക.
The Lord told Moses, “Go up into the Abarim mountains so you can see the land that I have given the Israelites.
13 നീ അതു കണ്ടശേഷം നീയും നിന്റെ സഹോദരനായ അഹരോനെപ്പോലെ നിന്റെ ജനത്തോടു ചേർക്കപ്പെടും.
After you have seen it, you will also join your forefathers in death, just as your brother Aaron did,
14 സീൻ മരുഭൂമിയിൽവെച്ച് വെള്ളത്തിന്റെ കാര്യത്തിൽ എന്നെ വിശുദ്ധീകരിക്കാനുള്ള എന്റെ കൽപ്പനയോടു നിങ്ങൾ മത്സരിച്ചതുകൊണ്ടുതന്നെ” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. സീൻമരുഭൂമിയിൽ കാദേശിലെ മെരീബാജലാശയം ഇതുതന്നെ.
because when the Israelites complained in the Desert of Zin, you both rebelled against my instructions to show my holiness before them in regard to providing water.” (These were the waters of Meribah in Kadesh, in the Desert of Zin.)
15 മോശ യഹോവയോട്,
Then Moses pleaded with the Lord,
16 “യഹോവയുടെ ജനം ഇടയനില്ലാത്ത ആടുകളെപ്പോലെ ആകാതിരിക്കാൻ, അവർക്കുമുമ്പാകെ പോകാനും വരാനും പുറത്തുകൊണ്ടുപോകാനും അകത്തുകൊണ്ടുവരാനും സകലജഡത്തിന്റെയും ആത്മാക്കളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവേ, ഈ സഭയുടെമേൽ ഒരു മനുഷ്യനെ നിയമിച്ചാലും” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
“May the Lord, the God who gives life to all living beings, choose a man to lead the Israelites
who will tell them what to do and show them where to go, so that the people of the Lord won't be like sheep without a shepherd.”
18 അതുകൊണ്ട് യഹോവ മോശയോട്: “നൂന്റെ മകനും, എന്റെ ആത്മാവുള്ള പുരുഷനുമായ യോശുവയെ വിളിച്ച് നിന്റെ കൈ അവന്റെമേൽ വെക്കുക.
The Lord told Moses, “Call for Joshua, son of Nun, a man who has the Spirit in him, and place your hands on him.
19 അവനെ പുരോഹിതനായ എലെയാസാരിന്റെയും സർവസഭയുടെയും മുമ്പാകെ നിർത്തി അവരുടെ സാന്നിധ്യത്തിൽ അവനെ അധികാരം ഏൽപ്പിക്കുക.
Make him stand in front of Eleazar the priest and all the Israelites, and dedicate him while they watch.
20 നിന്റെ അധികാരത്തിൽ കുറെ അവനു കൊടുക്കുക. അങ്ങനെ ഇസ്രായേൽമക്കളുടെ സഭമുഴുവനും അവനെ അനുസരിക്കും.
Hand over some of your authority to him so that all the Israelites will obey him.
21 അവൻ പുരോഹിതനായ എലെയാസാരിന്റെ മുമ്പാകെ നിൽക്കണം. യഹോവയുടെമുമ്പാകെ ഊറീം മുഖാന്തരം അരുളപ്പാടു ചോദിക്കുന്നതിലൂടെ അദ്ദേഹം അവനുവേണ്ടിയുള്ള തീരുമാനങ്ങൾ അറിയും. അവന്റെ കൽപ്പനയിങ്കൽ അയാളും ഇസ്രായേല്യരുടെ സർവസമൂഹവും പുറത്തുപോകുകയും അയാളുടെ കൽപ്പനയിങ്കൽ അവർ അകത്തുവരികയും ചെയ്യും.”
When he needs instructions he is to go before Eleazar the priest who will ask the Lord on his behalf and find out the decision using the Urim. Joshua will give orders to all the Israelites concerning everything they are to do.”
22 യഹോവ തന്നോടു കൽപ്പിച്ചതുപോലെ മോശ ചെയ്തു. അദ്ദേഹം യോശുവയെ കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ട് പുരോഹിതനായ എലെയാസാരിന്റെയും സർവസഭയുടെയും മുമ്പാകെ നിർത്തി.
Moses followed the Lord's instructions. He had Joshua come and stand in front of Eleazar the priest and all the Israelites.
23 യഹോവ മോശയോടു നിർദേശിച്ചപ്രകാരം അവന്റെമേൽ കൈവെച്ച് ജനത്തെ നയിക്കാനുള്ള അധികാരം ഏൽപ്പിച്ചു.
Moses placed his hands on Joshua and dedicated him, just as the Lord had told him to do.
