സംഖ്യാപുസ്തകം 24

1 എന്നാൽ, ഇസ്രായേലിനെ അനുഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നത് യഹോവയ്ക്കു പ്രസാദമായി എന്നു ബിലെയാം കണ്ടപ്പോൾ, മുമ്പു ചെയ്തതുപോലെ പ്രശ്നംവെക്കാൻ പോകാതെ മരുഭൂമിക്കുനേരേ തന്റെ മുഖം തിരിച്ചു.

And when Bil'am saw that it was pleasing in the eyes of the Lord to bless Israel, he went not, as at other times, to seek for enchantments, but he set his face toward the wilderness.

2 ഗോത്രംഗോത്രമായി ഇസ്രായേൽ പാളയമടിച്ചു പാർക്കുന്നത് ബിലെയാം നോക്കിക്കണ്ടപ്പോൾ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ ആത്മാവ് അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെമേൽ വന്നു,

And Bil'am lifted up his eyes, and when he saw Israel encamped according to their tribes, there came upon him the spirit of God.

3 അദ്ദേഹം തന്റെ അരുളപ്പാട് അറിയിച്ചു: “ബെയോരിന്റെ പുത്രൻ ബിലെയാമിന്റെ അരുളപ്പാട്, വ്യക്തമായിക്കാണുന്ന കണ്ണുള്ളവന്റെ അരുളപ്പാട്,

And he took up his parable, and said, Thus saith Bil'am the son of Beor, and thus saith the man whose eyes are open;

4 ദൈവത്തിന്റെ വചനങ്ങളെ കേൾക്കുന്നവന്റെ അരുളപ്പാട്, സർവശക്തനിൽനിന്ന് ദർശനം കാണുന്നവനും, സാഷ്ടാംഗം വീഴുന്നവനും കണ്ണുകൾ തുറക്കപ്പെട്ടവനുമായവന്റെ അരുളപ്പാട്:

Thus saith he who heareth the sayings of God, who seeth the vision of the Almighty, falling down, with unvailed eyes:

5 “യാക്കോബേ, നിന്റെ കൂടാരങ്ങൾ, ഇസ്രായേലേ, നിന്റെ നിവാസങ്ങൾ, എത്ര മനോഹരം!

How beautiful are thy tents, O Jacob, thy dwelling, O Israel!

6 “താഴ്വരപോലെ അവ പടർന്നുകിടക്കുന്നു. നദീതീരത്തെ ഉദ്യാനങ്ങൾപോലെ, യഹോവ നട്ട ചന്ദനവൃക്ഷങ്ങൾപോലെ, ജലാന്തികേയുള്ള ദേവദാരുക്കൾപോലെതന്നെ.

As streams are they spread forth, as gardens by the river's side, as aloe-trees, which the Lord hath planted, as cedar-trees beside the waters.

7 അവരുടെ തൊട്ടികളിൽനിന്ന് വെള്ളം ഒഴുകും; അവരുടെ വിത്തിനു ജലസമൃദ്ധി ലഭിക്കും. “അവരുടെ രാജാവ് ആഗാഗിലും ശ്രേഷ്ഠനായിരിക്കും, അവരുടെ രാജ്യം ഉന്നതമാകും.

Water runneth out of His buckets, that his seed may be moistened by abundance of water; and exalted above Agag shall be his king, and raised on high shall be his kingdom.

8 “ദൈവം അവരെ ഈജിപ്റ്റിൽനിന്നും കൊണ്ടുവന്നു. കാട്ടുകാളയുടെ കരുത്ത് അവർക്കുണ്ട്. ശത്രുരാജ്യങ്ങളെ അവർ വിഴുങ്ങുന്നു. അവരുടെ അസ്ഥികളെ തകർക്കുന്നു; തങ്ങളുടെ അസ്ത്രങ്ങൾകൊണ്ട് അവരെ തുളയ്ക്കുന്നു.

God, who brought him forth out of Egypt, is to him like the heights of the reem; he will devour nations, his oppressors, and their bones will he break, and pierce [them] through with his arrows.

