മത്തായി 19
1 യേശു ഈ പ്രഭാഷണം അവസാനിപ്പിച്ചശേഷം ഗലീലാപ്രവിശ്യയിൽനിന്ന് യോർദാൻനദിയുടെ അക്കരെയുള്ള യെഹൂദ്യപ്രവിശ്യയിലേക്ക് യാത്രതിരിച്ചു.
When Jesus had ended this discourse, he left Galilee, and came to the confines of Judea, upon the Jordan,
2 വലിയൊരു ജനസഞ്ചയം അദ്ദേഹത്തെ അനുഗമിച്ചു. അവിടെവെച്ച് അദ്ദേഹം അവരിൽ രോഗബാധിതരായിരുന്നവരെ സൗഖ്യമാക്കി.
whither great multitudes followed him, and he healed their sick.
3 “ഏതെങ്കിലും കാരണത്താൽ ഒരു പുരുഷൻ തന്റെ ഭാര്യയെ ഉപേക്ഷിക്കുന്നതിന് നിയമം അനുവദിക്കുന്നുണ്ടോ?” എന്നു ചില പരീശന്മാർ അടുത്തുചെന്ന് യേശുവിനെ പരീക്ഷിക്കുന്നതിനായി ചോദിച്ചു.
Then some Pharisees came to him, and trying him asked, Can a man lawfully, upon every pretense, divorce his wife?
4 അതിന് യേശു മറുപടി പറഞ്ഞത്: “സ്രഷ്ടാവ് ആരംഭത്തിൽ ‘പുരുഷനും സ്ത്രീയുമായിട്ടാണ് മനുഷ്യസൃഷ്ടി ചെയ്തത്.’
He answered, Have you not read, that at the beginning, when the Creator made man, he formed a male and a female,
5 അദ്ദേഹം തുടർന്നു, ‘ഈ കാരണത്താൽ ഒരു പുരുഷൻ തന്റെ മാതാപിതാക്കളെ വിട്ടുപിരിഞ്ഞ് തന്റെ ഭാര്യയോടു സംയോജിക്കും. അവരിരുവരും ഒരു ശരീരമായിത്തീരും’ എന്നു നിങ്ങൾ വായിച്ചിട്ടില്ലേ?
and said, "For this cause a man shall leave father and mother, and adhere to his wife, and they two shall be one flesh."
6 അതിനാൽ അവർ ഇനി രണ്ടല്ല, ഒരു ശരീരമാണ്. അതുകൊണ്ട് ദൈവം സംയോജിപ്പിച്ചതിനെ മനുഷ്യൻ വേർപിരിക്കരുത്.”
Wherefore they are no longer two, but one flesh. What, then, God has conjoined, let not man separate.
7 “അങ്ങനെയെങ്കിൽ, വിവാഹമോചനപത്രം കൊടുത്തശേഷം ഭാര്യയെ ഉപേക്ഷിക്കാമെന്ന് മോശ കൽപ്പിച്ചതെന്തിന്?” എന്ന് അവർ ചോദിച്ചു.
They replied, Why, then, did Moses command to give a writing of divorce, and dismiss her?
8 യേശു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞത്: “നിങ്ങൾക്കു നിങ്ങളുടെ ഭാര്യമാരെ ഉപേക്ഷിക്കാനുള്ള അനുമതി മോശ നൽകിയതു നിങ്ങളുടെ പിടിവാശി നിമിത്തമാണ്. എന്നാൽ ആരംഭത്തിൽ അപ്രകാരമായിരുന്നില്ല.
He answered, Moses, indeed, because of your untractable disposition, permitted you to divorce your wives, but it was not so from the beginning.
9 പാതിവ്രത്യലംഘനം നിമിത്തമല്ലാതെ സ്വന്തം ഭാര്യയെ ഉപേക്ഷിച്ച് മറ്റൊരു സ്ത്രീയെ വിവാഹംചെയ്യുന്നവൻ വ്യഭിചാരം ചെയ്യുന്നു എന്നു ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളോടു പറയുന്നു.”
Therefore, I say to you, whoever divorces his wife, except for whoredom, and marries another, commits adultery: and whoever marries the woman divorced, commits adultery.
10 അപ്പോൾ ശിഷ്യന്മാർ, “ഇതാണ് ഭാര്യാഭർത്തൃബന്ധത്തിന്റെ സ്ഥിതി എങ്കിൽ, വിവാഹംചെയ്യാതിരിക്കുന്നതാണ് നല്ലത്” എന്ന് അദ്ദേഹത്തോട് പറഞ്ഞു.
His disciples said to him, If such be the condition of the husband, it is better to live unmarried.
