മത്തായി 17
1 ഈ സംഭാഷണംനടന്ന് ആറുദിവസം കഴിഞ്ഞ് യേശു, പത്രോസ്, യാക്കോബ്, യാക്കോബിന്റെ സഹോദരൻ യോഹന്നാൻ എന്നിവരെമാത്രം കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ട് ഒരു ഉയർന്ന മലയിലേക്കുപോയി.
THEN six days after, Jesus taketh Peter, and James, and John his brother, and bringeth them into an exceeding high mountain apart.
2 അവിടെവെച്ച് അദ്ദേഹം അവരുടെമുമ്പിൽ രൂപാന്തരപ്പെട്ടു. അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ മുഖം സൂര്യനെപ്പോലെ പ്രശോഭിച്ചു; വസ്ത്രം പ്രകാശംപോലെ വെണ്മയുള്ളതായിത്തീർന്നു.
And he was transformed before them; and his face shone as the sun, and his garments were white as the light.
3 മോശയും ഏലിയാവും യേശുവിനോട് സംസാരിക്കുന്നതായും അവർ കണ്ടു.
And behold, there appeared to them, Moses and Elias talking with him.
4 അപ്പോൾ പത്രോസ് യേശുവിനോട്, “കർത്താവേ, നാം ഇവിടെ ആയിരിക്കുന്നത് എത്രയോ നല്ലത്. അവിടത്തേക്കു പ്രസാദമെങ്കിൽ ഞാൻ ഇവിടെ മൂന്ന് കൂടാരങ്ങൾ ഉണ്ടാക്കാം. ഒന്ന് അങ്ങേക്കും ഒന്ന് മോശയ്ക്കും മറ്റൊന്ന് ഏലിയാവിനും” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
Then Peter addressing him, said to Jesus, Lord, It is well that we are here; if it please thee, we will make here three tents; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias.
5 പത്രോസ് ഇതു സംസാരിക്കുമ്പോൾ, പ്രകാശപൂരിതമായ ഒരു മേഘം അവരെ ആവരണംചെയ്തു. ആ മേഘത്തിൽനിന്ന്, “ഞാൻ സംപ്രീതനായിരിക്കുന്ന എന്റെ പ്രിയപുത്രൻ ഇവൻതന്നെ, ഇവൻ പറയുന്നത് ശ്രദ്ധിച്ചുകേൾക്കുക” എന്ന് ഒരു അശരീരി ഉണ്ടായി.
And while he was yet speaking, behold, a luminous cloud overshadowed them; and lo! a voice out of the cloud, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom is my delight; hear him!
6 ഇതു കേട്ട ശിഷ്യന്മാർ ഭയന്നുവിറച്ചു നിലത്ത് കമിഴ്ന്നുവീണു.
And the disciples hearing it, fell on their face, and were exceedingly affrighted.
7 യേശു വന്ന് അവരെ തൊട്ടു. “എഴുന്നേൽക്കുക, ഭയപ്പെടേണ്ട,” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
And Jesus came and touched them, and said, Arise, be not affrighted.
8 അവർ തലയുയർത്തിനോക്കിയപ്പോൾ യേശുവിനെ അല്ലാതെ മറ്റാരെയും കണ്ടില്ല.
Then lifting up their eyes, they saw no person, but Jesus only.
9 അവർ മലയിൽനിന്ന് ഇറങ്ങിവരുമ്പോൾ യേശു അവരോട്, “മനുഷ്യപുത്രൻ (ഞാൻ) മരിച്ചവരിൽനിന്ന് ഉയിർത്തെഴുന്നേറ്റിട്ടല്ലാതെ നിങ്ങൾ കണ്ട കാര്യം ആരോടും പറയരുത്” എന്നു കൽപ്പിച്ചു.
And when they were coming down from the mountain, Jesus commanded them, saying, Tell no man the vision, until the Son of man is risen from the dead.
10 ശിഷ്യന്മാർ അദ്ദേഹത്തോട്, “ഏലിയാവ് ആദ്യം വരണം എന്ന് വേദജ്ഞർ പറയുന്നത് എന്തുകൊണ്ടാണ്?” എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.
And his disciples asked him, saying, Why then do the scribes affirm, that Elias must come first?
