1 ബാധയ്ക്കുശേഷം യഹോവ മോശയോടും പുരോഹിതനായ അഹരോന്റെ പുത്രൻ എലെയാസാരിനോടും കൽപ്പിച്ചു:

And it came to pass after the plague, That the Lord spoke unto Moses and unto Elazar the son of Aaron the priest, saying,

2 “ഇരുപതു വയസ്സുമുതൽ മേലോട്ടു പ്രായമുള്ളവരും യുദ്ധപ്രാപ്തരുമായി ഇസ്രായേൽസമൂഹത്തിലാകെ ഉള്ളവരുടെ ജനസംഖ്യ പിതൃഭവനം തിരിച്ച് കണക്കാക്കുക.”

Take ye the sum of all the congregation of the children of Israel, from twenty years old and upward, by the descent from their fathers, all that are able to go forth to war in Israel.

3 യെരീഹോവിനെതിരേ യോർദാൻനദിക്കരികെയുള്ള മോവാബിന്റെ സമതലത്തിൽവെച്ച് മോശയും പുരോഹിതനായ എലെയാസാരും അവരോട് ഇപ്രകാരം പറഞ്ഞു:

And Moses with El'azar the priest spoke with them in the plains of Moab by the Jordan opposite Jericho, saying,

4 “യഹോവ മോശയോടു കൽപ്പിച്ചതുപോലെ ഇരുപതു വയസ്സുമുതൽ മേലോട്ട് പ്രായമുള്ള പുരുഷന്മാരുടെ ജനസംഖ്യയെടുക്കുക.” ഈജിപ്റ്റിൽനിന്നും പുറപ്പെട്ട ഇസ്രായേല്യർ ഇവരായിരുന്നു:

[Take the sum of the people, ] from twenty years old and upward; as the Lord commanded Moses and the children of Israel, who went forth out of the land of Egypt.

Of Chezron, the family of the Chezronites; of Carmi, the family of the Carmites.

7 ഇവയായിരുന്നു രൂബേന്യകുടുംബങ്ങൾ; അതിൽ എണ്ണപ്പെട്ടവർ 43,730 ആയിരുന്നു.

These are the families of the Reubenites; and those that were numbered of them were forty and three thousand and seven hundred and thirty.

8 ഫല്ലൂവിന്റെ പുത്രൻ എലീയാബ്.

And the sons of Pallu: Eliab.

9 എലീയാബിന്റെ പുത്രന്മാർ നെമൂവേലും ദാഥാനും അബീരാമും ആയിരുന്നു. മോശയ്ക്കും അഹരോനും എതിരേ മത്സരിച്ചവരും യഹോവയ്ക്കെതിരേ മത്സരിച്ചപ്പോൾ കോരഹിന്റെ അനുയായികളുടെ കൂട്ടത്തിലുണ്ടായിരുന്ന ഇസ്രായേല്യപ്രഭുക്കന്മാരായ ദാഥാനും അബീരാമും ഇവർതന്നെ.

And the sons of Eliab: Nemuel, and Dathan, and Abiram. These are Dathan and Abiram, men called to the assembly, who quarreled against Moses and against Aaron in the company of Korach, at the time they quarreled against the Lord;

10 ഭൂമി വായ്‌പിളർന്ന് കോരഹിനോടുകൂടെ അവരെ വിഴുങ്ങിക്കളഞ്ഞു. ഇരുനൂറ്റി അൻപത് പുരുഷന്മാർ അഗ്നിക്കിരയായ അവസരത്തിൽ അയാളുടെ അനുയായികൾ മരിച്ചു. അങ്ങനെ അവർ മുന്നറിയിപ്പിനുള്ള ഒരു ചിഹ്നമായിത്തീർന്നു.

When the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed them up together with Korach, while that company died, when the fire devoured the two hundred and fifty men; and they became a sign.

But the sons of Korach did not die.

The sons of Simeon after their families: of Nemuel, the family of the Nemuelites; of Yamin, the family of the Yaminites; of Yachin, the family of the Yachinites;

13 സേരഹിലൂടെ സേരഹ്യകുടുംബം; ശാവൂലിലൂടെ ശാവൂല്യകുടുംബം.