11 യേശു പ്രതിവചിച്ചത്, “വരം ലഭിച്ചവർക്കല്ലാതെ മറ്റാർക്കും ഈ ഉപദേശം ഉൾക്കൊള്ളുക അസാധ്യം.
He answered, They alone are capable of living thus, on whom the power is conferred.
12 ഷണ്ഡന്മാരായി ജനിച്ചവരുണ്ട്; മനുഷ്യർ ഷണ്ഡന്മാരാക്കിയവരുമുണ്ട്; സ്വർഗരാജ്യത്തെപ്രതി ഷണ്ഡന്മാരായി ജീവിക്കാൻ തീരുമാനിച്ചവരുമുണ്ട്. ഈ ഉപദേശം ഉൾക്കൊള്ളാൻ കഴിയുന്നവർ ഉൾക്കൊള്ളട്ടെ.”
For some are eunuchs from their birth; others have been made eunuchs by men; and others, for the sake of the kingdom of heaven, have made themselves eunuchs. Let him act this part who can act it.
13 അതിനുശേഷം ചില ആളുകൾ ശിശുക്കളെ, യേശു അവരുടെമേൽ കൈവെച്ച് അവർക്കുവേണ്ടി പ്രാർഥിക്കേണ്ടതിന്, അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ കൊണ്ടുവന്നു. എന്നാൽ ശിഷ്യന്മാർ അവരെ ശകാരിച്ചു.
Then children were presented to him, that he might lay his hands on them, and pray, but the disciples reproved them.
14 എന്നാൽ യേശു, “ശിശുക്കളെ എന്റെ അടുക്കൽ വരാൻ അനുവദിക്കുക; അവരെ തടയരുത്; കാരണം സ്വർഗരാജ്യം ഇങ്ങനെയുള്ളവർക്കു സ്വന്തം!” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
Jesus said, Let the children alone, and hinder them not from coming to me; for of such is the kingdom of heaven.
15 യേശു അവരുടെമേൽ കൈവെച്ചശേഷം അവിടെനിന്ന് യാത്രതിരിച്ചു.
And having laid his hands on them, he departed thence.
16 അപ്പോൾ ഒരാൾ യേശുവിനെ സമീപിച്ച്, “ഗുരോ, എന്ത് സൽക്കർമം ചെയ്താലാണ് നിത്യജീവൻ അവകാശമാക്കാൻ എനിക്കു കഴിയുന്നത്?” എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു. (aiōnios g166)
Afterward, one approaching, said to him, Good Teacher, what good must I do to obtain eternal life? (aiōnios g166)
17 യേശു അതിന്, “നല്ല കർമം എന്തെന്ന് എന്നോടു ചോദിക്കുന്നതെന്ത്? നല്ലവൻ ഒരുവൻമാത്രമേ ഉള്ളൂ. നിത്യജീവനിൽ പ്രവേശിക്കാൻ നീ ആഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നെങ്കിൽ കൽപ്പനകൾ അനുസരിക്കുക” എന്ന് ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.
He answered, Why do you call me good? God alone is good. If you would enter into that life, keep the commandments.
18 “ആ കൽപ്പനകൾ ഏതെല്ലാം?” അയാൾ ചോദിച്ചു. “‘കൊലപാതകം ചെയ്യരുത്, വ്യഭിചാരം ചെയ്യരുത്, മോഷ്ടിക്കരുത്, കള്ളസാക്ഷ്യം പറയരുത്,
He said to him, Which? Jesus answered, "You shall not commit murder. You shall not commit adultery. You shall not steal. You shall not give false testimony.
19 നിന്റെ മാതാപിതാക്കളെ ബഹുമാനിക്കുക, നീ നിന്നെ സ്നേഹിക്കുന്നതുപോലെതന്നെ അയൽവാസിയെയും സ്നേഹിക്കുക’ എന്നിത്യാദിയാണ്,” എന്ന് യേശു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.
"Honor father and mother; and love your neighbor as yourself."
20 ആ യുവാവ്, “ഞാൻ ഇവയെല്ലാം പാലിക്കുന്നുണ്ട്” എന്നു മറുപടി പറഞ്ഞു. “ഇതിലധികമായി ഞാൻ എന്താണ് ചെയ്യേണ്ടത്?” അയാൾ ആരാഞ്ഞു.
The young man replied, All these I have observed from my childhood. In what am I still deficient?
