മത്തായി 27
1 അതിരാവിലെ എല്ലാ പുരോഹിതമുഖ്യന്മാരും സമുദായനേതാക്കന്മാരും ചേർന്ന് യേശുവിനെ വധശിക്ഷയ്ക്ക് ഏൽപ്പിക്കേണം എന്നു പദ്ധതിയിട്ട്,
When it was morning, all the chief priests and the elders of the people have consulted against Jesus, how they might procure his death,
2 അദ്ദേഹത്തെ ബന്ധിച്ച് അവിടെനിന്ന് കൊണ്ടുപോയി റോമൻ ഭരണാധികാരിയായ പീലാത്തോസിന് കൈമാറി.
conducted him bound to Pontius Pilate, the procurator, to whom they delivered him up.
3 യേശുവിനെ വധശിക്ഷയ്ക്ക് വിധിച്ചു എന്ന് അദ്ദേഹത്തെ ഒറ്റിക്കൊടുത്ത യൂദാ അറിഞ്ഞപ്പോൾ അതിദുഃഖിതനായിത്തീർന്നു. അയാൾ ആ മുപ്പത് വെള്ളിനാണയങ്ങൾ പുരോഹിതമുഖ്യന്മാർക്കും സമുദായനേതാക്കന്മാർക്കും തിരികെ നൽകിക്കൊണ്ട്,
Then Judas, who had betrayed him, finding that he was condemned, repented; and returning the thirty shekels to the chief priests and the elders,
4 “ഞാൻ പാപംചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു; നിഷ്കളങ്കരക്തത്തെ ഞാൻ ഒറ്റിക്കൊടുത്തല്ലോ” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. “അതിന് ഞങ്ങൾക്ക് എന്തുവേണം? അത് നിന്റെ കാര്യം,” എന്ന് അവർ മറുപടി പറഞ്ഞു.
said, I have sinner, in that I have betrayed the innocent. They answered, What is that to us? See you to that.
5 യൂദാ ആ നാണയങ്ങൾ ദൈവാലയത്തിലേക്കു വലിച്ചെറിഞ്ഞശേഷം പോയി കെട്ടിത്തൂങ്ങി ആത്മഹത്യചെയ്തു.
After which, having thrown down the money in the temple, he went away, and strangled himself.
6 പുരോഹിതമുഖ്യന്മാർ ആ നാണയങ്ങൾ പെറുക്കിയെടുത്തുകൊണ്ട്, “ഇത് രക്തത്തിന്റെ വിലയാകുകയാൽ ദൈവാലയഭണ്ഡാരത്തിൽ നിക്ഷേപിക്കുന്നതു നിയമവിരുദ്ധമാണ്” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞ്,
The chief priests taking the money, said, It is not lawful to put it into the sacred treasury, because it is the price of blood.
7 ആ പണംകൊണ്ട് വിദേശികളെ മറവുചെയ്യുന്ന ഒരു ശ്മശാനത്തിനായി കുശവന്റെ നിലം വാങ്ങാൻ നിശ്ചയിച്ചു.
But, after deliberating, they bought with it the potter's field, to be a burying place for strangers,
8 അതുകൊണ്ട് ആ സ്ഥലം ഇന്നും “രക്തനിലം” എന്നപേരിൽ അറിയപ്പെടുന്നു.
for which reason that field is, to this day, called, The Field of Blood.
9 “ഇസ്രായേൽജനം യേശുവിന് നിശ്ചയിച്ച വിലയായ മുപ്പതു വെള്ളിനാണയങ്ങൾ അവർ എടുത്ത്,
Then was the word of Jeremiah the Prophet verified, "The thirty shekels, the price at which he was valued, I took, as the Lord appointed me, from the sons of Israel,
10 കർത്താവ് എന്നോടു കൽപ്പിച്ചിരുന്നതുപോലെതന്നെ കുശവന്റെ നിലം വാങ്ങാൻ അവർ ഉപയോഗിച്ചു” എന്ന് യിരെമ്യാപ്രവാചകൻ പ്രസ്താവിച്ചത് ഇങ്ങനെ നിറവേറി.
who gave them for the potter's field.