Of Zerach, the family of the Zarchites; of Shaul, the family of the Shaulites.

14 ഇവയായിരുന്നു ശിമെയോന്യകുടുംബങ്ങൾ; അതിൽ എണ്ണപ്പെട്ടവർ 22,200 പുരുഷന്മാർ ആയിരുന്നു.

These are the families of the Simeonites, twenty and two thousand and two hundred.

The children of Gad after their families: of Zephon, the family of the Zephonites; of Chaggi, the family of the Chaggites; of Shuni, the family of the Shunites;

16 ഒസ്നിയിലൂടെ ഒസ്നീയകുടുംബം; ഏരിയിലൂടെ ഏര്യകുടുംബം;

Of Ozni, the family of the Oznites; of 'Eri, the family of the 'Erites;

Of Arod, the family of the Arodites; of Areli, the family of the Arelites;

These are the families of the children of Gad according to those that were numbered of them, forty thousand and five hundred.

The sons of Judah were 'Er and Onan; and 'Er with Onan died in the land of Canaan.

And the sons of Judah after their families were: of Shelah, the family of the Shelanites; of Perez, the family of the Parzites; of Zerach, the family of the Zarchites.

And the sons of Perez were: of Chezron, the family of the Chezronites; of Chamul, the family of the Chamulites.

These are the families of Judah, according to those that were numbered of them, seventy and six thousand and five hundred.

The sons of Issachar after their families: of Tola', the family of the Tola'ites; of Puva, the family of the Punites;

Of Yashub, the family of the Yashubites; of Shimron, the family of the Shimronites.

These are the families of Issachar according to those that were numbered of them, sixty and four thousand and three hundred.

The sons of Zebulun after their families: of Sered, the family of the Sardites; of Elon, the family of the Elonites; of Yachleel, the family of the Yachleelites.

These are the families of the Zebulonites according to those that were numbered of them, sixty thousand and five hundred.

28 മനശ്ശെ, എഫ്രയീം എന്നിവരിലൂടെ യോസേഫിന്റെ പിതൃഭവനത്തിൽനിന്നുള്ള സന്തതികൾ:

The sons of Joseph after their families are Menasseh and Ephraim.

29 മനശ്ശെയുടെ സന്തതികൾ: മാഖീരിലൂടെ മാഖീര്യകുടുംബം; മാഖീർ ഗിലെയാദിന്റെ പിതാവായിരുന്നു; ഗിലെയാദിലൂടെ ഗിലെയാദ്യകുടുംബം;

The sons of Menasseh: of Machir, the family of the Machirites; and Machir begat Gil'ad; of Gil'ad, the family of the Gil'adites.

30 ഗിലെയാദിന്റെ സന്തതികൾ: ഈയേസെരിലൂടെ ഈയേസെര്യകുടുംബം: ഹേലെക്കിലൂടെ ഹേലെക്ക്യകുടുംബം;

These are the sons of Gil'ad: of I'ezer, the family of the I'ezerites; of Chelek, the family of the Chelkites;

31 അസ്രീയേലിലൂടെ അസ്രീയേല്യകുടുംബം; ശേഖേമിലൂടെ ശേഖേമ്യകുടുംബം;

And of Assriel, the family of the Assrielites; and of Shechem, the family of the Shichmites;

32 ശെമീദാവിലൂടെ ശെമീദാവ്യകുടുംബം; ഹേഫെരിലൂടെ ഹേഫെര്യകുടുംബം.

And of Shemida', the family of the Shemida'ites; and of Chepher, the family of the Chephrites.

33 ഹേഫെരിന്റെ പുത്രൻ സെലോഫഹാദിനു പുത്രന്മാരില്ലായിരുന്നു; അദ്ദേഹത്തിനു പുത്രിമാർമാത്രമേ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നുള്ളൂ. അവരുടെ പേരുകൾ: മഹ്ലാ, നോവാ, ഹൊഗ്ലാ, മിൽക്കാ, തിർസാ എന്നിവരായിരുന്നു.