11 അതിന് യേശു, “ഏലിയാവ് വരികയും എല്ലാക്കാര്യങ്ങളും പുനഃസ്ഥാപിക്കുകയും ചെയ്യും, നിശ്ചയം.
Then Jesus answering said unto them, Elias indeed cometh first, and will reform all things.
12 എന്നാൽ ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളോടു പറയുന്നു, ഏലിയാവ് വന്നുകഴിഞ്ഞു, അദ്ദേഹത്തെ ആരും തിരിച്ചറിഞ്ഞില്ല; തങ്ങൾ ആഗ്രഹിച്ചതുപോലെയെല്ലാം യെഹൂദർ അദ്ദേഹത്തോട് പ്രവർത്തിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു. അതുപോലെതന്നെ മനുഷ്യപുത്രനും അവരിൽനിന്ന് പീഡനം സഹിക്കും” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
But I say unto you, That Elias is already come, and they knew him not, but have done by him whatsoever they chose: even so also must the Son of man suffer by them.
13 യേശു തങ്ങളോടു സംസാരിച്ചത് യോഹന്നാൻസ്നാപകനെക്കുറിച്ചാണ് എന്ന് അപ്പോൾ ശിഷ്യന്മാർക്ക് മനസ്സിലായി.
Then understood the disciples that he spake to them of John the Baptist.
14 യേശുവും ശിഷ്യന്മാരും ജനക്കൂട്ടത്തിനടുത്തു വന്നപ്പോൾ ഒരു മനുഷ്യൻ അദ്ദേഹത്തെ സമീപിച്ച് മുട്ടുകുത്തി,
And when they were come to the multitude, there came to him a man, kneeling down to him, and saying,
15 “കർത്താവേ, എന്റെ മകനോട് കരുണയുണ്ടാകണമേ, അവൻ അപസ്മാരരോഗത്താൽ അതിദാരുണമായി നരകിക്കുന്നു; പലപ്പോഴും തീയിലും വെള്ളത്തിലും വീണുപോകുന്നു.
Lord, have compassion on my son, for he is a lunatic, and suffers grievously; for oftentimes he falleth into the fire, and often into the water.
16 അങ്ങയുടെ ശിഷ്യന്മാരുടെ അടുക്കൽ ഞാൻ അവനെ കൊണ്ടുവന്നു, എങ്കിലും അവർക്ക് അവനെ സൗഖ്യമാക്കാൻ കഴിഞ്ഞില്ല” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
And I brought him to thy disciples, and they have not been able to cure him.
17 അതിന് യേശു, “അവിശ്വാസവും വക്രതയുമുള്ള തലമുറയേ, എത്രനാൾ ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളോടുകൂടെ വസിക്കും? എത്രനാൾ ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളെ സഹിക്കും? ബാലനെ ഇവിടെ എന്റെ അടുക്കൽ കൊണ്ടുവരിക” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
Then Jesus answering, said, O generation, faithless, and perverse! how long shall I be with you? how long shall I bear with you? bring him hither to me.
18 യേശു ഭൂതത്തെ ശാസിച്ചു, അത് ബാലനിൽനിന്ന് പുറത്തുപോയി; ആ നിമിഷത്തിൽത്തന്നെ അവൻ സൗഖ്യമായി.
And Jesus rebuked him, and the devil came out of him; and the child was cured from that hour.
19 അതിനുശേഷം ശിഷ്യന്മാർ യേശുവിന്റെ അടുക്കൽവന്ന്, “ഞങ്ങൾക്ക് ആ ആത്മാവിനെ പുറത്താക്കാൻ കഴിയാഞ്ഞത് എന്തുകൊണ്ടാണ്?” എന്നു രഹസ്യമായി ചോദിച്ചു.
Then the disciples of Jesus coming privately, said, Why could not we cast it out?
20 “അത് നിങ്ങളിലെ വിശ്വാസത്തിന്റെ അപര്യാപ്തതമൂലമാണ്. നിങ്ങൾക്ക് ഒരു കടുകുമണിയോളമെങ്കിലും വിശ്വാസം ഉണ്ടെങ്കിൽ ഈ മലയോട്, ‘ഇവിടെനിന്ന് മാറിപ്പോകുക’ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞാൽ അതു മാറിപ്പോകും, നിശ്ചയം എന്നു ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളോടു പറയുന്നു. നിങ്ങൾക്ക് അസാധ്യമായത് ഒന്നുംതന്നെ ഉണ്ടാകുകയില്ല.