11 ഈ സമയം റോമൻ ഭരണാധികാരിയായ പീലാത്തോസിന്റെ മുമ്പിൽ യേശുവിനെ നിർത്തി. അദ്ദേഹം യേശുവിനോട്, “നീയാണോ യെഹൂദരുടെ രാജാവ്?” എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു. അതിന് യേശു, “താങ്കൾ പറയുന്നതുപോലെതന്നെ” എന്നു മറുപടി പറഞ്ഞു.
Now Jesus appeared before the procurator, who questioned him, saying, You are the King of the Jews? He answered, You say right.
12 പുരോഹിതമുഖ്യന്മാരും സമുദായനേതാക്കന്മാരും യേശുവിന്റെമേൽ കുറ്റങ്ങൾ ആരോപിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു; അതിനു മറുപടിയായി യാതൊന്നും അദ്ദേഹം പറഞ്ഞില്ല.
But when he was arraigned by the chief priests and the elders, he made no reply.
13 അപ്പോൾ പീലാത്തോസ്, “ഇവർ നിനക്കെതിരായി ഇത്രയേറെ ആരോപണങ്ങൾ ഉന്നയിക്കുന്നതൊന്നും നീ കേൾക്കുന്നില്ലേ?” എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.
Then Pilate said to him, Do you not hear of how many crimes they accuse you?
14 എന്നാൽ യേശു ആ ആരോപണങ്ങൾക്കൊന്നും ഒരു വാക്കുകൊണ്ടുപോലും പ്രത്യുത്തരം പറഞ്ഞില്ല എന്നത് പീലാത്തോസിനെ വളരെയേറെ അത്ഭുതപ്പെടുത്തി.
But he answered not one word, which surprised the procurator exceedingly.
15 പെസഹാഘോഷവേളയിൽ ജനക്കൂട്ടം തെരഞ്ഞെടുക്കുന്ന ഒരു തടവുകാരനെ മോചിപ്പിക്കുക ഭരണാധികാരിയുടെ പതിവായിരുന്നു.
Now the procurator was accustomed to release, at the festival, any one of the prisoners whom the multitude demanded.
16 ആ വർഷം അവിടെ ബറബ്ബാസ് എന്നു പേരുള്ള കുപ്രസിദ്ധനായ ഒരുവൻ തടവിലുണ്ടായിരുന്നു.
And they had then a famous prisoners named Barabbas.
17 ജനം പീലാത്തോസിന്റെ അരമനാങ്കണത്തിൽ ഒരുമിച്ചുകൂടിയപ്പോൾ, പീലാത്തോസ് അവരോട്, “ബറബ്ബാസിനെയോ ക്രിസ്തുവെന്നു വിളിക്കപ്പെടുന്ന യേശുവിനെയോ; ഇവരിൽ ആരെയാണ് ഞാൻ നിങ്ങൾക്ക് മോചിപ്പിച്ചുതരേണ്ടത്?” എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.
Therefore. when they were assembled, Pilate said to them, Whom shall I release to you? Barabbas, or Jesus, who is called Messiah?
18 അവർ അസൂയ നിമിത്തമാണ് യേശുവിനെ തന്റെ പക്കൽ ഏൽപ്പിച്ചതെന്ന് അദ്ദേഹത്തിന് വ്യക്തമായിരുന്നു.
(For he perceived that through envy they had delivered him up;
19 പീലാത്തോസ് ന്യായാസനത്തിൽ ഇരിക്കുമ്പോൾ അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ പത്നി ഒരു സന്ദേശം കൊടുത്തയച്ചു: “നിരപരാധിയായ ആ മനുഷ്യന്റെ കാര്യത്തിൽ ഇടപെടരുത്. ഇന്ന് അദ്ദേഹംനിമിത്തം ഞാൻ സ്വപ്നത്തിൽ വളരെ അസ്വസ്ഥയായി.”
besides, while he was sitting on the tribunal, his wife sent him this message, Have nothing to do with this innocent person; for today, I have suffered much in a dream, on his account.)