And Zelophehad the son of Chepher had no sons, but only daughters; and the names of the daughters of Zelophehad were Machlah, and No'ah, Choglah, Milcah, and Tirzah.

34 മനശ്ശെയുടെ കുടുംബങ്ങൾ ഇവയായിരുന്നു; അതിൽ എണ്ണപ്പെട്ടവർ 52,700 ആയിരുന്നു.

These are the families of Menasseh; and those that were numbered of them were fifty and two thousand and seven hundred.

35 എഫ്രയീമിന്റെ പിതൃഭവനത്തിൽനിന്നുള്ള സന്തതികൾ: ശൂഥേലഹിലൂടെ ശൂഥേലഹ്യകുടുംബം; ബേഖെരിലൂടെ ബേഖെര്യകുടുംബം; തഹനിലൂടെ തഹന്യകടുംബം,

These are the sons of Ephraim after their families: of Shuthelach, the family of the Shuthalchites; of Becher, the family of the Bachrites; of Tachan, the family of the Tachanites.

36 ശൂഥേലഹിന്റെ സന്തതികൾ: ഏരാനിലൂടെ ഏരാന്യകുടുംബം.

And these are the sons of Shuthelach: of 'Eran, the family of the Eranites.

37 എഫ്രയീമിന്റെ കുടുംബങ്ങൾ ഇവയായിരുന്നു. അതിൽ എണ്ണപ്പെട്ടവർ 32,500 ആയിരുന്നു. ഇവയായിരുന്നു യോസേഫിന്റെ പിതൃഭവനത്തിൽനിന്നുള്ള സന്തതികൾ.

These are the families of the sons of Ephraim according to those that were numbered of them, thirty and two thousand and five hundred: these are the sons of Joseph after their families.

38 ബെന്യാമീന്റെ പിതൃഭവനത്തിൽനിന്നുള്ള സന്തതികൾ: ബേലയിലൂടെ ബേലാവ്യകുടുംബം; അശ്ബേലിലൂടെ അശ്ബേല്യകുടുംബം; അഹീരാമിലൂടെ അഹീരാമ്യകുടുംബം;

The sons of Benjamin after their families: of Bela', the family of the Bal'ites; of Ashbel, the family of the Ashbelites; of Achiram, the family of the Achiramites;

39 ശൂപാമിലൂടെ ശൂപാമ്യകുടുംബം; ഹൂഫാമിലൂടെ ഹൂഫാമ്യകുടുംബം.

Of Shephupham, the family of the Shuphamites; of Chupham, the family of the Chuphamites.

40 ആരെദ്, നയമാൻ എന്നിവരിലൂടെയുള്ള ബേലിയുടെ സന്തതികൾ: അർദിലൂടെ അർദ്യകുടുംബം. നാമാനിലൂടെ നാമാന്യകുടുംബം

And the sons of Bela' were Ard and Na'aman: of Ard, the family of the Ardites; and of Na'aman, the family of the Na'amites.

41 ബെന്യാമീന്റെ കുടുംബങ്ങൾ ഇവയായിരുന്നു; അവരിൽ എണ്ണപ്പെട്ടവർ 45,600 ആയിരുന്നു.

These are the sons of Benjamin after their families; and those that were numbered of them were forty and five thousand and six hundred.

42 ദാന്റെ പിതൃഭവനത്തിൽനിന്നുള്ള സന്തതികൾ: ശൂഹാമിലൂടെ ശൂഹാമ്യകുടുംബം. ദാന്റെ കുടുംബങ്ങൾ ഇവയായിരുന്നു;

These are the sons of Dan after their families: of Shucham, the family of the Shuchamites; these are the families of Dan after their families.

43 അവയെല്ലാം ശൂഹാമ്യകുടുംബങ്ങളായിരുന്നു; അവരിൽ എണ്ണപ്പെട്ടവർ 64,400 ആയിരുന്നു.

All the families of the Shuchamites, according to those that were numbered of them, were sixty and four thousand and four hundred.

