1 ബിലെയാം പറഞ്ഞു: “ഇവിടെ ഏഴു യാഗപീഠം പണിത്, ഏഴു കാള, ഏഴ് ആട്ടുകൊറ്റൻ എന്നിവ എനിക്കായി ഒരുക്കുക.”

And Balaam said to Balac, Build me here seven altars, and prepare me here seven calves, and seven rams.

2 ബിലെയാം പറഞ്ഞതുപോലെ ബാലാക്ക് ചെയ്തു. ബാലാക്കും ബിലെയാമും ഓരോ കാള, ഓരോ ആട്ടുകൊറ്റൻ എന്നിവ ഓരോ യാഗപീഠത്തിന്മേലും അർപ്പിച്ചു.

And Balac did as Balaam told him; and he offered up a calf and a ram on [every] altar.

3 പിന്നെ ബിലെയാം ബാലാക്കിനോട്: “ഞാൻ അൽപ്പം വേറിട്ടു പോകുമ്പോൾ നീ ഇവിടെ നിന്റെ ഹോമയാഗത്തിനരികെ നിൽക്കുക. പക്ഷേ, യഹോവ എന്നെ സന്ദർശിച്ചേക്കും. അവിടന്ന് എന്ത് വെളിപ്പെടുത്തുന്നോ അതു ഞാൻ അറിയിക്കാം” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. പിന്നെ അദ്ദേഹം ഒരു മൊട്ടക്കുന്നിലേക്കു കയറിപ്പോയി.

And Balaam said to Balac, Stand by thy sacrifice, and I will go and see if God will appear to me and meet me, and the word which he shall shew me, I will report to thee. And Balac stood by his sacrifice.

4 ദൈവം അദ്ദേഹത്തെ സന്ദർശിച്ചു. ബിലെയാം പറഞ്ഞു: “ഞാൻ ഏഴു യാഗപീഠം ഒരുക്കി, ഓരോ യാഗപീഠത്തിന്മേലും ഓരോ കാള, ഓരോ ആട്ടുകൊറ്റൻ എന്നിവ അർപ്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.”

And Balaam went to enquire of God; and he went straight forward, and God appeared to Balaam; and Balaam said to him, I have prepared the seven altars, and have offered a calf and a ram on [every] altar.

5 യഹോവ ബിലെയാമിന്റെ നാവിൽ ഒരു ദൂത് നൽകി, “ബാലാക്കിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ മടങ്ങിച്ചെന്ന് ഈ ദൂത് അവനു നൽകുക” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

And God put a word into the mouth of Balaam, and said, thou shalt return to Balac, and thus shalt thou speak.

6 അങ്ങനെ അദ്ദേഹം ബാലാക്കിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ മടങ്ങിച്ചെന്നു. അദ്ദേഹം മോവാബ്യ പ്രഭുക്കന്മാരെല്ലാവരോടുംകൂടെ തന്റെ യാഗത്തിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ നിൽക്കുന്നതു കണ്ടു.

And he returned to him, and moreover he stood over his whole-burnt-offerings, and all the princes of Moab with him; and the Spirit of God came upon him.

7 അപ്പോൾ ബിലെയാം തന്റെ അരുളപ്പാട് അറിയിച്ചു: “ബാലാക്ക് അരാമിൽനിന്ന് എന്നെ കൊണ്ടുവന്നു, മോവാബ് രാജാവ് പൂർവഗിരികളിൽനിന്ന് എന്നെ വരുത്തി. ‘വരിക, എനിക്കുവേണ്ടി യാക്കോബിനെ ശപിക്കുക. വരിക, ഇസ്രായേലിനെ ശപിക്കുക’

And he took up his parable, and said, Balac king of Moab sent for me out of Mesopotamia, out of the mountains of the east, saying, Come, curse me Jacob, and Come, call for a curse for me upon Israel.

8 ദൈവം ശപിക്കാത്തവരെ ഞാൻ എങ്ങനെ ശപിക്കും? യഹോവ ശകാരിക്കാത്തവരെ ഞാൻ എങ്ങനെ ശകാരിക്കും?

How can I curse whom the Lord curses not? or how can I devote whom God devotes not?

9 പാറക്കെട്ടുകളിൽനിന്ന് ഞാൻ അവരെ കാണുന്നു. ഗിരികളിൽനിന്ന് ഞാൻ അവരെ ദർശിക്കുന്നു. ഇതാ, വേറിട്ടു പാർക്കുന്നൊരു ജനം. അവർ ഇതര ജനതകളുടെ കൂട്ടത്തിൽ എണ്ണപ്പെടുന്നില്ല.

For from the top of the mountains I shall see him, and from the hills I shall observe him: behold, the people shall dwell alone, and shall not be reckoned among the nations.