20 എന്നാൽ, ബറബ്ബാസിനെ മോചിപ്പിക്കുന്നതിനും യേശുവിനെ വധശിക്ഷയ്ക്ക് ഏൽപ്പിക്കുന്നതിനുമായി അപേക്ഷിക്കാൻ പുരോഹിതമുഖ്യന്മാരും സമുദായനേതാക്കന്മാരും ജനക്കൂട്ടത്തെ വശീകരിച്ചിരുന്നു.
But the chief priests and elders instigated the populace to demand Barabbas, and cause Jesus to be executed.
21 “ഈ രണ്ടുപേരിൽ ആരെ മോചിപ്പിക്കണമെന്നതാണ് നിങ്ങളുടെ ആവശ്യം?” ഭരണാധികാരി ചോദിച്ചു. “ബറബ്ബാസിനെ,” അവർ മറുപടി പറഞ്ഞു.
Therefore, when the procurator asked, which of the two he should release, they all answered, Barabbas.
22 “അപ്പോൾ, ക്രിസ്തുവെന്നു വിളിക്കപ്പെടുന്ന യേശുവിനെ ഞാൻ എന്തു ചെയ്യണം?” പീലാത്തോസ് ചോദിച്ചു. “അവനെ ക്രൂശിക്ക!” അവർ ഏകസ്വരത്തിൽ പ്രതിവചിച്ചു.
Pilate replied, What then shall I do with Jesus, whom they call Messiah? They all answered, Let him be crucified.
23 “എന്തിന്? അയാൾ എന്തു കുറ്റമാണു ചെയ്തത്?” പീലാത്തോസ് ചോദിച്ചു. എന്നാൽ അവർ അത്യുച്ചത്തിൽ, “അവനെ ക്രൂശിക്ക!” എന്ന് ആക്രോശിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.
The procurator said, Why? What evil has he done? But they cried the louder, saying, Let him be crucified.
24 തനിക്കൊരു തീരുമാനമെടുക്കാൻ സാധിക്കുന്നില്ല, മറിച്ച് ഒരു ലഹള പൊട്ടിപ്പുറപ്പെടാൻ പോകുന്നു എന്നു മനസ്സിലാക്കി, “ഈ മനുഷ്യന്റെ രക്തം സംബന്ധിച്ച് ഞാൻ നിരപരാധിയാണ്, നിങ്ങളാണ് ഇതിന് ഉത്തരവാദികൾ” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞ് പീലാത്തോസ് വെള്ളം എടുത്ത് ജനക്കൂട്ടം കാൺകെ തന്റെ കൈകഴുകി.
Pilate perceiving that he was so far from prevailing, that they grew more tumultuous, took water, and washed his hands before the multitude, saying, I am guiltless of the blood of this innocent person. See you to it.
25 “അയാളുടെ രക്തം ഞങ്ങളുടെമേലും ഞങ്ങളുടെ മക്കളുടെമേലും വന്നുകൊള്ളട്ടെ,” അവർ എല്ലാവരുംകൂടി ഉറക്കെ വിളിച്ചുപറഞ്ഞു.
And all the people answering, said, His blood be upon us, and upon your children.
26 അപ്പോൾ പീലാത്തോസ് ബറബ്ബാസിനെ അവർക്കു വിട്ടുകൊടുത്തു; യേശുവിനെയോ ചമ്മട്ടികൊണ്ട് അടിപ്പിച്ചതിനുശേഷം ക്രൂശിക്കാൻ പട്ടാളത്തെ ഏൽപ്പിച്ചു.
Then he released Barabbas to them, and having caused Jesus to be scourged, delivered him up to be crucified.
27 ഉടനെതന്നെ പീലാത്തോസിന്റെ സൈനികർ യേശുവിനെ അവരുടെ ആസ്ഥാനത്തേക്ക് കൊണ്ടുപോയി; തങ്ങളുടെ സഹസൈനികരെയെല്ലാം അദ്ദേഹത്തിനുമുമ്പിൽ വിളിച്ചുവരുത്തി.