44 ആശേരിന്റെ പിതൃഭവനത്തിൽനിന്നുള്ള സന്തതികൾ: യിമ്നായിലൂടെ യിമ്നീയകുടുംബം; യിശ്വിയിലൂടെ യിശ്വീയകുടുംബം; ബേരീയാവിലൂടെ ബേരീയാവ്യകുടുംബം;

The children of Asher after their families: of Yimnah, the family of the Yimnites; of Yishvi, the family of the Yishvites; of Beri'ah, the family of the Beri'ites.

45 ബേരീയാവിന്റെ സന്തതികളിലൂടെ: ഹേബെരിലൂടെ ഹേബെര്യകുടുംബം; മൽക്കീയേലിലൂടെ മൽക്കീയേല്യകുടുംബം.

Of the sons of Beri'ah: of Cheber, the family of the Chebrites; of Malkiel, the family of the Makielites.

And the name of the daughter of Asher was Serach.

These are the families of the sons of Asher according to those that were numbered of them, fifty and three thousand and four hundred.

48 നഫ്താലിയുടെ പിതൃഭവനത്തിൽനിന്നുള്ള സന്തതികൾ: യഹ്സേലിലൂടെ യഹ്സേല്യകുടുംബം; ഗൂനിയിലൂടെ ഗൂന്യകുടുംബം;

The sons of Naphtali after their families: of Yachzeel, the family of the Yachzeelites; of Guni, the family of the Gunites;

49 യെസെരിലൂടെ യെസെര്യകടുംബം; ശില്ലേമിലൂടെ ശില്ലേമ്യകുടുംബം.

Of Yezer, the family of the Yizrites; of Shillem, the family of the Shillemites.

50 ഇവയായിരുന്നു നഫ്താലിയുടെ കുടുംബങ്ങൾ; അതിൽ എണ്ണപ്പെട്ടവർ 45,400 ആയിരുന്നു.

These are the families of Naphtali according to their families; and those that were numbered of them were forty and five thousand and four hundred.

51 ഇസ്രായേലിലെ പുരുഷന്മാരുടെ ആകെ എണ്ണം 6,01,730 ആയിരുന്നു.

These were the numbered of the children of Israel, six hundred thousand, and one thousand, seven hundred and thirty.

52 യഹോവ മോശയോട്,

And the Lord spoke unto Moses, saying,

53 “ആളെണ്ണത്തിനൊത്തവണ്ണം ദേശം അവർക്ക് അവകാശമായി വിഭജിച്ചു കൊടുക്കണം.

Unto these shall the land be divided for an inheritance according to the number of the names.

54 വലിയ കൂട്ടത്തിനു കൂടുതലും ചെറിയ കൂട്ടത്തിനു കുറവുമായി ഓഹരി കൊടുക്കുക. പട്ടികയിൽ പേരു ചേർക്കപ്പെട്ടവരുടെ എണ്ണത്തിനൊത്തവണ്ണം ഓരോരുത്തർക്കും അവരവരുടെ ഓഹരി ലഭിക്കണം.

To the large tribe shalt thou give the more inheritance, and to the small shalt thou give the less inheritance: to each according to those that were numbered thereof shall its inheritance be given.

55 നറുക്കിട്ടുവേണം ദേശം വിഭജിക്കേണ്ടത്. പിതൃഗോത്രത്തിന്റെ പേരിൻപ്രകാരമായിരിക്കണം ഓരോ കൂട്ടത്തിനും ഓഹരി ലഭിക്കേണ്ടത്.

Nevertheless, through the lot shall the land be divided: according to the names of the tribes of their fathers shall they obtain their inheritance.

56 വലിയ കൂട്ടങ്ങൾക്കും ചെറിയ കൂട്ടങ്ങൾക്കും നറുക്കിലൂടെയാണ് ഓഹരി വിഭജിച്ചുകൊടുക്കേണ്ടത്.”

By the decision of the lot shall the inheritance of each be divided, according as they are many or few.

57 പിതൃഭവനമായി എണ്ണപ്പെട്ട ലേവ്യർ ഇവരായിരുന്നു: ഗെർശോനിലൂടെ ഗെർശോന്യകുടുംബം; കെഹാത്തിലൂടെ കെഹാത്യകുടുംബം; മെരാരിയിലൂടെ മെരാര്യകുടുംബം.