Then said Jesus unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard, ye shall say to this mountain, Remove from hence, thither, and it will remove; and nothing will be impossible for you.
21 എന്നാൽ പ്രാർഥനയാലും ഉപവാസത്താലും അല്ലാതെ ഈ വിധമുള്ളവ ഒഴിഞ്ഞുപോകുകയില്ല.”
But this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting.
22 അവർ ഒന്നിച്ച് ഗലീലയിൽ എത്തിയപ്പോൾ യേശു അവരോട്, “മനുഷ്യപുത്രൻ (ഞാൻ) മനുഷ്യരുടെ കൈയിൽ ഏൽപ്പിക്കപ്പെടും;
And as they were returning into Galilee, Jesus said unto them, The Son of man must be delivered into the hands of men:
23 അവർ അവനെ കൊല്ലും. എന്നാൽ, മൂന്നാംദിവസം അവൻ ഉയിർത്തെഴുന്നേൽക്കും” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. ഇതു കേട്ട് ശിഷ്യന്മാർ അത്യന്തം ദുഃഖിതരായി.
and they shall kill him, and the third day he shall rise again. And they were grieved exceedingly.
24 യേശുവും ശിഷ്യന്മാരും കഫാർനഹൂമിൽ എത്തിയപ്പോൾ ഓരോ വ്യക്തിയിൽനിന്ന് രണ്ട് ദ്രഹ്മ വീതം ദൈവാലയനികുതി ഈടാക്കുന്നവർ പത്രോസിന്റെ അടുക്കൽവന്ന്, “നിങ്ങളുടെ ഗുരു ദൈവാലയനികുതി കൊടുക്കുന്നില്ലേ?” എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.
And when they came to Capernaum, they who receive the tax of two drachmas came to Peter, and said, Doth not your master pay tribute?
25 “ഉവ്വ്, കൊടുക്കുന്നുണ്ടല്ലോ,” പത്രോസ് മറുപടി പറഞ്ഞു. പത്രോസ് ഭവനത്തിൽ പ്രവേശിച്ചപ്പോൾ യേശുവാണ് സംഭാഷണം ആരംഭിച്ചത്. “ശിമോനേ, എന്താണ് നിന്റെ അഭിപ്രായം? ഭൂമിയിലെ രാജാക്കന്മാർ കരമോ നികുതിയോ പിരിക്കുന്നത് ആരിൽനിന്നാണ്—അവരുടെ സ്വന്തം മക്കളിൽനിന്നോ അതോ അന്യരിൽനിന്നോ?” അദ്ദേഹം ചോദിച്ചു.
He saith, Yes. And when he came into the house, Jesus prevented him, saying, What thinkest thou, Simon? of whom do the kings of the earth receive customs and tax? from their own children, or from aliens?
26 “അന്യരിൽനിന്ന്,” പത്രോസ് മറുപടി നൽകി. “അങ്ങനെയെങ്കിൽ മക്കൾ ഒഴിവുള്ളവരാണല്ലോ,” യേശു അദ്ദേഹത്തോട് പറഞ്ഞു.
Peter saith to him, From aliens. Jesus saith unto him, In that case then the children are free.
27 “എന്തായാലും നാം അവരെ എതിർക്കേണ്ടതില്ല; നീ തടാകത്തിൽ ചെന്ന് ചൂണ്ടയിടുക. ആദ്യം ലഭിക്കുന്ന മത്സ്യത്തെ എടുത്ത് അതിന്റെ വായ് തുറക്കുമ്പോൾ നാലു ദ്രഹ്മയുടെ ഒരു നാണയം കാണും; അത് എടുത്ത് നാം ഇരുവരുടെയും നികുതി നൽകുക,” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
But that we give them no offence, go unto the sea, and cast in a hook, and take the first fish which cometh up; and on opening his mouth, thou wilt find a stater, that take and give them for me and thee.