After this, the procurator's soldiers took Jesus into the pretorium, where they gathered around him all the band.
28 അവർ അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ പുറങ്കുപ്പായം വലിച്ചൂരിയശേഷം ഒരു ചെമന്ന പുറങ്കുപ്പായം ധരിപ്പിച്ചു.
And having stripped him, they robed him in a scarlet cloak,
29 ഒരു മുൾക്കിരീടം മെടഞ്ഞ് അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ ശിരസ്സിൽ വെച്ചു. വലതുകൈയിൽ ഒരു വടി പിടിപ്പിച്ചു. അതിനുശേഷം അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ കാൽക്കൽവീണ് “യെഹൂദരുടെ രാജാവ്, നീണാൾ വാഴട്ടെ!” എന്ന് അവർ പരിഹസിച്ചു പറഞ്ഞു.
and crowned him with a wreath of thorns, and put a rod in his right hand, and kneeling before him in mockery. cried, Hail, King of the Jews!
30 അവർ അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെമേൽ തുപ്പുകയും വടി പിടിച്ചുവാങ്ങി തലയിൽ ആ വടികൊണ്ട് അടിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു.
And spitting upon him, they took the rod and struck him with it on the head.
31 ഇങ്ങനെ, അദ്ദേഹത്തെ പരിഹസിച്ചുതീർന്നശേഷം പുറങ്കുപ്പായം മാറ്റി, സ്വന്തം വസ്ത്രം ധരിപ്പിച്ചു. പിന്നെ അവർ അദ്ദേഹത്തെ ക്രൂശിക്കാൻ കൊണ്ടുപോയി.
When they had mocked him, they disrobed him again, and having put his own raiment on him, led him away to crucify him.
32 അവർ പോകുമ്പോൾ കുറേനഗ്രാമവാസിയായ ശിമോൻ എന്നു പേരുള്ള ഒരു മനുഷ്യനെ കണ്ടു. യേശുവിന്റെ ക്രൂശ് ചുമക്കാൻ അവർ അയാളെ നിർബന്ധിച്ചു.
As they went out of the city, they met one Simon, a Cyrenian, whom they constrained to carry the cross;
33 “തലയോട്ടിയുടെ സ്ഥലം” എന്നർഥമുള്ള “ഗൊൽഗോഥാ” എന്നു വിളിച്ചുവരുന്ന സ്ഥലത്ത് അവർ എത്തി.
and being arrived at a place called Golgotha, which signifies a Place of Skulls,
34 അവിടെവെച്ച് അവർ അദ്ദേഹത്തിന് കയ്‌പുകലക്കിയ വീഞ്ഞ് കുടിക്കാൻ കൊടുത്തു; അദ്ദേഹം അത് രുചിച്ചു നോക്കിയെങ്കിലും കുടിക്കാൻ താത്പര്യപ്പെട്ടില്ല.
they gave him to drink, vinegar mixed with wormwood, which, having tasted, he would not drink.
35 അവർ യേശുവിനെ ക്രൂശിച്ചതിനുശേഷം, അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ വസ്ത്രങ്ങൾ നറുക്കിട്ട് വീതിച്ചെടുത്തു.
After they had nailed him to the cross, they parted his garments by lot.
36 അവിടെ അവർ അദ്ദേഹത്തിനു കാവലിരുന്നു.
And having sat down there, they guarded him.
37 യെഹൂദരുടെ രാജാവായ യേശുവാണ് ഇവൻ, എന്ന് അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെമേൽ ചുമത്തപ്പെട്ട കുറ്റം എഴുതി അവർ യേശുവിന്റെ ശിരസ്സിനുമീതേ വെച്ചു.
And over his head they placed this inscription, denoting the cause of his death: THIS IS JESUS THE KING OF THE JEWS.