9 ഒരു സിംഹത്തെപ്പോലെ, ഒരു സിംഹിയെപ്പോലെ, അവർ പതുങ്ങിക്കിടക്കുന്നു. ആര് അവരെ ഉണർത്തും? “നിന്നെ അനുഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നവൻ അനുഗ്രഹിക്കപ്പെടട്ടെ, നിന്നെ ശപിക്കുന്നവൻ ശപിക്കപ്പെടട്ടെ!”

He coucheth, he lieth down as a lion, and as a lioness: who shall make him rise up? They that bless thee be blessed, and they that curse thee be cursed.

10 അപ്പോൾ ബിലെയാമിനെതിരേ ബാലാക്കിന്റെ കോപം ജ്വലിച്ചു. അദ്ദേഹം തന്റെ കൈകൾ അടിച്ചുകൊണ്ടു പറഞ്ഞു: “എന്റെ ശത്രുക്കളെ ശപിക്കാനാണു ഞാൻ താങ്കളെ വിളിച്ചുവരുത്തിയത്. എന്നാൽ താങ്കൾ അവരെ ഈ മൂന്നു തവണയും അനുഗ്രഹിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

And the anger of Balak was kindled against Bil'am, and he struck his hands together: and Balak said unto Bil'am, To denounce my enemies did I call thee, and, behold, thou hast even blessed them these three times.

11 നിന്റെ സ്ഥലത്തേക്കു നീ ഓടിപ്പോകുക. മാന്യമായ പ്രതിഫലം താങ്കൾക്കു തരാമെന്നു ഞാൻ പറഞ്ഞു. എന്നാൽ യഹോവ നിനക്കു പ്രതിഫലം മുടക്കിയിരിക്കുന്നു.”

And now flee thou to thy place: I thought to honor thee greatly; but, lo, the Lord hath kept thee back from honor.

12 ബിലെയാം ബാലാക്കിനോട് മറുപടി പറഞ്ഞു: “താങ്കൾ എന്റെയടുക്കൽ അയച്ച ദൂതന്മാരോട്,

And Bil'am said unto Balak, Did I not already speak to thy messengers, whom thou sentest unto me, saying,

13 ‘ബാലാക്ക് തന്റെ കൊട്ടാരം നിറയെ സ്വർണവും വെള്ളിയും എനിക്കു തരുന്നെങ്കിലും, യഹോവയുടെ കൽപ്പനയെ മറികടന്ന്, നന്മയോ തിന്മയോ ആകട്ടെ, സ്വമേധയാ യാതൊന്നും എനിക്കു ചെയ്തുകൂടാ; മാത്രമല്ല, യഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നതുമാത്രമേ ഞാൻ പറയുകയുള്ളൂ’ എന്നു ഞാൻ പറഞ്ഞിരുന്നില്ലേ?

If Balak would give me his house full of silver and gold, I could not transgress the order of the Lord, to do good or evil out of my own heart: what the Lord will speak, that must I speak?

14 ഇപ്പോൾ ഞാൻ എന്റെ ജനത്തിന്റെ അടുക്കലേക്കു മടങ്ങിപ്പോകുന്നു. എന്നാൽ വരിക, വരുംനാളുകളിൽ ഈ ജനം താങ്കളുടെ ജനങ്ങളോട് ചെയ്യാൻ പോകുന്നതെന്തെന്ന് ഞാൻ താങ്കളെ അറിയിക്കാം.”

And now, behold, I am going unto my people: come, I will advise thee against what this people will do to thy people in the end of days.

15 പിന്നെ ബിലെയാം തന്റെ അരുളപ്പാട് അറിയിച്ചു: “ബെയോരിന്റെ പുത്രൻ ബിലെയാമിന്റെ അരുളപ്പാട്, വ്യക്തമായിക്കാണുന്ന കണ്ണുള്ളവന്റെ അരുളപ്പാട്,

And he took up his parable and said, Thus saith Bil'am the son of Beor, and thus saith the man whose eyes are open;

16 ദൈവത്തിന്റെ വചനങ്ങളെ കേൾക്കുന്നവന്റെ അരുളപ്പാട്. പരമോന്നതനിൽനിന്ന് പരിജ്ഞാനം പ്രാപിച്ചവനും സർവശക്തനിൽനിന്ന് ദർശനം കാണുന്നവനും സാഷ്ടാംഗം വീഴുന്നവനും കണ്ണുകൾ തുറക്കപ്പെട്ടവനുമായവന്റെ അരുളപ്പാട്:

Thus saith he who heareth the sayings of God, and knoweth the knowledge of the Most High, who seeth the vision of the Almighty, falling down, with unvailed eyes:

17 “ഞാൻ അവിടത്തെ കാണുന്നു, എന്നാൽ ഇപ്പോഴല്ല; ഞാൻ അവിടത്തെ ദർശിക്കുന്നു, എന്നാൽ സമീപത്തല്ല. യാക്കോബിൽനിന്ന് ഒരു നക്ഷത്രം ഉദിക്കും, ഇസ്രായേലിൽനിന്ന് ഒരു ചെങ്കോൽ ഉയരും. മോവാബിന്റെ നെറ്റിത്തടം അവിടന്ന് തകർക്കും, ശേത്തിന്റെ സകലപുത്രന്മാരുടെയും തലയോട്ടികളെത്തന്നെ.

I see him, but not now; I behold him, but not nigh; there steppeth forth a star out of Jacob, and there ariseth a sceptre out of Israel, and he pierceth the chiefs of Moab, and destroyeth all the children of Sheth.

18 ഏദോം പിടിക്കപ്പെടും; സേയീരും അവന്റെ ശത്രുക്കളുടെ കൈവശമാക്കപ്പെടും, എന്നാൽ ഇസ്രായേലോ ശക്തിപ്പെടും,

And Edom shall be a conquest, and Seir shall be a conquest for his enemies; and Israel shall do valiantly.

19 യാക്കോബിൽനിന്ന് ഒരു ഭരണാധിപൻ വന്ന് നഗരങ്ങളിൽ ശേഷിച്ചവരെ നശിപ്പിക്കും.”

And there shall rule the one from Jacob, and he shall destroy whatever escapeth out of the city.

20 പിന്നെ ബിലെയാം അമാലേക്കിനെ നോക്കി തന്റെ അരുളപ്പാട് അറിയിച്ചു: “അമാലേക്ക് രാജ്യങ്ങളിൽ ഒന്നാമനായിരുന്നു. എന്നാൽ അവരുടെ അവസാനം പരിപൂർണനാശമായിരിക്കും.”

And he looked on Amalek, and he took up his parable, and said, The first of nations is Amalek; but his latter end shall be destruction for ever.

21 പിന്നെ അയാൾ കേന്യരെ നോക്കി തന്റെ അരുളപ്പാട് അറിയിച്ചു: “നിന്റെ വാസസ്ഥലം സുരക്ഷിതം; നിന്റെ കൂട് പാറയിൽ വെച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

And he looked on the Kenites, and took up his parable, and said, Strong is thy dwelling-place, and placed on the rock is thy nest.

22 അശ്ശൂർ നിന്നെ ബന്ദിയായി കൊണ്ടുപോകുമ്പോൾ കേന്യരായ നിങ്ങൾ നശിക്കും.”

Nevertheless the Kenite shall be wasted: whither will Asshur carry thee away captive?

23 പിന്നെ അദ്ദേഹം തന്റെ അരുളപ്പാട് അറിയിച്ചു: “ഹാ! ദൈവം ഇതു ചെയ്യുമ്പോൾ ആര് ജീവനോടിരിക്കും?

And he took up his parable, and said, Alas, who shall live when God doth appoint this one?

24 കിത്തീം തീരങ്ങളിൽനിന്ന് കപ്പലുകൾ വരും; അശ്ശൂരിനെയും ഏബെരിനെയും അവർ അധീനമാക്കും; എന്നാൽ അവരും നശിക്കും.”

But ships will come from the coast of Kittim, and will afflict Asshur, and will afflict 'Eber; and he also will be given to destruction for ever.

25 പിന്നെ ബിലെയാം എഴുന്നേറ്റ് സ്വദേശത്തേക്കു മടങ്ങി. ബാലാക്ക് തന്റെ വഴിക്കുപോയി.

And Bil'am rose up, and went and returned to his place; and Balak also went his way.