10 യാക്കോബിന്റെ പൊടിയെ ആർക്ക് എണ്ണാം? ഇസ്രായേലിന്റെ കാൽഭാഗത്തെ ആർക്ക് എണ്ണാം? നീതിമാന്മാർ മരിക്കുന്നതുപോലെ ഞാൻ മരിക്കട്ടെ. എന്റെ അന്ത്യവും അവരുടേതുപോലെയാകട്ടെ!”

Who has exactly calculated the seed of Jacob, and who shall number the families of Israel? let my soul die with the souls of the righteous, and let my seed be as their seed.

11 ബാലാക്ക് ബിലെയാമിനോട്, “താങ്കൾ എന്നോടീ ചെയ്തത് എന്താണ്? എന്റെ ശത്രുക്കളെ ശപിക്കാൻ ഞാൻ താങ്കളെ കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടുവന്നു, എന്നാൽ താങ്കൾ അവരെ അനുഗ്രഹിക്കുകമാത്രമാണു ചെയ്തത്!” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

And Balac said to Balaam, What hast thou done to me? I called thee to curse my enemies, and behold thou hast greatly blessed [them].

12 അതിനു ബിലെയാം, “യഹോവ എന്റെ നാവിൽ തന്നതു ഞാൻ പറയേണ്ടതല്ലേ?” എന്നു മറുപടി പറഞ്ഞു.

And Balaam said to Balac, Whatsoever the Lord shall put into my mouth, shall I not take heed to speak this?

13 പിന്നെ ബാലാക്ക് അദ്ദേഹത്തോട്, “താങ്കൾക്ക് അവരെ കാണാവുന്ന മറ്റൊരു സ്ഥലത്തേക്ക് എന്നോടൊപ്പം വരിക; അവരിൽ ഒരു ഭാഗത്തെമാത്രം അല്ലാതെ എല്ലാവരെയും താങ്കൾക്കു കാണാൻ കഴിയുകയില്ല. അവിടെനിന്ന് അവരെ എനിക്കുവേണ്ടി ശപിക്കുക” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

And Balac said to him, Come yet with me to another place where thou shalt not see the people, but only thou shalt see a part of them, and shalt not see them all; and curse me them from thence.

14 അങ്ങനെ ബാലാക്ക് ബിലെയാമിനെ പിസ്ഗാമലയുടെ മുകളിലുള്ള സോഫീം വയലിലേക്കു കൊണ്ടുപോയി. അവിടെ അയാൾ ഏഴു യാഗപീഠങ്ങൾ നിർമിച്ച് ഓരോ പീഠത്തിന്മേലും ഓരോ കാളയെയും ഓരോ ആട്ടുകൊറ്റനെയും അർപ്പിച്ചു.

And he took him to a high place of the field to the top of the quarried [rock], and he built there seven altars, and offered a calf and a ram on [every] altar.

15 ബിലെയാം ബാലാക്കിനോട്: “താങ്കളുടെ ഹോമയാഗത്തിനരികെ നിൽക്കുക. ഞാൻ അവിടെ യഹോവയെ കാണട്ടെ.”

And Balaam said to Balac, Stand by thy sacrifice, and I will go to enquire of God.

16 യഹോവ ബിലെയാമിനെ സന്ദർശിച്ച് അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ നാവിൽ ഒരു സന്ദേശം കൊടുത്തിട്ട്, “ബാലാക്കിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ മടങ്ങിച്ചെന്ന് ഈ ദൂത് അവനു നൽകുക” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

And God met Balaam, and put a word into his mouth, and said, return to Balac, and thus shalt thou speak.

17 അങ്ങനെ ബിലെയാം അയാളുടെ അടുക്കൽ മടങ്ങിച്ചെന്നു; മോവാബ്യപ്രഭുക്കന്മാർ എല്ലാവരോടുംകൂടെ അയാൾ തന്റെ യാഗത്തിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ നിൽക്കുന്നതു കണ്ടു. ബാലാക്ക് അദ്ദേഹത്തോട്, “യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടെന്ത്?” എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.

And he returned to him: and he also was standing by his whole-burnt-sacrifice, and all the princes of Moab with him; and Balac said to him, What has the Lord spoken?

18 അപ്പോൾ അദ്ദേഹം അറിയിച്ച അരുളപ്പാട് ഇപ്രകാരമായിരുന്നു: “ബാലാക്കേ, എഴുന്നേറ്റു കേൾക്കുക, ശ്രദ്ധിച്ചുകേൾക്കുക; സിപ്പോരിന്റെ പുത്രാ, എനിക്കു ചെവിതരിക.

And he took up his parable, and said, rise up, Balac, and hear; hearken as a witness, thou son of Sepphor.

19 വ്യാജം പറയാൻ ദൈവം മനുഷ്യനല്ല, തന്റെ മനം മാറ്റാൻ മനുഷ്യപുത്രനുമല്ല. അരുളിച്ചെയ്തിട്ട് അവിടന്നു പ്രവർത്തിക്കാതിരിക്കുമോ? വാക്കു പറഞ്ഞിട്ട് നിറവേറ്റാതിരിക്കുമോ?