21 യേശു അയാളോട്, “സദ്ഗുണങ്ങളാൽ പൂർണനാകാൻ ആഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നെങ്കിൽ പോയി നിനക്കുള്ള സ്വത്ത് സർവവും വിറ്റ് ആ പണം ദരിദ്രർക്ക് കൊടുക്കുക, എങ്കിൽ സ്വർഗത്തിൽ നിനക്കു നിക്ഷേപം ഉണ്ടാകും. അതിനുശേഷം വരിക, എന്റെ അനുഗാമിയാകുക” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
Jesus answered, If you would be perfect, go sell your estate, and give the price to the poor, and you shall have treasure in heaven.
22 വളരെ വസ്തുവകകൾ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്ന ആ യുവാവ് ഈ വാക്കുകേട്ട് ദുഃഖിതനായി അവിടെനിന്ന് പോയി.
The young man hearing this, went away sorrowful, for he had great possessions.
23 അപ്പോൾ യേശു തന്റെ ശിഷ്യന്മാരോട്, “ധനികർ സ്വർഗരാജ്യത്തിൽ പ്രവേശിക്കുകയെന്നത് എത്രയോ വിഷമകരം എന്നു നിശ്ചയമായും ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളോടു പറയുന്നു.
Then Jesus said to his disciples, Indeed, I say to you, it is difficult for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of heaven:
24 ഞാൻ വീണ്ടും പറയട്ടെ, ധനികർ ദൈവരാജ്യത്തിൽ പ്രവേശിക്കുന്നതിനെക്കാൾ, ഒട്ടകം സൂചിക്കുഴയിലൂടെ കടക്കുന്നതാണ് കൂടുതൽ എളുപ്പം.”
I say further, it is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.
25 ഇതു കേട്ട് ശിഷ്യന്മാർ അത്യന്തം ആശ്ചര്യപ്പെട്ടു, “എന്നാൽ രക്ഷിക്കപ്പെടാൻ ആർക്കു കഴിയും?” എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.
The disciples, who heard this with amazement, said, Who then can be saved?
26 യേശു അവരെ നോക്കി, “മനുഷ്യർക്ക് ഇത് അസാധ്യം; എന്നാൽ ദൈവത്തിന് സകലതും സാധ്യമാണ്” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
Jesus, looking at them, answered, With men this is impossible, but with God everything is possible.
27 അപ്പോൾ പത്രോസ്, “ഇതാ, ഞങ്ങൾ സകലതും ഉപേക്ഷിച്ച് അങ്ങയെ അനുഗമിച്ചല്ലോ; ഞങ്ങൾക്ക് എന്താണു ലഭിക്കുക?” എന്ന് യേശുവിനോട് ചോദിച്ചു.
Then Peter replying, said, As for us, we have forsaken all, and followed you; what then shall be our reward?
28 യേശു അവരോടു പറഞ്ഞത്, “പുതിയ യുഗത്തിൽ, മനുഷ്യപുത്രൻ തന്റെ തേജസ്സിന്റെ സിംഹാസനത്തിൽ ഉപവിഷ്ടനാകുമ്പോൾ, എന്നെ അനുഗമിച്ച നിങ്ങൾ, പന്ത്രണ്ട് സിംഹാസനങ്ങളിൽ ഇരുന്ന്, ഇസ്രായേലിലെ പന്ത്രണ്ട് ഗോത്രങ്ങളെ ന്യായംവിധിക്കും എന്നു നിശ്ചയമായും ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളോടു പറയുന്നു.
Jesus answered, Indeed, I say to you, that at the Renovation, when the Son of Man shall be seated on his glorious throne, you, my followers, sitting upon the twelve thrones, shall judge the twelve tribes of Israel.
29 എന്നെപ്രതി വീടുകൾ, സഹോദരന്മാർ, സഹോദരിമാർ, പിതാവ്, മാതാവ്, ഭാര്യ, മക്കൾ, പുരയിടങ്ങൾ എന്നിവ ത്യജിച്ച ഓരോ വ്യക്തിക്കും അവ നൂറുമടങ്ങു തിരികെ ലഭിക്കും. എന്നുമാത്രമല്ല, അവർ നിത്യജീവന് അവകാശികളാകുകയും ചെയ്യും. (aiōnios g166)
And whoever shall have forsaken, on my account, houses, or brothers, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, shall receive a hundred fold, and inherit eternal life. (aiōnios g166)
30 എന്നാൽ ഇന്ന് അഗ്രഗാമികളായിരിക്കുന്ന പലരും അന്ന് ഏറ്റവും പിന്നിലുള്ളവരും ഇന്ന് ഏറ്റവും പിന്നിലുള്ള പലരും അന്ന് അഗ്രഗാമികളുമായിത്തീരും.
But many shall be first that are last, and last that are first.