And these are those that were numbered of the Levites after their families: of Gershon, the family of the Gershunites: of Kehath, the family of the Kehathites; of Merari, the family of the Merarites.

58 ഇവയും ലേവ്യകുടുംബങ്ങളായിരുന്നു: ലിബ്നീയകുടുംബം, ഹെബ്രോന്യകുടുംബം, മഹ്ലീയകുടുംബം, മൂശ്യകുടുംബം, കോരഹ്യകുടുംബം. അമ്രാമിന്റെ പിതാമഹനായിരുന്നു കെഹാത്ത്;

These are the families of Levi: the family of the Libnites, the family of the Chebronites, the family of the Machlites, the family of the Mushites, the family of the Korchites; and Kehath begat 'Amran.

59 അമ്രാമിന്റെ ഭാര്യയുടെ പേര് യോഖേബേദ് എന്നായിരുന്നു. അവൾ ഈജിപ്റ്റിൽവെച്ച് ലേവിക്കു ജനിച്ച മകൾ. അമ്രാമിന് അവൾ, അഹരോൻ, മോശ, അവരുടെ സഹോദരിയായ മിര്യാം എന്നിവരെ പ്രസവിച്ചു.

And the name of 'Amram's wife was Yochebed, the daughter of Levi, whom [her mother] bore to Levi in Egypt; and she bore unto Amram, Aaron and Moses, and Miriam their sister.

60 നാദാബ്, അബീഹൂ, എലെയാസാർ, ഈഥാമാർ എന്നിവരുടെ പിതാവായിരുന്നു അഹരോൻ.

And there were born unto Aaron, Nadab, and Abihu, Elazar, and Ithamar.

61 എന്നാൽ യഹോവയുടെമുമ്പാകെ അന്യാഗ്നി കത്തിച്ചതുകൊണ്ട് നാദാബും അബീഹൂവും മരിച്ചു.

And Nadab and Abihu died, when they offered a strange fire before the Lord.

62 ലേവ്യരിൽ ഒരുമാസമോ അതിലധികമോ പ്രായമായ ആണുങ്ങൾ 23,000 ആയിരുന്നു. മറ്റ് ഇസ്രായേല്യരോടൊപ്പം അവരെ എണ്ണിയില്ല; കാരണം അവരുടെ ഇടയിൽ അവർക്ക് യാതൊരവകാശവും ലഭിച്ചില്ല.

And those that were numbered of them were twenty and three thousand, all the males from a month old and upward; for they were not numbered among the children of Israel, because there was not given unto them any inheritance among the children of Israel.

63 യെരീഹോവിനെതിരേ യോർദാൻനദിക്കരികെയുള്ള മോവാബിന്റെ സമതലത്തിൽവെച്ച് മോശയും പുരോഹിതനായ എലെയാസാരും എണ്ണിയ ഇസ്രായേല്യർ ഇവരാണ്.

These are those that were numbered by Moses and Elazar the priest, who numbered the children of Israel in the plains of Moab by the Jordan, opposite Jericho.

64 മോശയും പുരോഹിതനായ അഹരോനുംകൂടി ഇസ്രായേൽമക്കളെ സീനായിമരുഭൂമിയിൽവെച്ച് എണ്ണിയപ്പോൾ എണ്ണപ്പെട്ടവരുടെ കൂട്ടത്തിൽ ഇവരിൽ ഒരാൾപോലും ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നില്ല.

And among these there was not one man of those whom Moses and Aaron the priest had numbered, who numbered the children of Israel in the wilderness of Sinai.

65 അവർ നിശ്ചയമായും മരുഭൂമിയിൽ മരിച്ചുപോകുമെന്ന് അവരെക്കുറിച്ച് യഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്തിരുന്നല്ലോ. അങ്ങനെ യെഫുന്നയുടെ മകൻ കാലേബും നൂന്റെ മകൻ യോശുവയും ഒഴികെ അവരിൽ ഒരാൾപോലും ശേഷിച്ചിരുന്നില്ല.

For the Lord had said of them, They shall surely die in the wilderness: and there was not left of them one man, save Caleb the son of Yephunneh, and Joshua the son of Nun.
