1 ഹഖല്യാവിന്റെ മകനായ നെഹെമ്യാവിന്റെ വചനങ്ങൾ: ഇരുപതാമാണ്ടിൽ, കിസ്ളേവുമാസത്തിൽ ഞാൻ ശൂശൻ രാജധാനിയിൽ ആയിരിക്കുമ്പോൾ,

4 ഈ കാര്യങ്ങൾ കേട്ടപ്പോൾ ഞാൻ ഇരുന്നു കരഞ്ഞു; ഏതാനും ദിവസം, ദുഃഖിച്ചും ഉപവസിച്ചും ചെലവഴിക്കുകയും സ്വർഗത്തിലെ ദൈവത്തോട് ഇപ്രകാരം പ്രാർഥിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു.

7 ഞങ്ങൾ അങ്ങയോടു കഠിനമായി പാപംചെയ്തു; അങ്ങയുടെ ദാസനായ മോശയോടു കൽപ്പിച്ച കൽപ്പനകളും ഉത്തരവുകളും നിയമങ്ങളും ഞങ്ങൾ പാലിച്ചിട്ടില്ല.

8 “‘നിങ്ങൾ അവിശ്വസ്തരായാൽ ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളെ രാഷ്ട്രങ്ങൾക്കിടയിൽ ചിതറിച്ചുകളയും;

9 എന്നാൽ നിങ്ങൾ എന്റെ അടുത്തേക്കു മടങ്ങി എന്റെ കൽപ്പനകൾ പാലിച്ച്, അവ അനുസരിച്ചാൽ, നിങ്ങളിൽനിന്നു ചിതറിപ്പോയവർ ആകാശത്തിന്റെ അറുതിയിലാണെങ്കിലും അവിടെനിന്നും അവരെ ശേഖരിച്ച് എന്റെ നാമം സ്ഥാപിക്കാൻ ഞാൻ തെരഞ്ഞെടുത്ത സ്ഥലത്ത് അവരെ എത്തിക്കും’ എന്ന് അവിടത്തെ ദാസനായ മോശയോടു ചെയ്ത വാഗ്ദാനം ഓർക്കണമേ.

10 “അങ്ങയുടെ മഹാശക്തിയാലും ബലമുള്ള കൈയാലും വീണ്ടെടുക്കപ്പെട്ട അങ്ങയുടെ ദാസരും ജനവും ആണല്ലോ അവർ.

11 കർത്താവേ, അങ്ങയുടെ ദാസന്റെയും തിരുനാമത്തെ ഭയപ്പെടുന്നതിൽ ആനന്ദിക്കുന്ന അങ്ങയുടെ സേവകരുടെയും പ്രാർഥനയ്ക്കു കാതോർക്കണമേ. അവിടത്തെ ഈ ദാസന് ഇന്നു വിജയം നൽകി, ഈ മനുഷ്യന്റെ മുമ്പാകെ ദയ ലഭിക്കാൻ ഇടയാക്കണമേ.” അക്കാലത്തു ഞാൻ രാജാവിന്റെ പാനപാത്രവാഹകനായിരുന്നു.