38 അദ്ദേഹത്തോടൊപ്പം രണ്ട് കൊള്ളക്കാരെ, ഒരാളെ വലത്തും മറ്റേയാളെ ഇടത്തുമായി, ക്രൂശിച്ചു.
Two robbers also were crucified with him, one at his right hand, and the other at his left.
39 ആ വഴി കടന്നുപോയവർ തലകുലുക്കിക്കൊണ്ട്, “ദൈവാലയം തകർത്ത്, മൂന്ന് ദിവസംകൊണ്ട് പണിയുന്നവനേ, നിന്നെത്തന്നെ രക്ഷിക്കുക! നീ ദൈവപുത്രനെങ്കിൽ, ക്രൂശിൽനിന്ന് ഇറങ്ങിവാ!” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞ് അദ്ദേഹത്തെ നിന്ദിച്ചു.
Meanwhile the passengers reviled him, shaking their heads,
and saying, You who could demolish the temple, and rebuild it in three days; if you be God's Son, come down from the cross.
41 അങ്ങനെതന്നെ പുരോഹിതമുഖ്യന്മാരും വേദജ്ഞരും സമുദായനേതാക്കന്മാരും ഇതേവിധത്തിൽത്തന്നെ അദ്ദേഹത്തെ പരിഹസിച്ചു.
The chief priests also, with the scribes and elders, deriding him, said,
42 അവർ പറഞ്ഞു: “ഇവൻ മറ്റുള്ളവരെ രക്ഷിച്ചു, എന്നാൽ, തന്നെത്താൻ രക്ഷിക്കാനുള്ള കഴിവില്ല താനും! ഇവനാണോ ഇസ്രായേലിന്റെ രാജാവ്! ഇവൻ ഇപ്പോൾത്തന്നെ ക്രൂശിൽനിന്ന് ഇറങ്ങിവരട്ടെ, എങ്കിൽ ഇവനിൽ ഞങ്ങൾ വിശ്വസിക്കാം.
He saved others: can he not save himself? If he be King of Israel, let him now descend from the cross, and we will believe him.
43 ഇവൻ ദൈവത്തിൽ വിശ്വസിക്കുന്നു. ദൈവം ഇവനിൽ സംപ്രീതനായിരിക്കുന്നെങ്കിൽ, അവിടന്ന് ഇപ്പോൾത്തന്നെ ഇവനെ വിടുവിക്കട്ടെ; ‘ഞാൻ ദൈവപുത്രൻ’” എന്ന അവകാശവാദം ഇവൻ ഉന്നയിച്ചല്ലോ
He trusted in God. Let God deliver him now, if he regard him; for he called himself God's Son.
44 അദ്ദേഹത്തോടുകൂടെ ക്രൂശിക്കപ്പെട്ട കൊള്ളക്കാരും അതുപോലെതന്നെ അദ്ദേഹത്തെ അധിക്ഷേപിച്ചു.
The robbers too, his fellow-sufferers, upbraided him in the same manner.
45 ഉച്ചയ്ക്ക് പന്ത്രണ്ടുമണിമുതൽ മൂന്നുമണിവരെ ദേശത്തെല്ലായിടത്തും ഇരുട്ടു വ്യാപിച്ചു.
Now from the sixth hour to the ninth, the whole land was in darkness.
46 ഏകദേശം മൂന്നുമണിക്ക് യേശു, “ഏലീ, ഏലീ, ലമ്മാ ശബക്താനി?” അതായത്, “എന്റെ ദൈവമേ, എന്റെ ദൈവമേ, അവിടന്ന് എന്നെ കൈവിട്ടതെന്ത്?” എന്ന് അത്യുച്ചത്തിൽ നിലവിളിച്ചു.
About the ninth hour, Jesus cried aloud, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabacthani? that is, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?
47 അവിടെ നിന്നിരുന്നവരിൽ ചിലർ ഇതു കേട്ടിട്ട്, “അയാൾ ഏലിയാവിനെ വിളിക്കുന്നു” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
Some of the bystanders hearing this, said, He calls Elijah.