God is not as man to waver, nor as the son of man to be threatened; shall he say and not perform? shall he speak and not keep [to his word]?

20 അനുഗ്രഹിക്കാനുള്ളൊരു കൽപ്പന എനിക്കു ലഭിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു. അവിടന്ന് അനുഗ്രഹിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു, എനിക്കതു മാറ്റിക്കൂടാ.

Behold, I have received [commandment] to bless: I will bless, and not turn back.

21 “അത്യാഹിതം യാക്കോബിൽ കാണാനില്ല. ദുരിതം ഇസ്രായേലിൽ ദർശിക്കാനുമില്ല. യഹോവയായ അവരുടെ ദൈവം അവരോടുകൂടെയുണ്ട്. രാജാവിന്റെ ഗർജനം അവരുടെ മധ്യേയുണ്ട്.

There shall not be trouble in Jacob, neither shall sorrow be seen in Israel: the Lord his God [is] with him, the glories of rulers [are] in him.

22 ഈജിപ്റ്റിൽനിന്ന് ദൈവം അവരെ കൊണ്ടുവന്നു; ഒരു കാട്ടുകാളയുടെ കരുത്ത് അവർക്കുണ്ട്.

It was God who brought him out of Egypt; he has as it were the glory of a unicorn.

23 യാക്കോബിനെതിരേ ആഭിചാരം ഫലിക്കുകയില്ല, ഇസ്രായേലിനെതിരായി ലക്ഷണവിദ്യയുമില്ല. യാക്കോബിനെയും ഇസ്രായേലിനെയുംപറ്റി, ഇപ്പോൾ ‘ദൈവം ചെയ്തതെന്തെന്നു കാണുക!’ എന്നു പറയപ്പെടും.

For there is no divination in Jacob, nor enchantment in Israel; in season it shall be told to Jacob and Israel what God shall perform.

24 ആ ജനം സിംഹിയെപ്പോലെ ഉണരുന്നു; അവർ സിംഹത്തെപ്പോലെ എഴുന്നേൽക്കുന്നു. അവർ തന്റെ ഇരയെ വിഴുങ്ങുകയും ആ കൊലയാളികളുടെ രക്തം കുടിക്കുകയുംചെയ്യുന്നതുവരെ വിശ്രമിക്കുകയില്ല.”

Behold, the people shall rise up as a lion's whelp, and shall exalt himself as a lion; he shall not lie down till he have eaten the prey, and he shall drink the blood of the slain.

25 അപ്പോൾ ബാലാക്ക് ബിലെയാമിനോട്: “അവരെ ശപിക്കുകയും വേണ്ട, അനുഗ്രഹിക്കുകയും വേണ്ട!” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

And Balac said to Balaam, Neither curse the people at all for me, nor bless them at all.

26 ബിലെയാം മറുപടിയായി, “യഹോവ എന്തു കൽപ്പിച്ചാലും ഞാൻ അതു ചെയ്യും എന്നു ഞാൻ താങ്കളോടു പറഞ്ഞില്ലേ?” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

And Balaam answered and said to Balac, Spoke I not to thee, saying, Whatsoever thing God shall speak to me, that will I do?

27 ഇതിനുശേഷം ബാലാക്ക് ബിലെയാമിനോട്, “വരിക, ഞാൻ താങ്കളെ മറ്റൊരു സ്ഥലത്തേക്ക് കൊണ്ടുപോകാം. ഒരുപക്ഷേ അവിടെനിന്ന് എനിക്കുവേണ്ടി അവരെ ശപിക്കേണ്ടതിനു നിന്നെ അനുവദിക്കാൻ ദൈവത്തിനു പ്രസാദമായേക്കും” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

And Balac said to Balaam, Come [and] I will remove thee to another place, if it shall please God, and curse me them from thence.

28 അങ്ങനെ ബാലാക്ക് ബിലെയാമിനെ മരുഭൂമിക്ക് എതിരേയുള്ള പെയോർമലയുടെ മുകളിലേക്കു കൊണ്ടുപോയി.

And Balac took Balaam to the top of Phogor, which extends to the wilderness.

29 ബിലെയാം പറഞ്ഞു: “ഇവിടെ ഏഴു യാഗപീഠം പണിത് ഏഴു കാളകളെയും ഏഴ് ആട്ടുകൊറ്റനെയും എനിക്കായി ഒരുക്കുക.”

And Balaam said to Balac, build me here seven altars, and prepare me here seven calves, and seven rams.

30 ബിലെയാം പറഞ്ഞതുപോലെ ബാലാക്ക് ചെയ്തു. ഓരോ യാഗപീഠത്തിന്മേലും ഓരോ കാളയെയും ഓരോ ആട്ടുകൊറ്റനെയും അർപ്പിച്ചു.

And Balac did as Balaam told him, and offered a calf and a ram on [every] altar.