48 ഉടനെതന്നെ അവരിൽ ഒരാൾ ഓടിച്ചെന്ന് ഒരു സ്പോഞ്ച് എടുത്തു. അയാൾ അതിൽ പുളിച്ച വീഞ്ഞു നിറച്ച് ഒരു ഈറ്റത്തണ്ടിന്മേൽവെച്ച് യേശുവിന് കുടിക്കാൻ കൊടുത്തു.
Instantly one of them ran, brought a sponge, and soaked it in vinegar, and having fastened it to a stick, presented it to him to drink.
49 എന്നാൽ മറ്റുള്ളവർ, “നിൽക്കൂ, ഏലിയാവ് അയാളെ രക്ഷിക്കാൻ വരുമോ എന്നു നോക്കാം.” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
The rest said, Forbear, we shall see whether Elijah will come to save him.
50 യേശു വീണ്ടും അത്യുച്ചത്തിൽ നിലവിളിച്ച് തന്റെ ആത്മാവിനെ ഏൽപ്പിച്ചുകൊടുത്തു.
Jesus having again cried with a loud voice, resigned his spirit.
51 ആ നിമിഷംതന്നെ ദൈവാലയത്തിലെ തിരശ്ശീല മുകളിൽനിന്ന് താഴെവരെ രണ്ടായി ചീന്തിപ്പോയി. ഭൂകമ്പം ഉണ്ടായി, പാറകൾ പിളർന്നു,
And, behold, the vail of the temple was rent in two from top to bottom, the earth trembled, and the rocks split.
52 ശവക്കല്ലറകൾ തുറന്നു. മരിച്ചുപോയിരുന്ന അനേകം വിശുദ്ധരുടെ ശരീരങ്ങൾ ഉയിർത്തെഴുന്നേറ്റു.
Graves also burst open; and after his resurrection, the bodies of several saints who slept were raised,
53 അവർ യേശുവിന്റെ പുനരുത്ഥാനത്തിനുശേഷം കല്ലറകളിൽനിന്ന് പുറത്തുവരികയും, വിശുദ്ധനഗരത്തിൽ ചെന്ന് ധാരാളംപേർക്കു പ്രത്യക്ഷരാകുകയും ചെയ്തു.
came out of the graves, went into the holy city, and were seen by many.
54 യേശുവിനു കാവൽനിന്നിരുന്ന ശതാധിപനും അദ്ദേഹത്തോടുകൂടെ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നവരും ഭൂകമ്പവും മറ്റുസംഭവങ്ങളും കണ്ട് ഭയന്നുവിറച്ചു, “ഇദ്ദേഹം വാസ്തവമായും ദൈവപുത്രൻ ആയിരുന്നു!” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
Now the centurion, and they who, with him, guarded Jesus, observing the earthquake, and what passed, were exceedingly terrified, and said, This was certainly the son of a god.
55 യേശുവിനെ പരിചരിച്ചുകൊണ്ട് ഗലീലയിൽനിന്ന് അദ്ദേഹത്തെ അനുഗമിച്ചിരുന്ന പല സ്ത്രീകളും അകലെനിന്ന് ഇതെല്ലാം സസൂക്ഷ്മം നിരീക്ഷിക്കുകയായിരുന്നു.
Several women also were there, looking on at a distance, who had followed Jesus from Galilee, assisting him with their service.
56 അവരുടെ കൂട്ടത്തിൽ മഗ്ദലക്കാരി മറിയയും യാക്കോബ്, യോസെ എന്നിവരുടെ അമ്മ മറിയയും സെബെദിപുത്രന്മാരായ യാക്കോബ്, യോഹന്നാൻ എന്നിവരുടെ അമ്മയും ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.
Among them were Mary the Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James and Joses, and the mother of Zebedee's sons.
57 സന്ധ്യയായപ്പോൾ, യേശുവിന്റെ ഒരു ശിഷ്യനായിരുന്ന അരിമഥ്യക്കാരൻ യോസേഫ് എന്ന ധനികൻ അവിടെ എത്തി.
In the evening a rich Arimathean named Joseph, who was himself a disciple of Jesus,
58 അദ്ദേഹം പീലാത്തോസിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ ചെന്ന് യേശുവിന്റെ മൃതദേഹം വിട്ടുതരണമെന്ന് അപേക്ഷിച്ചു; അദ്ദേഹത്തിന് അതു വിട്ടുകൊടുക്കാൻ പീലാത്തോസ് ഉത്തരവിടുകയും ചെയ്തു.
went to Pilate and begged the body of Jesus. Pilate having given orders to deliver it to Joseph,
59 യോസേഫ് ആ മൃതദേഹം എടുത്ത് വെടിപ്പുള്ള ഒരു മൃദുലവസ്ത്രത്തിൽ പൊതിഞ്ഞ്,

60 തനിക്കായി പാറയിൽ വെട്ടിച്ചിരുന്ന പുതിയ കല്ലറയിൽ സംസ്കരിച്ചു. കല്ലറയുടെ കവാടത്തിൽ വലിയൊരു കല്ല് ഉരുട്ടിവെച്ചതിനുശേഷം അദ്ദേഹം പോയി.
and deposited it in his own tomb, which he had newly caused to be hewn in the rock; and having rolled a great stone to the entrance, he went away.
61 അവിടെ, മഗ്ദലക്കാരി മറിയയും മറ്റേ മറിയയും കല്ലറയ്ക്കുമുമ്പിൽ ഇരിക്കുന്നുണ്ടായിരുന്നു.
Now Mary the Magdalene, and the other Mary were there, sitting over against the sepulcher.
62 ഒരുക്കനാൾ കഴിഞ്ഞുള്ള ദിവസം പുരോഹിതമുഖ്യന്മാരും പരീശന്മാരും ഒരുമിച്ച് പീലാത്തോസിന്റെ അടുക്കൽവന്നു.
On the morrow, being the day of preparation, the chief priests and the Pharisees repaired in a body to Pilate,
63 അവർ അദ്ദേഹത്തോട്, “പ്രഭോ, ആ വഞ്ചകൻ ജീവിച്ചിരുന്നപ്പോൾ, ‘ഞാൻ മൂന്ന് ദിവസത്തിനുശേഷം ഉയിർത്തെഴുന്നേൽക്കും’ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞത് ഞങ്ങൾ ഓർക്കുന്നു.
and said, My lord, we remember that this impostor, when alive, said, Within three days I shall be raised.
64 അതുകൊണ്ട് മൂന്നുദിവസംവരെ കല്ലറ സുരക്ഷിതമാക്കാൻ ഉത്തരവിടണം എന്നപേക്ഷിച്ചു. അല്ലാത്തപക്ഷം അയാളുടെ ശിഷ്യന്മാർ വന്ന് മൃതദേഹം മോഷ്ടിക്കുകയും അയാൾ മരിച്ചവരിൽനിന്ന് ഉയിർത്തെഴുന്നേറ്റിരിക്കുന്നു എന്ന് ജനങ്ങളോടു പറയുകയും ചെയ്യും. ഈ ഒടുവിലത്തെ വഞ്ചന ആദ്യത്തേതിനെക്കാൾ വിഷമകരമാകുകയും ചെയ്യും.”
Command, therefore, that the sepulcher be guarded till the third day, lest his disciples come and steal him, and say to the people, He is raised from the dead; for this last imposture would prove worse than the first.
65 അതിന് പീലാത്തോസ്, “ഒരുസംഘം സൈനികരെ തരാം, നിങ്ങൾ പോയി കഴിയുന്നവിധത്തിലെല്ലാം കല്ലറ സുരക്ഷിതമാക്കുക” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
Pilate answered, You have a guard; make the sepulcher as secure as you can.
66 അങ്ങനെ അവർ പോയി ആ പാറമേൽ മുദ്രവെച്ചും സൈനികരെ നിയോഗിച്ചും കല്ലറ ഭദ്രമാക്കി.
Accordingly they went and secured it, sealing the stone, and posting guards.
